The magazine was founded 31st January 1991 in the UK and is currently published under license by Thrust
Publishing Ltd. The editor of the magazine is Ben Murphy.
The magazine publishes two annual "Top 100" lists, one for DJs since 1991 and one for nightclubs. It is
comprised of five sections; “Comin’ Up” (news and fashion), “On The Floor” (club culture), “Features”,

DJ Mag allows their avid fans the chance to subscribe to the
magazine online, having various of issues as a PDF, only
costing £12.00. DJ Magazine is delivered to subscriber’s
laptop every month, with the full magazine version including
news, reviews, features, advertising and competitions.

2. DJ Magazine - Front Covers
The front covers of DJ Magazine seems to always have the model shot
from the waist up or a close up shot. The model converts to the typical
pose that model’s do when appearing on a magazine, staring directly at
the camera, allowing the model’s to have a connection with the readers.
On certain front covers the model’s have their head tilted to the side or
their face faced forward.
The colour scheme seen on these magazines are very bright, vibrant and
bold colours. The masthead is always seen in it’s bright red colour and
capitalized bold font, placed on the left hand side of the cover. The
masthead is either placed in front of the model or behind them. The
headline is usually seen in a bright colour, such as red or yellow, while
the surrounding text, such as the sell lines, are seen as white or black.
The background colour is usually a bright colour which very much stands
out. The usual colours are blue and a rose pink colour, however only a
few covers will contain backgrounds filled in, in black. The use of bright
vibrant colours may show how the magazine overall is an entertaining or
rather playful magazine, aimed for teens and over.
The sell lines usually contain EDM artists such as Hardwell, Axel Boman
etc., up-and-coming artists, new album releases, festival lineups and the
monthly poll that the magazine has. The language used is very informal,
allowing it to correspond to the younger generation.
On certain front covers there are buttons, usually with a yellow or as
bright background colour, with black text written inside. On the other
hand, there are hardly any banners seen.
