This document discusses disaster mitigation and socialization in West Java, Indonesia. It provides background on Indonesia's susceptibility to various natural and human-made disasters due to its geography, climate, geology, and development challenges. The research aims to (1) describe disaster characteristics and cultural factors related to mitigation, (2) examine local understanding of disasters and responses, (3) map mitigation information needs, and (4) propose a model for socializing mitigation. Data was collected through surveys in 5 regions of West Java. The findings suggest socialization should include spatial planning, risk maps, early warning systems, and training to improve preparedness.
