1. GRIME IS NOW THE NEW SOUND
.
Grime has become vastly popular within the last 10 years with the lights of, Skepta,
Kano, Lady Leshurr and Giggs who have dominated the UK scene through going on
media channels such grm daily, link up TV, SBTV these channels are small media
niches who give a platform for young upcoming artists. GRM Daily has been up and
running for 10 years now and is being run by CEO Posty from canning town grm
daily has given many opportunities for young musicians who have even excelled in
signing to record labels, this goes to show the improvements made in the recent
years as Technology grows through music.
UK pirate radio stations such as Rinse FM, Deja Vu FM, and Freeze 92.7 influenced
grime in such a strong way that is has created strong rappers right now when they
were identified as underground artists many years ago . Music has helped rappers by
certain artists winning mobo awards, BET awards and many more prizes alongside
this these awards go to show how global and international artist in the UK are
becoming through the music they started.
Grime music in the early years were only released on 12 inch vinyl’s because it was
cheap and easy there were often local vinyl presses who would give away to
producers, dj’s, and MC’s a way or releasing their own product under their own label,
for example BBK who was started and formed by two brothers JME and skepta
which is an English grime collective recorded label who are independent and do
things their own way without anyone predominating them to do whatever it is
necessary for the benefit of their music. BBk was established in 2005 in north London
they have become tremendously and exceedingly popular over the 11 years as they
have made it to the UK charts multiple times with hit banger ‘too many man’ which
charted at 79 on the uk charts in addition to this they have also produced many
albums such as ; Skepta – Blacklisted (2012) ,Jammer – Living the Dream (2013)
Frisco – British Nights (2014) Jme – Integrity> (2015) Frisco – System Killer (2016)
Skepta – Konnichiwa (2016) Wiley – Godfather (2017) all of these albums have made
the independent label so much money over the years which has allowed them to
invest in clothing and merchandise for their fans.
The UK sound of grime is different to any other rap to sound in other countries this is
because it’s deeper than rap as grime is not a subgenre of hip pop which makes the
genre of the music GRIME unique.
Grime is the new sound because its growing through media platforms who have now
got support with portable access through apps and smarts phones which all the
young teenaged generation love. The apps of grm daily and link up tv give access to
listen to grime and also watch whenever you would like to for example on the way to
school and when you are travelling this makes it easier for fans and supporters to

access as they don’t have to switch on the tele to see what’s new which saves them
