Ancient Ephesus was known across the Greek world for its devotion to the goddess Artemis and for
its monumental temple dedicated to her. Greek Artemis was a goddess of virginity, women's
concerns, the hunt and the underworld (1). She was also the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin
of Apollo. To her dedication, The Temple of Artemis was built, which is known as one of the Seven
Wonders of the Ancient World. The Iconic Temple of Artemis resides in the ancient city of Ephesus

There were two rows of columns stretched across the front of the temple, standing about 21 feet
apart and extending from the front to the back of the temple at 17 feet apart. The door in the
pediment –– along with two windows –– was intended for Artemis' own use (8). Inside the temple

Temple Grandin was diagnosed with autism when she was four years old. The doctors told her
mother that Temple should be put in an institution because she would likely never learn to talk.
Fortunately for her, Mrs. Grandin refused to institutionalize her daughter and decided to do

Movie Analysis : Temple Grandin
Temple Grandin is a film that relies heavily on mise en scene to show audiences the amazing way
into which those with autism can see the world and perceive and then solve problems they are faced
with on a daily basis. The filmmakers cleverly use mise en scene to help communicate the central
theme of the film of being different, not less. It gives viewers a way to relate to Temple, to see and
understand what her world is like. They are able to spend the length of the film in her shoes and
learn what it's like to think outside the box. To allow the audience a peek into the mind of Temple,
the filmmakers had to find a way to show how she connects things in the real world to things she has
stored in her memory that allows her to make sense of the situation. One example of this is when
Temple first arrives Arizona, as she is exiting the airplane, the audience is introduced to the very
literal interpretation of the world that she has. In the scorching heat as she walks down the stairs off
the plane she not only feels the heat, she can see it. She looks around and everywhere she looks she
sees fire. Her mind interprets the heat she is feeling and automatically thinks of everything related to

The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus is a complex building with a complex history. Located in East
Greece, the building underwent many changes, as did the surrounding Greek society. This paper will
discuss the history, architecture, historical context, and sculptures of the temple. An analysis of it's
evolution will also be provided.
The temple was built in mid sixth century BCE. The exact date of construction is unknown.
However, a date of around 525 BCE has been suggested based on the column reliefs found. They are

experienced further devastation in 263 AD when a group of Ostrogoths attacked it, destroying it

Mamallapuram : The Five Rathas And The Shore Temple
Mamallapuram, also called Mahabalipuram, (Mamalla meaning "great warrior") is a famous town in
India that's well–known for its monuments and temple created by the Pallava dynasty during the 7th
and 8th century. The five Rathas and the Shore Temple I will be writing about in this essay covers
the history and materials that were used to build them. They are also labeled as rock–cut temples
that were hallowed out of mountains carved out of hard stone and are more connected to sculptures
rather than conventional buildings constructed with blocks of polished stone. They are carved in the
"quasi–monolithic temple form." The Pancha Rathas are aligned in the direction of north to south
and share a standard plinth. The five Rathas except the Arjuna Ratha are a collection of five small
stone temples accompanied by a life–size statue of a bull, an elephant, and a lion. Four of the Rathas
are carved out of a large, single piece of rock. Since each Ratha wasn't finished, they were not able
to be used as a worship space. All of the Ratha (monolithic) temples are three stories high with a
base floor plan shaped like a square. The shallow recesses of the interior walls of the Rathas have

The Early Classical Greek Temple of Hera II from Paestum, Italy, built circa 460 BCE, has
influenced many works, such as the Carolingian Palatine Chapel built by Odo of Metz in Aachen,
Germany from 792–805 BCE under command of the patron, Charlemagne. The Second Temple of
Hera is one of the most studied Greek temples since it is in such good condition and has so much to
offer historians. The Palatine Chapel, highly inspired by ancient Greek architectural design, was
closely supervised by Charlemagne as his personal project, and built by Odo of Metz. The Temple of
Hera II and the Palatine Chapel are similar due to the influence ancient Greek works had on later
European art, such as the Carolingian period. Art from these periods influenced the important
aspects of art seen today. Religion was a huge motivator for both of these periods, and held deep
emotional connections for many artists. I find this to be somewhat relatable, since I also need
emotional attachment as a motivator to complete my artwork sometimes. These designs resemble
those of today in the amount of effort and forethought put into planning and building them, however,
the complexity of these older religious structures lies in the artistic and visual nature of the building,

Intro & Thesis Statement: Temple of Hera at Olympia is built for serving the wife of Zeus and the
Greek goddess of marriage, Hera. The size of Temple of Hera is not huge, the dimensions of the
temple were 18.75 m by 50 m. It is the oldest building in the site of Olympia, it was built about 600
BC, it is one of the oldest temples in Greece. The Temple was destroyed by an earthquake in 4th
century CE. The first Olympic game started here at 776 BC and maintained the tradition ever since.
In modern days, people use Temple of Hera as the sacred place for lighting up the torch of the
Olympic flame. Temple of Hera at Olympia uses its environment, different styles of Doric columns,
hexastyle plan and different local materials that were used on the temple shapes the way it looks.

Greek and Roman temples are the most influential temples of all times. It is argued that the Greek
influenced the Romans and this may be the reason why their temples are so alike. The Parthenon
and the Pantheon are the most popular temples of both eras. However, the Pantheon does not look
like other roman temples would to Greek temples – and this is because it has interior space and thus
has a completely different composition. Despite their quite similar looks, Roman and Greek temples
have unique differences in material, method, purpose, and others.
The Parthenon, with no doubt, is one of the best well–known Greek temples of all times. It is also
