All-Majors Career Fair Job Analysis
Last week I attended the Kennesaw State University All Majors Career Fair. This event took place in
the Dr. Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation and Activities Center. I had several tables that I wanted to
visit. However, there three recruiters that I received signatures from were Peace Corps, Kohl s and
Bright Horizon Family Solutions. I believe that each of these job opportunities could use a Psychology
major. I say this because psychology can be applied to nearly every job.
The Peace Corps table had a recruiter by the name of Todd H. I came to this booth because a huge
aspect of this company is to gain leadership experiences. I believe that I could gain more experience in
this department because leadership is not one of my best qualities. ... Show more content on

I recognize that I don t have the most professional look at this point in my life. Having a tattoo on my
left forearm and a side shave can be a hit or miss in the work field. Some in employers can view it as a
way to add character or diversity to their company. While others may turn their nose up at the sight
and immediately reject me on the spot. In this situation, jobs that involve psychology directly would
most likely not accept this look. I struggled with accepting this and attempted to hide my less
professional aspects. I washed my hair so that I could flip my part in an attempt to cover my side
shave. Even though it was hot in the gym, I still wore a sweater that covered my tattoo. These
precautions actually made me feel less confident and created more self conscious thoughts. I had to
constantly remember not to tuck my hair behind my ear or push my sleeves up my arm. Both of these
actions would result in exposing my unprofessional tattoo and hair. I also feared that I would become
noticeable sweaty because a room full of college students, interviewing for future jobs can heat up
even the best air conditioned room. I was also self conscious about that fact that I had recently bitten
my nails. Believe it or not, but a lot of recruiters pay attention to even the tiniest of details, such as the
maintenance of your finger

The Police And Criminal Evidence Act
In this essay I will be describing some key legislation that has been put in place to protect citizens
rights within society.
Legal Rights
The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (1984)
The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) lays out the rights of suspects and the powers of the
police. The act is split up into 8 sections, together the act covers: stop and search, arrest, detention,
investigation, identification and interviewing detainees.
The fist section is code A; this states a police officer s powers to search a person or vehicle before
making an arrest, stating where and how this should be completed. If the police suspects that someone
has committed a crime they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The length of time in which a suspect is detained should be kept to a minimum, meaning the search
should be carried out quickly, also whilst trying to minimise embarrassment. An officer should treat
the person being searched, with respect, using their powers fairly and not showing discrimination.
The next section is code B; this covers the power to search premises, seize and retain items found on
premises and people. An officer might have a search warrant, issued by a justice of the peace, granting
powers of entry, search and seizure; this could be to search for stolen property, evidence of serious
crimes, drugs and weapons. The police also have the powers to search a property without a warrant in
order to make an arrest or after an arrest. However entry, search and seizure should be justified before
being carried out as the Human Rights Act 1998 state the right to privacy and respect for personal
property and there might be another way to meet the objectives of the search which aren t as intrusive.
The Powers to search and seize must be used respectfully, fairly and without unlawful discrimination.
This code links with code A, as if a person isn t arrested but is searched whilst conducting the search
of the property, it must be carried out following code A.

King Augustus Relationship
Augustus was born in 63 BC in Ancient Rome. He died August 19, 14 AD in Nola, Italy. His full name
was Imperator Caesar Divi Filius Augustus. His parents were Gaius Octavius and Atia. Augustus had 3
wifes. There names were Clodia Pulchra (m. 42 BC 40 BC), Scribonia (m. 40 BC 38 BC), and Livia
(37 BC 14 AD). He was married to Livia the longest. Augustus was adopted by his great uncle Julius
Caesar in 44 BCE. Augustus was called many names but the most common was Octavian. Augustus
was the founder of the Roman Principate and he was considered the first Roman Emperor, controlling
the Roman empire from 27 BC until he died in 14 AD. Augustus was considered to be the greatest
emperor of all time. Augustus came in power after his uncle Julius Caesar was assassinated. Augustus
gained supreme power by defeating Mark Antony. Mark Antony had been a close friend and relative to
them for a long time. Augustus and Mark Antony s relationship had began to deteriorate so he then
had given his sister to marry Mark Antony in hope to get their bond back. Then, Augustus thought that
Mark Antony had used his sister because he had divorced her and married Cleopatra. So therefore,
their relationship was still messed up and a lot of things happened between them. ... Show more

in power over Rome. He ruled from 63 BC until his death in 14

Prison Reform In The 1800 s
Prisons in America have been around for many years. They have been around since the 1600 s. The
prisons in the 1600 s were small local jails for people who were waiting for trial. Punishment for
people who went to jail during this time were executed, tortured and penalized. In the late 1600 s the
death penalty was allowed for those who committed a murder. The other crimes only consisted of
labor and fines as punishment. In the 1700 s jails became an extremely unsafe place. The inmates in
the jails were tortured until they became insane. Later in the 1800 s, incarceration was used as
punishment for individuals who committed a severe crime. However, this was an issue for the
legislature because they did not want to finance the prisons. The prisons purpose was to help inmates
morally and fix their character instead of cruelly punishing them. It was popular during the 1800 s for
prisons to be a place of reform. The punishment of hard labor was used to shape the inmates into self
disciplined individuals. Two methods of prison reform used in the 1800 s were the Pennsylvania
system, or the Separate System and the Auburn system, or the Silent System. ... Show more content on

Pennsylvania System was to abolish the sense of criminal community and encourage self punishment.

My Visit to the Brooklyn Museum
During my visit to the Brooklyn Museum, I found it both intriguing and informative. The layout of the
exhibition was divided into about three to four sections. Each section of the museum represented a
movement of the 60 s. The themes represented were segregation of blacks and whites, how they tried
to gain equality and the changes they anticipated would happen in the future. The artwork throughout
the exhibit was displayed in a varying gradient of black and white to colors. The type of background
information provided in the exhibit were captions under each artwork specifying the artists name, the
year and time it was created and what message the artwork was trying to portray. I did find the
information that was provided to me helpful because it gave me an insight on to what the specific
artwork was about and the message it was trying to convey to the me, the viewer. One artwork I
observed in this exhibit was David Hammons (American, b. 1943). The Door (Admissions Office),
1969. In this photograph it shows a body pressed against a door trying to gain entry into an admissions
office. The main character is a young African American boy. The role the character plays is a student
trying to get admissions into a White school. During this time the U.S. Federal Government
implemented school desegregation throughout the nation in 1954. White communities did not like the
idea of this and tried blocking black students from attending these white schools. The photo brings out

What Is A Distributed Operating System Security
Distributed Operating System Security
Anthony Fuciarelli
3030 Operating Systems
Dr. Michael Johnson
22 November 2016
Distributed operating system security is that of which security is implemented on a system of
connected computers that share and run information. This type of security system is different than
your average security features that a person may have on just a laptop or home computer system. The
biggest challenge is keeping the information that flows in a distributed operating system safe, as well
as protect against the multiple threats that security in a distributed operating system face. Its important
to understand how a distributed operating system security works, as well as the many different types
of threats that the distributed operating system security will face. Before the actually security in a
distributed operating system is discussed its important to understand what a distributed operating
system is and how its different from what most users are used too. A distributed operating system can
be described as an operating system or OS that runs on multiple central processing units or CPUs but
to a user it seems like as if its all one machine. An example would be multiple computers linked
together on one network that includes other devices such as printers or scanners. Every user that
accesses these computers on this network has access to the resources and files that are on the network,
as well as the devices that are connected.

Once the Great Depression hit America, families were put to test their own stability. The Great
Depression lasted from 1929 to 1939, and was considered the worst economic crisis in the history of
the industrialized world in America. The Depression began around the time after the stock market
crashed on October 1929, which wiped out millions of investors. During this time there was a severe
lacking in employment and by 1933, 15 million people were unemployed. The option of having a
family was strained since there were financial issues. In addition the divorce rate was also in decline
seeing as no one could acquire a job, because it was to expensive and by 1940 about 2 million married
couples were living apart and the few families who had adjusted to their current situation, many
husbands began to desert their families, children started to work part time jobs and women also began
to contribute by working in sewing, laundry, or even lodgers. When it seemed like the Depression
would never end another obstacle began to

Virtual School Vs Online School Research Paper
Why is school so dreadful to some students? Well, for at least 11 years of their lives they must attend
school. In Florida, legally at the age of sixteen they are allowed to drop out. Although, the
consequences of dropping out will shape the future of most of the students who choose to drop out.
Dropout rates are alarmingly increasing in the United States. Students often feel trapped in school and
are not aware of the other alternatives they can take. One alternative being online education. Online
education is a better method of learning for kids because it allows them to personalize their own
education, it offers them classes that the school may not have, and it allows students to experience the
world and not feel trapped by traditional school.

However, online school also allows one to have more free time and have more variety in their
schedule. Often while in school it is stressful to go to school and have a life outside of school. Then,
when graduating high school, one may have to go to college and have a job to support themselves.
Students often drop out so they can experience life outside of school. Online school offers the
alternative by allowing them to finish their classes on their time and do other things like have jobs,
and volunteer, and join clubs. Statistically online students spend 5 to 10 hours less in virtual school
than traditional school, however have higher GPA s (Christopher,1). It is argued that the online method
of educating hinders a student from having an active social life. However, in traditional school it is
often harder to maintain a social life given that during school hours students are expected to remain
focused in school, and after school they spend hours doing homework. In online school there often isn
t as much homework, thus allowing students to spend more time building healthy social

An Interview With Professor Clarissa Wilkerson, Jd, Cpa
On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, I conducted an interview with Professor Clarissa Wilkerson, JD,
CPA. As an accounting major, I am extremely interested in pursuing a career in accounting and am a
student in Professor Wilkerson s class. Her enthusiastic personality continues to inspire me to pursue a
career in this field. After explaining my career goals and the details of this assignment, she gladly
accepted when I asked if she would be willing to conduct an interview to help me complete this
interview report. Professor Wilkerson received her Master s degree in Taxation from Georgia State
University. She is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and has considerable experience
in the field of accounting. A few of the topics we discussed were: the importance of teamwork, the
way technology is changing accounting, the value of understanding finance and economics in relation
to accounting, and the usefulness of receiving a degree in accounting and earning a CPA license.
During the interview, Professor Wilkerson stressed that teamwork is a desirable skill to possess when
entering the accounting field. She stated that it is important to provide examples of experiences
working with teams or leading teams during the interview process, because most employers will place
entry level accountants in groups or teams. The importance of teamwork is twofold; engaging in
teamwork is an opportunity to show leadership skills while simultaneously meeting the challenge of

Examples Of Gilgamesh As A Hero
A hero in general is someone who stands foe strength, endurance, humbleness and shows great
bravery. In our modern day society, we have many heroes, such as, firefighter, police officers,
lifeguards, soldiers, doctors and even ordinary man and women whom risk their lives everyday. For
example, soldiers fight wars on the borders of our country to keep civilians safe. Firefighter control
deadly situations in spite of putting themselves in danger to save someone s life. Ordinary men and
women fight incurable diseases like cancer, AIDS, mental and physical disabilities and still have the
strength to face life with a positive approach. Heroes are everywhere in everyday life from movies to
art and most importantly literature. Gilgamesh for a prime example is a classical hero. In The Epic of

The two sources featured in this analysis are both engravings of scenes from the Cawnpore Massacre

Comparing The Parthenon And The Pantheon
3
The Parthenon and the Pantheon
The Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome are two of the most influential buidlings of
modern and ancient architecture, and are often confused. It s easy to see why a person would get the
two confused, there are some amazing similarities. However, once you have explored each structure in
a bit more depth, you wonder how you could have confused them in the first place.
The Parthenon was constructed during the Arthenian empire beginning in 447 B.C. and completed in
432 B.C. (Silverman, 2015) Using elements from both the Doric and Ionic orders, it optimizes Greek
architecture with a sculpted frieze (band of sculptures near the roof) depicting Greek Gods and
Goddesses, making this a distinctly Greek building. The other elements that make this building very
Greek are the columns and the multiple statues of gods and goddesses. The Parthenon was built as a
temple to the goddess Athena; the sculptor Phedias was responsible for the massive statue placed in
the temple. (Parthenon, 2017) Although it s initial intention was for religious purposes, the building
also served as a treasury for a time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word Pantheon comes from a Greek word Pantheion, meaning of, relating to, or common to all
the gods . (Pantheon Rome, 2017) Even though the origins appear to be very similar, even borrowing
its name from the Greeks, the Pantheon is distinctly Roman. Looking at the entrance you would
immediately get the impression of Greek architecture with its massive columns and portico entrance.
However, once inside, the building takes on a completely different feel. The Romans were masters of
the dome structure, and the Pantheon has the world s largest that is not reinforced with steel in

Examples Of Life After Death
The Thought of life after death is comforting for some. For others, there is no life after death. Human
beings are the only animals on earth who understand they will die, and throughout history have sought
eternal life or that life will continue after death (Stewart Williams). Steve Stewart Williams, after
looking at many arguments for and against life after death, tends to believe that he does not have a
ghost of a chance (Stewart Williams). I tend to agree with this thinking as well. Stewart Williams
shows some cases for life after death and then shows some arguments against it.
Stewart Williams looks at the examples of paranormal phenomena first. These are the ideas of out of
body experiences, near death experiences, ghosts, mediums who communicate with the dead, and past
life memories. If these occurrences were what they appear, they would be proof of an afterlife, but ...

People may have the wishful thinking without evidence, but it could still be true. Wishful thinking is
not a way of proving that life after death is false. One last argument is resurrection. This, for Stewart
Williams, has many holes. For one, if it is true the body is resurrected, and we are made of atoms
possible from bodies of past people and possible your atoms go into others in the future, how would
God resurrect everyone? Another question Stewart Williams is maybe God uses other atoms, not
within other people, then would you be the same person you were before death if not made up of the
same material you were when alive. I like the thoughts put forth by Stewart Williams, if we are atoms
and those atoms spread after death, then we would not really be the same. Stewart Williams uses the
idea of the you after death is not the same you from before death you would be a replica. I agree with
that, a replica or clone of you from different atoms would not necessarily be you, almost identically
but could not

Moreover, most Muslim communities around the world condemned these acts. Politicians have tried
very hard to separate terrorists from Muslims, but it has been difficult. Economical and geopolitical

The War on Terror campaign has been addressed by many other names such as: World War III, Bush s

2001, that President George W. Bush used the term War on Terror. In an infamous quote, President
Bush said, This crusade this war on terrorism is going to take a while... This comment was deemed
controversial due to the negative associations of the term crusade with Muslims.
The term War on Terror alone has created a psychological phenomenon that struck fear in the minds of
many Americans. The Bush Administration elevated those three words to a national mantra that had
impacted the American democracy destructively. It had impacted the American psyche as well as the
United States standing in the world. In an article by Zibigniew Brzezinski, he explains, Using this

Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare has the same discourse but instead of being cliché, mocks the

Endodontitis
The main goal of endodontic treatment is to prevent or heal apical periodontitis. The cleaning and
shaping procedures are adversely affected by the highly variable root canal anatomy. The presence of
additional canals needs to be detected in to avoid incomplete instrumentation and preservation of
bacteria and their toxins, which can compromise the outcome of the root canal treatment. Therefore,
the knowledge of the internal anatomy of teeth is a prerequisite for successful endodontic therapy(1).
The morphology of the root canal systems of mandibular molars may vary according to ethnic
differences and origin, age, gender, and study design(2). The roots and morphology of mandibular
molars present clinical complications that affect the success of endodontic therapy. Therefore,
clinicians must be able to identify the root canal structure before or during a root canal treatment(3).
The mesial root of mandibular molars often shows complex anatomy(4). Few clinical studies have

The Cherokee Kid Research Paper
The Apache Kid, also known as Haskay bay nay ntayl from birth, was a White Mountain Apache. He
is known as The Kid simply because there were many people who could not pronounce his name.
Many misspellings and other names he is known for such as, Skibenanted, Hahouantell, and
Shisininty, etc. (Ciaran Conliffe 2016). He goes by many names, none of which other people could
pronounce. One of which is insisted by an Apache scout and others by writers, the Apache kid is
simply to label him as infamous and dangerous. The kid served as a sergeant in the U.S Cavalry

Himachal Pradesh: History and Geography
Pre History amp; Early History
The history of Himachal Pradesh dates back to around two million years. At this point of time, people
lived in the foothills of Himachal Pradesh. These original inhabitants of Himachal, the Kols and the
Mundas, were forced by the people of the great Indus valley civilization to move up to the hills. The
Indus valley civilization prospered here between 2250 and 1750 BC. The second wave of migrants to
the state saw Mongoloid, like Bhota and Kiratas coming in. However, the most important lot of people
entered the area only afterwards in the third wave of migration. These were Aryans from Central Asia.

The British Period amp; Struggle For Independence
The revolt of the 1857 did not see much participation from the people of the hill. They preferred to
stay away from the revolt and infact some of the rulers even extended help to the Britishers. Few
exceptions here included the ruler of Bushahr.
Between the year 1858 and 1914, the hill states of Chamba, Mandi and Bilaspur prospered under the
British rule and even supported the latter during the first world war. The important states that
contributed their men and money for the first world war included Kangra, Siba, Nurpur, Chamba,
Suket, Mandi and Bilaspur. After 1914, things began to change and the people came out to participate
in the freedom movement of India.
Post Independence
Himachal Pradesh became a part C state on 26th January 1950 and a Union Territory on 1st
November, 1956. In between, Bilaspur was made a part of it in 1950. Kangra and other hill states were
merged into the Union territory of Himachal Pradesh in the year 1966. Finally, four years later, in
1970, through the the State of Himachal Pradesh Act, Himachal Pradesh became the eighteenth state
of India.

A Brief Note On Environmental Psychology Research Methods...
Environmental Psychology Research Methods
Summary
In this study conducted by Megan J. Bissing Olsoni, Aarti Iyer, Kelly S. Fielding and Hannes Zacher,
a survey/diary design was used to examine the relationship of pro environmental behavior, employees
daily affect, pro environmental attitude, daily task related pro environmental behavior, and daily
proactive pro environmental behavior. There were 56 participants in the study and they were all
employed in small businesses. The surveys were done twice daily, after the initial baseline survey was
conducted. Surveys were taken only on workdays, concluding on the tenth work day. The authors had
various hypotheses concerning the effects of daily un activated positive affect and pro environmental
attitude, and if they would predict daily task related pro environmental behavior, as well how daily
activated positive affect would predict daily proactive pro environmental behavior among employees.
The findings were positive in their majority of their hypotheses. The findings propose that the

Comparison Of Two Occupations, Social Work And Skills,...
Compare and Contrast Two Occupations
Final Interview Paper
Occupations require a myriad of skills, training, and requirements. The personality and talents of
individuals can guide them into their choosing a profession. For example, someone who is an
accountant may prefer little interaction with others and for information to be very precise in every
situation. Compare that to a therapist whom interacts with people daily and no two situations are the
same or precise. I am going to compare two professions, Social Work versus Information Technology,
to explore the similarities and differences in these two occupations.
Social Worker
Social Work is defined as, The professional activity of helping individuals, groups, or communities
enhance or restore their capacity for social functional and creating societal conditions favorable to this
goal. Social work practice consists of the professional application of social work values, principles,
and techniques (Coyle, 2014, p. 6). Social Workers can act as mediators, negotiators, educators, and
advocators just to name a few of the roles they play. They follow a written Code of Ethics that guide
their professional judgement and practice. Some job titles used for Social Workers are Mental Health
Counselor, Child Advocate, Adoption Specialist, Human Rights Representative, Healthcare Social
Worker, and School Social Worker.

Prohibition Of The Face Of Drug Prohibition Laws
Drugs or Don t? Tied Liberty in the face of Drug Prohibition Laws
Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man s appetite by
legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the
very principles upon which our government was founded. Abraham Lincoln
Prohibition is a word for containment; it is an act of limiting and holds a spirit of negation. It limits
our independent and individualist choices. It is not a democratic value unless devised by the citizens.
Prohibiting something on the basis of unsure logistics and deviant arguments is not the way a
democracy thrives. There is a fine line between democracy and authoritarianism. Maybe the
governments today need to realize this fine conception!
Abstract
It has been in our history and we all have suffered through this centered decision making! Prohibition
by the reasons of certain group of elites in the power structure is the major malice of democracy. Drug
Prohibition is one such veiled prophecy/execution that provides a disastrous outcome. The central
argument of my paper is How modern day capitalism in all its variations offers an explanation
(negative) to the entire scenario of drug prohibition? What can be the benefits of this entire
arrangement and who are the major beneficiaries remains a crucial query. The recent outrage in
Philippines, the age old war on Drugs led by the US and the billion dollar

The Insurance Industry and Business Ethics
Erik Cohen Business Ethics 26 September 2011 The Insurance Industry and Business Ethics The
Insurance industry is a perfect example of the use of grey areas in the culture of business ethics in the
United States. Within my research and years of experience in the field of insurance the use of business
ethics couldn t be of greater importance then the companies that provide the actual policies
themselves. Even with all of the regulations the Insurance Department puts on the insurance
companies, agents, brokers, and adjusters there are still areas where discrepancies in the code of
business practices exist. I will explain some of the insurance company s ways of motivation, monetary

Furthermore, the Department is in charge of approving corporate formations, mergers, and
consolidations. There are many different parts of the insurance industry and insurance companies, but
I will focus on the sales portion and the business ethics that encompass it. There are three kinds of
insurance sales professionals: Insurance Managing General Agents, Insurance Brokers, and Insurance
Agents. The Insurance Managing General Agent is defined legally as an individual or business entity
appointed by an insurer to solicit applications from agents for insurance contracts or to negotiate
insurance contracts on behalf of an insurer and, if authorized to do so by an insurer, to effectuate and
countersign insurance contracts. (Commission) An Insurance Broker can offer multiple insurance
products from multiple insurance carriers. Brokers are required to have a broker s license which
usually means the broker will have more education or experience than an agent. Brokers also have a
higher duty, in most states, to their clients. Brokers have the duty to analyze a business and secure
correct and adequate coverage for the business. This is a higher duty than the pure administrative duty
of the agent. (Boop) Brokers normally charge an administrative fee or a 2119c fee when purchasing a
policy through them. An Insurance Agent is an insurance professional that serves as a middle man

Character Analysis Of Charlie Gordon In Daniel Keyes...
Charlie Gordon knows he is not very intelligent and that the only thing he is good at is his job. In
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, Charlie, a 37 year old man, has an I.Q. of 68 which is a result
of a mental disorder. Later on he gets an opportunity from Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur to get an A.I.
surgery which would triple his I.Q. Charlie takes them up on the offer. After the surgery, Charlie gets
smarter, and a lot people get scared after knowing him as not being intelligent. He even gets fired from
his job because everyone felt uncomfortable and inferior around him. They signed a petition for him to
not work there anymore. Charlie didn t know what to do since it s all he s ever done. It s great that he

motivation, but after the surgery he had sadness, depression, lonely, and he could also feel ashamed.
The quote Now I m more alone than ever before... (Keyes 235). This shows he had depression. People
often think that since Charlie was smarter and could accomplish more after the surgery that he was
more liked previously, but most people didn t like him and were uncomfortable with him. For
example, he even lost his job because people didn t want him there because they were uncomfortable
with him. Dr. Nemur appears to be uncomfortable around me. Sometimes when I try to talk to him, he
just looks at me strangely and turns away (Keyes 236). This is why Charlie was better off before the

Reflective Reflection On Reflective Learning

Consequently, I, as a student who follows an industrial based degree programme, present my reflective
thoughts on learning grasped throughout the module of SPG8015 Introduction to Enterprise and

They are the four main characteristics which keep an entrepreneur elevated from an ordinary owner
manager. In addition to them, I found some more behaviours, skills and attributes that a person should
possess as an entrepreneur. They can be shown as in Table 1.
When I was learning these behaviours, skills and attributes, one question that I asked from myself
was, Do I possess these characteristics? . It made me to do a self analysis. Accordingly, I stepped back
to my past to discover my personal tendency to become an entrepreneur.
Though I have not engaged in an enterprise or enterprise related activity earlier, I found certain
entrepreneurial characteristics inside me. For an instance, the decision making ability under
uncertainty can be shown. Studying in UK was a decision taken under an uncertainty following few
sacrifices.

Smoking In Public Places
Smoking Ban Backlash
Walking down Boston s Boylston Street at the late hours of the evening, the sidewalks are crowded

Due to the smoking ban in all public work areas that has been in effect since May of 2003, restaurant
and bar patrons of Boston bear the cold winter season approaching, and reminisce about the old days
where it was legal to enjoy a smoke with a cocktail at a bar.

Only five months after the Boston ban took place discussions of a statewide ban immediately began,
and as it gets closer to 2004,the state of Massachusetts inches it s way closer to a statewide ban.
The Senate recently joined the House of Representatives in backing the statewide ban. The two
branches of legislature will meet in January to revise a draft of the bill for the statewide ban, which
will most likely pass in early 2004 and take effect July 5, 2004, making Massachusetts the 6th state to
ban smoking statewide. California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, and New York have already passed
similar bans.
Governor Mitt Romney will ultimately decide the state bans fate, yet he has not confirmed which way
he leans on this issue.
Many Boston bar and club owners who opposed a city ban now look forward to the statewide ban in
hopes that clientele will return, but most owners had no problem with the smoking to begin with.
I d rather have smoking be allowed to make the customers happy, said Irish born Milan O Shay, a
bartender at the Flann O Brian s Pub in Mission Hill. But since that won t be happening, a statewide
ban gives less of competitive edge to the other towns in the area that have yet to ban smoking.
According to the Boston Globe, a pool hall owner had hopes that the smoking ban in Boston would

Short Story Of The Duckling
He was Annoying, so I Threw Him in the Lake
On a late spring morning, within the bamboo forest, there s a lake with crystal clear water. Today, I
stop by the lake to grab a quick drink to quench my thirst. I was staring at the water and lost in my
thoughts until a high pitched squeaky voice startled me, Are you a hybrid of polar bear and a black
bear? I turn around and look down, I come face to face with an ugly creature, which I assume is the
owner of the squeaky voice. Upon closer look I recognize the ugly creature as a petite mandarin
duckling. He then open his beak again asking the exact same question with the identical agitating
voice Mr. Panda, are you a hybrid of polar bear and a black bear?
No, I m not, I responded with a monotone voice.
The duckling keeps staring at me for what seems like eternity. The silence combine with the staring is
too much for me to comprehend, so I walk away from it.
Few seconds later... SNAP! I stop walking, I slowly turn around and my heart almost stopped when I
discover that the duckling was following me along. I kindly asked the duckling Can you please stop
following me? I turn around and continue walking but the duckling is still behind my trail. This time I
walk the opposite direction, I m heading towards the lake, I peek around behind and the duckling is
still tailing me like I m some sort of celebrity. I turn around for the millionth time, Why are you
following me? I questioned the clueless duckling.

Examples Of Realism In The Outcasts
The Outcasts of Poker Flat , by Bret Harte and Miniver Cheevy , by Edgar Arlington Robinson are
great examples of realism. Realism is often uses grim depictions of reality and draws portraits from
real life. A common thing that readers see in realism is that outside forces are always at odds with the
main characters. In these writings, the reader will see how realism and naturalism is portrayed in The
Outcasts of Poker Flat and Miniver Cheevy .
Realism is used in The Outcasts of Poker Flat in many ways. Local Color is used to show that the
people in the town were there in search of gold. Harte reveals to the reader the conflict between the
outcasts and society. Poker Flat was having a moral decline and a secret committee had been

The poem is about a boy who has had a pretty rough life. The reader can see this when the narrator
refers to Cheevy as a child of scorn. This meant that the people in the community and Cheevy s own
parents did not accept him. The narrator also says that, He wept that he was ever born (Robinson l. 3).
The theme of the poem is reality vs. dreams. The reader sees this when the narrator says that Miniver
loved the time When swords were bright and steeds were prancing (l. 3). The narrator also says that he
dreamed of Thebes and Camelot, / And Priam s neighbors (ll. 11 12). He also says that, Miniver loved

PEG tube to patients is used when incompetent patients stop eating. It is also no evidence that
palliative care would enhance or improve patients condition or relief their starvation and dehydration

artificial feeding via PEG has no evidence to improve dying patients comfort or dignity. In fact, fluid

Religion And Religion In Ron Howard s Angels And Demons
Emphasising the position of the Catholic Church as well as science and development, Ron Howard s
Angels Demons illustrates the universal components alongside the intrinsic struggle in a modern
society from a unique perspective. Centered around the Harvard symbologist, Professor Robert
Langdon, alongside C.E.R.N physicist, Vittoria Vetra, the plot reestablishes the legend of Illuminati
through showcasing the latter s struggle with the Catholic Church. While Langdon protects the church
from an outside threat of explosion and an inside threat of the Camerlengo, the audience is enchanted
by not only the plot twists but also the featured art and architecture. Representing the cults and
societies presented in the movie, the art plays a significant part in the overall plot alongside the
multiple themes illustrated in the story. Explicating effective instances of social changes and
functions, Ron Howard s 2009 film Angels Demons evidently presents a commentary on the struggles
between religion and science from a symbolic interaction perspective. Exhibiting an ancient conflict
under a contemporary light, the movie Angels Demons highlights the characteristics of modern society
in regards to its antique counterpart. Presenting countless instances of alterations in society in terms of
not only behavioural patterns but also cultural values, the movie elaborates on the social statics as well
as social dynamics. Defined by Auguste Comte, social statics is the study of social

Differences Between The Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
When examining the story of the Biblical flood, it is essential to point out that there are other flood
stories in Ancient Near Eastern cultures. In fact, there are up to sixty eight different cultures with
stories of a great flood! It is important for one to see how each flood story affects and influences one
another. For example, it is evident that the Babylonian culture influenced the writer of the Biblical
flood story, which was made hundreds of years after the making of the Babylonian story. One of the
greatest examples of this is in The Epic of Gilgamesh , a Babylonian story that includes the tale of
Utnapishtim, a man some would like to say is similar to the character Noah in a few ways. Both men

As stated in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , each story has unique elements, and the
differences from the Biblical story are often more striking than the similarities . For example, in the
Atrahasis Epic, one of the gods in the story punishes humanity because of the amount of noise made.
Additionally, in The Epic of Gilgamesh, the god Enlil destroys the city where Utnapishtim is living
in(presumably furious with mankind). In the Genesis Flood Story, the Yahwist version depicts YHWH
as regretting His creation, while the Priestly version depicts God as tired of human evil and corruption.
In all three stories, the different gods send the flood for similar reasons; they are either angry or
annoyed by humanity. However, this is where the similarities end. The god in the Book of Genesis
floods the world in the pursuit of justice/regret, while the god in Atrahasis is angry for a less
significant offense. Though flooding the world is an unjustified action, it is interesting that a god
would be irritated enough at noise to want to eradicate humanity. These stories are all more intriguing
when compared because it helps us to better understand the motivations of each being that causes the
flood event.Again, in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , the author talks about how
each of these stories have a different religious interpretation than the

Hot Fuzz Culture
Hot Fuzz is a film that was made in 2007 in the United Kingdom. The film was heavily influenced by
the culture in which it was made, and artistically influenced by the directing style. It is fitting, since
two very British men wrote the movie for the United Kingdom specifically. It was written by Simon
Pegg and Edgar Wright, both natives. In an interview, Wright stated, We wanted to make a cop film in
the UK, because there isn t really any tradition of cop films in the UK. So, it was absolutely none like
the sort of the ones in the 80 s and then very few in the 70 s. We ve got a lot of TV cop shows, but we

He says, ...for example youths are seen as a constant problem throughout the film. This reflecting the
opinion of the British public. They are reflected as a negative in this film, seen wearing tracksuits,
hoodies, and suspect to graffiti. These are to an extent true representation of youths in Britain. More
social context is being used during the film with the supermarket being build. The town is small and
seems to be very home grown and for there to be a Somerfield there is unusual and was also occurring
around Britain at the time, (Knapp). This film is reflecting on the deeper issues of Britain at the time.
There is a distinct gap between the generations of the film. The Neighborhood Watch Alliance thinks
the biggest issue in the film is the youth loitering; not their own murders. This is a sometimes hidden
joke because the watch shares its initials with the N.W.A rap group. That group tries to appeal to the
younger generation whereas the film s N.W.A does not. The watch would also rather get the youth
drunk, illegally, in a pub rather than let them roam the streets. During the 2000 s in Britain, the youth
was being seen more and more as a nuisance to the older generations. The children, though, help to
foil the plan of the older generation making them seem a little like the Mystery Inc. from Scooby doo.

  • 2. All-Majors Career Fair Job Analysis Last week I attended the Kennesaw State University All Majors Career Fair. This event took place in the Dr. Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation and Activities Center. I had several tables that I wanted to visit. However, there three recruiters that I received signatures from were Peace Corps, Kohl s and Bright Horizon Family Solutions. I believe that each of these job opportunities could use a Psychology major. I say this because psychology can be applied to nearly every job. The Peace Corps table had a recruiter by the name of Todd H. I came to this booth because a huge aspect of this company is to gain leadership experiences. I believe that I could gain more experience in this department because leadership is not one of my best qualities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I recognize that I don t have the most professional look at this point in my life. Having a tattoo on my left forearm and a side shave can be a hit or miss in the work field. Some in employers can view it as a way to add character or diversity to their company. While others may turn their nose up at the sight and immediately reject me on the spot. In this situation, jobs that involve psychology directly would most likely not accept this look. I struggled with accepting this and attempted to hide my less professional aspects. I washed my hair so that I could flip my part in an attempt to cover my side shave. Even though it was hot in the gym, I still wore a sweater that covered my tattoo. These precautions actually made me feel less confident and created more self conscious thoughts. I had to constantly remember not to tuck my hair behind my ear or push my sleeves up my arm. Both of these actions would result in exposing my unprofessional tattoo and hair. I also feared that I would become noticeable sweaty because a room full of college students, interviewing for future jobs can heat up even the best air conditioned room. I was also self conscious about that fact that I had recently bitten my nails. Believe it or not, but a lot of recruiters pay attention to even the tiniest of details, such as the maintenance of your finger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Police And Criminal Evidence Act In this essay I will be describing some key legislation that has been put in place to protect citizens rights within society. Legal Rights The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (1984) The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) lays out the rights of suspects and the powers of the police. The act is split up into 8 sections, together the act covers: stop and search, arrest, detention, investigation, identification and interviewing detainees. The fist section is code A; this states a police officer s powers to search a person or vehicle before making an arrest, stating where and how this should be completed. If the police suspects that someone has committed a crime they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The length of time in which a suspect is detained should be kept to a minimum, meaning the search should be carried out quickly, also whilst trying to minimise embarrassment. An officer should treat the person being searched, with respect, using their powers fairly and not showing discrimination. The next section is code B; this covers the power to search premises, seize and retain items found on premises and people. An officer might have a search warrant, issued by a justice of the peace, granting powers of entry, search and seizure; this could be to search for stolen property, evidence of serious crimes, drugs and weapons. The police also have the powers to search a property without a warrant in order to make an arrest or after an arrest. However entry, search and seizure should be justified before being carried out as the Human Rights Act 1998 state the right to privacy and respect for personal property and there might be another way to meet the objectives of the search which aren t as intrusive. The Powers to search and seize must be used respectfully, fairly and without unlawful discrimination. This code links with code A, as if a person isn t arrested but is searched whilst conducting the search of the property, it must be carried out following code A. The ... • 5. Prison Reform In The 1800 s Prisons in America have been around for many years. They have been around since the 1600 s. The prisons in the 1600 s were small local jails for people who were waiting for trial. Punishment for people who went to jail during this time were executed, tortured and penalized. In the late 1600 s the death penalty was allowed for those who committed a murder. The other crimes only consisted of labor and fines as punishment. In the 1700 s jails became an extremely unsafe place. The inmates in the jails were tortured until they became insane. Later in the 1800 s, incarceration was used as punishment for individuals who committed a severe crime. However, this was an issue for the legislature because they did not want to finance the prisons. The prisons purpose was to help inmates morally and fix their character instead of cruelly punishing them. It was popular during the 1800 s for prisons to be a place of reform. The punishment of hard labor was used to shape the inmates into self disciplined individuals. • 6. My Visit to the Brooklyn Museum During my visit to the Brooklyn Museum, I found it both intriguing and informative. The layout of the exhibition was divided into about three to four sections. Each section of the museum represented a movement of the 60 s. The themes represented were segregation of blacks and whites, how they tried to gain equality and the changes they anticipated would happen in the future. The artwork throughout the exhibit was displayed in a varying gradient of black and white to colors. The type of background information provided in the exhibit were captions under each artwork specifying the artists name, the year and time it was created and what message the artwork was trying to portray. I did find the information that was provided to me helpful because it gave me an insight on to what the specific artwork was about and the message it was trying to convey to the me, the viewer. One artwork I observed in this exhibit was David Hammons (American, b. 1943). The Door (Admissions Office), 1969. In this photograph it shows a body pressed against a door trying to gain entry into an admissions office. The main character is a young African American boy. The role the character plays is a student trying to get admissions into a White school. During this time the U.S. Federal Government implemented school desegregation throughout the nation in 1954. White communities did not like the idea of this and tried blocking black students from attending these white schools. The photo brings out a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upon making contact with both arrestees, I observed them sweating profusely and shaking. It was obvious to me that both were nervous of police presence. It should be noted the driver will be referred to as arrestee 1 and the passenger as arrestee 2. I then asked arrestee 1 for his driver s license, registration, and proof of insurance at which point the arrestee advised, fuck you I m not giving you shit, it s not a crime to drive with no lights on. I then asked the arrestee if he had any form of id in his possession at which point he refused and advised, this is bullshit, I plead the fifth I know my rights officer. It s easy to see why a person would get the two confused, there are some amazing similarities. However, once you have explored each structure in a bit more depth, you wonder how you could have confused them in the first place. The Parthenon was constructed during the Arthenian empire beginning in 447 B.C. and completed in 432 B.C. (Silverman, 2015) Using elements from both the Doric and Ionic orders, it optimizes Greek architecture with a sculpted frieze (band of sculptures near the roof) depicting Greek Gods and Goddesses, making this a distinctly Greek building. The other elements that make this building very Greek are the columns and the multiple statues of gods and goddesses. The Parthenon was built as a temple to the goddess Athena; the sculptor Phedias was responsible for the massive statue placed in the temple. Steve Stewart Williams, after looking at many arguments for and against life after death, tends to believe that he does not have a ghost of a chance (Stewart Williams). I tend to agree with this thinking as well. Stewart Williams shows some cases for life after death and then shows some arguments against it. The quote Now I m more alone than ever before... (Keyes 235). This shows he had depression. People often think that since Charlie was smarter and could accomplish more after the surgery that he was more liked previously, but most people didn t like him and were uncomfortable with him. For example, he even lost his job because people didn t want him there because they were uncomfortable with him. Dr. Nemur appears to be uncomfortable around me. When I was learning these behaviours, skills and attributes, one question that I asked from myself was, Do I possess these characteristics? . It made me to do a self analysis. Accordingly, I stepped back to my past to discover my personal tendency to become an entrepreneur. Though I have not engaged in an enterprise or enterprise related activity earlier, I found certain entrepreneurial characteristics inside me. Smoking In Public Places Smoking Ban Backlash Walking down Boston s Boylston Street at the late hours of the evening, the sidewalks are crowded with smokers taking their last hauls before entering the bars for a night of drinking. Due to the smoking ban in all public work areas that has been in effect since May of 2003, restaurant and bar patrons of Boston bear the cold winter season approaching, and reminisce about the old days where it was legal to enjoy a smoke with a cocktail at a bar. Only five months after the Boston ban took place discussions of a statewide ban immediately began, and as it gets closer to 2004,the state of Massachusetts inches it s way closer to a statewide ban. The Senate recently joined the House of Representatives in backing the statewide ban. The two branches of legislature will meet in January to revise a draft of the bill for the statewide ban, which will most likely pass in early 2004 and take effect July 5, 2004, making Massachusetts the 6th state to ban smoking statewide. California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, and New York have already passed similar bans. Governor Mitt Romney will ultimately decide the state bans fate, yet he has not confirmed which way he leans on this issue. Many Boston bar and club owners who opposed a city ban now look forward to the statewide ban in hopes that clientele will return, but most owners had no problem with the smoking to begin with. I d rather have smoking be allowed to make the customers happy, said Irish born Milan O Shay, a bartender at the Flann O Brian s Pub in Mission Hill. But since that won t be happening, a statewide ban gives less of competitive edge to the other towns in the area that have yet to ban smoking. Today, I stop by the lake to grab a quick drink to quench my thirst. I was staring at the water and lost in my thoughts until a high pitched squeaky voice startled me, Are you a hybrid of polar bear and a black bear? I turn around and look down, I come face to face with an ugly creature, which I assume is the owner of the squeaky voice. Upon closer look I recognize the ugly creature as a petite mandarin duckling. He then open his beak again asking the exact same question with the identical agitating voice Mr. Panda, are you a hybrid of polar bear and a black bear? No, I m not, I responded with a monotone voice. The duckling keeps staring at me for what seems like eternity. The silence combine with the staring is too much for me to comprehend, so I walk away from it. Few seconds later... SNAP! I stop walking, I slowly turn around and my heart almost stopped when I discover that the duckling was following me along. I kindly asked the duckling Can you please stop following me? I turn around and continue walking but the duckling is still behind my trail. This time I walk the opposite direction, I m heading towards the lake, I peek around behind and the duckling is still tailing me like I m some sort of celebrity. The authors also argue that artificial feeding via PEG has no evidence to improve dying patients comfort or dignity. In fact, fluid overload might reduce their comfort. In addition, authors held that in practice, palliative care is provided to the terminal phase of care patients to omit medically administered nutrition and hydration . • 38. Differences Between The Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh When examining the story of the Biblical flood, it is essential to point out that there are other flood stories in Ancient Near Eastern cultures. In fact, there are up to sixty eight different cultures with stories of a great flood! It is important for one to see how each flood story affects and influences one another. For example, it is evident that the Babylonian culture influenced the writer of the Biblical flood story, which was made hundreds of years after the making of the Babylonian story. One of the greatest examples of this is in The Epic of Gilgamesh , a Babylonian story that includes the tale of Utnapishtim, a man some would like to say is similar to the character Noah in a few ways. Both men are ultimately called upon by a being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , each story has unique elements, and the differences from the Biblical story are often more striking than the similarities . For example, in the Atrahasis Epic, one of the gods in the story punishes humanity because of the amount of noise made. Additionally, in The Epic of Gilgamesh, the god Enlil destroys the city where Utnapishtim is living in(presumably furious with mankind). In the Genesis Flood Story, the Yahwist version depicts YHWH as regretting His creation, while the Priestly version depicts God as tired of human evil and corruption. In all three stories, the different gods send the flood for similar reasons; they are either angry or annoyed by humanity. However, this is where the similarities end. The god in the Book of Genesis floods the world in the pursuit of justice/regret, while the god in Atrahasis is angry for a less significant offense. Though flooding the world is an unjustified action, it is interesting that a god would be irritated enough at noise to want to eradicate humanity. These stories are all more intriguing when compared because it helps us to better understand the motivations of each being that causes the flood event.Again, in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , the author talks about how each of these stories have a different religious interpretation than the ... The film was heavily influenced by the culture in which it was made, and artistically influenced by the directing style. It is fitting, since two very British men wrote the movie for the United Kingdom specifically. It was written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, both natives. In an interview, Wright stated, We wanted to make a cop film in the UK, because there isn t really any tradition of cop films in the UK. So, it was absolutely none like the sort of the ones in the 80 s and then very few in the 70 s. We ve got a lot of TV cop shows, but we wanted to make a cop film. They are reflected as a negative in this film, seen wearing tracksuits, hoodies, and suspect to graffiti. These are to an extent true representation of youths in Britain. More social context is being used during the film with the supermarket being build. The town is small and seems to be very home grown and for there to be a Somerfield there is unusual and was also occurring around Britain at the time, (Knapp). This film is reflecting on the deeper issues of Britain at the time. There is a distinct gap between the generations of the film. The Neighborhood Watch Alliance thinks the biggest issue in the film is the youth loitering; not their own murders. This is a sometimes hidden joke because the watch shares its initials with the N.W.A rap group. That group tries to appeal to the younger generation whereas the film s N.W.A does not. The watch would also rather get the youth drunk, illegally, in a pub rather than let them roam the streets. During the 2000 s in Britain, the youth was being seen more and more as a nuisance to the older generations. The children, though, help to foil the plan of the older generation making them seem a little like the Mystery Inc. from Scooby doo. While the children did break minor laws, they ...
