1. Army Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of the military poses a unique set of challenges. First and
foremost, the subject matter itself is vast, encompassing a wide range of historical events,
organizational structures, and societal implications. As a writer, you need to navigate through
this expansive landscape to pinpoint the specific aspects you wish to address.
Furthermore, delving into the world of the army demands a thorough understanding of its
intricacies, including its history, various branches, roles, and the ever-evolving nature of modern
warfare. This necessitates extensive research to ensure that your essay is not only informative but
also accurate and up-to-date.
The challenge intensifies when attempting to strike a balance between the technical aspects of
military operations and the human stories behind them. Balancing the macro and micro
perspectives requires finesse to present a comprehensive yet engaging narrative.
In addition to content, the essay must adhere to the conventions of academic writing, with a
clear introduction, well-structured body paragraphs, and a concise conclusion. Proper citation of
sources, whether historical documents or contemporary analyses, is crucial to establish the
essay's credibility.
Moreover, the sensitive nature of the topic necessitates a nuanced approach. Addressing the
ethical, political, and social dimensions of the army requires careful consideration of diverse
perspectives, avoiding oversimplification or biased portrayals.
Ultimately, crafting an essay on the army demands not only writing skills but also a deep
understanding of military history, strategy, and societal implications. It is a task that requires
dedication, thorough research, and a commitment to presenting a well-rounded view of the
subject.
For those seeking assistance in navigating the complexities of such topics, various resources are
available. Whether it's accessing additional materials, seeking guidance on structuring the essay,
or even having a custom essay tailored to specific requirements, HelpWriting.net offers a
platform for support in academic endeavors.

Ever since I was younger I want to be a police officer. However, my switch to

3. Johnny Cash Biography
The Man in Black
An individual can impact society in a positive or possibly negative manner and
Johnny Cash definitely had an impactful life. He was born into a poor, nominal,
farming family. Cash had a difficult childhood and his music surely inspired many.
Although, he had a great career, he, no doubt, made many mistakes. He was
certainly a leader, and, in the eyes of many, will always be.
John R. Cash was born in Kingsland, Arkansas on February 26th, 1932 when the
Great Depression was well under way. He was born into a sharecropping family
who grew cotton. When he was only three, Cash and his family moved from
Kingsland to Dyess Colony, a federal program that relocated able farmers to a cotton
farming cooperative in northwestern Arkansas. ... Show more content on

This old picture of Tiadaghton was taken in 1902.

Tiadaghton. This picture can also be seen with its labeling description at the Darling

In the photo, we can see a New York Central train travelling south. The train is

Workplace Violence in Health Care
Morgan L. Hofmeister
Baker University School of Nursing
Abstract
This research paper discusses workplace violence, specifically the nursing
population. Using results from previous research conducted, negative factors
impacting a nurse and solutions to this issue are explored. There is a lack of
reporting causing this issue of workplace violence to be difficult to determine
interventions and bring about public awareness. Looking at the historical background
of workplace violence in health care settings, researching the emotional and physical
effects on nurses, discovering the effects on work competency, and uncovering the
facts on federal legislation of this issue warrants the importance ... Show more content

Besides using governmental data and statistics to compile information regarding
workplace violence in health care settings, voluntary surveys are taken (Stokowski,
2010). These surveys and reports of violence are usually unreliable due to the nurse
s lack of ability to remember the incident, fear of affecting patient satisfaction scores,
uneducated on the reporting policy, or concern for questioned competency
(Stokowski, 2010). It is said that seventy percent of physical abuse towards nurses
are unreported and many nurses never seek treatment (Stokowski, 2010). The
hesitancy to report is sensible when incidents reported reviewed are often questioned
by the nurse s actions and solutions are addressed to prevent another occurrence
(Stokowski, 2010). These approaches administered by health care facilities imply that
the nurse is at fault. Sadly, nurses are often reprimanded or fired defending
themselves against violence (Stokowski, 2010).
Physical Impact
An Emergency Nurses Association study found that, every week between eight to
thirteen percent of emergency department nurses are victims of physical violence
(Trossman, p. 6, 2010). The physical repercussions of violence can include a physical
injury, anger, chronic pain, loss of sleep, disability, muscle tension, anxiety,
irritability, and nightmares (Gates,

Renaissance era, the point of view for humanism was individuals are enhanced

After Vincent Van Gogh s death, Theo s wife took the initiative to show his work to

In the time period of 1870 1914 there were many cultural and historical events that
occurred. In 1871, the Franco Prussian War arose affecting the second French empire
destroyed by Prussia, the German Empire proclaiming a treaty signed in Versailles
creating humiliation for France. In the early 1900 s the 2nd Industrial Revolution
created many opportunities for individuals. For instance transportation, the
automobile was created and it was more convenient for the individual to get from
place to place. For an artists perspective an automobile can take them wherever and
whenever to paint whatever inspired them. Electricity was also available in the 2nd
Industrial Revolution. Vincent Van Gogh could tell a significant difference with his
painting if he was using natural lighting or studio lighting. Besides electricity,

9. The Struggle Of Catholicism In Fifteenth Century Europe
Before fifteenth century, the existence of Catholicism had been the most predominant
force in Europe regarding not only spiritually leading the people but also effectively
controlling numerous of political and social aspects (Bireley,226). Art and literature
were contributed to the spreading and accentuating of Catholic dogmas. Being
granted by such sovereignty, popes, such as PopeGregory VII, even had the power to
excommunicate kings, and thus publicly humiliated the secular leaders
(Schipper,120). However, after fifteenth century, the power of the popes along with
Christendom itself was significantly diminished. The power struggle between the
secular and religious leaders was a cardinal reason for the drastic power decline of

When catholic countries such as Spain joined the war, helping the Holy Roman
Empire to defeat the remaining protestant power in order to gain religious unity,
France was averse to the situation, for any sign of unification of the Holy Roman
Empire could infect the safety of France. As the political rival of Spain, France
then made a bold yet candid decision to protect itself. Thus, though as a catholic
country, France, along with Sweden, entered the war on the Protestant side (Philip,
52). According to french king Henry IV: Paris is well worth a Mass , for the
significance political safety was exceeding the importance of religion itself. The
decision made by France was sign of abandoning religious recognition for political
benefits (Asch,51), while risking being censored by papal supremacy.
Hardly was it difficult to observe the power shifts from religious leaders to secular
leaders. The disputations over taxing rights first raised dissatisfactory and indignation
towards the catholic church, while then inspiring rebellions and creating
Protestantism. The conversion of King Henry VIII was a public challenge to
Catholicism from secular leaders, convincing more people to become protestants.
Finally, the political intention of France entering the Thirty Years War
10. Association between Air Polluiton and Lung Cancer
Many epidemiologic studies have found an association between ambient air
pollution and lung cancer. This evidence lead the International Agency for Research
on Cancer (IARC) to report air pollution as a category 1 or definite cause of cancer.
The IARC reviewed over 1000 studies from five continents and covering many
different scientific fields. They concluded that air pollutionis linked to increased
cancer incidence, with lung cancerbeing the most prevalent (Pope, 2013).
Air pollution occurs when the air is contaminated by foreign substances. These
substances can be liquid or solid and they are small enough that they remain
suspended in the air. Some of the substances can be toxic chemicals which can
include sulphur dioxide (SO2), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), ozone (O3), volatile
organic compounds and suspended particulate matter (PM).
When talking about air pollution we categorize the particles with the term
particulate matter (PM). Suspended particulate matter (PM) is divided into three
groups based on the diameter of the particle. PM2.5 refers to particles with a
diameter less that 2.5 micrometers (Вµm), PM10 classifies particles with a
diameter between 2.5 and 10 Вµm, and PM10 defines particles with a diameter
greater than 10 Вµm. The relative risk of developing cancer as a result of exposure
to air pollution is generally small, but the attributable risk (relative risk multiplied by
the number of exposed people) is high. Because exposure is so high ambient air

Strict punctuality is perhaps the cheapest virtue which can give force to an otherwise
utterly insignificant character. (J.F. Boyes) Punctuality is one of the cornerstones of
the American Capitalist mindset. From birth, being on time is constantly stressed as
a necessary skill that is needed to truly be successful in the world. Lateness is not a
tolerated from school, work, and even outings with friends. Even for the most loyal
friend and employee chronic failure to arrive on timecould lead to the demise of a
relationship with the other party. No matter the excuse or reason Lateness is
defined as arriving at a setting after the start of a scheduled event. (Harrison and
Price 2003, p.205). Consequently immediately after the event starts or it passes
the time someone either agreed or was told to be somewhere they are late. Mastery
of this skill is not easily achieved which is self evident, as a majority of the
population knows someone who is never on time, or may even be that individual
themselves. Unfortunately people who are constantly late have a bad stigma
associated with themselves. Adjectives like rude, inconsiderate, and lazy are
constantly being thrown in their direction. Though the blame may be of no fault of
their own. What causes this pattern of disregard for the strict standards everyone
else listens to that time places? Ranging from early, on time, and late, the
classification time sets on an arrival leaves little room for error if one still hopes to
still be
12. How Did Jane Addams Contribute To Social Reform
One of America s most prominent social activists, Jane Addams dedicated her
whole life to the poor and social reform. Born on September 6, 1860 in Cedarville,
Illinois, Jane grew up to become one of the most notable college educated women
of her time. Utilizing her education, Addams developed her own political and
social beliefs and applied them to society during the Progressive Era, leading to
many reforms that have shaped our world today. Although Addams has done many
impeccable things, one of her most distinguishable actions was co founding Hull
House with her friend Ellen Gates Starr in 1889. Hull House is a settlement house
in Chicago, Illinois, inspired by the Toynbee Hall she visited in England. Opening
Hull House, Addams expected the settlement to be a place where the poor could
attend cultural programs, such as art, however her ideas changed as she explored the
city and got to know her neighbors. While walking down the streets of Chicago, the
reformer noticed all the poor immigrants residing in the cramped and dirty tenements,
which led to her newfound passion to help... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking political action, Jane Addams set forth toward goals of creating laws for
better and safer work conditions. By talking to political leaders, with great ambition,
Jane Addams persisted to create changes to benefit the community. Along with
political actions, Addams also used her writing and lectures to urge a new social
ethic and strongly advocated for women s right to vote to further close the margin she
needed to pass her ideas. With her constant push and with Hull House sponsoring
many legislations regarding children, workers, and the environment, the Progressive
party also adopted many of those reforms, incorporating them into their platform in
1912, and in turn expanded Jane Addams

Revolution
Putin and Orange Revolution
24 September 2011 was a significant day when Vladimir Putin announced that he
would run again for president. That was the first open and clear statement that there
is no hesitation and he is the next Russian president. It became clear for many
Russians that their opinion was disregarded, that nothing actually depended on their
votes and nothing would change. The following government election and protest
actions have drawn attention of the whole world including common Russians, whose
political interest and activity had not been always the same before.

Tet Offensive The Tet Offensive received its name from the Vietnamese Lunar New
Year, the American public and further holiday called Tet (Tet Offensive n.p.).The
series of surprise attacks that the North Vietnam and Viet Cong forces launched to
attack many of South Vietnam cities and U.S. Embassy in Saigon is known today as
the Tet Offensive. The Tet Offensive played a role in the Vietnam War and was
considered to many Americans, soldiers, and even the President as a turning point in
the war. The United States and South Vietnamforces were allies and managed to hold
off the surprise communist attacks. The Tet Offensive led into The Battle of Hue, a
lengthy battle that shocked and dismayed the American public and further eroded
support for the war effort (Tet Offensive n.p.). The Tet Offensive lead to many
difficulties throughout the Vietnam War. It was a victory to North Vietnam and Viet
Cong forces, leaving damage to much of South Vietnam. January 30, 1968, 70,000
North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces had launched the Tet Offensive, which were
fierce surprise attacks to Central South Vietnam. These attacks established many of
the first views that Americans had seen first hand that were put out for them to see.
General Vo Nguyen Giap, leader of the Communist People s Army of Vietnam

South Vietnamese population and encourage the United States to scale back its

questions. In many ways the Gospel of Mark and Gospel of Matthew , will leave
you wondering? Three main points at which will be explained in some verses. As
they are; what are the roles of the people involved, what can the events say about
discipleship in Christianity, and what do these events say about what it means to be

points behind what many others wonder. In the GospelMark, we see a particular event

crossing the sea we find Jesus stern (Mark, 4:38) asleep on a cushion, unaware of
what is happening at sea. As the boat begin to fill with water from the waves

16. Isolation In George Orwell s Ingsoc
In 1984 by George Orwell, Winston Smith lives in a communist society, known as
Ingsoc, where the totalitarian government oversees each aspect of human life. This
regime, known as The Party, procures its power from shattering the relationships that
hold individuals together. From the beginning, children are instructed to eavesdrop on
their parents and expose them as enemies of the state for exhibiting the slightest of
unorthodoxy. Moreover, loyalty towards the state supersedes even the trust between
friends and spouses, eliciting a perpetual fear of being denounced as criminals. Thus,
betrayal of loved ones allows for unrestricted subjugation of the populace through of
isolation. To begin with, the Party implants in children a tendency of strictly abiding

parents. When Winston witnesses his neighbors children, he depicts them as
ungovernable little savages senselessly adoring the Party (Orwell 24). Prior to the
Party upheaval, bonds between members are nearly unbreakable due to the innate
devotion to the family prevailing over all others. However, in Ingsoc, the Party

member who influenced Winston s life over the course of 7 years. When Winston is
arrested by the Thought Police, O Brien becomes Winston s torturer, abandoning the
disguise of being Winston s friend and a rebel. Therefore, the Party quells resistance
through isolation in a society where all others are utterly loyal to the
17. Modern Day Lawn Mower Research Paper
The Evolutions of the Modern Day Lawn Mower Before the time of the lawn
mower, there was grass and sheep, and the sheep ate the grass. The grass was
short, but the process wasn t very efficient. For places, such as Utah, this was fine,
but in more settled areas this lack of a lawn mower caused a problem for
landowners. Then, Edwin Budding observed a cutter used in cloth factories for
removing the nap from fabric. Budding s brainstorm was around 1830, when
gardeners typically used scythes to trim turf. For the best results, the job had to be
done when the ground was wet with dew early in the morning or late at night. A less
than careful effort might leave telltale, unattractive marks from the scythe. When
Budding s idea became a reality, it freed the workers to cut turf at more convenient
hours. Budding and his partner received a patent for his lawn mower. The machine
was obnoxious for modern standards. It was difficult to use in many cases, two
persons were needed: one to push, one to pull.... Show more content on

Power mowers were only as effective as the strength and stamina of the person or
animal pulling or pushing the machine. That began to change in the 1890s, as
inventors and manufacturers looked at ways to bring engine power to mowing. A
steam powered mower was introduced in the 1890s, but it was heavy, noisy and
hard to control and maneuver. Just after the turn of the century, gasoline powered
machines became available and unlocked the door to productivity. Engine power
made rotary blades more feasible on mowers. Engines could provide the power to
spin the rotary blade fast enough to cut the turf effectively. Rotaries became more
popular after World War II, as engines became cheaper and more powerful for
residents in Utah, and the accelerating migration to the suburbs meant more people
had larger lawns to maintain. Rotary machines were cheaper to make and

General Instructions for All Written Assignments
Each week you will have a short written assignment. Though each assignment is
slightly different, this should serve as general instructions for all assignments.
Formatting: All assignments should be completed as Microsoft Word documents.
They should be between 2 and 3 pages and be double spaced with standard
indentation. The font should be size 12, Times New Roman. You should create a
short title page including your name, the date, the assignment title, and the instructor
s name. The page limit does NOT include the title page or bibliography.
Writing: Your writing should demonstrate both a factual understanding of the topic at

+ Unsatisfactory (less than 14 points). The student does not know enough facts about
the argument, and does not use clear logic to support the facts they do know.
20 Points for Formatting
Formatting refers to the student s ability to communicate effectively within the
paper. This refers to grammar, proper formatting of the document, and syntax. A
student also receives credit for having the proper page length (2 3 pages). A paper
with three or less mistakes will receive 15 19 points. A paper with multiple minor
mistakes will receive anywhere between 10 14 points, while a paper which is
presented too poorly to be considered a college level paper will receive anywhere
from 0 13 points.
I cannot overemphasize the importance of formatting in the written assignments.
Always make certain to use spell checker and to reread your paper at least two times
before submitting. You will be amazed at the number of mistakes you will catch this
way.
10 Points for Sources
Sources must be formatted properly in APA or MLA style. There is no set amount of
sources needed, but a student must remember that they should be able to back up
each statement with a reliable source. If you are using dates, statistics, or facts that
are not common knowledge, it is usually proper to use a citation. Also, the quality of
sources will be graded. Remember, Wikipedia and other open encyclopedias are NOT
credible sources. Be careful what you cite!

1) Which pedagogy is most comfortable for you and your current teaching style?
What about this pedagogy appeals to you most?
The project based learning pedagogy appeals to me the most. I am typically a hands
on learner who likes to research and gather information. I think this is an excellent
learning strategy because it allows students to get involved in their learning process
rather than just receiving information. For example, at my internship site, I am
observing a 9th grade earth science class, and it is apparent that the students are
bored, which is why there are so many behavioral problems in the classroom. I notice
students sleeping, listening to music, texting and being disruptive, primarily because
they are not actively engaging

Interestingly, 1991, the year when Nintendo launched the highly popular Super NES

US, was also the year that saw Nintendo s vision become Sony s opportunity and
the creation of what could be described as Nintendo s greatest challenge for over a

into their Super

two years, conflicts of vision between Nintendo and Sony continued, and the two
finally parted ways.
Nintendo went ahead with Philips technology, 4 and Sony was left with the PS,
which the company decided to continue developing. Given Sony s clout and
resources, when the PS and its wide range of games were finally released in Japan in
1994, the console was an instant resounding success. In 1995, Sony released the PS

For many years, Nintendo had been a dominant player in the video game industry.
It had sold more than two billion games since 1985. Its top selling series included

21. Effects Of Race Riots On Urban African Americans
Urban Blacks were also encounter with extreme racial violence in neighborhoods
and at work. Different ethnic groups of new immigrants obtained power and used
conflict as a strategy of diminishing urban Blacks power level. They began blocking
Urban Black workers going to work throughout new immigrant s neighborhoods. Race
riots have played a crucial role in the social establishment of race, prejudice, and
discriminationacross the United States. Race riots uncovered fundamental tensions
in societies experiencing swift technological and economic changes. In 1920, there
were many race riots and other violence in many places, such as Red Summer Race
Riots of 1919 and the St. Louis Riot of 1917 that took place during the segregation
in the South and the Black urban migration to the North. These race riots were
response to the reality that Urban Blacks were carrying on a powerful struggle
against White supremacy. During race riots, Urban Blacks lived through a renewed
flow of riots, massacres, and racial terrorism.
Before the race riots broke out in Chicago, tension between two communities were
high and resulted 1919 Chicago Race Riot, which Black teenager called Eugene

death caused one of the worst riots in American history because 37 people died, 500

The prison systems, which are assessed as the most violent in the world, are
extremely overcrowded and often controlled by gang leaders. It is estimated that
there is one gun for every two residents in Venezuela. Backing this claim is the fact
that statistically Venezuela has the second highest crime rate in the world. In 2014
approximately 25,000 homicides occurred, a rate of 82 homicides per 100,000
inhabitants overall. Certain cities reflect a higher rate. Caracas, for example,
reported 5,200 victims which equates to 134 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in
2014. Bottom line, government efforts to dismantle or displace criminal activity
has failed. Crime rates continue to soar certainly adversely affecting regional
stability and economic prosperity. Violent crimes exist in both prosperous and
deprived areas as well. The deprived areas are often referred to as barrios . It is in
the barrios where organized crime leaders and street gangs set up operations. Due to
criminal control or ownership of these areas, local authorities are not often capable of
entering, making these areas safe havens for the criminally minded. This allows the
freedom of movement within the area and results in mass criminal

In soil, Pb is relatively immobile and remains in the surface horizon for many years

in roadside soil and in proportion to historical traffic flows, although over the year

the heavily trafficked inner areas having the highest concentrations and decreasing

Across England, urban areas typically have higher soil background concentrations
of Pb than the surrounding countryside; Ander et al 2013 suggested an overall

recent high density geochemical soil survey of the Greater London Area (GLA;

Every work environment is teeming with people from various generations. Though,
the majority of people wish for a healthy work environment this is not the easiest to
come by. People from these different generations have different ways of looking at
the world. They were raised differently and though theoretically wantthe same things
they want to reach these goals in different ways. Rising to leadership, the
understanding of technology, adapting in the workplace, and communication are the
four criteria you needto know to understand how the people of Generation X and
Millennials function together in the workplace. In a work environment everybody
wants to climb the totem pole. For Millennials, they want to rise to leadership
without working too hard for it. They are trying to reach the leadership positions
as fast as they can and at times they are unprepared for the position they enter
because they have not experienced enough along the way. Where Millennials are
too fast to rise to leadership, people considered to be Generation X, who are known
for their hard work ethic and experience are often complacent in the workplace.
Though they gained their experience (unlike Millennials) by working their way up
the chain of command and gradually paying their dues and though they also do not
expect to be handed a higher position, like Millennials who feel entitled to higher
positions in the workplace, they are also not as motivated as Millennials. (Bresman)

27. Examples Of Methodism In Relation To Globalization
Methodism in Relation to Globalization Globalization and religion are two aspects
that coincide with each other in numerous ways. A religion is a belief or idea, that
is practiced and followed all over the world to a variety of people. Creating a religion
takes a person to start it, a church to teach and practice it, and people to take the
religion to other areas and spread it to larger audiences in the hopes to make the
religion well known. This is what makes religion relate to globalization in the sense
of how a religion is modified, or adapted, and then spread, primarily in an aim to
carry a religion to various areas.
For centuries religions have been a primary way of presenting a belief, or idea, in a
way that appeals to a vast majority of populations. Religions such as Christianity,
Islam, or Hinduism appeal to a higher mass of people reaching, today, into the
millions or billions. This kind of spread is capable due to a variety of reasons
relating to globalization. Globalization is the integration of new views, cultures,
and people that impact the world in various ways. These impacts can be passive or
active, and implicit or explicit.1 Religions are not changed by globalization,
rather, they are adapted and modified to relate to a larger audience. The United
States is a big contributor to the spread of many large religions that have been
created into some of the most largely spread religions in history. Buddhism, for
example, came to America through immigration of Chinese laborers were brought
to California during the time of the Gold Rush of 1849. This led to Buddhism
being practiced and taught throughout the United States. This presented the fact
that religions come to America and spread greatly across to many people, making
the United States a huge participant in the spread of religions. While religions come
to America to be spread, there are some that may not reach as many people as
wanted. Religions tend to only spread if there are enough people willing to follow
the practices or teach its ways. Without people, a religion can die off and not spread
like that of Christianity or Islam. This why people are what makes religions spread
the most.
Throughout history, religions have been developed and

The term Blood is thicker than water really makes sense here. It is a common

30. Zechariah s The Riddle Of The Annunciation
With the initial exchange between Mary and the Angel resolved, this discussion now
turns its attention to the central point of the Annunciation passage, the announcement
of Christ, and Mary s confusion at this pronouncement. To truly understand that
scriptural passage, it is necessary to discuss the possible reasons for what has been
called The Riddle of the Annunciation, that is, why a girl who is betrothed to be
married and, presumably, understands the origin of children, questions how the Angel
s announcement could pertain to her. The simplest explanation to this question is
also the least satisfying. This is that, for some reason, Mary is ignorant of the way
children are conceived. This does not seem to fit any reasonable reading of the...

He points out that the annunciation format itself generally requires an objecting
question. This could partially explain Zechariah s objection in the previous story in
Luke which this is designed to parallel. However, Landry goes on to note that such
a clunky and unreasonable objection does not seem to fit. Elsewhere, Luke does not
hold himself so slavishly to formal patterns that he damages the flow of his story. It
seems that if Luke were slavishly following the formal pattern for an annunciation, he
would have picked an objection that would not be so confusing or even
indecipherable to his reader. In fact, Landry asserts with Schaberg that those who
immediately jump to Luke simply slavishly following the annunciation format have
given up too soon on the logic of the story. This discussion agrees with that
conclusion; the literary solution ignores Luke s actual text and simply takes the easy

31. Essay about The Ancient Relatives of Mammals
The mammalian line of descent reaches back to over 300 million years. The ancient
relatives of mammals were extremely different in terms of appearance from living
mammals, and are often mistaken for reptiles (for example dinosaurs). In reality
though, these relatives of mammals, called synapsids, are more like mammals than
reptiles. Synapsids are often described as mammallike reptiles because they show both
reptilian and mammalian traits. They lived right before the Mesozoic Era, during the
PermianPeriod (286 251 mya). Synapsids derive their name from the fact that they
had only one temporal opening on each side of the skull (called laterotemporal
fenestrae), just like all mammals. Many synapsids had features that were considered...

They are believed to have hunted larger herbivores in packs (similar to wolves).
Lystrosaurus was another hippo like aquatic creature. Cistecephalus lived
underground, where it most likely dug for insects and worms. Estemmenosuchus was
another Permian carnivore whose skull had many bony outgrowths. According to
Neo Darwinian theory, all the functional diversity (the various synapsid types) was
wiped out as the reptiles of the Mesozoic Era overtook the synapsids. It is usually
said that only the basic structural plan of modern day mammals was derived from
the synapsids. This view is technically flawed because in terms of fossilized remains
(the only basis by which the structure of an extinct animal can be remade), only a
small amount of traits consistently distinguished mammals from reptiles. In damaged
and fragmented fossils, these traits are practically undetectable. So how can one tell
what the basic structural plan that was derived from synapsids was?
Regardless of this, only one thing is known for sure Non mammalian synapsids did
not evolve from reptiles. We know for a fact that non mammalian synapsids have
something to do with the origin of mammals, but what happened to these fascinating
creatures during the Mesozoic Era and how they gave rise to real mammals is
unknown.
The information we have on these unique group of animals is in fact very hazy and
confusing, but perhaps with more researchers and new information, the

Philip II and Peter the Great Philip II of Spain (1527 1598) and Peter the Great of
Russia (1672 1725) are both historic leaders that had a tremendous influence over the
fate of each of their nations. Although from two different time periods, the impact of
their decision making, and temperaments directly dictated and impacted the historical
events of their individual countries. Being that both led during a time where the
desire for power and absolutism in one s country and throughout Europe was at a
high, each ruler used his own methods to increase their strength. Due to the
exorbitant amount of power put upon all leaders, it is clear that a nation s fate is

In addition to suppressing their revolts, Peter successfully undermined the lifestyle of
the boyars, without losing their commitment to the state. He accomplished this with
his establishment of the Table of Ranks, which designated the boyars specific roles
in either the bureaucracy or military, making them workers of the state. These
necessary steps allowed Russia to build a new, strong military force, and a powerful
centralized government. With increasing military strength, Peter the Great initiated
the organization of his new navy. A strong navy, which Russia previously lacked,
was essential to the state, due to the absence of warm water ports. While water does
surround Russia, it is frozen over for the majority of the year, which made trade
relatively impossible at the time. Therefore, capturing other warm water ports was a
necessary step to increase Russian power. This necessity led to conflicts with both the
Ottoman Empire, and the Swedish, who blocked Russia from the ports they desired.
The strong navy that Peter developed, known as the Baltic fleet, had early successes
in capturing Ottoman ports such as Azov; however, its main target was the Swedish
who controlled Baltic Sea. The Swedish King at the time Charles XII, fought against
Peter in the Great Northern War for these ports. In the battle of Poltava, Peter s well
trained fleet successfully crushed the Swedish; and the Russian

In the twentieth century, Monk encountered different kind of racial invisibility
than Bigger Thomas or Invisible Man did. As an African American he was not
condemned for his skin, nor was he denied rights white folks had. Thelonious
Ellison was acknowledged as an African American citizen and enjoyed the rights of
equality and freedom. Nevertheless, the stereotypical blind thinking and
associations to a black man, have come to light when Monk being a black writer
became invisible to the society when he did not write about typical black life .
However, looking more closely we notice that Monk Ellison was struggling for not
being black enough from the early age of his life. He was invisible to others and he

As it was in the case of Bigger Thomas or Invisible Man, they both struggled to find
equality in American society. They fought to be recognized as something more than a
nigger . Nearly 70 years later, Monk an African Americanwriter found himself on
very similar grounds. He too was struggling to be heard and appreciated for what
he did rather than be judged by his skin color. We see that our three protagonists
lead three different lives. We notice that their situations are slightly better as the
years pass. Bigger Thomas in 1930 was not as lucky as we could say Invisible
Man, in 1950, was. He could not go to school; he was unable to see perspectives for
himself. He was reminded of his inferiority everywhere he went, he lived separated
from the white world and was dependent on the goodwill of rich white men.
Invisible Man though did not succeed the way Monk did. Living twenty years after
Thomas, the narrator stood better chances for a decent living, however, it was still
impossible for him to enjoy freedom and equality. In comparison to the previous
two, we can say, Monk was in the best social position. He was highly educated, did
what he liked and desired all his life being a writer, he had got the acceptance as an
African American in the society. In 2001, he was living the life Bigger Thomas and
Invisible Man had dreamed about. What bounded our

Individual Privacy vs. National Security The need to protect National Security is far
more important than individual privacy. The greatest part of living in the United States
of America is the freedom that we have. That freedom and the right to live freely is
protected by various government agencies. From time to time, the privacy a person
has may have to be invaded to guarantee the security of the country and other citizens.

Privacy is, and should continue to be, a fundamental dimension of living in a free,
democratic society. Laws protect government, credit, communications, education,
bank, cable, video, motor vehicle, health, telecommunications, children s and
financial information; generally carve out exceptions for disclosure of personal
information; and authorize the use of warrants, subpoenas, and court orders to obtain
the information. (Protecting Individual Privacy in the Struggle Against Terrorists: A
Framework for Program Assessment, 2008) This is where a lot of people feel as
though they have their privacy violated. Most Americans are law abiding citizens
who do not commit illegal acts against the country, they want to go about their lives,
minding their own business and not having to worry about outside interference. The
fine line between privacy and National Security may not be so fine in everyone s
mind. While it is the job of government agencies to ensure the overall safety of the
country and those living in it, the citizens that obey the law and do not do anything
illegal often wonder why they are subject to any kind of search, when they can clearly
point out, through documentation, that they have never done anything wrong. Both
National Security and individual privacy were massively affected by the terrorist

I hope this brief memo can summarize the situation in Europe. WWI and the Great
Depression have caused chaos throughout Europe. Many people are starting to
choose Fascism over democracy although I cannot understand why they should
prefer a governmental system led by a dictator who completely controls the lives
of its citizens. In Italy it s Mussolini, in Germany they are led by Hitler, and the
dictator in Spain is Fransisco Franco. These countries are beginning to invade other
nations in order to create strong and wealthy empires. The Fascists are promising
security and national pride to their people. These nations, who were defeated in
WWI, are suffering the consequences of being the losers in that war. In 1919, Benito
Mussolini organized a group of veterans who called themselves the Blackshirts .

The most difficult time in a child s relationship with his/her parents is mainly during
its teenage years. These are times of rebellion, disagreement, strong emotion,
psychological changes and sexual experimentation just to name a few. In Mary
Gaitskill s short story Tiny, Smiling Daddy , the main theme of how people seek
intimacy but don t know how to achieve it (Gaitskill, 289) is conveyed by the author
through the characters, symbolism and setting and imagery. Firstly, the two main
characters in this story, Kitty and Stew, are crucial elements of the story to present
its theme. When Kitty was a child, her and Stew were intimate. She would laugh at
her father s jokes about playing with the hairs of his nose. (Gaitskill, 290) This...

Another symbol in this story is the tiny, smiling daddy which Stew does not agree
with. This element represents the inner parent meaning that it is Kitty s own
judgment that helped her get through difficult times: I would have acknowledged
my own needs and created the possibility to connect with what therapists call В‘the
good parent in myself. (Gaitskill, 295) This tiny, smiling daddy stands for
everything that Stew is not: a supportive, accepting and truly loving parent with
who Kitty can have intimacy. Then, there is the relationship Stew had with his
own father which can be viewed as a symbol that reflects on the relationship
between Stew and Kitty. Stew admired his father, yet he rejected him: Its almost
godlike stillness and expressionless filled him with admiration and reassurance,
until one day, his father slowly looked up from his cereal, met his eyes and said,
В‘Stop staring at me you little shit. (Gaitskill, 298) Kitty herself experienced similar

Fashion in Shakespeare s Time
Elizabethan Era (1558 1603)
Elizabethan Era Clothing
The Elizabethan era was an extraordinarily fashion era for both man and women, a
time when everything was changing from the fifteenth century simple dress to
extravagant and dramatic styles which we call Elizabethan fashion. At that time, new
styles, modern yet unique fabrics, charm colors, sharp design and glamor silhouette
were evolving. Every layer and piece of Elizabethan outfit was equally important,
from the fancy dress to the smallest details. Definitely, the Elizabethan era was the
time of beauty and fascination. In fact, during the Elizabethan time clothing reflects
mood, values and the person s statue in the society. So fashion at that time was the
primary indicator of one s social statue and the differences in styling between upper
class and lower class were noticeable and very easy distinguished, in terms of fabric,
colors, and design.
During the Elizabethan time period, in order to understand a person s life style
including clothes, we must first understand how the society at that time worked. The
Elizabethan society was divided into three classes, first upper class including nobles
and royalty, second middle class or hard working class, and finally lower class or
peasants. The availability of fabrics, colors, and designs were extremely limited for
lower class compared to

environment. No one in her family even thought twice about coming to visit
Michael, instead they had to travel in a dreary car all day long(Forever Grateful).
Julie soon became very odious to the idea of driving, and since Michael wasn t old

The Band Aid was invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson, an employee of Johnson

without assistance. Dickson, a Highland Park, New Jersey resident at the time,

product as the Band Aid. Dickson had a successful career at Johnson amp; Johnson,

essence of what the product stood for: solid, gritty and with a never say die attitude

Over the years, the challenge for communication has been to shift from passive
protection to active healing. Band Aid needed to signal efficacy, demonstrate its
medicinal side and shift its discourse without losing its core values. Kids have the
innate desire to be active and Band Aid makes sure that cuts and bruises will not

The Band Aid Goldfish campaign, launched in 2000, was a real clutter breaking
advertisement, which elevated the awareness of wash proof to new heights. Since
early 2003, the brand, with its new campaign of Continuous Care , has tried to
reposition itself among the target audience. The simple theme is that unlike antiseptic
liquids and creams, which wear off after the initial effect, Band Aid works on the
wound non stop. Therefore, the core value of the brand ceaseless supervision is
emphatically stated in the baseline Iska asar lagatar . The Kids Snapshot film is
based on this thought.

The whole play is basically about dreams. The characters have a tough time dealing
with the oppressive situations that control their lives. Each member possesses an
individual and separate dreams. However, they find it hard to acquire the dreams all
through the play. Because of that, most of their happiness, as well as dissatisfaction,
is directly linked to the achievement or failure to acquire the dreams (Saber, 2010).
At the conclusion of the play, they get to know that the dream of a house is the most
crucial dream since it brings unity to a family. The second essential theme is the need
to eliminate racial discrimination. Here, Mr. Lindner s character makes the theme
quite conspicuous within the play as a matter that the Younger family cannot evade.
The body governing Younger s new neighborhood is seen to send Mr. Lindner to
plead with them not to shift into the Clybourne Park Neighborhood that is dominated
by the whites. He, as well as the persons that he represents, are only seeing the color
of the Younger family s skin. Further, the attempt to bribe the family to prevent them
from moving is a threat to the values that the family stands for (Sutton, 2011). Finally,
the family responds to the discrimination through the use of both strength and
boldness. From this, the play tries to show that the means of dealing with
discrimination is by standing up and reaffirming one s dignity in it instead of

It is a problem for such students to extract direct facts on what they have learnt. This
is because their reasoning is random and intuitive which makes them follow instance

dimensional forms and volumes. This means that in class, such persons prefer
instructions that are visual and those with examples for them to view the form as a

They value their views, desires, feelings, inventions, and beliefs as compared to
those from and objective perspective and score best in practices requiring personal
opinions and perspectives. In arguments and discussions, they value their standpoints
and are willing to defend it at all cost.During analysis and evaluation of a given
concept, the right hemisphere dominant persons look at thing as wholes and not
parts. These holistic syntheses of objects contribute to their visual and auditory
perceptions (Paradiso, Bears amp; Connors, 2007). It is also a contributing factor in
the ability to view facial perceptions. In language, individuals with right hemisphere
dominance are practical, with inclination to tones and emphasis. This factor makes
such persons to possess strong musical and art awareness. Compared to the

45. The Importance Of Globalization
Introduction
Globalization continues to dominate conversation and research as a globally
influential trend. Identities influence how people interact with the world, including
policy and conflict; seeing the impact globalization has will be beneficial. Existing
literature looks at the interaction globalization has with ethnic conflicts, and some
identities, but most tend to aggregate a multidimensional term into one measure.
This research finds and evaluates the connection between globalization and saliency
of national identities by disaggregating globalization to find the most interactive
component: human migration, technological/communicative, or economic
globalization. Disaggregating globalization is necessary to see separate ramifications
on saliency of national identities. Finally, this research addresses a divergence in
literature over whether national identity or global identity is growing more important
with globalization. Literature Review Globalization
Globalization is an expanding, vague term that constantly crosses disciplines.
Integral to economics, sociology, psychology, and political science, the term is not
rigid, with definitions and uses ranging in department, creating a puzzle within the
term. Scholars agree that it is a process that crosses country borders through the
sharing and flow of goods, services, economics, culture, technology, and more

As a result, Ireland s introduction of Christianity did not come from Roman Catholic,
but from their Celtic faith (Kienel, 1998, p. 69). Irish people loved learning, and the

in the Catholic Empire.
In Germany, Emperor Charlemagne, the first emperor of the Holy Roman Empire
made a great contribution to education when he invited Alcuin, a schoolmaster from
England to revive his palace school. Away from the tight control of Pope Gregory,
Alcuin and Charlemagne were able to advance education in his empire even though it
lasted only for Charlemagne s lifetime(Kienel, 1998, p.72).
Besides cathedral education, palace schools and trade schools, another form of
education called Chivalric education was alive and well in the Holy Roman Empire.
Chivalric education came out of feudalism with the main objective of producing
knights. It was similar to Spartan education in a sense that there was little academic
learning involved (Kienel, 1998, p. 73) and heavy emphasis on military
