Argumentative Essay On Gun Control
Crafting an essay on the subject of gun control can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a
delicate balance between presenting compelling arguments and addressing the complexity of the
issue. The topic itself is highly controversial, evoking strong emotions and polarized opinions. As
a writer, navigating through the intricate web of statistics, legal considerations, and ethical
perspectives demands a thorough understanding of the subject matter.
One must delve into the historical context, examining the evolution of gun control policies and
their impact on society. Analyzing various viewpoints, ranging from the staunch advocates of
Second Amendment rights to those emphasizing public safety, adds another layer of intricacy.
Moreover, it is essential to stay abreast of current events and legislative developments, as the
discourse on gun control is dynamic and subject to ongoing changes.
Constructing a well-rounded argument involves meticulous research, citing credible sources, and
presenting data in a coherent manner. Additionally, the writer must anticipate counterarguments
and address them with sound reasoning. Striking the right balance between emotion and
rationality is crucial, as an essay on gun control often touches on deeply rooted beliefs and
concerns.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in fostering a nuanced discussion without oversimplifying the
issue. It requires the ability to distill complex information into digestible points, ensuring that
readers can follow the argument and arrive at informed conclusions.
In conclusion, composing an essay on gun control is a demanding task that requires a
comprehensive understanding of the subject, adept research skills, and the ability to navigate
through sensitive and contentious terrain. The success of such an essay hinges on the writer's

new general manager of the machine tooling group at Parker Manufacturing and
Mike a plant manager who reported to Ron, Ron had violated some principles of

The Economic Disaster Of Detroit
Detroit, Michigan once stood as the epitome of industrial American cities. In the mid
1990s Detroit had the highest income per capita and a booming automotive industry.
During prohibition in the 1920s Detroit served as a major gateway for the
importation of alcohol from Canada, whereby it thrived from this lucrative business.
Also, around this same time the automotive industry was growing at a pace where
jobs were begging to be filled, and the population of Detroitrose to nearly 2,000,000.
There was a point in time where many other major U.S. cities envied Detroit and
were jealous of its ever growing economy and infrastructure. At this time it seemed as
though nothing would stop the economic growth of the Motor City. Sadly, these are...

The main causes of this economic collapse are the loss of thousands of manufacturing
jobs in the state of Michigan due to globalization, the subtle racism of residents
leading to the suburbanization of the Detroit area, and a group of crooked municipal
government leaders that stole from the community. Despite these overwhelming
obstacles Detroit is on the mend, and many see a bright future for this once great city.
It is however, important to note that everybody have a weakness, and the same
remains true when referring to a cities infrastructure. The most astounding reason
for the quick decline of Detroit was the closure of many automotive factories and
the deterioration of the American auto industry. Detroit was a city with everything
going for it. Its quick economic growth in the early 20th century had a lot to do
with its geographical location. It was located close to the nations major coal and
iron distributors and it was easily accessible by water via the Detroit River. Edmund
Wilson wrote in a critique of Detroit, You can see here, as it is impossible to do in a
more varied and complex city, the whole structure of an industrial society. Wilson
elegantly notes that Detroit depends entirely on the automotive industry as its source
of sustainability where other cities have a more diversified industrial scene. At the
beginning of the 20th century Detroit s auto industry began. Henry Ford opened the
Ford Motor company in 1903 and
The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe
Stay Alive and Thrive
Lucy, the main character in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe , was trying to
prove to her siblings that she was speaking the truth while Tris, the main character
in the novel Divergent , did the opposite. Tris goal was to keep her secret from
everyone to save her life and the lives of a few of her friends. Buck, an intrepid and
mighty sled dog, was also working to persevere without being killed by his absurd
owners or other rabid dogs. However, they were all either fighting for their lives or
seeking acceptance from their loved ones.

she truly belongs in. But, when she discovers that there is such thing as a divergent

she is more different than she thought says [...] under no circumstances should you

she acts in simulations, which reveal fears by copying certain parts of someone s

The Pros And Uses Of Identity Theft
According to Reyns (2013), Identity theft is a term used to categorize several offenses
involving the fraudulent use of an individual s personal information for criminal
purposes without their consent. Someone has decided to hijack someone s personal
identification information and caused not only financial damage but also impacted
the victim s reputation. In order to seek justice, a Forensic Accountant can be utilized
to help with recovering the damage caused by identity theftand the steps taken to
make the victim whole again while seeking civil and criminal justice.
Identity theft is an increasing epidemic . Some of the ways a person can commit
identity theft would be using someone s person identification information for
financial benefit. Some the ways a perpetrator can do this is by using another
individual s personal information such as date of birth, driver license number, social
security number, etc. Essentially, there are different type s identity crimes such as
financial, medical, child and synthetic identity theft. (VanderPal, 2015)
Fraudsters have turned to many different methods to obtain personal information
such as social engineering. Social engineering attacks are multifaceted and include
physical, social and technical aspects, which are used in different stages of the actual
attack.( Krombhol, Hobel, Huber, Weippl, 2015) For example, a perpetrator can
obtain personal information by stealing an individual s mail, or sending fictitious
emails posing

Linda Albert s Cooperative Discipline
As a teacher I plan to base my classroom management plan on Linda Albert s
Cooperative Discipline. I will also incorporate aspects of Positive Discipline in my
classroom management plan. I chose Cooperative Discipline as the foundation of my
personal management plan because I agree with the model that Linda Albert has
created. I believe that students should be able to start making their own decisions in
middle schoolinstead of constantly being put into a mold that some educators believe
is necessary in order to teach. Rather than constantly disciplining my students instead
I will use this style to manage them. I agree with this approach because research has
shown us that middle school is where students really begin to find their sense of self.

To me this is one of the most important things we can do for our students as middle
school is a time when these children are full of self doubt and insecurities about their
own worth. If we can bolster students feeling of worth it will help relieve stress and
increase student productivity.
I hope that the school I work with allows for teachers to use their own form of
classroom management instead of having a blanket style throughout the school. I
believe a blanket style could work well, but it would require everyone to be on the
same page. Getting thirty or so teachers all from different backgrounds on the same
page is going to be difficult. I wouldn t be completely against a blanket approach so
long as I could see evidence that it worked well.
For my class I want the students to feel a certain amount of control is theirs. To do
this I want to allow them to create the rules for the classroom as well as the
consequences for breaking those rules. Both of these activities will be teacher
guided so that I can help make sure they are fair. I will also assign them tasks that
deal with routine in the classroom such as taking up papers or helping to pass out
things. This will allow them to feel ownership of their environment. I want them to
feel that they can approach me to ask questions about anything the classroom

The enactment of Depositories Act in August 1996 paved the way for establishment
of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), the first depository in India. It
went on to establish infrastructure based on international standards that handles most
of the securities held and settled in de materialised form in the Indian capital markets.
In the depository system, securities are held in depository accounts, which are similar
to holding funds in bank accounts. Transfer of ownership of securities is done
through simple account transfers. This method does away with all the risks and
hassles normally associated with paperwork. Consequently, the cost of transacting in
a depository environment is considerably lower as compared to transacting in
certificates. In August 2009, number of Demat accounts held with NSDL crossed one

The Breaking Apart of South African Families
South Africa has long been known for the racist policies that were implemented by
the government during apartheid. In reality, many of these policies were introduced
before apartheid, and thus South Africa today is affected by centuries rather than just
a few decades of racism. The racial practice and policies of the nineteenth century that
developed out of South Africas mineral revolution were then carried into the
apartheid era, and are of particular importance for black South African families. The
desires of the white population to have sufficient labour and to monitor it while
reserving urban areas for whites occasioned the government to create restrictive laws
starting in the late nineteenth century which were carried into apartheid. These laws
and practices broke apart the South African black family and has resulted in enduring
consequences for black families and South Africa. With the mineral revolution,
African men began to leave their families to go and work. From the beginning of
European and African interaction in South Africa, the whites have been dependent
on African labour, the mineral revolution merely intensified this. It also led to an
agricultural revolution in order to feed the workers. African labour was cheaper
than white labour and so they were desired by employers. This demand for cheap
labour led to an availability of jobs which tempted some African men to migrate to
these areas of work. There was continually a shortage, however, and the government
Susquehanna River Essay
The health of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay was found based on
Biological (macroinvertebrates and wildlife) and Chemicals characteristics (pH,
dissolved oxygen, phosphates, nitrates, etc.) as well as physical observations (amount
of forested buffers, wetlands, etc.) Overall it was concluded that the health of the
water was good to excellent. What was found was that many of the
macroinvertebrates found in the water were sensitive or facultative, meaning the
water quality was good enough for them to live in. Also, the level of ph, temperature,
dissolved oxygen, phosphates, nitrates, and turbidityshowed that the water quality
was good. Finally, while we were canoeing down the Susquehanna River,

Underwater grasses, or Elodea, was observed as well. This wide variety of life is a
good indicator of the water s health.
The chemical characteristics observed and documented were pH, temperature,
phosphate, nitrate, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen. Each of these chemical levels
were documented and found differently. Most were found using a kit or a device.
The numbers found, would tell us how polluted the stream was and how much
nutrients were in the water. Each chemical has a scale for telling what a good level
is and what a bad level is. If an excess amount of nutrients was found in the water,
algae could be formed. When algae is formed it blocks sunlight from shining into the
water, which creates dead zones. This is called eutrophication. A dead zone is an area
where there is no life. This can cause major problems like population issues and
more. If the algae continues to grow in the river, the whole body of water can die
out, and people as well as other organisms are very dependent on the Susquehanna.
While on the river though, there was an absence of algae, so sunlight is able to get
through the water, which is very good.
Physical characteristics are important as well. While canoeing, many things were
observed and notices. Tires were seen at the bottom of the river. This is most likely
because of the highway that runs on both sides or the river, and over it on bridges
too. Because of the highway, there is a high risk
Persepolis Heroism
The Islamic Revolution was a crucial moment in revolutionary history of Iran that
happened in 1979. The author of Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi, was a young girl
during the Islamic Revolution. Persepolis the Story of a Childhood is about
Satrapi s life growing up during the revolution. Marji Satrapi s view point on
heroism changes throughout the course of the story and she learns what it takes to
be a true hero. Heroism plays a major role in Marji s life and affects her throughout
the book. At the beginning part of the story, it is shown that Marji does not have
anyone to look up to in the correct way. On page 17 of The Bicycle , her father says

A few chapters later, on page 54 of Moscow , there are two images where she says

look up to in her family but her parents do not serve as that for her. In the middle of
the story, Marji s thoughts on heroism begin to change and she has to learn to stay
strong. In the story Persepolis on page 26, she tells her grandmother It must have
been very hard on you. She begins to see her grandmother as a hero and the
strength she has. On page 30, Marji tells her father, whom she has not seen in a
while, I was sure you were dead! Marji is overwhelmed with joy because she has her
father back. It gives her a sense of comfort. She begins to see her father in a

The Bible And The Word inspire Essay
The Bible and the Word quot;Inspire quot;
According to the Random House Dictionary, the word inspire means quot;to infuse an
animating, quickening, or exalting influence into, or to communicate or suggest by a
divine influence. quot; This definition indicates, when applied to the scripture, that
the stories and writings in the Bible did not come solely from the minds of the
respective authors, but rather from a divine source. This suggests that the authors
were scribes, reproducing what was instilled in them by God. This idea is
strengthened by looking at distinct examples from the scripture that show that
scripture is inspired, and not made up. By using the form of criticism known as

Spirit. quot; From the standpoint of a literary critic, these two passages represent
the question at hand as to whether or not scripture is inspired. Literary criticism
looks at the passage as a whole, and reads what it says, just as a normal person
would. Using this method, we see easily that scripture is in fact inspired, because it
states that there were no cleverly invented stories, but rather God s own words. God
s plans for his people are carefully laid out, and there is much doubt that He would
entrust average people to teach others about
His word without careful explanation as to exactly what it is, and how it came to be.
This is why much of the Bible, especially the Pentateuch, tells the historical story of

Drug Trafficking
The international drug trade from Latin American states is having an impact on a
global scale. The trafficking of drugs along with corruptness and murder is an
international conflict that is being fought daily. There are many aspects of the drug
war from Mexico and other Latin American states which have effects on United States
policy as well as policies from other countries that participate in the global
suppression of illegal drugs. It can be hard to differentiate between conflict and issue
in regards to Latin America s drug war and International Relations. The Mexican drug
waris a global issue because it interferes with the states ability to collaborate and

Now, drug trafficking has been taken to the world stage. In regards to the Mexican
drug cartels the United States is working with Mexican interdiction efforts,
establishing corruption resistant court systems and police agencies, in order to help
fight off a security threat to the United States. (Meyer 2009) With the United States
being a hegemonic power, one state holding a preponderance of power in the
international system allowing it to dominate the rules and arrangements in
international political and economic decisions are made power in the world, they
have imposed states with certain conditions/standards in order to receive aid.
Mexico has frequently stated that the Untied States is acting unilaterally and
violating their sovereignty. Sovereignty is the idea that each state has the right to
do whatever it desires within its own territory. Another reason that this conflict is
being targeted by different government organizations is that terrorists have become
involved in the drug trade. The United States is concerned that due to the
weakened budget from the efforts of the war on terror and the war on drugs its
borders are becoming available to the smuggling of terrorists. (Levin 2010) With the
passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement, signed by the United States,
Canada, and Mexico that allows for the trade of goods with little or no tariffs or
trade restrictions, concerns were raised as
Advertising Campaign Aimed At Luring Consumers At
The...
In the wake of increasing competition in the world of business, most companies have
embarked on advertisement campaigns aimed at luring consumers to their products.
The nature of advertisements is that they accentuate the strength of a certain product
while concealing the disadvantages of the same product. Essentially, all adverts aim
at influencing the consumers to make favorable decisions in respect to the purchase
of the products. While most companies go an extra mile in making their products
more appealing in the eyes of the consumers, they sometimes do so at the consumer s
expense. Usually, the manner in which the products are displayed does not reflect the
true reality on the ground. This scenario results in the eventual disappointment of
consumers and may even work negatively against the company. In the minds of the
consumers, products that do not meet their expectations are considered as a fraud. In
the course of advertisements, companies tend to portray a different picture of the
products from the one that is real. In so doing, the company s end up raising the
hopes and expectations of the consumers only to realize later that it was all hype.
Good advertisements are persuasive and prompt consumers to purchase the intended
products. However, companies are prone to mislead the consumers by appealing to
their emotions in different ways. The advertisers have prior knowledge of the
emotional attachment that consumers have towards certain products (Schrank, 2009).

America s Worst Failure Of Prohibition In The United States
For every prohibition you create, you also create an underground. jello biafra said
this referring to when every time the government tries to ban or regulate
something, people are trying to get out around the law. The 18th Amendment
started in January of 1920 to December of 1933 to reduce crime and corruption,
solve social problems, reduce tax burden created because of prisons and
poorhouses, and improve health and hygiene on America. It was a miserable failure
on all accounts. Prohibition had a reverse effect on the people of the U.S. due to the
damage it did to the economy, the corruption of officials in the us government, and
how it was one of the government s worst failures in U.S. history. prohibition

With all of the cops we had meant that more and more people were getting arrested
which meant we had to spend more and more on prisons and had to spend more on
taking care of the prisoners. All of this spending increased government spending
substantially. with Prohibition passed as an Amendment, it made 60% 70% of the
U.S. population as criminals. It pretty much turned the average joe into a criminal.
That meant a lot more prisoners to take of. This is just of the reasons that
government spending increased. The monthly budget for the bureau went from
$4,400,000 in 1920 to $13,400,000 in 1925. That an increase of $9,000,000 in only 5

Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech
Al Gore s speech titled Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech is a powerful work of
literature which serves two purposes. The first purpose is stated in the title to
accept his award of the Nobel Peace Prize. The second intent he had when writing
the speech was to reiterate his points that awarded him the honor in the first place.
The speech explains his passion for the problem in our world that is the climate
change and how much we pollute our earth. To give a short gist of what his cause
was, the following quote offers much insight to the regretful aspect of our society that
he is passionate about fixing. He says So today, we dumped another 70 million tons
of global warming pollution into the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet,

His call to actions is for us to choose between two futures. He goes on to explain
further by challenging the reader to challenge assumption as well as repetition.
Challenging us to question the repetition that would eminently happen if we don t
unify and majorly change our actions. His persuasion is made very strong and hard
hitting when he says we are standing at the most fateful fork in that path. So I want
to end as I began, with a vision of two futures each a palpable possibility and with a
prayer that we will see with vivid clarity the necessity of choosing between those
two futures, and the urgency of making the right choice now. Reading this quote
gives the feeling of being very inspired and feeling empowered. That being said, I
feel Gore should have given more concrete action that he proposes we take. He
should have said things such as we should stop allowing every person to drive a
motor vehicle as much as they please. If he d said something along those lines, it
puts a specific concern in mind and helps along the putting the reality of better,
healthier world into fruition. He also could have proposed that perhaps every
person who owns a vehicle be required to plant a tree once a year. His speech was
powerful with lots of drawing of parallels, a lot of analogies, and many accounts of
making associations. While he is lacking a concrete and specific remedy for our
current situation, maybe it is okay. Perhaps all we need is to see that we do have a
choice in how we can influence the world, and the rest is up to us to draw from the
inspiration and coordinate our own, personal next move to attain the goal that has

Choi requested an EMG of the right upper extremity so he can rule out possible
carpal tunnel release. He opined if the EMG of the right upper extremity were to
come back normal, the applicant would be deemed permanent and stationary.

Meanwhile, I believe we do not need to procure an EMG of the upper extremity
through the request of the primary treating physician. As you know, this is a medical
legal diagnostic request for the purpose of a medical legal determination. Therefore,
we do not need to go through the utilization review process. In this instance where we
are having a tough time finding a primary treating physician for the applicant, I
recommend we simply authorize a facility to perform the EMG of the right upper
extremity.
Personally, I would recommend Dr. Frank Cantrell, who is a well known physician
in Fresno in the field of neurology. I have seen many EMG/NCV studies from his
office. I also confirmed Dr. Cantrell is within our MPN. Therefore, it is my
recommendation we send an authorization to Dr. Cantrell for the sole purpose of
obtaining an EMG of the right upper extremity as requested by Dr. Choi, so we can

The Science of Management Throughout History Essay
Management Thought
Management is one of the areas of modern economics, aimed at the creation, planning
and implementation of development plan for businesses, organizations, and firms in
order to maximize the potential profit of the company, creating a sustainable
enterprise management system (Drucker, 1993). Management helps companies to
achieve a certain goal step by step. In order to achieve targets companies demand
managers. A Manager is the person responsible for planning and directing the work of
a group of individuals, monitoring their work, and taking corrective action when
necessary (Reh).
The origins of management roots back to the time of ancient Egypt, where they
started build the pyramids. Obviously, they needed to have ... Show more content on

Labor productivity grows, increasing both gross and net product. According to
Smith, the nation s economy can grow only with the growth of its capital, and its
capital can grow only to the extent that it gradually makes its income from savings.
In other words, capital limits economy. Thus, the capital the true essence of
economic life. As soon as it grows or diminishes, or opens it work all the way, or
impose its veto on any improvement. According to Smith, government should not
regulate or try to involve into businesses and trades, they have to support the free
market. One of the other figures, who developed the science of management is
Frederick W. Taylor.
Frederick Taylor (1856 1915) called the father of scientific management and the
ancestor of the entire system of scientific organization of production, and more than a

The Drug Of Drugs And Drugs
More and more people are sucked into the horrible addiction. An addiction is an
actual disease that occurs in the brain. Many times these drugs affect the brain and
in result, cause the addiction to occur. More and more there are people coming into
the hospital from a heroin overdose, are released from the hospital, go back out, and
inject the drug. The drug is so powerful that these individuals do not see what is
happening to them as they slowly kill themselves.
There are multiple drugs that are classified as narcotics. Narcotics are defined by
Merriam Webster s medical dictionary as, a drug that in moderate does dulls the
senses, relieves pain, and induces profound sleep but in excessive doses causes
stupor, coma, or convulsions. This is an issue when these narcotics are being abused
or taken out of context. There are prescription narcotics, but there are also the street
drugs that are being illegally produced and sold. Prescription pain medications are
not a bad thing when they are prescribed and used correctly. Some examples of
prescription narcotics are codeine, fentanyl and hydrocodone. While there are
beneficial elements to these medications, there are also side effects. Medline Plus
explains a few side effects as drowsiness, impaired judgement and a strong desire, or
craving, for these medications. This is how the addictions begin to occur.
Patient s will become dependent on the pain relief and begin to crave the drug; once
they have continually taken their
The Constitutional System Within The United Kingdom
A constitutional system within a country could be classified as one of the most
important structures for democracy; it should not only illustrate the structures and
power of a government, but also state the relationship between government and
individuals. Constitutionalism can be classified into two distinct categories: a
codified written Constitutions (ie: United States), and an uncodified unwritten
constitution(ie: United Kingdom). Some consider the UK constitution as a risk to the
democratic society due to its flexibility and the chance of forming dictatorship.
However, others believe that an uncodified constitution could be beneficial within a
constant changing and developing society. Hence, rules and agreements could be
easily modified and become up to date under an uncodified constitution, whereas, a
codified Constitution is less flexible with complex amendment procedures and often
seen as out dated.
In general, liberty and authority are two political factors that could be in constant
conflict with each other. Although John Stuart Mill (1869) suggested in On Liberty,
that the only time a state could interfere with an individuals freedom is by preventing
harm from one another, the subject of a rigid constitution and liberal democracy is
still an on going discussion.
This essay will focus on the comparison between US Constitution and UK equivalent;
the advantages and disadvantages presented within the two constitutional systems,
and secondly will discuss whether or

Essentialist Approach To Sexuality Paper
The essentialist approach to sexuality asserts that sexuality is an inborn characteristic
and an innate aspect of being human. The essentialist approach evolves out of the
biological model which views sexuality as a universal drive within the body that has
remained constant over time (Bakehorn, 8/30/206). Essentialism assesses all sexual
practices throughout history and within different cultures using a universal set of
criteria. This understandingof sexuality leads essentialists to apply the dichotomous
sexual orientations of homosexual and heterosexual to describe all sexual behavior
throughout history (Weeks 2010:20). Essentialism is very rigid in its approach to
sexuality and upholds biology as the ultimate determinate of individual sexual... Show

Cancer
Each day, hundreds of people find themselves face to face with the word cancer.
There is an estimate of 4600 new cancer diagnosis each day. Cancer is the second
leading cause of death in the united states, and is a major health concern worldwide.
However, over the past 3 decades the survival rate for all cancers has climbed over
20%.
In 1985, a surgeon in Tacoma, Washington known by the name of Gordy Klatt found
himself walking around a track for 24 hours. His goal was to help raise money for
the American Cancer Society and play his role in helping fight the nation s biggest
health concern. During Klatts grueling time on the track, he completed over 83

really can make a difference.
The following year, over 300 supporters joined Klatt in an overnight event. 19 teams

How Does Gram-Negative Bacteria Structure
Gram negative bacteria structure
The lipid A palmitoyltransferase pagP is an outer membrane enzyme of the gram
negative bacteria Escherichia coli. Gram negative bacteria are surrounded by two
lipid bilayer membranes, which enclose the periplasmic space composed of
peptidoglycan that contains ions and proteins. The two membranes differ in
composition and function. With respect to composition, the inner or cytoplasmic
membrane is composed of phospholipids, such as phosphatidylethanolamine,
phospatidylglycerol and cardiolipin found in both the inner and outer leaflet. The
outer membrane is highly asymmetric with its inner leaflet having the same
phospholipid composition as the inner membrane and the outer leaflet consisting of

In order for the bacteria to establish a successful attachment on the host surfaces, they
need to have an adaptation ability towards external changes. Certain cellular
regulators transmit signals from the exterior to the inner part of the cell via
cytoplasmic secondary messenger systems or so called alomers. In bacteria this
function is performed by the 3 ,5 cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) which is
an ubiquitous molecule found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes. The cAMP targets
its receptor, the cAMP receptor protein (CRP) and this CRP cAMP complex formed
binds to the DNA in order to activate the expression of genes that code for enzymes
responsible for the supply of energy of the cell, besides the cAMP is a derivative of
ATP independent of glucose. It is studied that the CRP cAMP is a global regulator
of gene expression of almost 200 operons in E.coli. Type 1 fimbriation is
dependent on growth phase and it is found that CRP cAMP regulates type 1
fimbriae expression during the exponential growth phase. CRP and cAMP levels are
influenced by environmental conditions mainly by glucose availability and
osmolarity. These particular conditions affect also the DNA topology in E. coli.
There are others global regulators, expect the CRP cAMP, found that affect the type

The Influence Of Sex And Advertising In Advertising
Sex has a distinguished place in culture, it is a constant theme and continues to
increase as time goes on. Not only that, but sex has made its mark as an advertising
tactic. However, this is not a new proposition. Sex in advertising emerged many
decades ago and continues to claim its place. This presents a critical question. Does
sexas an advertisingtool sell? Research shows that sexual appeals in advertising
leaves a negative impression. Sex does not seem to be the optimal selling tactic. On
the other hand, research has also found that sex does, in fact, sell by its stimulating
and arousing effect. There are important factors to examine such as; audience, where
sex is implemented, how it affects brand recall, how advertising works, it s
relevancy, and how it is used. Regardless if sex sells or not, it continues to remain a
highlighted concept in advertising and culture.
Sex has been implemented as an advertising tactic for a long time. For example, in
the 1910s an ad from Ivory Soap displayed naked sailors soaped up, waiting for a
friend to hose them down (Smith, 2017.) Sexual themes have not let up since then.
Sorrow (2012) notes a study constructed by Tom Reichert where he found that from
1983 to 2003, the rate of sexual ads increased from 15 percent to 27 percent. Smith
(2017) examines a recent ad by Calvin Klein that depicts an orgy. However,
regarding this ad, outrage broke out. This brings up the idea that sex does not sell. If
sexual ads are creating a negative
Defense Mechanisms By Julius Caesar And Othello Essay
Defense mechanisms, a term coined by Anna Freud and used by the world s
populace, come in numerous forms, among them: the repressed desire to punch
someone in the face, projecting the anger you have for your boss out on your wife,
or the never ending denial that your husband of twenty years is homosexual. These
mechanisms are used so frequently that they have a distinct presence in the literary
world. Why is this important? Shakespeare, a man clearly ahead of his time, wrote
about defense mechanisms centuries before the term s existence even coming up
with a mechanism Freud never considered. Typically, Shakespearean works such as
Julius Caesarand Othelloare acknowledged for their tragic endings and the deception
that leads the characters there; however, few acknowledge that Shakespeare
incorporated defense mechanisms such as repression, denial, and projection even
before Freud s theory on such mechanisms came to fruition. Additionally, Shakespeare
provides evidence of betrayal as its own definitive defense mechanism, proving that it
is in fact human nature to betray others.
Julius Caesar is a story of conspiracy and betrayal that ultimately lead to the murder
of Caesar. Upon returning from war, Caesar receives a warning to Beware the ides
of March (1.2.20), an obvious foreshadowing of events to come. During this time,
Brutus and Cassius confer on Caesar s ambition to become king, despite having
refused the crown three times. Cassius, Casca and Cinna, conspire to

franchise is a right granted to an individual or group to market a company s goods
or services within a certain territory or location. There are companies that fall up
under the franchise umbrella such as McDonald s, Subway, and Pizza Hut. Many
people think of restaurants or fast food businesses when they think of franchise.
There are over 120 different types of franchise that consist of automotive, health
and fitness, financial services, and cleaning and maintenance, just to name a few.
Scenario: A person is interested in starting a business and would like to own a

typical problems of the partnership. Incorporating allows a group of owners to act
as one. This is similar to the way a partnership is operated as well. Since a

by absorbing the liability if something goes wrong. In a corporation, the owner is

Personality typing has been shown to have a variety of potential applications within
the professional world, including the field of dietetics. The preferences a person has
within their personality type can largely influence their decision making process.
Often, the most dominant preferences will have the most input, which may hinder
individuals from making the best decision for the problem at hand and can lead to
unhealthful habits. This is how personality types may be beneficial when providing

Despite this, there are some skills associated with my personality type that would

abilities in theoretical and technical developing, including research, forecasts and

pull a cart. The Clydesdale breed is usually compared to the Percheron and the
Belgian Draft breeds. Though they are compared the Clydesdale is still by far the
best cart pulling horse (Blocksdorf n.p.). Clydesdale have a specific body type to
them that make them ideal for pulling a cart. These horses usually have short backs
and are broad chested. The necks of this breed should be long and arched, this makes
them look elegant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Belgian horses have small heads and thick, muscular necks. They have short legs
unlike the Clydesdale, but have the leg feathering similar to the Clydesdale. The
Belgians are usually seventeen hands tall, so similar to the Clydesdale. The colors
this breed is generally found in are chestnut and roan (Graphiq n.p.). The Shire
horse breed is also similar to the Clydesdale breed. It is also a type of draft horse
breed. One of the big differences is that the Shire horse breed stands approximately
21.2 hands tall. This is basically towering over the Clydesdale, which is
impressively tall. The Shire horses have slightly arched necks, but not as arched as
the Clydesdale. This neck makes them less attractive when pulling a cart. The Shires
also have large eyes and they are wide chested. The Shire breed is usually seen in the
colors of bay, black, chestnut, gray, and roan (Graphiq
Judicial Branch Research Paper
The Constitution of the United States, the most remarkable document that was ever
created. In this document, it clearly outlines the government that the United States
will operate under and gave the leaders specific ways to guide the citizens of the
country. For instance, in the Constitution, it established a judicial branch and outlined
the laws that it will possessed. According to the Constitution, the judicial branch
should act as a system of checks and balances against the other two branches of
government. Under these circumstances, there are various courts that are created. For
instance, there are the district courts, circuit courts, and above all there is the
Supreme Court. The judges that serve in the Supreme Court are nominated by the...

Since the Supreme Court is the highest and most powerful court, it can overrule any
of the other court s decisions. A great example of this was the Brown v. Board of
Education of Education of Topeka that schools segregated by race were
unconstitutional (US History 1). In this case, it overruled the decision made in 1896
in the Plessy v. Ferguson case where the separate but equal idea was made legal. This
shows how important the power the Supreme Court has is. If the separate but equal
case was never unconstitutional, the African Americans might still be suffering from
injustice in the society. On the other hand, there has also been other cases that have
been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. For instance, in the U.S. Supreme
Court s 1989 decision in Stanford v. Kentucky, which held that executing minors was
not unconstitutional, was no longer valid (Roper v. Simmons 1). This decision has
brought y many benefits to the minors that have been convicted to a crime since it
gives them longer time to prove their innocence. Furthermore, the idea of executing
minors is still considered too brutal and inhumane. So the power that the Supreme
Court possess can help the country abolish some of its unjust
The Border, The Imaginary And Unseen Border Essay
To have a complete understanding of what a border is one must come to the other
form of the border, the imaginary and unseen border. This abstract border separates
people from one another without any real embodiment of the border itself. This
particular border does not necessarily have concrete matter, which separates people
like fences, gates, towers, and walls. Moreover, it does not have to be policed.
Ergo, such border exists without any limitation of space and time. This abstract
border does create the same effect as the concrete border, separating and labeling
people, as them and us. Nonetheless, the abstract border affects people beyond
labelling and separation. As the Xuncax siblings in El Norte succeeded in crossing
the concrete U.S. Mexico border, they had to face the abstract border, the language
border. Knowing nothing of English hinders them in coping with their new life in
America. Language is the first border they have to pass in the new land. Because
Enrique could not speak English, he is unable to find a job easily since he could not
communicate with other people who might need his service. In the same boat, Rosa,
being unable to comprehend her employer s explanation on how to use the washing
machine, ends up washing all the clothes by hands and let them dry under the sun. In
a word, their unavailability to cross the language border is apparently making an
impediment for them to find a job for living or to execute the employer s request
correctly.
Foils In Romeo And Juliet
What is a foil? Right away some may think of the aluminum sheets to cover or
make things out of. When thinking of a foil in the literature language, it creates a
whole different mindset. A foil is when two characters personalities are completely
opposite from one another to accentuate each other. William Shakespeare, writer of
the love story Romeo and Juliet uses foils greatly among the Montagues and
Capulets. The Montagues and Capulets are the two families who have a rivalry with
each other. Their hate for each other causes a lot of unnecessary drama especially
when it comes between the love of young Romeo and sweet Juliet. Foils do make the
story more interesting to show how one can change another with a different
personality. Mercutio
Windjammer Park Access Plan
Access
Windjammer Park does not have a grand entry marking access into the park.
Having a grand entrance to the park would help with visibility as well as mark
Windjammer Park as a destination in the community. By relocating the windmill to
the grand entrance at the intersection of SW Beeksma Dr and SW Bayshore,
Windjammer Park will be highly visible for locals and tourists. A secondary
entrance is planned at SE Beach Street. This location will have a renovated small
plaza, improved streetscape, and parallel parking along City Beach.
Pedestrian access into the park is situated at the grand entrance, the north south
promenade coming from Pioneer Street, the waterfront on the west side of the park
and from Freund Marsh on the east side of the park.
Access to the beach is very difficult with the amount of driftwood that accumulates
at the shoreline. Beach access should be safe and accessible for everyone. The plan
provides for four access points that are located at the kayak campsite non motorized
boat launch, an over look just east of the boat ... Show more content on

Coupled with the splash park will be a playground, a nature play type play area.
The splash park will also incorporate nature play components so it can be used in
the winter as a playground when it is too cold for kids to play in the splash park.
Just north, a lawn is proposed so adults can sit and watch their children while
playing at the playground and splash park. In addition, there will be playgrounds
located on the west and east sides of the park, like all three prior concepts. The east
side playground will be a larger structure, where the smaller west side playground
is a segment to a collection of other park elements such as bocce ball courts, multi
use hard courts and picnic areas. The proposed layout has a kitchen facility with play
and picnic areas stemming off for families to be
Persuasive Essay On Nuclear Power Plants
Despite the fact the countries continue to increase the production of nuclear energy,
my position is that new nuclear power plants should not continue to be built. The
current use of nuclear power should be carefully evaluated with a plan to slowly
decrease production throughout the world. The negative implications to the
environment and economy support my position. The production of nuclear energy is
not as safe and clean as some say that it is. The Oxford Research Group released a
report providing evidence that supports this point. It is clear that nuclear powerplants
do not produce a lot of carbon dioxide when they operate, but it is the mining of
uranium and the storing of waste that produces the carbon dioxide pollution.... Show

There is yet to be a full proof way to store this toxic material (examiner.com).
Disposal of the high level nuclear waste that comes from nuclear power plants
continues to be a big problem. It has been challenging and costly to find safe ways
to store this waste. According to a report from the U.S National Academy of
Sciences, it will take 3 million years for radioactive waste stored in the U.S. as of
1983 to decay to background levels (thinkquest.org). Who wants this amount of
waste stored in the environment where they live? Currently in the U.S. nuclear
power plants produce 3,000 tons of this high level waste each year
(thinkquest.org). If nuclear power continues to be produced, this amount of waste
will only continue to increase, causing a bigger dilemma as to what to do with the
waste. As the waste is removed from the plant it still contains a high level of
radiation. Exposure to radiation whether it occurs in the moving process or leakage
from storage not only has a negative impact on the environment but also can pose a
major health threat to humans. Based on the level of exposure, symptoms to humans
can range from nausea and headaches to damage of nerve cells, loss of white blood
cells and even death (think .org). The potential risk of exposure is not worth human
life.
The use of nuclear power can have several negative impacts on the economy. The
use of nuclear power can be costly. The building of the plants can cost between $12

John Taylor Howling Wolf Analysis
While these artists renditions of the Treaty Signing at Medicine Lodge Creek
contain the same content, John Taylor and Howling Wolf s show very different
views. I believe that the difference in views arose due to the fact that these two men
had different cultural backgrounds from one another. John Taylor was a hired
journalist while Howling Wolf was Native American. John Taylor s sketch has a very
natural feel while Howling Wolf s is abstract. John Taylor s illustration is more
natural and realistic than representational because he was focusing on what he saw at
the treaty signing, but his beliefs may have caused him to make the Native
Americans look stern and no nonsense by creating micro facial expressions. While the

The Identity Of A New Zealand Essay
Maori identity in New Zealand has been aspersed negatively by mainstream media
(Nairn et al., 2012., p. 39) and has created a despicable and contempt perception of
their ethnicity. This will be my main focus, by referring to the ideas of Arjun
Appadurai s media and ideoscapes as a way of Maori being portrayed as menances to
society because of the focus on the assumption that Maori are taking advantage of
the system or are criminals, as can be seen in The New ZealandHerald, Police Ten 7
(a popular New Zealand program) and some of the latest statistics from the
Department of Corrections and Quick Stats. I will attempt to justify my point of
how Maori can be considered a diasporic community in New Zealand, based on the
ideas of Clifford (1994) and Safran (1991) who explore the world of the forever
changing definition of diaspora.
My argument: That the ideas of Arjun Appadurais media and ideoscapes best explain
how the identity of diasporic Maori has been created in New Zealand.
What can we call identity? Identity has been linked to self or many selves to serve
the society one is in (James, 1980, p. 294), but one theory I quite liked, was the
idea that self and society help to shape one another by societal influence on one self
and the outcomes of society by ones actions in response to the influence (Ashmore,
Lee, 1997, p. 191). Personally this idea resonated well with me in the attempt to
define identity for Maori because it explains two things:
1.The world we live in is
Hamlet And Ophelia In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In the Shakespeare play hamlet, Hamlet tries to hide a lot of emotions. In the play
hamlet and ophelia are said to be in love or that Ophelia loves hamlet. Although
people believe they are in love, Hamlet does not really act like he does love her. In
the play, Hamlet has an unknown relationship with ophelia that could be fake; But
there could be some reasoning behind the relationship and why he would be using
her. Throughout the play Hamletdoes not treat Ophelia well and sometimes even
insults her. He had said many times Get thee to a nunnery (III.I). He would often
say this throughout this conversation as another way to make her feel bad. That he
was trying to hurt but still look as if he loved her to others. Also later when
Ophelia talks about what happened she said He took me by the wrist and held me
hard (II.I). That in the conversation between hamlet and Ophelia when Hamlet was
not verbally hurting her, he would sometimes get physical. Hamlet would often use
this as a way to show how insane he was getting. Also when Ophelia was talking to
Polonius she said And thrice his head thus waving up and down (II.I). This is
another example of when Hamlet do things to make himself seem more insane. Also
he is using Ophelia again as a way to spread about himself that he wants. So Hamlet
would verbally and sometimes physically hurt her to get her to do what he wants.
Hamlet had felt that he would have a better connection to the people around him if he
was with Ophelia.

Double Love Story
So far, there is nothing substantial in the journal that would indicate Lacey had an
affair. She never mentioned being in love with Thomas or any other man for that
matter. From what Casey had read so far, Lacey was still enamored with Sean and
wanted to work on repairing the relationship. It was strange how similar Lacey s life
was to her own. So what happened to cause the double homicide? Without having
sufficient evidence whatever she came up with as a plausible reason would be
nothing more than speculation. The sound of heavy footsteps walking up the stairs
disrupted her musing. She was alone, wasn t she? Did Ray come home? No. He said
he would call her later tonight unless something happened in court. Hopping up, she

Essay on Frederick Douglas
Paper on Frederick Douglass
In the 1800 s, slavery was a predominant issue in the United States, one that most
Americans in the South dealt with daily. The Narrative of the Life of Frederick
Douglass reveals much about American history during the time of slavery as well as
expounds arguments for the abolition of slavery. As a historical document, it conveys
information about the slave family, work, the master slave relationship, and the
treatment and living conditions of slaves. As an antislavery tract, it argues against
commonly held beliefs about slavery s benefits and its morality, making strong
points for getting rid of slavery. In The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass,
Douglass reveals, through the story he tells the ... Show more content on

As these examples show, any member of a family could at any time be separated
from any other member. Controlling the family in this way, slaveholders took
away the potential strength that the slaves could have had if they were allowed to
have strong, lasting family bonds. Frederick Douglass narrative reveals a lot about
the work of the slaves. Some few slaves worked in the master s house, some more
worked in the master s production huts around the farm, but most of them worked
in the field under the watch of an overseer with a whip ready in hand. The slaves
would be punished, sometimes very severely, if they weren t working early in the
morning. They could also be punished if they didn t work fast enough or well
enough. After a long day of work, they would have to go to their huts and do their
own cooking and washing. They could only sleep a few hours a night after doing
all the work they had to do. When they were finished with their work they would
fall down on their beds and sleep till they [were] summoned to the field by the
driver s horn. (48) Looking at the slaves as property, the master wanted to use them
as much as he could to get his money s value. He didn t think of them as human
beings who had needs, but as machines
California s Direct Means of Democracy Essay
California is a democratic republic consisting of three branches of government. The
first is the executive branch, i.e. the governor and a group of elected constitutional
officers. Second is the judicial branch which consists of the Supreme Court of
California and the various local courts. Officials are appointed by the Governor and
ratified in the next general election. The third branch of government in Californiais
the legislative branch. It is a bicameral body which includes California s Senate and
Assembly. The Assembly makes up the lower house of the California State Legislature
and consists of eighty members, one representative from each county, who serve for
up to three two year terms. There are forty state senators who are able... Show more

In 1910, California Progressive Party member Hiram Johnson ran for governor.
Restore absolute sovereignty to the people that we may yet live in a free republic
was his slogan. In years prior to the election Californians began to notice a trend in
their state government. Californians were not being represented properly by the
legislature (Kesler). This is a reflection of California at the time. The gold rush had
brought massive amounts of people into the state. This led to an unprecedented
opportunity for new business. The Southern Pacific Railroad among other big
business infiltrated politics and corruption followed for decades. Law makers passed
laws which benefited them. The Progressives sought to give the people greater say in
making and dismantling legislation. In doing so the Legislative branch lost power.
To accomplish their goal in 1911 they enacted the ballot measures in order for
citizens to bypass legislature approval and have a measure placed on the ballot. An
initiative is a proposal for a new law that allows any citizen or organization to gather
a state defined amount of citizen signatures to qualify. Another ballot measure
enacted by the Progressives is a popular eferendum. This allows citizens to create a
ballot measure to repeal a specific legislative act by gaining a predetermined number
of signatures. Voters ratified these amendments in a special election of October 10,
1911 (Initiative Reform Institute).
Since their enactment,
The First Amendment Of Students To Free Speech Zones
The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution authorized citizens with the
freedom of religion, speech, press and assembly. This amendment also goes to the
college students. However, colleges limited the students constitutional rights by
enforcing the free speech zones . Colleges are places where it enable students to
encounter new and challenging ideas through open debates, but free speech zones
limited this. You can only express your ideas in the free speech zones, nowhere
else. This can be related to burning the flag (an action that intended to make a
political point against a country or its policies), if you can t express your ideas
anywhere you wants, doesn t it also indicates a person can t randomly choose a
place to burn the flag, it have to be in a specific area. Both theses is a way to
express your rights as a citizens of U.S. Therefore, colleges shouldn t restrict the
political speech of students to free speech zones. For instance, students went to
colleges to learn more about the world around them and to encounter people from
different backgrounds. Students would be able to expands their knowledge and
form their own opinions about the government and its policies, but it won t happen
if colleges restrict it to free speech zones. According to the text, American Flag
Stands for Tolerance, it states; Each individual is to have the freedom to develop by
his or her own lights, and not by the command of officialdom. That requires not just
the right to be let

A Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift
Satire in A Modest Proposal and Different Articles Jonathan Swift, author of A
Modest Proposal, tries to present different ideas in order to change the situation of
Ireland. Through his proposal, he is able to get people s attention, and the way he
uses satire throughout the article made his argument more successful. He wrote this
essay to show how ignored and bad the state of Irelandand its social classes are. In A
Modest Proposal , Swift effectively uses rhetorical exaggeration to express his
offense towards England s politicians, and the status of the poor people in the country
in the late seventeenth century. His purpose was to raise awareness of what was
taking place in that society. Swift expresses his growing annoyance towards the
inability of the politicians, the hypocrisy of the rich, the brutality of the English, and
the degrading situations in which the Irish peoplewere living in. Swift was trying to
persuade the people by proposing this extreme and unusual way for the purpose of
provoking them to come up with the right solutions. On the other hand, the Onion is
an organization that publishes articles on international, national, and local news. In
the following paragraphs, there are similarities and differences between Swift s essay
s satireand some articles from the Onion.
The similar idea that is included both in A modest proposal and the Onion article is
that: Swift proposes that selling babies of the poor for food and clothing could

  • 4. The Economic Disaster Of Detroit Detroit, Michigan once stood as the epitome of industrial American cities. In the mid 1990s Detroit had the highest income per capita and a booming automotive industry. During prohibition in the 1920s Detroit served as a major gateway for the importation of alcohol from Canada, whereby it thrived from this lucrative business. Also, around this same time the automotive industry was growing at a pace where jobs were begging to be filled, and the population of Detroitrose to nearly 2,000,000. The most astounding reason for the quick decline of Detroit was the closure of many automotive factories and the deterioration of the American auto industry. Detroit was a city with everything going for it. Its quick economic growth in the early 20th century had a lot to do with its geographical location. It was located close to the nations major coal and iron distributors and it was easily accessible by water via the Detroit River. Edmund Wilson wrote in a critique of Detroit, You can see here, as it is impossible to do in a more varied and complex city, the whole structure of an industrial society. Wilson elegantly notes that Detroit depends entirely on the automotive industry as its source of sustainability where other cities have a more diversified industrial scene. At the beginning of the 20th century Detroit s auto industry began. Henry Ford opened the Ford Motor company in 1903 and

I will also incorporate aspects of Positive Discipline in my classroom management plan. I chose Cooperative Discipline as the foundation of my personal management plan because I agree with the model that Linda Albert has created. I believe that students should be able to start making their own decisions in middle schoolinstead of constantly being put into a mold that some educators believe is necessary in order to teach. To me this is one of the most important things we can do for our students as middle school is a time when these children are full of self doubt and insecurities about their own worth. If we can bolster students feeling of worth it will help relieve stress and increase student productivity. I hope that the school I work with allows for teachers to use their own form of classroom management instead of having a blanket style throughout the school. I believe a blanket style could work well, but it would require everyone to be on the same page. Getting thirty or so teachers all from different backgrounds on the same page is going to be difficult. I wouldn t be completely against a blanket approach so long as I could see evidence that it worked well. For my class I want the students to feel a certain amount of control is theirs. To do this I want to allow them to create the rules for the classroom as well as the consequences for breaking those rules. Both of these activities will be teacher guided so that I can help make sure they are fair. I will also assign them tasks that deal with routine in the classroom such as taking up papers or helping to pass out things. This will allow them to feel ownership of their environment. I want them to feel that they can approach me to ask questions about anything the classroom including rules and

It went on to establish infrastructure based on international standards that handles most of the securities held and settled in de materialised form in the Indian capital markets. In the depository system, securities are held in depository accounts, which are similar to holding funds in bank accounts. Transfer of ownership of securities is done through simple account transfers. This method does away with all the risks and hassles normally associated with paperwork. Consequently, the cost of transacting in a depository environment is considerably lower as compared to transacting in certificates. • 16. The Breaking Apart of South African Families South Africa has long been known for the racist policies that were implemented by the government during apartheid. In reality, many of these policies were introduced before apartheid, and thus South Africa today is affected by centuries rather than just a few decades of racism. The racial practice and policies of the nineteenth century that developed out of South Africas mineral revolution were then carried into the apartheid era, and are of particular importance for black South African families. The desires of the white population to have sufficient labour and to monitor it while reserving urban areas for whites occasioned the government to create restrictive laws starting in the late nineteenth century which were carried into apartheid. These laws and practices broke apart the South African black family and has resulted in enduring consequences for black families and South Africa. With the mineral revolution, African men began to leave their families to go and work. From the beginning of European and African interaction in South Africa, the whites have been dependent on African labour, the mineral revolution merely intensified this. It also led to an agricultural revolution in order to feed the workers. African labour was cheaper than white labour and so they were desired by employers. This demand for cheap labour led to an availability of jobs which tempted some African men to migrate to these areas of work. There was continually a shortage, however, and the government

Susquehanna River Essay The health of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay was found based on Biological (macroinvertebrates and wildlife) and Chemicals characteristics (pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphates, nitrates, etc.) as well as physical observations (amount of forested buffers, wetlands, etc.) Overall it was concluded that the health of the water was good to excellent. This wide variety of life is a good indicator of the water s health. The chemical characteristics observed and documented were pH, temperature, phosphate, nitrate, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen. Each of these chemical levels were documented and found differently. Most were found using a kit or a device. The numbers found, would tell us how polluted the stream was and how much nutrients were in the water. Each chemical has a scale for telling what a good level is and what a bad level is. If an excess amount of nutrients was found in the water, algae could be formed. When algae is formed it blocks sunlight from shining into the water, which creates dead zones. This is called eutrophication. A dead zone is an area where there is no life. This can cause major problems like population issues and more. If the algae continues to grow in the river, the whole body of water can die out, and people as well as other organisms are very dependent on the Susquehanna. While on the river though, there was an absence of algae, so sunlight is able to get through the water, which is very good. Physical characteristics are important as well. While canoeing, many things were observed and notices. Tires were seen at the bottom of the river. This is most likely because of the highway that runs on both sides or the river, and over it on bridges too. Because of the highway, there is a high risk

The Bible And The Word inspire Essay The Bible and the Word quot;Inspire quot; According to the Random House Dictionary, the word inspire means quot;to infuse an animating, quickening, or exalting influence into, or to communicate or suggest by a divine influence. quot; This definition indicates, when applied to the scripture, that the stories and writings in the Bible did not come solely from the minds of the respective authors, but rather from a divine source. This suggests that the authors were scribes, reproducing what was instilled in them by God. This idea is strengthened by looking at distinct examples from the scripture that show that scripture is inspired, and not made up. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. quot; From the standpoint of a literary critic, these two passages represent the question at hand as to whether or not scripture is inspired. Literary criticism looks at the passage as a whole, and reads what it says, just as a normal person would. Using this method, we see easily that scripture is in fact inspired, because it states that there were no cleverly invented stories, but rather God s own words. God s plans for his people are carefully laid out, and there is much doubt that He would entrust average people to teach others about His word without careful explanation as to exactly what it is, and how it came to be. This is why much of the Bible, especially the Pentateuch, tells the historical story of the

  • 21. Advertising Campaign Aimed At Luring Consumers At The... In the wake of increasing competition in the world of business, most companies have embarked on advertisement campaigns aimed at luring consumers to their products. The nature of advertisements is that they accentuate the strength of a certain product while concealing the disadvantages of the same product. Essentially, all adverts aim at influencing the consumers to make favorable decisions in respect to the purchase of the products. While most companies go an extra mile in making their products more appealing in the eyes of the consumers, they sometimes do so at the consumer s expense. Usually, the manner in which the products are displayed does not reflect the true reality on the ground. This scenario results in the eventual disappointment of consumers and may even work negatively against the company. In the minds of the consumers, products that do not meet their expectations are considered as a fraud. In the course of advertisements, companies tend to portray a different picture of the products from the one that is real. In so doing, the company s end up raising the hopes and expectations of the consumers only to realize later that it was all hype. Good advertisements are persuasive and prompt consumers to purchase the intended products. However, companies are prone to mislead the consumers by appealing to their emotions in different ways. The advertisers have prior knowledge of the emotional attachment that consumers have towards certain products (Schrank, 2009). The

His persuasion is made very strong and hard hitting when he says we are standing at the most fateful fork in that path. So I want to end as I began, with a vision of two futures each a palpable possibility and with a prayer that we will see with vivid clarity the necessity of choosing between those two futures, and the urgency of making the right choice now. Reading this quote gives the feeling of being very inspired and feeling empowered. That being said, I feel Gore should have given more concrete action that he proposes we take. He should have said things such as we should stop allowing every person to drive a motor vehicle as much as they please. If he d said something along those lines, it puts a specific concern in mind and helps along the putting the reality of better, healthier world into fruition. The Constitutional System Within The United Kingdom A constitutional system within a country could be classified as one of the most important structures for democracy; it should not only illustrate the structures and power of a government, but also state the relationship between government and individuals. Constitutionalism can be classified into two distinct categories: a codified written Constitutions (ie: United States), and an uncodified unwritten constitution(ie: United Kingdom). Some consider the UK constitution as a risk to the democratic society due to its flexibility and the chance of forming dictatorship. However, others believe that an uncodified constitution could be beneficial within a constant changing and developing society. Hence, rules and agreements could be easily modified and become up to date under an uncodified constitution, whereas, a codified Constitution is less flexible with complex amendment procedures and often seen as out dated. In general, liberty and authority are two political factors that could be in constant conflict with each other. Although John Stuart Mill (1869) suggested in On Liberty, that the only time a state could interfere with an individuals freedom is by preventing harm from one another, the subject of a rigid constitution and liberal democracy is still an on going discussion. It comes from an indomitable will. Gandhi Cancer Each day, hundreds of people find themselves face to face with the word cancer. There is an estimate of 4600 new cancer diagnosis each day. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the united states, and is a major health concern worldwide. However, over the past 3 decades the survival rate for all cancers has climbed over 20%. In 1985, a surgeon in Tacoma, Washington known by the name of Gordy Klatt found himself walking around a track for 24 hours. His goal was to help raise money for the American Cancer Society and play his role in helping fight the nation s biggest health concern. During Klatts grueling time on the track, he completed over 83 miles and raised $27,000 in that single 24 hour period. He proved that one person really can make a difference. The following year, over 300 supporters joined Klatt in an overnight event. 19 teams partook in the event and the very first Relay for Life made history and raised $33,000. Gram negative bacteria are surrounded by two lipid bilayer membranes, which enclose the periplasmic space composed of peptidoglycan that contains ions and proteins. The two membranes differ in composition and function. With respect to composition, the inner or cytoplasmic membrane is composed of phospholipids, such as phosphatidylethanolamine, phospatidylglycerol and cardiolipin found in both the inner and outer leaflet. The outer membrane is highly asymmetric with its inner leaflet having the same phospholipid composition as the inner membrane and the outer leaflet consisting of lipopolysaccharides. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for the bacteria to establish a successful attachment on the host surfaces, they need to have an adaptation ability towards external changes. Certain cellular regulators transmit signals from the exterior to the inner part of the cell via cytoplasmic secondary messenger systems or so called alomers. In bacteria this function is performed by the 3 ,5 cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) which is an ubiquitous molecule found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes. The cAMP targets its receptor, the cAMP receptor protein (CRP) and this CRP cAMP complex formed binds to the DNA in order to activate the expression of genes that code for enzymes responsible for the supply of energy of the cell, besides the cAMP is a derivative of ATP independent of glucose. It is studied that the CRP cAMP is a global regulator of gene expression of almost 200 operons in E.coli. Type 1 fimbriation is dependent on growth phase and it is found that CRP cAMP regulates type 1 fimbriae expression during the exponential growth phase. CRP and cAMP levels are influenced by environmental conditions mainly by glucose availability and osmolarity. These particular conditions affect also the DNA topology in E. coli. There are others global regulators, expect the CRP cAMP, found that affect the type 1 fimbriae expression such as the H NS, the RpoS

Not only that, but sex has made its mark as an advertising tactic. However, this is not a new proposition. Sex in advertising emerged many decades ago and continues to claim its place. This presents a critical question. Does sexas an advertisingtool sell? Research shows that sexual appeals in advertising leaves a negative impression. Sex does not seem to be the optimal selling tactic. On the other hand, research has also found that sex does, in fact, sell by its stimulating and arousing effect. There are important factors to examine such as; audience, where sex is implemented, how it affects brand recall, how advertising works, it s relevancy, and how it is used. Regardless if sex sells or not, it continues to remain a highlighted concept in advertising and culture. Sex has been implemented as an advertising tactic for a long time. For example, in the 1910s an ad from Ivory Soap displayed naked sailors soaped up, waiting for a friend to hose them down (Smith, 2017.) Sexual themes have not let up since then. Sorrow (2012) notes a study constructed by Tom Reichert where he found that from 1983 to 2003, the rate of sexual ads increased from 15 percent to 27 percent. Smith (2017) examines a recent ad by Calvin Klein that depicts an orgy. However, regarding this ad, outrage broke out. This brings up the idea that sex does not sell. Defense Mechanisms By Julius Caesar And Othello Essay Defense mechanisms, a term coined by Anna Freud and used by the world s populace, come in numerous forms, among them: the repressed desire to punch someone in the face, projecting the anger you have for your boss out on your wife, or the never ending denial that your husband of twenty years is homosexual. These mechanisms are used so frequently that they have a distinct presence in the literary world. Why is this important? Shakespeare, a man clearly ahead of his time, wrote about defense mechanisms centuries before the term s existence even coming up with a mechanism Freud never considered. Typically, Shakespearean works such as Julius Caesarand Othelloare acknowledged for their tragic endings and the deception that leads the characters there; however, few acknowledge that Shakespeare incorporated defense mechanisms such as repression, denial, and projection even before Freud s theory on such mechanisms came to fruition. Additionally, Shakespeare provides evidence of betrayal as its own definitive defense mechanism, proving that it is in fact human nature to betray others. Julius Caesar is a story of conspiracy and betrayal that ultimately lead to the murder of Caesar. Upon returning from war, Caesar receives a warning to Beware the ides of March (1.2.20), an obvious foreshadowing of events to come. During this time, Brutus and Cassius confer on Caesar s ambition to become king, despite having refused the crown three times. Cassius, Casca and Cinna, conspire to

  • 43. The Border, The Imaginary And Unseen Border Essay To have a complete understanding of what a border is one must come to the other form of the border, the imaginary and unseen border. This abstract border separates people from one another without any real embodiment of the border itself. This particular border does not necessarily have concrete matter, which separates people like fences, gates, towers, and walls. Moreover, it does not have to be policed. Ergo, such border exists without any limitation of space and time. This abstract border does create the same effect as the concrete border, separating and labeling people, as them and us. Nonetheless, the abstract border affects people beyond labelling and separation. As the Xuncax siblings in El Norte succeeded in crossing the concrete U.S. Mexico border, they had to face the abstract border, the language border. Knowing nothing of English hinders them in coping with their new life in America. Language is the first border they have to pass in the new land. Because Enrique could not speak English, he is unable to find a job easily since he could not communicate with other people who might need his service. In the same boat, Rosa, being unable to comprehend her employer s explanation on how to use the washing machine, ends up washing all the clothes by hands and let them dry under the sun. In a word, their unavailability to cross the language border is apparently making an impediment for them to find a job for living or to execute the employer s request correctly.

According to a report from the U.S National Academy of Sciences, it will take 3 million years for radioactive waste stored in the U.S. as of 1983 to decay to background levels (thinkquest.org). Who wants this amount of waste stored in the environment where they live? Currently in the U.S. nuclear power plants produce 3,000 tons of this high level waste each year (thinkquest.org). If nuclear power continues to be produced, this amount of waste will only continue to increase, causing a bigger dilemma as to what to do with the waste. This will be my main focus, by referring to the ideas of Arjun Appadurai s media and ideoscapes as a way of Maori being portrayed as menances to society because of the focus on the assumption that Maori are taking advantage of the system or are criminals, as can be seen in The New ZealandHerald, Police Ten 7 (a popular New Zealand program) and some of the latest statistics from the Department of Corrections and Quick Stats. I will attempt to justify my point of how Maori can be considered a diasporic community in New Zealand, based on the ideas of Clifford (1994) and Safran (1991) who explore the world of the forever changing definition of diaspora. My argument: That the ideas of Arjun Appadurais media and ideoscapes best explain how the identity of diasporic Maori has been created in New Zealand. What can we call identity? Identity has been linked to self or many selves to serve the society one is in (James, 1980, p. 294), but one theory I quite liked, was the idea that self and society help to shape one another by societal influence on one self and the outcomes of society by ones actions in response to the influence (Ashmore, Lee, 1997, p. 191). Personally this idea resonated well with me in the attempt to define identity for Maori because it explains two things: 1.The world we live in is

In the play, Hamlet has an unknown relationship with ophelia that could be fake; But there could be some reasoning behind the relationship and why he would be using her. Throughout the play Hamletdoes not treat Ophelia well and sometimes even insults her. He had said many times Get thee to a nunnery (III.I). He would often say this throughout this conversation as another way to make her feel bad. That he was trying to hurt but still look as if he loved her to others. Also later when Ophelia talks about what happened she said He took me by the wrist and held me hard (II.I). That in the conversation between hamlet and Ophelia when Hamlet was not verbally hurting her, he would sometimes get physical. Hamlet would often use this as a way to show how insane he was getting. Also when Ophelia was talking to Polonius she said And thrice his head thus waving up and down (II.I). This is another example of when Hamlet do things to make himself seem more insane.
