  1. Simply Stated: Successful Board Members Take Actions that That Help the Org Reach its Goals They use their talents/influence to make a difference for the organization. They leave a powerful legacy. What will your legacy be?
  2. They leave a legacy….
  3. The development of personal values happens during your early life and whether you realize it or not, they influence everything you do or don’t do. They are expressed everywhere in your everyday life, although are beneath of your usual awareness. Just like the biggest part of an iceberg is beneath the water and determines where it goes, your values determine your journey throughout your whole life. Mostly invisible to others, your values may remain unknown to you too - if you don’t deliberately take time to define them.  And when you don’t know them, life seems a senseless race to fulfill one seemingly important goal or another, leaving you increasingly unfulfilled, drained and out of control. Great leaders -- whether they lead entire organizations or groups within them -- leave a legacy that transcends them and cements their contribution to the growth and transformation of their organization.
  4. Many people build imbalanced networks, peruse the wrong kind of relationships, or leverage relationships ineffectively. Network size doesn’t matter… Knowing lots of people spreads you thin Political animals with lots of connections are often viewed by peers as self-serving (and lose support as a result)
