ARCHITECTURAL PORTFOLIO
SIDDANTH SATYAPAL RAO
ABOUT
Throughout my schooling in architecture, i have learnt that design is never
consistent. The process of starting and finishing a design varies for different
disciplines. Concepts and philosophies can be either functional or hypothetical
and framing concepts depends on various factors like location, culture and
tradition, or it can be as simple as reflecting the surrounding.
Deriving Concepts
I am an architect and have been in the construction field since 2015. I find
myself to be a punctual and a hardworking individual and can blend with any
sort of work environment. I appreciate innovations in design and would
welcome even unrealistic ideas, because everything from simple tools to
technologically advanced innovations was once an unrealistic idea in the minds
of pioneers.
Myself
There is no specific philosophy binding to my design process. “I believe that a
designer’s mind must be open and unbaised to every possibility and must be
able to grasp and evolve every suitable idea.”
Design Philosophy
In the following pages you will come across some of my work samples which
includes my research project, a sample of my school project, my work samples
and accomplishments during internship and after graduation.

The concept is centered on the benefits of low rise housing community, since
highrise residences lose the essence of community gathering. Various options
were developed to understand which one suits best for the site in terms of
climate and site surrounding.

The design was challenging as it limited the percentage of groung coverage.
Therefore, ample landscaped areas had to be provided within the complex.
The development finally included a better view developed within the
residential complex. Units included 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, a block
consisting of studio apartments and 5 villas. The gymnasium was located
centrally in order to provide convenient access to all residential units.

BRANDED EXECUTIVE APARTMENTS
Major concern underlining the design was the view for each unit. The building’s “V” shape is able to
provide maximum view of the sea side. However, the introvert view will include the main road.
Every unit is designed at an angle to incorporate maximum view.
Design Concept
The design was expected to follow modern style and yet preserve the identity of the islamic world.
Ther perforated skin on the facade, sought to matintain the islamic essence to the contemporary
form. The mass protruding to highlight the “V” also plays an inportant role in maintaining the
islamic identity.

Design Concept
The mjor concern for planning was to incorporate maximum view towards
the sea. The shape of inverted “Z” seems to be a reasonable base for
designing, considering site costraints and requirements.

Concept on Aesthetics
The project was a part of a design compteition organized by Katara Hospitality. The
brief stated for design of Branded Studio Apartments which can rise upto 7 stories
and consist of 120 units with aminity spaces on the ground and mezzanine floors.
IN11
Design Brief
The task given to me was to prepare layouts for the studio apartments, design aminity spaces and design office spaces for
the mezzanine floor. The building consists of units with different areas, primarly classified to 40sqm and 60sqm units. The
mezzanine included a game room, a business center and an auditorium.
It was necessary to follow standard bylaws for Delux Hotel while designing. Hence provision of souvineer stall, a
restaurant, a bar was necessary and a makeshift multi-purpose hall was necessary.
