Yes, you have an ECM platform and it serves your information governance needs. But, did you know it can do more, much more? The newest line of thinking is called “xECM” and it involves extending ECM’s existing strengths as a guardian, gatekeeper, and bond for all things digital into the lead applications where work actually takes place. Technical Overview of Microsoft SharePoint Online - Presented by AtidanDavid J Rosenthal
The document discusses SharePoint Online and its capabilities. It provides details on using SharePoint Online for team collaboration, social features, business intelligence, search, content management, and development. The last section describes the topology of SharePoint Online across multiple datacenters and servers.
Empowering Teamwork with Mobile and Intelligent Intranet with SharePointDavid J Rosenthal
The real value of collaboration comes to life only when it’s integrated with the tools people use to communicate, create and collaborate such as Microsoft Office.
It needs to be accessible anywhere and anytime from the multiple devices that people use in their personal and professional life
It needs to be open, familiar, and transparent
It needs to be simple, easy to use, and backed by enterprise-grade IT control, security and compliance
That’s why SharePoint Online which is part of the Office 365 suite brings this together for all users.
SharePoint Online delivers the powerful features of SharePoint without the associated overhead of managing the infrastructure on your own. Flexible management options ensure that you still retain the control you need to meet the compliance requirements of your organization. You can purchase SharePoint in the cloud as a standalone offering or as part of an Office 365 suite, where you can also get access to Exchange, Skype for Business, the Office clients, and web apps.
INFOGOV14 - Trusting Your KM & ECM Strategy to SharePointJonathan Ralton
The document discusses trusting a knowledge management (KM) and enterprise content management (ECM) strategy to Microsoft SharePoint. It outlines SharePoint's capabilities that enable it to effectively support large-scale content management activities, including rich metadata structures, taxonomy, security features, workflows, search, integration with line of business systems, and support for multiple languages. Governance is required to balance control with flexibility when adopting SharePoint as an information management platform.
The document contains an agenda for a conference with topics related to SharePoint, Microsoft Graph, and Office 365. The agenda includes sessions on SharePoint Framework, building portals, provisioning assets, Azure Functions, and Microsoft Graph. Breaks are scheduled between sessions. Speaker bios are also included at the end.
This document discusses achieving content governance across collaborative and social business platforms. It begins by introducing content governance and the challenges of governing multiple target repositories, including traditional ECM, email, file shares, SharePoint, cloud ECM, and cloud file sharing. It then discusses different governance approaches like repository-based, content type-based, and lifecycle-based governance. It proposes a hybrid lifecycle model and "policy hub service" to help achieve governance across platforms in both on-premise and cloud environments. It concludes by questioning whether unified governance of SharePoint, email, and file shares provides full governance and how to best approach hybrid governance.

Information architecture search_bettertogetherAgnes Molnar
1) Information architecture and enterprise search work better together to organize content and improve findability. Proper information architecture through tools like content types, metadata, and document sets helps surface relevant content.
2) SharePoint 2010 includes improved search capabilities like Boolean search, suggestion, and refinement panels. FAST Search further enhances search with features like sorting, previews, and federated search.
3) To optimize the user experience, organizations should focus on both organizing their content through information architecture practices, and leveraging the full capabilities of their search platform. Iterative improvements to both content and search lead to better discovery of information.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

OpenText Content Suite is recognized by analysts and customers as the leader for records management and structured document management.
Our work for integrating SharePoint Online and Office 365 with the Content Suite focuses on two key areas.
Capturing content that is created in Office 365 and SharePoint to cover it under an organizations records management and archiving policies, or contributing content to a larger document management process, like for example an engineering document management solution
Allow Office 365 and SharePoint users to discover, access and collaborate on content managed in Content Server, without having to leave their familiar environment
CS 16 introduces a new, modern user experience. Role-based perspectives create a workspace tailored to the user and his/her current task, e.g. driven by an application like Extended ECM for SAP.
AGA 16 brings this new user experience to Office 365 (and SharePoint 2016) with a new Content Server app. There will be the full-screen “perspective” displaying the complete workspace as rendered by Content Server. Thanks to the new design, this very naturally fits into Office 365 without any major adjustments.
In addition, individual “widgets” can be deployed as SharePoint web parts. These can then be placed individually on SharePoint sites, e.g. to add a list of files or an activity feed to a team site.
We are also planning to bring application specific widgets to Office 365, including Extended ECM for SAP and Extended ECM for Oracle. Other applications will follow later as well.
