This document discusses online learning in K-12 classrooms through the use of learning management systems (LMS). An LMS is a virtual platform that allows teachers to organize course content and tools, and allows students to access materials and collaborate online. Key benefits of LMS include accessibility, organization of content and communication in one place, customization for individual learners, and opportunities for active participation, enhanced instruction, online assessment, and monitoring of student progress. Research shows LMS can increase student performance, engagement, creativity, and provide collaborative opportunities through integrated tools. Commonly used LMS platforms are also discussed.
