The document describes a capacitive sensor system for detecting window and door jamming during automatic closing. The system uses two wires embedded in door profiles as electrodes to monitor changes in capacitance when an object enters the electric field between the wires. A multi-frequency technique allows the system to differentiate between body parts and water. The sensor can be integrated into existing profiles and provides both capacitive non-contact detection as well as tactile contact detection for redundancy. The evaluation circuit is miniaturized in an ASIC for a cost-effective solution.
