This document provides information and tips for students taking the May 16th AP World History exam. It outlines what to bring on exam day, when to arrive, and instructions during the exam. The exam will be 3 hours and 5 minutes long and consist of a 55 minute multiple choice section followed by essay writing. • Arrive at 7:15 a.m.
• Bring photo i.d.! Drivers’ license or school i.d.

• Bring your favorite pens for essays and a favorite
pencil
• Bring water, snack, and a jacket/sweatshirt.
• Watch (cannot use cell phone for time)
• You will need a signed permission slip from your
parents if you want to go home after the exam.
Otherwise… BACK TO CLASS!

4. Wednesday night . . .
 Review how to score points on the
essays!
 Sleep as much as you can the night
before the test. Eat a normal
breakfast (maybe eat something
that will get your brain and body in
gear.)

5. Information for May 16th-TEST DAY
 Do NOT bring your cell phones to the
testing site. If you feel you must carry
it, turn your cell phone OFF and place in
the secure bin (that proctors will provide)
until all tests are complete and turned in.
 Proctors will have to cancel your test score
if you turn on your cell phone or use it at
any time during a break or while others
are testing.

• Eliminate answer choices to make
“educated guesses” on the ones
you are not sure about.
• Record your answers as you go.
Don’t wait until the end to fill in your
answer sheet.

• The questions are generally
chronological from 1 to about 35
with earlier time periods first.
• The chronology “restarts” about
question 35.
• Images, charts, maps, graphs,
and reading analysis – be ready
to work for the answer on these.

make sure you see the
TRUE/FALSE in each answer
choice.
•Remember, this test is not
designed for you to know all the
answers to all the questions.

•Mandatory 10 minute reading
period.
There is a 10 minute reading period for you to read
the “free response” essay prompts and the DBQ
documents. Spend that time in reading and
prewriting for your DBQ.

responses to the 3 essays.
• Part A - DBQ Essay Writing
• Part B - Comparative
• Part C - Continuity & Change
• Time management is critical.
• The time remaining in the test may NOT be announced.
• Make sure that YOU HAVE ANSWERED THE PROMPTS!
