George Gascoigne
In 1573, George Gascoigne published For That He Looked Not upon Her, a poem in which his
careful and methodical approach to the sonnet form is evident. Two years later, he published
Certayne Notes of Instruction on Making of Verse, which only further served to cement his
reputation as meticulous and deliberate with his choice of language and form every choice
Gascoigne makes is made with a purpose in mind. This is especially evident in For That He
Looked Not upon Her, wherein Gascoigne utilizes both the intentionally chosen sonnet form and
vivid imagery to develop his criticism of the classic sonnet in which the beloved s refusal of the
author only serves to make him more determined to pursue her. The sonnet form is typically one

In Gascoigne s metaphor, a mouse that had escaped a trap is unlikely to return, even if given
motivation to return to the trap and try for the food again (5 8). The idea of an tiny, innocent
animal representative of sonneteers caught in a trap which represents their beloved s chronic
rejection, is designed to engender feelings of sadness and pity in readers. Likewise, in
Gascoigne s second metaphor, it is improbable that a fly that has been burned by a flame would
approach any flame thereafter (9 12), once again inspiring compassion in the reader for the
sonneteers emotional pain. In more modern times, flies are seen as less unclean and disgusting
creatures than they were in the past, but in Gascoigne s day, that would not have been the case.
The same holds true for mice in Gascoigne s day, mice were seen as pests to be rid of at all costs.
No one would have sympathized with a mouse. So Gascoigne s argument changes contextually;
instead of creatures to be sympathized with, the mouse and fly and by extension the sonneteers are
simply nuisances to be rid

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is an emergency treatment option for a patient
experiencing MI. PCI can be performed within 90 minutes of arriving to the hospital. Emergency
diagnostic coronary angiography should be performed to identify blocked coronary artery before
PCI (Urden et al., 2014, p. 365). Reperfusion drugs refer to the fibrinolytic therapy that will
facilitate reperfusion in emergency situation to open up the artery and decreases the myocardial
oxygen demand. There is criteria to qualify for the fibrinolytic therapy which are symptoms that
appeared no more than 12 hours ago, ST segment elevation on electrocardiogram, ischemic chest
pain unrelieved by nitroglycerin, and no conditions that might cause hemorrhage (Urden

The American Revolution And The Indian War
The American Revolution took place in 1754 1781. The revolution was marked by the
beginning of the French and the Indian war. This war primarily took place in America. The war
involved France and Britain. They were fighting for colonial supremacy in the American North.
The colonizers that were mostly the British officials who sought the opinions of the general
public. This was led to the war in 1754 at the Albany Congress. The American s fought together
with the British while the French joined forces with the different Native tribe. This revolution is
referred to as the French and Indian War. The British ended the French Indian War that lasted for
seven years (1754 1763) by capturing Canadian key forts and France key cities in Ohio Valley.
During the Pontiac s Uprising, Pontiac was the chief of Ottawa. Pontiac led native tribes to join
together and raided American settlements and British forts in Ohio Valley. These raids were signs
of the tribes rebelling against foreigners, who were stealing tribal lands. The British forces were
powerful, and the Pontiac s rallies were subdued. George Grenville s solution was a proclamation,
issued in 1763, temporarily banning all colonial settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains
(Berkin 2014). The Proclamation Line of 1763 was the boundary that Britain established in the
Appalachian Mountains, west of which white settlement was banned; it was intended to reduce
conflict between Indians and colonists (Belkin 2014).

The Importance Of Pressure On High School Sports
Pressure and High School Sports seem to go hand in hand these days. Whether we like pressure
or not, it is difficult to avoid. We experience pressure because of standards that others expect us to
accomplish. While some people may do well under pressure, many of us do bad under pressure.
The Kimberly Girls Volleyballteam will experience a lot of pressure as they head into the State
tournament this weekend. Expectations are very high for them because they have had a lot of
success so far this season. I talked to a girl who is currently on the varsity volleyball team that is
going to state. Payton is not a starter and doesn t get to see the court often but she is just as
important as anyone else on the team. She discussed with me some of the expectations that coaches
and fans have for them. Every game our coach always tells us not to be satisfied, and that s kinda
our team moto. I definitely think that s the expectation from our coaches is to not be satisfied with a
win or how we played just to always make it better. I believe the expectation from the fans is just to
stay positive and work as hard as we can.
With expectations high from the coaches and fans, this can add a lot of pressure and stress onto
the girls. As Payton said, I definitely think that s the expectation from our coaches it to not be
satisfied with a win or how we played just to always make it better, we can see how they are
pressured to win again because they can t be satisfied with winning one game. They have
expectations to make it far in their season because they are not satisfied after one game, they want
to win more and be number one.
I also talked to a fan, Quinn Johnson, and asked what he thought the pressures were on the girls
this year. He replied with: I think this season the pressures are there own standards. Last years
team was not as good so other teams and fans did not expect so much out of them. But after we
won the FVA this year and got the #1 seed for the playoffs more pressure was added to the team
coming into playoffs. This helps to see from a fan perspective what they believe the pressures are
and what they expect the girls to accomplish this season.
As you can probably see, with the girls success this year they

The Ambiguity Of Gender In The Poetry Of Robert Herrick
Robert Herrick wrote hundreds of poems about real or imagined women. It is generally conceded
that his many fresh and fragrant mistresses were purely imaginary, but understanding how he
constructs gender is vital in developing an accurate view of his poetic art. Modern criticism often
depicts Herrick as a propagandist for the received standards of his day, yet close examination of his
texts reveals that he recognized the ambiguities of genderand the inconsistencies of his era s beliefs
pertaining to women, disrupted and interrogated them, and often engaged in outright parodic
critique of accepted seventeenth century gender mores. The stance Herrick takes in relation to
gender issues is rooted in the double coding of femalepresence that

Definitions of intellectual property, its legal protections, and the impact of the moral justifications
that exist in cyberspace
Intellectual property defines a wide range of the property created by investors, artistes, authors, and
musicians. The law governing intellectual property naturally includes the copyrights, trademarks,
and patents law. Its main intention is to motivate the development of art, sciences, and information
giving defined rights of property to all the artistes, who include inventors of science and art. These
rights assist artists to safeguard themselves from violation, unauthorized misuse, and use of their
creations. Service marks and trademarks safeguard distinguishing characteristics (such as a package
and name design) that are linked with certain products and services that display commercial source
(Blakley, Johanna 2010).
Laws safeguarding copyrights have strong links with the England law of the eighteenth century.
Complete patent laws may be tracked from the seventeenth century in England, but they have
always been part of the law of United States from the colonial period (Spinello, 2004). The concepts
of patent and copyright were all included in the constitution of the United States. The congress has
the power to encourage the development of useful art and science. It does this by safeguarding
constraint time to inventors and authors the

Epic Of Beowulf Argumentative Essay
You have known about the brilliance of Beowulf the Great, slayer of the foul beast Grendel and
of Grendel s reviled mother, who dragged the ring supplier to her den, much to her own lament;
Beowulf, who slew the monster of the fortune store, the mythical beast who killed our kin for the
loss of yet one gold glass. In spite of the fact that Beowulfs own cutting edge, Naegling, fizzled
him in desperate hour, with the assistance of his brother Wiglaf, he put a conclusion to the reviled
worm, however he lost his life in the fight.
Presently you should know about the childhood of Beowulf and how he picked up the quality of
thirty men in his grasp, the quality he used to tear the arm from the killing Grendel, the descendent
of Cain, the main murder. King Hrethel, understood among the tribes, a honorable pioneer of the
Geats, was as a father to Beowulf, however Beowulf was not the child of his loins. You know from
the story of Beowulf the man that he conveyed the pennant of war into fight interestingly at seven
years old.
The person who conveys the pennant serves to rally the warriors at vital circumstances. He should
hold it up high and never discharge his grasp upon it. This the youthful Beowulf did as no
developed man had ever done. He planted his feet in the earth like ... Show more content on

until, as years pass, she realizes she didn t find the love she was hoping for. Joe s love is
possessive. He sees her as a special thing and not a special person. He is often too interested in
his own big voice to listen to Janie and expects her to follow his commands instead of her
wishes. Yet, she stays with him in Eatonville until he dies twenty years later and only stands up
to Joe and forces him to listen to her feelings moments before he dies. This scene had the biggest
impact on me because I loved seeing Janie finally speak her mind. Although it was late, she finally

What is Premarital Counseling?
Premarital Counseling is defined as a type of therapy that helps couples prepare for marriage and
it is often provided by a licensed therapist. Therapist is known as a marriage or family therapist.
There are also the options of seeking counseling through your religious institution if that works
better for you and your future spouse (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2013) .

Doing so will strengthen you and your spouse s relationship prior to marriage and perhaps get some
things in check first. Premarital counseling also teaches communication and conflict resolution
techniques. This will help to increase the level of marital satisfaction. It is also found/suggested
that greater communication skills reduce the risk of divorce. The counseling should also bring up
discussions that are vital to a couple s relationship. Whatever these things are they should be
hatched out before so there are no surprises in the relationship. These issues may be minor or
major depending on what s discussed. This may be a time to sort out like gender roles,
expectations, and finances most importantly. Premarital counseling is basically making you aware
of strengths and growth areas therefore insuring a happy and long future together as one (Stebbins,
2011; Duncan, Childs Larson, 2010).
Types of Premarital Counseling
As stated earlier there are various approaches to premarital preparation simply because there are
some many different types of people to connect to the different approaches offered (Duncan, Childs
Larson, 2010). Furthermore there has been no significant evidence that says that any one approach
is more effective than others (Duncan, Childs Larson, 2010). So based on information found

The Theme Of Lessing s The Grass Is Singing
Lessing s first novel The Grass is Singing exemplifies the imperial of the English idea of home
/land as it prevails in the colony. British settlers in Post World War I South Africa, Not only
identified imperial England as home but also sought to replicate on the African veldt the domestic
ideal that in turn became a sign of white privilege (Tseng 159). Lessing s identification with the
mother country is mediated through her gendered experience of colonial life. The Grass is Singing

The For The Interethnic Church Experience
For the interethnic church experience, I went to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in
Carmichaels, Pennsylvania. I attended with three of my friends Ashley, Cassandra, and Jennifer.
My friends came along in order to gain the experience from the church with me. We all had
different experiences, but we all felt glad that we went together and to the church. When planning to
go to the church, I read some articles on the proper etiquette of the church, and how to act in an
Orthodox church. The rules included sitting up straight or standing for the whole service as they
do in other parts of the world, and how to venerate an icon. I was nervous to do all these steps,
because I did not want to mess up or offend anybody. However, I practiced and tried to be
prepared. Also, picking an outfit was a struggle because I wanted to be very respectful to the
culture. The church that I attend when I am at home is very relaxed, and do not care if a person
wears jeans to the service. They still want the people in attendance to be respectful and modest,
but besides that, people can wear whatever the feel comfortable in. When preparing to attend this
church however, I picked my outfit carefully and hoped that I would be dressed up enough. When I
arrived, I saw that I was and felt more relaxed. I was also nervous about the language barrier, as I
do not know Serbian. I did not know if the whole service would be in Serbian or if only part of it
would be in a foreign language. I was excited to

Types Of Deep Sea Mining Essay
A huge problem with deep sea mining is that the sea/ ocean waters is something that humans have
not even begun to scratch the surface of grasping a full understanding of it. The sea is the largest
biological habitat on this earth and is not understood. There are so many undiscovered incredible
organisms are all potential he homes by deep sea mine. Extreme temperatures, pitch black darkness
and a giant amount of bio diverse city, most of which are very sensitive to any disturbance just a
little light could throw them off. Is sure of all this, with such a limited understanding of all these
concepts and increasing demand for miningcould result in a detrimental damage to the environment
which is possibly irreversible. Impacts including the degrading of habitats, possible extinctions
from oil being spelled in the work process to toxic plumes. From my research I have concluded
that there are three different types of Deep seamining minerals that are of high interest to big
industries and governments worldwide which consists of Polymetallic nodules (manganese

Essay on The Global Warming Debate
The concept of global warming has become one of the most widely debated and controversial
topics of our time. Scientists learned long ago that the earth s climate has powerfully shaped the
history of humanity. However, it is only in the past few decades that research has revealed that
humans have a significant influence on the climate as well. A growing body of scientific evidence
indicates that since 1950, the world s climate has been warming, primarily as a result of emissions
from the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of tropical forests. More importantly, an article
titled Global Warmingpublished in the New York Times shows that methane, a gas that is emitted
from landfills, livestock and oil gas facilities,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sources for this paper include articles, books, and websites. Terms will be defined as the arguments
are presented. Scientists who believe in global warming say that global warming is the result of
carbon dioxide and other air pollutants collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket,
trapping the sun s heat which causes the earth to heat up. In fact, according to Amber Jenkins, site
editor for Global Warming: Vital Signs of the Planet, meteorologists at NASA (National Aeronautics
Space Administration) have reported that Earth is the hottest it has been in at least 400 years, and
possibly even the last 2,000 years. Studies indicate that the average global temperature has
increased by approximately 0.5 1.0В°F (0.3 0.6В°C) over the last century (Jenkins). However, CEI
scientists have reported that there is no proof that rising temperatures are linked to global warming.
The Earth has gone through various periods of cooling and warming throughout its history. The
rising temperatures are simply the Earth warming itself up from the previous ice age (Competitive
Enterprise Institute). Contrasting with the virtual world of computer simulations, the real world
presents a very different picture. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) website even states
that: During the last 2,000 years, there have been departures from the stability of earth s natural

Due to the recent economic crisis, it is time to rethink corporate strategy, especially as it applies
to the global environment. In 2009, the value of international trade was expected to decline by as

predicting a rough decade to come with weak global growth, pressures from overcapacity,
persistently high unemployment, volatility in the financial markets, costlier capital, a greatly
expanded role from governments, a much larger burden of regulation and taxation for all, and
maybe even increased protectionism. (Ghemawat 56) These are exactly the types of things the

Although the top 15 metropolitan areas represent more than a third of the US market, Wal Mart
only has a 4% share in them, compared with 10% of the national market. (57) The current
business environment has also seen a shift toward lower pricing market wide. This trend will
become especially pronounced as companies expand into poorer markets. As multinationals
continue their global expansion efforts, it will be important to not only tailor strategy to local
markets but also individual products and services. This section highlights a very important topic
as it points out the current focus on the urban elite. The urban elite make up a relatively
insignificant portion of potential customers worldwide. If companies can find a way to serve
even the poorest of customers, growth potential would be practically unlimited and success all but
guaranteed. The focus on lower pricing is an interesting and rather amusing point. Companies like
Wal Mart who have been chastised for their efforts to continually cut prices at all costs may, and
more than likely have helped the global economy in the long run when it comes to cost cutting
efforts because companies Wal Mart deals with have already started to focus on how to be as cheap

protectionism, and concerns about the environment, are causing companies to seemingly blindly

Sequencing Deficits Are Not Discriminatory Of Any Age
Sequencing refers to the ability to carry out an activity in a logical, timely, and orderly manner
(Early, 2006). Sequencing deficits are not discriminatory of any age and are commonly found in
individuals with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, cognitive perceptual disorders,
and mental health disorders. Some diagnoses that are tied to sequencing deficits are CVA, TBI,
Autism, ADHD, and dementia, to name a few (Occupational Therapys Role in Cognitive Disorders,
2011). Sequencing deficits may range from minor to severe and require occupational therapy to
increase successful completion of everyday activities by providing techniques that improve task
sequencing. Sequencing comes as automatic thought for most individuals when performing a
simple task, such as making a bed or brushing teeth. For instance, individuals whose sequencing
abilities are intact will know that a fitted sheet must be placed onto a bed before a comforter, but
for some with cognitive deficits or learning disabilities, this task may be confusing and difficult to
remember. Due to cognitive decline, individuals that once had the ability to perform tasks in
correct sequences may now have difficulty doing so. These difficulties are common in patients
with dementia as memory declines (Clark et al., 2012). Individuals with sequencing deficits require
some form of visual aid or verbal cueing to complete a task correctly. If an individual who has
difficulty sequencing activities

An Effective Technique For An Organization
Changes affect every person in a business, including the managers and the employees. Managing
modifications in a business can be difficult and countless people within an organization can be
resistant for various reasons. Participation is considered an effective technique for reducing
resistance to change, other techniques includes education and communication, facilitation and
support, and negotiation.
Change in a business can be uncomfortable since it requires surrendering a certain way of
thinking and performing processes and implementing a novel way to accomplish a business
goal. Encouraging employees to participate in the alteration can be one of the utmost ways to
reduce the resistance to change. An employee who participates in the process of the conversion
is further likely to embrace the change. Therefore, one way is to encompass groups that will be
affected by innovative procedures in the development of fresh ideas. In other words, ask workers
for their opinions and suggestions and integrate their solutions. If people are given the
opportunity to seize responsibility for specific parts of a program their sense of ownership will
craft stronger advocates. Also valuable input can be gained from employees who really perform the
day to day work as management may not have the information needed to change the design. Before
making slight adjustments anyone who will be affected or who opposes the transformation should
be brought into the decision making process, provided they

19th Century American Women
During the nineteenth century remarkable benevolent and social movements, such as the
antislavery, suffrage and temperance movement, were merely organized and promoted by women
and impacted American families, and their religion. Hence, through history female religious
activism in America can be separated in four periods. Since the Great Awakening, which started in
1797, and the revivals women were as prominent during the revivals as men, however were not
provided with recognition or the right to lead the events. Starting in 1797 women played an
important role in (synonym for fostering) revivals and within evangelism during the Second Great
Awakening which ended in 1840, thus, the female reforms were not independent. This

Furthermore, I will describe and assert the shift within families command structures, based on
changes in America s economic, which presented women with new liabilities and increased
influences. Those changes enabled women with the opportunities to challenge their submissive role
within their homes and families, but also the clerical hierarchy. Benefiting from revivals and the
benevolence activism a negotiation on the role of women began, which climaxed in protests, where
I use the Woman s Crusade of 1873 to 1874, in order to exemplify the discrepancy women were
caught in. Therefore, I will amplify the problematics, women were facing due to misuse of
distilled liquor, which were rooted in the woman s personal reasons, but also the incongruity with
their religious believes. Further, I will try to explain the success of the woman s crusade, which is
partially rooted in a abandoning of female gender roles. The challenging of the male monopoly led
to a redistribution of power among the sexes and a dichotomy regarding the role of women. This
oppugnancy is based on the negotiations of women s rights within society and church versus
traditional evangelical values. Therefore I will claim that the evangelical women s endeavors
regarding female independency is rooted within benevolence activism, such as the woman s
crusade, which challenged the traditional evangelical perception of a woman, and scrutinized the
male monopoly, resulting within a dichotomy of womanhood between the role of a traditional
female role and the first attempts on

Democratic Deficit in the European Union
Most voters seem to take the opportunity to give the incumbent national government a good
kicking during European elections, as seen in the UK, Spain and France, rather than vote on a
broad manifesto of ideas. This is fuelled further by MEPs campaigning on local issues rather than
European ones. This is an example of part of the democratic deficit in the European Parliament. To
further show how there is a democratic deficit in the European Parliament I will explain how it is
largely inaccessible to its European citizens and how the European Parliament lacks the power that
it requires to resolve the problems in the Union. I will then describe some unsuccessful attempts at
solutions and conclude with some possible future remedies.... Show more content on

The balance between these two branches differed from country to country. With the gradual
development of the EEC, more and more areas of public policy were transferred from national
governments to the community with the result that the overall powers of the executives within
member countries of the EU have increased while parliamentary powers have decreased.
The main argument is that the parliament is too weak, while the council is too powerful. The
executive branches, the Council and the Commission, are not drawn from Parliament and are thus
not accountable to it in the way it would be, for example, in the UK through a vote of no
confidence. The two branches are completely separate, which can mean that there is not an
effective check as there was meant to be. The Parliament is too weak to hold either of the executive
branches to account, meaning that they can pass legislation without the consent of the Parliament,
except when co decision applies on matters pertaining to qualified majority voting in the Council.
Compared to many national and sub national legislatures, the European Parliament has a relatively
low profile. In the past, some scholars of the European Union judged it to be less important than
other governing institutions of the Union. However, since the mid 1980 s the European Parliament
has undergone many substantial changes, probably more than any other major European Union

religion absolutely in an unexpected way, nevertheless both of them concur that religion is a vital
part of a general public. Amid his profession, Marx talked little on the subject of religion.
Notwithstanding, what is inadequate in volume is compensated for in power and exhaustiveness.
As stated by Bell (2008) some of Marx s best known obitera are about religion. It is the murmur of
the persecuted animal, the fanciful satisfaction of men. It is the reflex of this present reality and
best of all it is the opium of the general population. Marx (1972). ... Show more content on

I.What is the media outlet? Trauma is frequently depicted in various forms of popular media.
Media outlets such as movies, television series, books, music, the daily news and any other

display trauma often are movies. Movies are powerful enough to have a massive impact on
society for various reasons. With its impact, movies can provide people who are in unfavorable
situation a sense of hope, fulfil the fantasy and dreams of both children and adults and overall
allow society to escape for an hour or two from their reality. Some movies such as Deepwater

How Poetry Can Create An Atmosphere Of Awareness
Poetry, written by many people from all walks of life, and times of history. Each piece serves a
purpose. Weather to inform us of our impending doom, or to lighten our hearts on the subject of
death. Some poets use this tool to express love to their significant others, and many use the tool to
create an atmosphere of awareness. Poetrycan have many different meanings. They come in
epics, short phrases, misguided sentences, abstract pictures, song lyrics, haikus and regular five
line paragraphs. Poetry is a form of entertainment that we use, in some ways to express ourselves
and connect to others. Poetry can also be a way for people to be creative and contribute to
society if they aren t good at painting or acting. Not to say that poetry is for the cast off artists,
instead there is a certain breed of crazy and disturbed you have to be in order to create lasting
poetry. Aristotle states that poetry is not to report what has happened, but what will. Pg. 688. That
is to say that a poet can predict the future and warn people of what could come of their actions,
which is one purpose of poetry. J. M. ARMSTRONG agrees with Aristotle, that a poet shouldn t tell
what happened but what will, The poet, on the other hand, looks for causal relations among
fictional or non fictional events, for he cares whether his composition has a plot with events that
happen because of other events and not merely after them . This is really important in the evidence
that poetry is more than just

Tv Vs Disney
By 1945, WWII had ended and America had entered a post war era. The film industry saw huge
revenue with its wartime themed films in support of America, but television was soon in every
home in across the United States. Americans were tired after a long day at work, and found
comfort in watching TV in their own homes. The development of suburbia drew many people
away from the hustle and bustle of the cities in search of a quieter lifestyle. This move to the
suburbs took the studios audience away and the availability of TV soon began to replace going to
the movies. Coupled with the Paramount Decision of 1948, the studio system was no longer in
effect for the studio executives and they found themselves at a crossroads of needing reinvention...

Drugs and music were outlets that caused major societal changes in personal views. America was
racially integrating and society was moving towards a more racially diverse community. Studios
turned to younger filmmakers to capture the vibe of a changing America. These visionaries made
movies that spoke to the minds of everyday American youth. Pornography also made its way to
the big screen in the wake of the sexual revolution. Deep Throat was released in 1972 and
remained high in the rankings for 48 weeks. Television, the MPAA filmrating system, and the
societal changes in America had a drastic effect on the film industry. Box office sales plummeted
and audiences shied away from the big screen for the comfort of their own homes to watch TV.

The Future Of An Illusion Essay
An Analysis of The Future of an Illusion
In Sigmund Freud s famous philosophical work titled The Future of an Illusion, he uses
psychoanalysis to explain the origins of the concept of God. He presents valid arguments as to
why God is merely a concept created by humans to answer frustrating questions about life in a
satisfying way, and the work seems to be sound in its entirety. However, there is an important
weakness in Freud s reasoning in that if God is meant to create order in the universe, why does the
thought of Him create conflict, fear, and contradiction? Furthermore, though his psychoanalytic
explanation provides fascinating answers to why people believe in God, it cannot demonstrate that
God definitely does not exist.
Famous for his theories of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud asserted that all human behavior could
be boiled down to sexual and aggressive desires. In this particular book, he explains that humans
created civilization to prevent conflict, since there would be chaos if humans were allowed to
express their natural sexual and aggressive tendencies without a higher power telling them that was
wrong. The principal task of civilization... he states, ... is to defend us against nature (Pg. 15).
However, while a civilization governed by human beings may help protect its members from
murder, rape, stealing, cheating, etc., it is not capable of protecting its members from natural
disasters and the reality of death. Moreover, civilization itself causes problems

Adam Miller Campaign Case Study
The Adam Miller Campaign for the 17th Ohio House District was a well organized campaign.
Adam ran his campaign similar to how John Kerry ran his campaigns, and by this, I mean that
Adam more or less ran his own campaign. This does not mean that Adam did not have a team to
help him make decisions. Adam s team was modeled after the military model of functional units,
which he had broken down into four different units. The first was logistics and supply, this unit was
made up of union leaders and Katherine as a consultant. The next unit was intel, which was made
up of democrats in the statehouse and the OhioDemocratic Party. The third unit was operations,
which was headed by Barbara Herman who was the Campaign Manager and the student volunteers.

Show the community that we are involved in it in a very meaningful way. This was the strategy
that Adam chose because it shows that he truly cares about the community and not just doing these
nice activities to appear appealing to the community. The important thing about this is that it
obviously needs to have a positive outcome. The first thing that we desired this approach to do was
to gain the support of the community leaders. These community leaders include natural leaders
within the community, Union Leaders, and politically active citizens. One example of these
community leaders was Lisa Boggs. She is a Civic Association Leader and is on the Ward
Committee. This was important because it helped us gain the support of republicans who have not
voted democrat in a very long time. While being meaningfully involved in the community and
gaining the trust of the community leaders Adam did not ask for an endorsement until the very
end. He did this on purpose because he believed that you have to show you are willing to help them
before they will be ready to help you. In addition to showing his meaningful involvement in the
community when we went canvassing Adam insisted that we leave a personal note on the literature
that we left to show that we truly cared about talking with them. In addition to showing how much
we truly cared about the community and gaining the trust of the community leaders, we also relied
on Mike Stinziano and Dan Stewart to help gain the trust of the voters in our district. Democrats in
the district know both of these men and trust them both. They helped our campaign immensely and
this is obvious through Dan Stewart helped Adam get the support of the Somalian Voters. We won
ninety percent of the Somalian vote. When it came time to start canvassing Adam decided he
wanted us to start in The Westgate Neighborhood, specifically Ward 32 and work our way

from day one. One of my favorite parts of the class is how everyone has something very unique
about them that shows up in their art. It is interesting to really see firsthand and experience the
SOE Disposition 6 in real life. Although we focused on different information the second and third
classes were pretty similar in feeling and reflection to me. My schedule was starting to feel
normal and I was starting to deeper understand the art vocabulary. Reading the packets handed out
in class and the assigned reading really helped develop a sense of understanding into the
importance and meaning of art s integration. What struck me the most interesting was the way in
which art s integration really influences the child. Not only is it implementing fun, art, and the
creative process, but it really strengthens a child s confidence and acceptance. Even myself in the
class am starting to feel more comfortable talking in front of people, and now I know why. Art is
letting students use the full extent of the creative process. They don t have to be afraid of being

Essay on In-just by e. e. cummings
Upon looking at e. e. cummings s poem, in Just ,perhaps, two features immediately become
apparent: the use of white space between some words and lines, and the multiple use of a single
word supporting an entire line. To a lesser degree, the poem s visual also features the boys and girls
names joined together as though they were each one, and the capitalization of the m in balloonMan
towards the poem s end. All these features contribute to how the poem will be read, and when the

Whereas, white space separates every word of the repeated refrain in line thirteen, which does
not lend an aural push to bettyandisbel come dancing (14) like it did for the similar line six, and
the conflicting tempo effectively increases the tension felt for the queer / old balloonman (11

viewed approvingly. The refrain at this point in the poem begins to slow tempo considerably
since white space and its required pause separate and and wee (13). The refrain s final repeat has
each word occupying a separate line and ends the poem. Because of the contributing white space,
the gradual decrease in tempo has the aural effect, perhaps, of the speaker lulling himself to sleep.
Soundly reducing the poem s pace to a crawl, cummings has many readers whispering the final
word wee (24).
The pauses afforded by white space not only affect the poem s tempo but also contribute emphases.

The Legend Of Dante s Aeneid
According to the legend, Rome was founded by two brothers, and also known as demi gods,
Romulus and Remus. The legend claims that, they had a disagreement over who would rule the
city and where the city would be located. Romulus killed Remus and named the city after
himself. This story of the founding of Rome is the most known but it is not the only one. Other
legends claimed that the city was named after a woman, Roma, who traveled with Aeneas and
the other fighters from Troy after that city had fallen. Upon arrival on the banks of the Tiber
River, Roma and the other women opposed when the men wanted to move on. She ended up
leading the women in the burning of the Trojan ships and so efficiently deserted the Trojan
survivors at the site that would eventually become Rome. Aeneas of Troy is featured in this legend

Impacts of Climate Change on Australia Alps’ Ski Industry
The changing nature of snow cover as a result of alpine climate change is a modern phenomenon
that climate scientists are beginning to understand. Declining snow depth and duration have serious
implications for Australia s ski industry, in particular the longevity of the industry. This essay
discusses the impacts of alpine climate change on snowcover, adaption strategies to sustain the
industry s economy as well as the unsustainable nature of snowmaking as a long term solution.
Limitations on water and energy resource make snowmaking problematic as a substitute for natural
snow. The essay highlights the unsustainability of snowmaking as a short term solution, and raises
concerns of the longevity of the ski industry.
Currently, the Australian ski industry comprises of ten operational ski resorts (Figure 1) with
0.15% of the continent (Green and Pickering 2009, p. 271) regularly receiving snow due to the low
attitude of mountains. Consequently, decline in snow cover on top of limited snow availability

so many past court cases where professional athletes have had to pay for their actions against

Attitudes Towards Same Sex Couples
Introduction
The article I chose to write my assignment on is Attitudes to Practice: Adoption Obstacles. It was
written by Claire Kimberly and Alexa Moore and published in the Journal of Gay Lesbian Social
Services on November 16, 2015. The authors investigated how attitudes towards same sex couples
could influence their adoption process and how it is handled by adoption professionals and
surrounding policies/practices. They used data gathered by other research to help construct their
research method.
Literature Review The authors of the article used information from several other articles that
contained studies done that analyzed the procedures of adoption agencies working with same sex
couples. There are around 2 million potential parents in the gay and lesbian community that are
faced with obstacles during the adoption process because of their sexual orientation while the
government is passing legislative acts and allocating millions of dollars in the hope of finding
families that are interested in adopting and that qualify. Brooks and Goldberg conducted a study to
that further analyzed whether or not lesbians and gays are faced with hindrances that heterosexual
couples do not face during the adoption process. This study discovered that there are three factors
that make the process more difficult for same sex couples: myths about the parenting abilities of
gays and lesbians, general agency attitudes and informal practices that discourage gays and lesbians

They found out that female and male leaders have equal concern for the task. However, women
manifest more concern for an interpersonal relationship than men (Eagly and

show a more democratic (or participative) style, which facilitates collaboration, and less autocratic

Furthermore, Eagly and Carli (2003) also conclude that female leader were more transformational

Conversely, male leaders were more likely to involve two other aspects of transactional

her to watch. Their marriage was short lived and the two separated. Under his mother s
recommendation, Richard became a live in babysitter for a 29 year old woman, who was a
bartender at his favorite local bar, Ginny s. One month later, his wife filed for divorce. In
January of 1966, the same month of the divorce, Richard stabbed another man at Ginny s. The

Phase One Exam. In Modern Day, Work Is Becoming Increasingly
Phase One Exam In modern day, work is becoming increasingly more complicated, as well as
difficult to manage. For example, on a construction site, a client is requesting a surreal project than
what a common worker is not used to, and has to find a way to satisfy the demand before the
determined deadline. In this case a project manager has to deal with prioritizing predecessor task
and successor task starting with a development plan that will lead to various other tasks along the
way until the project is completed. A project manager normally uses one of three different system
development methods which are structured analysis, object oriented analysis, and agile methods.
Also with those development methods project managers must perform an... Show more content on

(Systems analysis and design, tenth edition. Page 91 92.). After determining the necessary tasks a
project manager will use project scheduling to put the tasks in order to create a timetable to follow
by, which are usually charts showing the task, what it needs, and critical tasks that can t be avoided.
(Systems analysis and design, tenth edition. Page 91 92.). Once the work has begun the next step
is project monitoring which includes supervising, guiding, and to not push too much work onto the
project team. (Systems analysis and design, tenth edition. Page 91 92.). Then the final step in the
process is project reporting. (Systems analysis and design, tenth edition. Page 91 92.). The project
manager creates reports on the progress made and sends it to the users, management, and the project
team. (Systems analysis and design, tenth edition. Page 91 92.). System development methods are
intended for developing and advancing information systems and projects in that field. (Systems
analysis and design, tenth edition. Page 21.). These three are similar to each other, but each has
specific ways of going about each method. (Systems analysis and design, tenth edition. Page 21.).
Structured analysis is the traditional method where the planning, tasks, and whatever necessities are
heavily documented. However the only problem with this method is if any changes need to be
made will create an increase in

Analysis Of Anthem By Ayn Rand
The book Anthem by Ayn Rand takes place in a dystopian society, quite different from the world
we know it today. Equality 7 2521, the main character, lives in a civilization where There are no
men but only the great WE. One, indivisible and forever. (Rand, Ayn) For the majority of the
book, the pronoun we would be used. All idea of ego is forbidden, and is punishable by death.
Acts such as being smarter, or even in Equality 7 2521 s instance, also being taller, is frowned
upon. Going by these standards, the view of moralityis different for this dystopian society. At the
end of the book, Equality 7 2521 re evaluates what morality is according to him. In the beginning
of the book, Equality 7 2521 states that he knows he s doing... Show more content on

He mentions how The word We ...is the word by which the depraved steal the virtue of the good,
by which the weak steal the might of the strong, by which the fools steak the wisdom of the
sages. (Rand, Ayn) Equality 7 2521 views independence as right , and the ideas of his previous
society to be wrong .
In The Virtue of Selfishness, Ayn Randstates that ...human good does not require human
sacrifices and cannot be achieved by the sacrifice of anyone to anyone. (Rand, Ayn) And that In
popular usage, the word selfishness is a synonym of evil...Yet the exact meaning and dictionary
definition of the word selfishness is: concern with one s own interests. (Rand, Ayn) In Ayn Rand
s excerpts, she discussed the idea of being selfish and of self interest. She mentioned how Men
have been taught that the ego is the synonym of evil, and selflessness the ideal of virtue. But the
creator is the egoist in the absolute sense, and the selfless man is the one who does not think,
feel, judge or act. These are functions of the self. (Rand, Ayn) These excerpts show how Ayn
Rand feels about the ideas of selfish and of self interest. Rand expressed in her work that self
interest isn t as bad as society today makes it seem. She says that The first right on earth is the
right of the ego. Man s first duty is to himself. His moral law is never to place his prime goal
within the persons of others. Ayn Rand s Book, Anthem, has an interesting storyline that gives

  • 2. George Gascoigne In 1573, George Gascoigne published For That He Looked Not upon Her, a poem in which his careful and methodical approach to the sonnet form is evident. Two years later, he published Certayne Notes of Instruction on Making of Verse, which only further served to cement his reputation as meticulous and deliberate with his choice of language and form every choice Gascoigne makes is made with a purpose in mind. This is especially evident in For That He Looked Not upon Her, wherein Gascoigne utilizes both the intentionally chosen sonnet form and vivid imagery to develop his criticism of the classic sonnet in which the beloved s refusal of the author only serves to make him more determined to pursue her. The sonnet form is typically one chosen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Gascoigne s metaphor, a mouse that had escaped a trap is unlikely to return, even if given motivation to return to the trap and try for the food again (5 8). The idea of an tiny, innocent animal representative of sonneteers caught in a trap which represents their beloved s chronic rejection, is designed to engender feelings of sadness and pity in readers. Likewise, in Gascoigne s second metaphor, it is improbable that a fly that has been burned by a flame would approach any flame thereafter (9 12), once again inspiring compassion in the reader for the sonneteers emotional pain. In more modern times, flies are seen as less unclean and disgusting creatures than they were in the past, but in Gascoigne s day, that would not have been the case. The same holds true for mice in Gascoigne s day, mice were seen as pests to be rid of at all costs. No one would have sympathized with a mouse. So Gascoigne s argument changes contextually; instead of creatures to be sympathized with, the mouse and fly and by extension the sonneteers are simply nuisances to be rid ... • 4. The American Revolution And The Indian War The American Revolution took place in 1754 1781. The revolution was marked by the beginning of the French and the Indian war. This war primarily took place in America. The war involved France and Britain. They were fighting for colonial supremacy in the American North. The colonizers that were mostly the British officials who sought the opinions of the general public. This was led to the war in 1754 at the Albany Congress. The American s fought together with the British while the French joined forces with the different Native tribe. This revolution is referred to as the French and Indian War. The British ended the French Indian War that lasted for seven years (1754 1763) by capturing Canadian key forts and France key cities in Ohio Valley. During the Pontiac s Uprising, Pontiac was the chief of Ottawa. Pontiac led native tribes to join together and raided American settlements and British forts in Ohio Valley. These raids were signs of the tribes rebelling against foreigners, who were stealing tribal lands. The British forces were powerful, and the Pontiac s rallies were subdued. George Grenville s solution was a proclamation, issued in 1763, temporarily banning all colonial settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains (Berkin 2014). The Proclamation Line of 1763 was the boundary that Britain established in the Appalachian Mountains, west of which white settlement was banned; it was intended to reduce conflict between Indians and colonists (Belkin 2014). ... • 5. The Importance Of Pressure On High School Sports Pressure and High School Sports seem to go hand in hand these days. Whether we like pressure or not, it is difficult to avoid. We experience pressure because of standards that others expect us to accomplish. While some people may do well under pressure, many of us do bad under pressure. The Kimberly Girls Volleyballteam will experience a lot of pressure as they head into the State tournament this weekend. Expectations are very high for them because they have had a lot of success so far this season. I talked to a girl who is currently on the varsity volleyball team that is going to state. Payton is not a starter and doesn t get to see the court often but she is just as important as anyone else on the team. She discussed with me some of the expectations that coaches and fans have for them. Every game our coach always tells us not to be satisfied, and that s kinda our team moto. I definitely think that s the expectation from our coaches is to not be satisfied with a win or how we played just to always make it better. I believe the expectation from the fans is just to stay positive and work as hard as we can. With expectations high from the coaches and fans, this can add a lot of pressure and stress onto the girls. As Payton said, I definitely think that s the expectation from our coaches it to not be satisfied with a win or how we played just to always make it better, we can see how they are pressured to win again because they can t be satisfied with winning one game. They have expectations to make it far in their season because they are not satisfied after one game, they want to win more and be number one. I also talked to a fan, Quinn Johnson, and asked what he thought the pressures were on the girls this year. He replied with: I think this season the pressures are there own standards. Last years team was not as good so other teams and fans did not expect so much out of them. But after we won the FVA this year and got the #1 seed for the playoffs more pressure was added to the team coming into playoffs. This helps to see from a fan perspective what they believe the pressures are and what they expect the girls to accomplish this season. As you can probably see, with the girls success this year they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is generally conceded that his many fresh and fragrant mistresses were purely imaginary, but understanding how he constructs gender is vital in developing an accurate view of his poetic art. Modern criticism often depicts Herrick as a propagandist for the received standards of his day, yet close examination of his texts reveals that he recognized the ambiguities of genderand the inconsistencies of his era s beliefs pertaining to women, disrupted and interrogated them, and often engaged in outright parodic critique of accepted seventeenth century gender mores. Definitions of Intellectual Property Definitions Intellectual Property Name Institutional Affiliation Date: Definitions Intellectual Property Definitions of intellectual property, its legal protections, and the impact of the moral justifications that exist in cyberspace Intellectual property defines a wide range of the property created by investors, artistes, authors, and musicians. The law governing intellectual property naturally includes the copyrights, trademarks, and patents law. Its main intention is to motivate the development of art, sciences, and information giving defined rights of property to all the artistes, who include inventors of science and art. These rights assist artists to safeguard themselves from violation, unauthorized misuse, and use of their creations. Service marks and trademarks safeguard distinguishing characteristics (such as a package and name design) that are linked with certain products and services that display commercial source (Blakley, Johanna 2010). Laws safeguarding copyrights have strong links with the England law of the eighteenth century. Complete patent laws may be tracked from the seventeenth century in England, but they have always been part of the law of United States from the colonial period (Spinello, 2004). The concepts of patent and copyright were all included in the constitution of the United States. The congress has the power to encourage the development of useful art and science. I attended with three of my friends Ashley, Cassandra, and Jennifer. My friends came along in order to gain the experience from the church with me. We all had different experiences, but we all felt glad that we went together and to the church. When planning to go to the church, I read some articles on the proper etiquette of the church, and how to act in an Orthodox church. The rules included sitting up straight or standing for the whole service as they do in other parts of the world, and how to venerate an icon. I was nervous to do all these steps, because I did not want to mess up or offend anybody. However, I practiced and tried to be prepared. Also, picking an outfit was a struggle because I wanted to be very respectful to the culture. The church that I attend when I am at home is very relaxed, and do not care if a person wears jeans to the service. They still want the people in attendance to be respectful and modest, but besides that, people can wear whatever the feel comfortable in. When preparing to attend this church however, I picked my outfit carefully and hoped that I would be dressed up enough. When I arrived, I saw that I was and felt more relaxed. Scientists learned long ago that the earth s climate has powerfully shaped the history of humanity. However, it is only in the past few decades that research has revealed that humans have a significant influence on the climate as well. A growing body of scientific evidence indicates that since 1950, the world s climate has been warming, primarily as a result of emissions from the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of tropical forests. More importantly, an article titled Global Warmingpublished in the New York Times shows that methane, a gas that is emitted from landfills, livestock and oil gas facilities,... Scientists who believe in global warming say that global warming is the result of carbon dioxide and other air pollutants collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sun s heat which causes the earth to heat up. In fact, according to Amber Jenkins, site editor for Global Warming: Vital Signs of the Planet, meteorologists at NASA (National Aeronautics Space Administration) have reported that Earth is the hottest it has been in at least 400 years, and possibly even the last 2,000 years. Studies indicate that the average global temperature has increased by approximately 0.5 1.0В°F (0.3 0.6В°C) over the last century (Jenkins). However, CEI scientists have reported that there is no proof that rising temperatures are linked to global warming. The Earth has gone through various periods of cooling and warming throughout its history. The rising temperatures are simply the Earth warming itself up from the previous ice age (Competitive Enterprise Institute). • 18. Sequencing Deficits Are Not Discriminatory Of Any Age Sequencing refers to the ability to carry out an activity in a logical, timely, and orderly manner (Early, 2006). Sequencing deficits are not discriminatory of any age and are commonly found in individuals with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, cognitive perceptual disorders, and mental health disorders. Some diagnoses that are tied to sequencing deficits are CVA, TBI, Autism, ADHD, and dementia, to name a few (Occupational Therapys Role in Cognitive Disorders, 2011). Sequencing deficits may range from minor to severe and require occupational therapy to increase successful completion of everyday activities by providing techniques that improve task sequencing. Sequencing comes as automatic thought for most individuals when performing a simple task, such as making a bed or brushing teeth. For instance, individuals whose sequencing abilities are intact will know that a fitted sheet must be placed onto a bed before a comforter, but for some with cognitive deficits or learning disabilities, this task may be confusing and difficult to remember. Due to cognitive decline, individuals that once had the ability to perform tasks in correct sequences may now have difficulty doing so. These difficulties are common in patients with dementia as memory declines (Clark et al., 2012). Individuals with sequencing deficits require some form of visual aid or verbal cueing to complete a task correctly. If an individual who has difficulty sequencing activities ... Managing modifications in a business can be difficult and countless people within an organization can be resistant for various reasons. Participation is considered an effective technique for reducing resistance to change, other techniques includes education and communication, facilitation and support, and negotiation. Change in a business can be uncomfortable since it requires surrendering a certain way of thinking and performing processes and implementing a novel way to accomplish a business goal. Encouraging employees to participate in the alteration can be one of the utmost ways to reduce the resistance to change. An employee who participates in the process of the conversion is further likely to embrace the change. Therefore, one way is to encompass groups that will be affected by innovative procedures in the development of fresh ideas. In other words, ask workers for their opinions and suggestions and integrate their solutions. If people are given the opportunity to seize responsibility for specific parts of a program their sense of ownership will craft stronger advocates. Furthermore, I will describe and assert the shift within families command structures, based on changes in America s economic, which presented women with new liabilities and increased influences. Those changes enabled women with the opportunities to challenge their submissive role within their homes and families, but also the clerical hierarchy. Benefiting from revivals and the benevolence activism a negotiation on the role of women began, which climaxed in protests, where I use the Woman s Crusade of 1873 to 1874, in order to exemplify the discrepancy women were caught in. Therefore, I will amplify the problematics, women were facing due to misuse of distilled liquor, which were rooted in the woman s personal reasons, but also the incongruity with their religious believes. Further, I will try to explain the success of the woman s crusade, which is partially rooted in a abandoning of female gender roles. The challenging of the male monopoly led to a redistribution of power among the sexes and a dichotomy regarding the role of women. This oppugnancy is based on the negotiations of women s rights within society and church versus traditional evangelical values. Therefore I will claim that the evangelical women s endeavors regarding female independency is rooted within benevolence activism, such as the woman s crusade, which challenged the traditional evangelical perception of a woman, and scrutinized the male monopoly, resulting within a dichotomy of womanhood between the role of a traditional female role and the first attempts on ... With the gradual development of the EEC, more and more areas of public policy were transferred from national governments to the community with the result that the overall powers of the executives within member countries of the EU have increased while parliamentary powers have decreased. The main argument is that the parliament is too weak, while the council is too powerful. The executive branches, the Council and the Commission, are not drawn from Parliament and are thus not accountable to it in the way it would be, for example, in the UK through a vote of no confidence. The two branches are completely separate, which can mean that there is not an effective check as there was meant to be. The Future Of An Illusion Essay An Analysis of The Future of an Illusion In Sigmund Freud s famous philosophical work titled The Future of an Illusion, he uses psychoanalysis to explain the origins of the concept of God. He presents valid arguments as to why God is merely a concept created by humans to answer frustrating questions about life in a satisfying way, and the work seems to be sound in its entirety. However, there is an important weakness in Freud s reasoning in that if God is meant to create order in the universe, why does the thought of Him create conflict, fear, and contradiction? Furthermore, though his psychoanalytic explanation provides fascinating answers to why people believe in God, it cannot demonstrate that God definitely does not exist. Famous for his theories of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud asserted that all human behavior could be boiled down to sexual and aggressive desires. In this particular book, he explains that humans created civilization to prevent conflict, since there would be chaos if humans were allowed to express their natural sexual and aggressive tendencies without a higher power telling them that was wrong. The principal task of civilization... he states, ... is to defend us against nature (Pg. 15). Essay on In-just by e. e. cummings Upon looking at e. e. cummings s poem, in Just ,perhaps, two features immediately become apparent: the use of white space between some words and lines, and the multiple use of a single word supporting an entire line. To a lesser degree, the poem s visual also features the boys and girls names joined together as though they were each one, and the capitalization of the m in balloonMan towards the poem s end. All these features contribute to how the poem will be read, and when the poem is read, the sound, furthered by alliteration, assumes an alternating rhythmof excitementand measured awareness. (4) Whereas, white space separates every word of the repeated refrain in line thirteen, which does not lend an aural push to bettyandisbel come dancing (14) like it did for the similar line six, and the conflicting tempo effectively increases the tension felt for the queer / old balloonman (11 12) who seems to interrupt the speaker s pleasant memories every time the springtime world is viewed approvingly. The refrain at this point in the poem begins to slow tempo considerably since white space and its required pause separate and and wee (13). The refrain s final repeat has each word occupying a separate line and ends the poem. Because of the contributing white space, the gradual decrease in tempo has the aural effect, perhaps, of the speaker lulling himself to sleep. Soundly reducing the poem s pace to a crawl, cummings has many readers whispering the final word wee (24). The pauses afforded by white space not only affect the poem s tempo but also contribute emphases. Save for line twenty one, which holds two words, the last nine lines of in Just are supported by a single word. Although all nine lines create an emphasis alone, two of those nine lines probably command greater significance. The double spaced indentation of the in line nineteen holds much ...
