This document provides instructions for setting up accounts and using the social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. It outlines the basic sign-up and account creation steps for each site, which involve filling out a registration form, confirming an email address, and choosing profile images. The document then gives brief overviews of common activities on each platform like posting statuses, following others, and creating pins. 2. How To Set Up A Facebook Account
1. Go to Facebook homepage at www.facebook.com
2. Fill out all the information in the sign up form.
3. Create your own secure password.
4. Click on Sign up For Facebook. Image provided by Google Images.
5. Confirm your page: Facebook will send you a confirmation e-mail to the address you provided.
Open the e-mail, and click on the confirmation link. This will complete the sign-up process.

3. How To Use Facebook
1. Choose your cover and profile picture by going to update status and clicking on Add

2. Click on Browse
3. Choose two of your favorite but appropriate selfies, group pictures, pictures of pets, or any
other picture you may prefer.
4. Select Upload.
5. When both pictures have been uploaded, set one as your cover picture, and the other as
your profile picture. Provided are steps to make this easier.
6. Once this has been set up, create you first ever status!! Click on status, type in something
funny or exciting, click on update status, and let the world know!

4. Facebook in the Classroom
1. Blogging: Using Facebook as a class-site to allow students to
create and share information, ideas, concepts, etc.
2. Study groups: Students that don’t have access to classmates
outside of school walls, can form study groups in an easier more
convenient fashion.

5. Twitter: Setting Up An Account
1. Go to sign-up page at https://twitter.com/signup
2. Fill out all the information in the sign up box.
3. Click on Create my account. (Yellow Box)
4. Just like Facebook, Twitter will send an email to
to the address you provided. Open the e-mail,
click on the confirmation link and your account
is ready to go!

7. Twitter in the Classroom
1. Creating a Character: Essentially a “fake” account; however, students can utilize and
pretend to be a historic author, political figure, or character in a story. By using Twitter, they can
compose tweets that will reflect their character’s personality, background, and anything else

2. More effective communication with students and parents: This
allows teachers to communicate with parents and their students
more quickly and efficiently. It seems that more individuals
social media pages such as Twitter and are constantly on them,
increasing the likelihood of a quicker response.

2. Can sign up with Facebook account or by using an e-mail address.

10. 1. Lesson Planning: Pins make lesson planning easier by allowing teachers to place them on a
board with one particular, central theme.
