INTRODUCTION
• An antenna is an electrical device
which converts electric currents
into radio waves, and vice versa. It
is usually used with a radio
transmitter or radio receiver.
• In transmission, a radio transmitter
applies an oscillating radio
frequency electric current to the
antennas terminals, and the
antenna radiates the energy from
the current as electromagnetic
waves (radio waves).

Structure and construction
4 wires are connected in rhombic shape and
terminated by a resistor.
Mounted horizontally and placed > ^/2 from
ground.
Highest development of long wire antenna is
rhombic antenna.

Editor's Notes

  • #5 Helical antennas are used because they are circularly polarized. This means that they radiate in both the vertical and horizontal directions, unlike the dipole which only radiates normal to its axis. Horn antennas are obviously very directional. The shape of the horn determines if the electric or magnetic fields are maximized. The gain is very high in the direction of the horn’s axis.
  • #6 We will talk about kind of the antenna which is RHOMBIC ANTENNA
