This document summarizes a meta-analytic review of research on the antecedents and consequences of employee adjustment to overseas assignments. The review examined predictors of three types of adjustment (general, interactional, and work adjustment) as well as outcomes related to job strain, satisfaction, commitment, performance, and turnover intentions. Key findings included self-efficacy, interaction with locals, family support consistently predicting all three types of adjustment. A structural model was developed showing how adjustment impacts other outcomes and fits the data well.
Work-Family Factors and its Relationships Between Dispositional, Occupational...Waqas Tariq
This study was conducted to test the mediating effects of work-family factors on the relationships between dispositional and occupational characteristics as the independent variables and intention to stay as the dependent variable. By using self-administered research questionnaire, data was collected from 240 middle age single mother employees in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Samples were determined through simple random sampling method whereby six out of 24 single mother associations were selected to obtain research samples. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted to describe the respondents. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to determine the relationships among variables and Structural Equation Modeling using AMOS version 16.0 was utilized for model testing and to verify the presence of mediation effects. Further, the Soble’s z-test was used to test whether the mediators carry the effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The findings indicated that there were positive relationships among variables. The results also established the presence of mediation effects between the independent and dependent variables. Organizations may utilize work-family factors as mechanism to promote longer retention among employees. Keywords: Intention to stay, work-family facilitation, family satisfaction, dispositional characteristics, occupational characteristics.
This document summarizes a study that examined the effects of stress on the work attitudes of staff at the College of Distance Education in Ghana. The study found that workload pressures, unpleasant work environments, and a lack of work-life balance caused stress for staff. This stress manifested in staff delegating tasks, arriving late to work, making mistakes, disliking work, feeling nervous and irritated, and leaving early. The study recommends that the college implement health screening programs, stress management seminars, recreational activities for staff, and improve work scheduling and office environments to help manage stress.
There has been lot of debate on the reasons of stress experienced in organizations; consequently it has been realized that stress at workplace brings damages in terms of health of employees, work accidents, poor productivity and staff turnover. Now a days workrelated stress is an area of major concern and research in the behavioral sciences. Work- relates can be linked to physical and psychological health problems among people. The present study is an attempt to find out the difference in work-stressors among the workforces of BPO sector and Educational Institutes. The data was gathered from Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad. A sample of 400 respondents was considered for study. Only 375 respondents returned the filled form. Random convenient sampling technique was used to collect the data. Work-stressors scale identified by Cooper (1986) was used to measure work-related stressors and the results revealed that there is no significant difference among the workforces of both sector on the basis of work related stressors.
A Model Of Expatriate On-The-Job Adaptation To Overseas Assignments A Commun...Valerie Felton
The document presents a model of how successful expatriates adapt to overseas assignments over three stages of on-the-job adaptation. It describes internally focused activities like implementing management systems and maintaining headquarters relationships, and externally focused activities like developing information sources and reacting to opportunities and threats. The model was developed from interviews with expatriates and local staff in Taiwan-based multinational companies. It shows adaptation as a process involving mutual influence between expatriates, local staff, and headquarters as expatriates' roles and relationships progressed from outsider to insider over time.

Depression and Retirement in Late
Middle-Aged U.S. Workers
Jalpa A. Doshi, Liyi Cen, and Daniel Polsky
Objective. To determine whether late middle-aged U.S. workers with depression are
at an increased risk for retirement.
Data Source. Six biennial waves (1992–2002) of the Health and Retirement Study, a
nationally representative panel survey of noninstitutionalized 51–61-year-olds and their
spouses started in 1992.
Study Design. Workers aged 53–58 years in 1994 were followed every 2 years there-
after, through 2002. Depression was coded as lagged time-dependent variables mea-
suring active depression and severity of depression. The main outcome variable was a
transition to retirement which was measured using two distinct definitions to capture
different stages in the retirement process: (1) Retirement was defined as a transition out
of the labor force in the sample of all labor force participants (N 5 2,853); (2) In addition
a transition out of full time work was used as the retirement definition in the subset of
labor force participants who were full time workers (N 5 2,288).

This document summarizes a study that examined emotional labor in university lecturers. The study found that university lecturers reported significantly higher levels of emotional labor than norms from other occupations. Age and length of service were also found to be significant factors. Qualitative findings identified increased workloads, eroding autonomy, uncertainty about the future, and decreased job satisfaction as main themes. The study proposed a conceptual model called the Higher Education Emotional Labor Model to describe emotional labor in higher education. It concluded that university management should recognize high emotional labor levels in lecturers.
Given the complexity and challenging nature of environments in which peacebuilding practitioners
operate, their Cross-Cultural Competences (CCCs) are very crucial for them to effectively adapt and function in
foreign countries. The ability to effectively maintain positive interactions with local people is so vital that the
overall success of a peacebuilding mission is every so often considerably affected by it. Therefore, in order to
gain an understanding on how peacebuilding practitioners successfully navigate in local culture and achieve
successful performance in competitive environments, adaptability is an essential measure of their performance to
be analyzed. Despite heightened interest by both scholars and practitioners in studying and better understanding
the importance of expatriate adjustment, limited research has so far been conducted on adaptive performance in
United Nations peacebuilding context. A review of the literature in this regard revealed a research gap that
culminated in the following research question: What is the influence of Cross-Cultural Competence (CCC) on
Adaptive Performance (AP) in United Nations missions? Hence, an empirical study of 100 staff members of the
Integrated Peacebuilding Mission in Guinea-Bissau was designed to answer this research question.

A Study Of Organizational Role Stress Among Teachers A Critical Literature R...Jim Jimenez
This document summarizes a study on the impact of organizational role stress on university teachers in Haryana, India. It reviews literature on role stress both internationally and within India. The literature shows that role stress negatively impacts job satisfaction, productivity, and health. Studies find higher stress levels among healthcare and female professionals. Comparisons between public and private sector employees show inconsistent differences in stress levels. The review establishes role ambiguity, overload, and lack of resources as key stressors for teachers and other professionals.
1) The document discusses how university students today spend a significant amount of time (approximately 15 hours per week) working paid jobs while also attending school.
2) It reviews literature showing how one's experiences at work can influence or "spill over" into other life domains. Specifically, more positive work experiences are linked to better adjustment in personal life, while negative experiences may lead to increased stress.
3) The study presented aimed to examine if students' work experiences (positive or negative) were related to their adjustment to university life. It was hypothesized that more positive work experiences would correlate with better adjustment to university.
The Effects of Organizational Changes Towards Students' EmotionNada Rahmah Majied
This paper have been presented at 5th Global Conference Business and Social Science (GCBSS) organized by Global Academy of Training and Research (GATR) at Bangsar South-Kuala Lumpur- Malaysia, 4-5 May, 2017.
Abstract:
Organizational change can produce a number of positive and negative emotional responses. This study uses the Theory of Emotional Contagion (Hatfield, Cacioppo & Rapson, 1993) where negative as well as positive feelings can be transferred to others. The aims of the study are to examine the effects of perception on technological change, leadership change and structural change towards students’ emotions; and to analyze the mediating effect of experience on perception and emotion resulting from organizational changes. The study employs the quantitative research design using the survey method with the self-administered questionnaire. A total of 223 respondents was collected from among the undergraduate students at a faculty in a public university who have faced organizational changes (technological, leadership and structural). Results reveal that perceptions of technology, leadership and structural changes are found to have moderate effects on students’ emotions. However, experiences of change partially mediate students’ emotion and perception of technological, leadership and structural changes. Experience with organizational changes affects students’ emotions badly. This implies that the Emotional Contagion Theory holds true for organizational changes as the hypotheses are supported.

Threats to Internal Validity
Threats to Internal Validity
(Shadish, Cook & Campbell, 2002)
1. Ambiguous temporal precedence. Based on the design, unable to determine with certainty which variable occurred first or which variable caused the other. Thus, unable to conclude with certainty cause-effect relationship. Correlation of two variables does not prove causation.
2. Selection. The procedures for selecting participants (e.g., self-selection or researcher sampling and assignment procedures) result in systematic differences across conditions (e.g., experimental-control). Thus, unable to conclude with certainty that the “intervention” caused the effect; could be due to way in which participants are selected.
3. History. Other events occur during the course of treatment that can interfere with treatment effects, and could account for outcomes. Thus, unable to conclude with certainty that the “intervention” caused the effect; could be due to some other event to which the participants were exposed.
4. Maturation. Natural changes that participants experience (e.g., grow older, get tired) during the course of the intervention could account for the outcomes. Thus, unable to conclude with certainty that the “intervention” caused the effect; could be due to the natural change/maturation of the participants.
5. Regressionartifacts. Participants who are at extreme ends of the measure (score higher or lower than average) are likely to “regress” toward the mean (scores get lower or higher, respectively) on other measures or retest on same measure. Thus, regression can be confused with treatment effect.
6. Attrition (mortality). Refers to drop out or failure to complete the treatment/study activities. If differential drop out across groups (e.g., experimental-control) occurs, could confound the results. Thus, effects may be due to drop out rather than treatment.
7. Testing. Experience with test/measure influences scores on retest. For example, familiarity with testing procedures, practice effects, or reactivity can influence subsequent performance on the same test.
8. Instrumentation. The measure changes over time (e.g., from pretest to posttest) thus making it difficult to determine if effects or outcomes are due to instrument vs. treatment. For example, observers change definitions of behaviors they are tracking, or the researcher alters administration of test items from pretest to posttest.
9. Additive and interactive effects of threats to validity. Single threats interact, such that the occurrence of multiple threats has an additive effect. For example, selection can interact with history, maturation, or instrumentation.

A STUDY OF JOB SATISFACTION AMONG NON PHD FACULTY IN UNIVERSITIESKarla Adamson
This document summarizes a study on job satisfaction among non-PhD faculty members in universities in Sindh, Pakistan. It utilized Herzberg's two-factor theory of job satisfaction. 125 non-PhD faculty members participated in a survey with an 83% response rate. The results showed that most respondents were male, below 30 years old, married, and had over 5 years of experience. Correlation analysis found that motivator factors like promotion, advancement, and development were significantly related to job satisfaction. Hygiene factors like relationships, policies, and compensation also impacted satisfaction. Overall, the study found job satisfaction among non-PhD faculty to be very low, and recommended universities focus on motivators and hygiene factors
Comparative Study of the Quality of Life, Quality of Work Life and Organisati...inventy
People’s lives are increasingly centred on work; they spend at least one-third of their time within the organisations that employ them. Investigating the factors that interfere with employees’ well-being and the organisational environment is becoming an increasing concern in organisations. This article identifies the criteria of the quality of life (QoL), quality of working life (QWL) and organisational climate instruments to point out their similarities. For bibliographic construction and data research, articles were sought in national and international journals, books and dissertations/articles in SciELO, Science Direct, Medline and Pub Med databases. The results show direct relationships amongst QoL, QWL and organisational climate instruments. The relationship between QoL and QWL instruments is based on fair compensation, social interaction, organisational communication, working conditions and functional capacity. QWL and organisational climate instruments are related through social interaction and interfaces. QoL and organisational climate instruments are related based on social interaction, organisational communication, and work conditions.
This document summarizes a research paper that explores the link between organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior among expatriates in Taiwan. THE IMPACT OF RELIGIOUS IDENTITY ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORKPLACE STRESS...Mohd Abbas Abdul Razak
As the nature of today organizational work setting is becoming more challenging, it could easily be said that stress is commonly experienced among staffs due to high demand of service quality in higher citadel of learning. Coupled with serious concerns as to how it affects psychological well-being, this study examines the impact of religious identity on the relationship between workplace stress and inner meaning fulfillment among non-academic staff in a public university in Malaysia. 148 participants were selected and data were collected and analyzed through quantitative and correlational methods respectively. Results revealed as hypothesized as it was found that workers with high inner meaning fulfillment do experience lower level of workplace stress. Also, results revealed that there is significant positive relationship between religious identity and inner meaning fulfillment. These results confirmed the link between religiosity and mental health among Muslim participants as it has been reported among their counterparts in previous studies.
Keywords: Inner Meaning Fulfillment, stress, workplace, psychological well-being.

The document presents three studies that examine affective commitment to different targets in the workplace: the organization, supervisor, and work group. Study 1 develops measures of commitment to these targets and finds they are distinct factors that relate differentially to hypothesized antecedents like perceived organizational support and leader-member exchange quality. Study 2 finds organizational commitment indirectly influences turnover intentions and mediates the effects of other commitments. Study 3 finds commitment to the supervisor directly impacts job performance, and organizational commitment has an indirect effect through supervisor commitment, while work group commitment does not affect performance. The studies provide validity for measures of multiple commitments and clarify their differential roles in outcomes.
This document discusses factors that influence employee job satisfaction and attachment. It outlines several models of job satisfaction, including the Job Characteristics Model which identifies skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy, and feedback as key factors. Negative job satisfaction can lead to stress disorders and impact employee performance through increased absenteeism and costs. Reducing work stress requires addressing its root causes such as lack of trust between employees and management.
Narrations of Work-Life Balance among Academic Staff in an Open Distance Lear...QUESTJOURNAL
ABSTRACT: This study explores Work-Life-Balance among academic staff in an Open Distance Learning institution. A qualitative case study is used. Data for the research was collected from 16 academic staff using purposeful sampling. Academics describe the work-life experiences in the context of five overarching themes: (a) time demands, (b) ideal academic (c) career advancement (d) technology, and (e) work environment. This analysis revealed that academics’ work-life experiences are driven by a dearth of time and an excess of roles. Their involvement in multiple, interdependent roles although enriching through career advancement, presents ongoing time-based conflicts due to intense pressures of work. The tension associated with juggling roles significantly impacts their personal well-being and career satisfaction. Recommendations for this study are twofold; those that aid the university management towards more poignant work-life balance policies in the university and the need to conduct more research in Work-Life-Balance in Open Distance Learning institutions.

This study is a survey to find out the influential determinants of capacity building to cope with stress
among university students. Descriptive survey research design was employed for the study while self-structured
modified questionnaire was used to elicit information from the respondents. A total of nine hundred and five
(905) respondents participated in the study forming the sample size for the study. The statistical tools used for
the study includes; percentage counts, frequency, mean, regression analysis, spearman rank andMann-Whitney
U test. The statistical results of the multiple regression analysis showed that the predictors (age, sex, religion,
college, family financial status and academic performance) had 92% (adjR
2=.092, F(7,896)=14.02, P=.000,
P<0.05) joint contribution in the dependent variable (perceived ability to cope with stress). The linear
regression analysis showed that only age (β=-.112, p=.001), sex (β=.124, p=.000), religion (β=.084, p=.009),
college (β=-.088, p=.007) and academic performance (β=.249, p=.000) had significant relative contribution to
the dependent variable. The Mann-Whitney U results showed that there is significant difference in the perceived
ability to cope with stress between both male and female (H=84552, Z=-3.78, p=.000). The result of the
findings revealed that age, sex, religion, college of study, academic performance could significantly predict
perceived ability to cope with stress. And also showed that the way male and female perceived their abilities to
cope with stress differ
The three facets of the adaptation of expatriates to Morocco under the effect...IJAEMSJORNAL
The geographical position, political stability and market opportunities offered by Morocco have attracted the interest of several multinational companies either through acquiring local companies or setting up new subsidiaries. As a way of securing adequate competencies in new markets, these companies resort to the expatriation of their executives. However, this strategy does not come without direct consequences or hidden costs. In this context, researchers and managers are urged to explore the reasons for the expatriation of executives. Hence, the aim of this research is to test the model of Roger and Mérignac (2005), while focusing on the family profile and the impact of the family on the adaptation of the expatriate in Morocco. Within this research, a number of hypotheses were formulated and to verify them we will adopt a quantitative approach. The results revealed a slight difference in the adaptation according to the family profile. The most suitable expatriates are those who are accompanied by their families. Nevertheless, these results confirm the general tendency of the researchers on this problematic. A study with a larger sample would show better results.

The document discusses the differences and similarities between mental disorders and physical disorders. While views on mental disorders have improved significantly from past eras, they are still often not treated with the same level of respect as physical disorders. Both mental and physical disorders are medical conditions that cause impairment or pain and alter people's lives. They are both considered illnesses and can be treated with modern medicine, so they should be viewed as equal rather than mental disorders being seen as lesser. More work needs to be done to properly recognize mental disorders and ensure equal treatment and respect for those living with them.

It defines sociological imagination as the ability to connect intimate personal aspects of life to larger historical forces. It discusses how sociological imagination allows one to step outside normal views and evaluate society differently. Key concepts mentioned include symbolic interactionism, norms, socialization, understanding oneself versus society. Sociological imagination provides a deeper understanding than common sense by allowing one to see connections between their individual experiences and broader social changes and forces.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
