Anorexia is an eating disorder characterized by an obsessive desire to lose weight by refusing to eat. There are two main types - binge/purging anorexia where people force vomiting after eating, and restrictive anorexia where people severely limit food intake. Health risks of anorexia include heart failure, low blood pressure, osteoporosis, and death. Up to 24 million people in the US suffer from eating disorders, most between ages 12-25, and 15% die due to suicide or starvation.
