What is video game addiction? 
1. It’s the act of playing video games extremely often to a 
point where it’s unhealthy 
2. It’s most common among 10-18 year olds
Why do people become addicted? 
1. Games are made to addict 
2. They fulfill the psychological needs of humans very 
easily 
3. They provide escapism for any troubled person
What are the consequences? 
1. Chronic back pains 
2. Neglect of family and friends 
3. Migraines 
4. Long term sleeping problems
Some statistics: 
1. The video game industry made 10.3 billion dollars in 
2002 
2. A study conducted in 2009 showed 12% of gamers 
demonstrated addiction
How is this relevant? 
1. We are in the ideal range to be addicted 
2. It can have a very heavy impact on us because were in 
school
How can this be avoided? 
1. Moderate video game play time by scheduling them 
2. Don’t prioritize video games over school or family
