All living things are made of cells, which are the basic unit of life. Plant and animal cells share some similarities but also have differences. Both contain a cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria, a nuclear membrane, and a nucleus. However, plant cells also contain a cell wall and chloroplasts, which allow them to perform photosynthesis to store energy from the sun. Animal cells lack a cell wall and chloroplasts.
