Initially, the target audience for the band's music was males and females aged 16-24. They based this on the genre of their music and bands like Mumford and Sons and The Killers that appealed to similar audiences. They conducted questionnaires and interviews to learn about music preferences within this age range. The questionnaires found that the genre was popular within the target audience. This helped them in planning their video marketing. They also held a focus group to learn what people like about music videos. The focus group provided many new ideas that benefited the video. Audience feedback on their first video was overall positive.
Q4 WEEK 1 JUDGE THE RELEVANCE AND WORTH OF IDEAS.pptx
Andrew evaluation question 3
1.
2. Initially our target audience was both males and females
between the ages of 16 and 24.
We based this decision by looking at the genre of our
music and who we thought it would appeal to most. We
also carried out questionairres and interviews to find out
what other people thought about our choice of target
audience.
we considered real bands such as ‘Mumford and Sons’ and
‘The Killers’ and looked at how they appealed to their
audiences. We looked at how they presented themselves
in music magazines and how they displayed information
such as tour dates.
3. Questions we considered when constructing our
questionairre involved personal questions such as the
person’s age and personal tastes in music. For example,
their favorite genre of music.
The questionairre was created so that we could find out
directly about what types of music people liked within their
age range. Also what they liked to see in music videos and
what they liked about particular conventions within videos.
From our questionaire we found that the genre of music
that we was very popular and well liked within our target
audience.
This effected our planning in a positive way as we now
knew that we were making a video for a large target
audience.
4. To find out more about music videos in general we
arranged a focus group.
We wanted to find out what the group liked about
music videos and what they thought was important to
include. For wxample, we found oiut that they thought
it was important for a music video to have a narrative.
The focus group went very well and we found out lots
of information which benefitted us.
This also had a very positive impact on our music video
as our focus group gave us lots of new and exciting
ideas for our video.
5. The audience feedback from our first video was
reasonably positive. They seemed happy and
impressed with the work we had produced and
showed them.
Although they had a few points for improvement we
believed we met many of their expectations.
For example, they enjoyed the setting we had used
which was central London.
As well as that they enjoyed the variety of shots we
used, especially the group shots.
6. To reach our desired target audience we placed large
emphisis on the marketing of the video.
The marketing included making a digi-pak and an
advertisment poster.
To get ideas on what sort of poster and digi-pak our
audience would like to see, we made rough copies and
interviewed their opinions n the draft copies.
In these interviews they told us what they’d like to see
on the digi-pak and posters and this aided us in creating
successful marketting for our music video.
