2. Todorov.
• Todorov’s theory doesn’t fit very well with our
video. This is because the equilibrium is kept
throughout the video and there is no
instability so nothing creates a disequilibrium.
3. 3 part structure
• Todorovs theory of narrative structure
develops into 3 parts.
• From the 3 part structure we are able to apply
the first part to our video. This is because the
beginning includes the setting, characters and
starting point for narrative to be established.
This can be seen from the characters being
established as well as the setting which is seen
when we walk out of the tube station.
4. • We can’t really apply the middle part to it as
relationships aren’t complicated and there is
no conflict.
• However we can apply an ending as the video
reaches a climax where the end of the day is
met by the showing of walking off into the
sunset. The idea of the video has been
resolved as it’s the end of a nice day.
• This is how we can apply the 3 part structure
to our video.
5. The four part structure
• 1)What problem does the story examine – there
are people out there possibly feeling down and
having a bad day
• 2) solution- Get some close friends and got out
together to cheer yourself up using places such as
London as your playground.
• 3)Background- 3 friends living in London decide
to meet up as there feeling sad and they go out
and ‘Have A Nice Day’.
• 4)How should the solution be evaluated- Using a
feel goof factor as they have discovered.
6. Six part narrative
• Evolved mainly by Labov in order to analyse spoken, face-to-face
communication.
• It consists of 6 terms
• 1) Abstract- applies as its about having a nice day in London and its being
told as they are upset.
• 2) Orientation- It took place in London and it began with 3 friends walking
out of a tube station.
• 3) Complication action- Then we can apply this as we then went round all
of London.
• 4) Evaluation- The impact of these events is that we ended up having a
good day
• 5)Resolution- In the ending we finished of the day by walking off into the
sunset in a park.
• 6)Coda- We can’t really apply this to our video as there wasn’t really a
return to reality.
