2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Egyptian history is usually divided into three main periods: Old Kingdom (2649 - 2150 BC, Middle
Kingdom (2030 -1640 BC), and New Kingdom (1550 -1070 BC). There were several earlier dynasties
between 3050 and 2649 BC. In total, there were 30 dynasties. The gaps are intermediate periods.
From 712 BC to 80 BC , Egypt was ruled by several foreign countries including Persia and
Macedonia.

9. Egyptian Religion
Osiris was the original King of the Gods. He married his sister Isis. His brother Set was jealous of Osiris and killed him several times.
However Isis brought him back to life and they had a son Horus. Horus defeated Set. Nephthys was the wife of Seth and mother of
Anubis, God of mummies. In later centuries, the god Amun became popular as the savior of the country. He merged with Sun God Ra
to become the most powerful God, Amon-Ra. Pharaoh Akhenaten and his wife Nefertiti tried to reduce the influence of the priests by
creating a single God Aten (1350). When he died, the priests restored Amon-Ra and erased Akhenaten and Aten from history. Bastet
was the Goddess of Homes.Thoth was the God of Wisdom. Ptah was the God of Creation. Hathor was the Fertility Goddess.

The ancient Egyptian food of the rich included meat –
(beef, goat, mutton), fish from the Nile (perch, catfish,
mullet) or poultry (goose, pigeon, duck, heron, crane) on
a daily basis. Poor Egyptians only ate meat on special
occasions but ate fish and poultry more often.By precept and example, parents would
instill into them various educational
principles, moral attitudes and views of life.
For girls, this was usually all the schooling
they would get, but for boys it would be
supplemented by proper training in whatever
line they chose, or was chosen for them.
