2. Anasazi Facts
The Anasazi civilization grew in the dry lands of the American
southwest. The Anasazi are called the Ancient People. They lived in
groups of houses that the Spanish later called pueblos. Pueblo is the
Spanish word for “town” or “village.”
The name “Anasazi” comes from the Navajo Indians and translates to
“enemy ancestors.”
The Anasazi owned Turquoise and copper mines that gave them
valuable goods for trade.

The Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling in Mesa Verde with over 200
rooms and over 23 kivas. It housed between 250 and 350 people made of
plastered in fine clay. Lower portion of the walls were painted red and upper
portion were painted white. When the two colors joined, they were painted
with red triangles and dots and believed to represent the mountains.

Anasazi were an ancient Native American with culture that spanned
Southeastern Utah, northeastern Arizona, Northwestern New Mexico and
Southwestern Colorado. This picture reflects their large living structures.
Anasazi had the various types of houses: pit houses, Mesa Verda, cliff
houses and Pueblos that was made of adobe.
5. Living Conditions
Anasazi people lived in groups of houses that resemble “Pueblos”, Spanish
word for town or village. Ancient Anasazi lived in Pueblo known as “Cliff
Palace” and is in Mesa Verde, Colorado. It’s three story high with over 200
rooms where 1,000 people would live. It sat on a stone shelf on the side of a
steep mountain made of thick clay with many kivas.
6. Foods
They learned how to farm on dry lands. They grew corn, squash and
beans. They were always prepared for a drought because the region was
very dry. When planting storing food, they stored enough food to last for
two years in clay jars.
7. Tools
The Anasazi were skillfully people. They shaped stones, bones and wood
into tools for grinding, cutting, chopping, scraping, polishing and
weaving. They used digging stick for farming, the stone axe for clearing
land and arrow for hunting, and sharp-edged stones for cutting.

9. Anasazi Uniqueness
Anasazi are said to have lived thousands of years ago and have been
suspected to have had some connection with aliens or believed to had
seen, abducted or were aliens themselves. Their architecture and art
leaves impression of what the saw or believed.
