  2. 2. Desert Region The desert region is filled with metals, minerals, and materials. That are found from earth’s surface. The most common minerals on earth is Sand, gravel, and stone.
  3. 3. Valley Region <ul><li>The valley region Is a flat area of land that is stretching for miles between the coast region and the Serria Nevada.
  4. 4. Many farms are located in the Valley region the Mojave dessert lies in the middle of the state. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Mountain region <ul><li>Around the industries in the mountain region is centered along forests, and minerals. Timber is a very popular industry. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Coast region <ul><li>The cost is defined where the land meets the sea.
  7. 7. A precise line that can be called a coast line that cannot be determined.
  8. 8. The term coastal zone can be used instead, which is a spatial zone where land meets water. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Missions <ul><li>A Mission is a settlement to teach Native Americans about a Religion.
  10. 10. The Missionaries wanted the California Indians to come to the Missions. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Pueblos <ul><li>A Pueblo is a Spanish word for village .
  12. 12. People living in the Pueblo grew food for people living in the Presidios. </li></ul>
  13. 13. Ranchos <ul><li>Many Settlers built Ranchos.
  14. 14. Ranchos were were often used to raise large numbers of livestock. </li></ul>
  15. 15. John Sutter <ul><li>John Sutter in 1841 had a fort build that became known as Sutter Fort.
  16. 16. Sutter Fort was located where the Sacramento and American Rivers meet.
  17. 17. John Sutter sold supplies to the people passing through the area. </li></ul>

  19. 19. Sir Francis Drake <ul><li>Sir Francis Drake came from England, ordered from Queen Elizabeth, to steal gold from the Spanish because England was getting poorer and the Spanish was very rich at the time. </li></ul>
  20. 20. Juan Cabrillo <ul><li>In 1542 a Spanish Explorer Juan Cabrillo sailed North which now is Mexico to find a rout to Asia.
  21. 21. He explored present day San Diego ,cape san martin ,and san Miguel Island. </li></ul>
  22. 22. Ivan Kuskov <ul><li>In 1812 Ivan Kuskov led a group of Russian and Native Alaskan fur trappers to a place north of San Francisco..
  23. 23. The trappers came to the area to hunt sea otters. </li></ul>
  24. 24. Virtues Berring <ul><li>Vitus Berring traveled to the northeast from Russia across the Pacific Ocean.
  25. 25. In 1728 he found a water rout between Russia and presented day Alaska. </li></ul>

  32. 32. James Beckworth led settlers to west. </li></ul>
  33. 33. Mary Tape <ul><li>Mary Tape was a Chinese immigrant who lived in San Francisco in the late 1800s.
  34. 34. Mary Tape was very upset that her daughters could not go to a school. </li></ul>
  35. 35. Mexican American War! <ul><li>In 1846 a small group of Americans revolt or uprising against Mexico.
