Dementia With Lewy Bodies ( Dlb ) Essay
Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), when cognitive symptoms appear within a year of movement
problems, is a complex and challenging neurodegenerative disorder. (Pervin, Edwards Lippa,
2016). It is complex because the DLB pathology and its impact on certain brain regions are unclear.
The pathology includes Lewy bodies, senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. It is challenging
because its many core features make it difficult for individuals to perform activities of daily living.
The core clinical features comprise of declining and fluctuating cognition, behavioural and
psychotic behaviours and spontaneous signs of parkinsonism.
DLB main neuropathological structures are Lewy bodies, nevertheless it also has the Alzheimer s
disease (AD) pathology of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (Pervin, Edwards Lippa,
2016). Astonishing up to 80 percent of individuals can show AD pathology (Colom Cadena et al.,
2013). Lewy bodies are located in cell cytoplasm, spherical in shape, eosinophilic, neuronal
attachments, with a compressed hyaline centre and clear halo. They are made of unusual shortened
and phosphorylated proteins and alpha synuclein is the main component (Hancock, 2011). The
alpha synuclein accumulations, termed Lewy bodies (LB) and Lewy neuritis (LN), disturb brain
chemicals resulting in complications with movement, thinking, mood and behaviour. In a fit brain,
alpha synuclein is essential in brain neurons, especially at presynaptic part, where cell

elements of the policies followed over the past two decades and revisits the weaknesses, limitations
and lapses in past policies in order to ensure equitable development in the country.

It is a major challenge in several provinces where the incidence of poverty is much larger in

The sectoral composition of the economy has changed from that of an agriculture based economy to
one dominated by the services sector. The services sector has been the highest contributor to GDP, at
56 per cent, followed by the industrial sector at 26 per cent and the agricultural sector at 18 per
cent in
2004. Liberalization, private sector participation and increased competition have contributed to the
expansion of the services sector, with buoyant performance in transportation, communications,
financial services, trade and tourism. The performance in the agricultural sector is an important
determinant of
GDP, as this sector directly accounts for around one fifth of national output and employs over one
third of the workforce. Its importance is larger than these figures indicate because of links between
agriculture, manufacturing and services.
The manufacturing base is dominated by the apparel industry, although the production of food and
beverages, as well as chemical and rubber based goods, is also important. Industrial exports are

Employee Empowerment Contributes to an Organizations Success
Introduction
Empowerment is a powerful tool that companies give to allow each employee to become a decision
maker. When empowered employees truly understand their potential, there is almost an immediate
positive reaction in the both the company and the individual. For a company to realize success,
employees must be trusted and empowered to make business decisions that are in line with the
company s governing policies.
The objective of this paper is to provide a better understanding of why and how employee
empowerment is critical to run a successful operation. Employees and employers both gain positive
results when the empowerment process has been successfully implemented in an organization. To

You enable your employees to succeed by providing them with the means, opportunity and capacity
they need to excel. Lawson (2006)
For empowerment to come to fruition, it can take years before all the pieces are correctly
administered and functioning on their own. Patients and understanding must be displayed as new
employees are brought on board and setbacks happen. The worst actions an organization can take
are to stop embracing the free thinking of their employees and to discontinue training. Organization
must keep their workforce engaged. As Gilbert Jamison (n.d.) wrote Bottom line, creating and
sustaining a culture of excellence cannot be achieved without fully engaged employees who feel a
part of the organization, and that they are truly valued contributors to the success of the
organization. Organizations must support their teams consistently, provide ample training to new
employees, and follow up with continuous training to keep the employee engaged. Support from all
areas and a collaborative environment must be established to embrace creative thinking. With
patients and time, the organization will become self managed through employee empowerment.

rush of sad emptiness quickly turned to a fog of loneliness as Sam lifted Lip?s ethereal body onto

1989 Tiananmen Massacre Essay
On April 17th, 1989, university students gathered in Tiananmen Square, the national landmark
which has held important national and international events throughout history. The death of
Yaobang Hu, a resigned Chinese Communist Party (CCP) general secretary, resulted in massive
mourning by students. Over time, the mourning turned into a demonstration: university students in
China protested, viewing the CCP as a corrupt government. The demonstration grew due to the
belief that democratic ideals would repeal the corruption that was emerging. However, the
movement itself was seen as a rebellion against the CCP. After two months of protesting, the
government decided to impose martial law upon Beijing to take back the square from the protesters.

Parody In Ann Radcliffe s Northanger Abbey
In Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen s witty parody of Ann Radcliffe s gothic classic The Mysteries
of Udolpho, offers a euphemism of Gothic romances. A comic study of the ironic discrepancies
between the ordinary world in which Catherine Morland lives in and the fantasy that shapes her
imagination, fed by gothic novels, gives to that world. Austen shows the differences between the
heroine s real situation and the gothic world she fantasizes. Northanger Abbeyis an ironic and
realistic counterstory instead of the usual mysterious and dark gothic fiction. In Northanger Abbey,
Austen uses parody for comic effect. She references elements from Gothic romances, but rather than
using elements to advance the plot in her story, she makes fun of them often... Show more content

Austen uses Catherine s ordinariness as a way to celebrate implicitly the ordinary heroism of all
women. Austen uses a distinct type of irony in her creation of Northanger Abbey s heroine.
Catherine is someone who rejects the constricting standards of previous depictions of female
heroism and instead embraces a tomboyish persona, allowing her to challenge the gendered
standards of heroism as they were portrayed within literature (Niebuhr 150). She understands that
people can be both good and bad because real life is never as black and white as it is in the novels
she reads. In her mind, she is a Gothic heroine or at least, she is in training to become one. In the
novel, Austen wrote, from fifteen to seventeen she was training for a heroine, she read all such
works as heroines must read to supply their memories with those quotations which are so
serviceable and so soothing in the vicissitudes of their eventful lives (Austen 20). Catherine
pictured herself in a Gothic novel, believing she is going to become a hero and help solve
everyone s problems. She sees things that aren t there. She over analyzes a situation because she
wants the mystery, the rush and the adrenaline it gave her believing that the abbey was

Baptism In The Godfather
Using only the Wedding scene and the Baptism scene which both serves to tie the films ends up
you can infer a great deal on the basic themes of The Godfather. Francis Ford Coppola has said that
the film was a metaphor for business in America, and certainly, the word was used consistently
throughout the entirety of the film, generally by the Corleone family, they were doing business.
Each of the capping scenes had broader metaphors for the movie, but instilled and enforced
transitions of power. The Wedding was a stunning event: lots of panning and broad shots, with
occasional cutting to show either the GodfatherVito Corleone(portrayed by Marlon Brando) either

The film overall got business done, without complete collapse because its transitions were
handled, somewhat ruthlessly, but befitting for the nature of their business. The ways in which
scenes were shot were dramatically lit, bright and summery in the beginning, while somber and
very gaunt (in a way) towards the end. Along with the score, which swelled at times, then was
delicate and trying, setting a tone and pace for most of the film, while crescendoing in the very
beginning and the end of the film, was the transitions of power were complete/reinforced/and
cemented. The film can also be seen as a character study for not only the evolution of business in
America, greed, and the various natures that all takes. But a character study for the evolution of
Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), whom in the beginning is young, handsome, kind natured and
relatively open emotionally, contrasting toward the end where his hair is slicked back, he is

Case 6.4 Drug Dilemmas Essay
Case 6.4: Drug Dilemmas The cost of new medical drugs seems to be accepted by many people
who use them. These pharmaceutical companies increase their profits more and more each year
because many people assume that it does cost a lot of money for research and development.
Where in reality, they are only spending about 15% of their profit margins on research and
development alone. A huge percentage of these drugs are actually tested in other countries where
people are more willing to do trials with these drugs because they cannot afford them. Not only are
there more people who are more willing to try them, but also there is less regulation and oversight
when it comes to testing. Conducting these clinical trials overseas not only saves... Show more

According to the first CI, it is morally wrong to sell these medical drugs at such a high cost,
especially when it does not cost relatively as much to create the drug. Looking at the act
universally, we can determine that if everyone had a product that they placed on the market and
charged a tremendously greater amount than the cost to produce the product/service, then our
economy would most likely collapse. There is no real necessary need to make such a huge profit
margin. Also, considering Kant s belief that every change has a reason and we may understand
there is no reason for these companies to charge such a high price. Especially because most of
today s society falls under the middle to lower class and only a small group of wealthy
individuals will be likely to survive. Therefore, the maxim cannot be willed as universally
acceptable and will be considered as an immoral act. Another question we come across in this
case is Should these pharmaceutical companies have a moral obligation to make the drugs
available to the people who they performed clinical trials on? . Again we clearly should see that
the pharmaceutical companies should allow the access of these drugs to the people that are being
used to test their products. There is a huge risk for these people who are taking a new drug, not
knowing exactly what the outcome can be and are merely treated as guinea pigs for the

Elton John s Song Ticking
Ticking is one of Elton John s most powerful and under rated songs. Bernie Taupin, Elton s song
writer, wrote the words why Elton wrote the music, and together they created a song that presents
a strong statement. It is a story about a fictional young man who is seemingly normal, but in the
end, he snaps and unleashes his carnage. For a song released in 1974, years before mass
shootings like Columbine, Aroura, and Orlando, it is eerie that it can relate to so many mass
shooting that have happened in the past few years. Elton and Bernie are giving a warning in this
song that, as a society, we should focus on trying to reduce gunviolence and focus more on mental
health.
Looking at the title, Ticking may not immediately mean anything, but once you dig into the lyrics
of the song it becomes clear. It refers to a young man who is seemingly normal and very quiet,
however in the end he snaps. Ticking is being used as a metaphor to represent the young man who
appears normal but is slowly getting closer to the breaking point.
The first stanza begins in a calm tone like the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

shows that his mother s comments are driving him closer to the breaking point (Lines 9 11). His
mother s voice in his head then says, Grow up straight and true blue/run along to bed, this
introduces the possibility that the young man may be homosexual and that his mother, and
possibly his father, showed her disapproval (12 13). The idiom true blue means to be loyal to
someone s ideas or cause which could reference to religious ideology (Lines 12 13). Perhaps this is

The adaptive immune response is antigen specific and requires the recognition of specific non
self antigens during a process called antigen presentation. Antigen specificity allows for the
generation of responses that are tailored to specific pathogens or pathogen infected cells. The
ability to mount these tailored responses is maintained in the body by memory cells . Should a
pathogen infect the body more than once, these specific memory cells are used to quickly
eliminate it. so basically killer T cells will identify antigens present on foreign cells. These
antigens are not found in any of the cells inside our body. So T cells will identify them and kill
them. C. What are lymphocytes and where are they produced? Lymphocytes are a type of white

against infection because they can distinguish the body s own cells from foreign ones. Once they
recognize foreign material in the body, they produce chemicals to destroy that material. Two types

The Importance of a Single Authorship of Isaiah
INTRODUCTION
The Importance of a Single Authorship of Isaiah
When a critic attacks the authorship of Isaiah, it is like the devil putting his foot in the door.
Modern criticism has cast doubt on the Bible. The written Word of God is a battlefield and many a
skeptic has tried to dethrone the Bible claiming it is just another book.
Denying a single authorship of Isaiah:
1. Casts doubt on the written Word of God
2. Makes Jesus appear ignorant when He said Isaiah wrote the scroll of Isaiah
3. Promotes skepticism about the authorship of other books
4. Makes Paul appear ignorant in quoting from Isaiah
5. Makes New Testament writers appear ignorant quoting from Isaiah
A Brief Overview of the Book of Isaiah
As a whole, Isaiah can be divided into three main parts:
Isaiah 1 35 describes Messiah as a mighty Ruler and King
Isaiah 36 39 relates to the times of Hezekiah
Isaiah 40 66 describes the Messiah as the meek and lowly Servant of the LORD
Some scholars feel that Isaiah 1 35 and Isaiah 40 66 must be works of different authors. The first
part of Isaiah reveals a Messiah who is a mighty Ruler and King. The last part of Isaiah reveals a
meek and lowly Messiah who is a suffering victim. This shift from a mighty ruler to a suffering
victim, make some critics feel there are at least two authors to Isaiah. Other critics claim that
certain portions of Isaiah 13:24 27 and certain verses in Isaiah 14 and 21 were also written by
someone other than Isaiah. Therefore, according to

Character Analysis Of Nora Helmer In A Doll s House
Character Analysis of Nora Helmer in A Doll s House Imagine a world where Susan B. Anthony
did not right for a woman s right to vote or Katharine Hepburn did not defy Hollywood s ideal
view of the traditional female movie star. Women have not always been given such a voice or
granted such a place in marriage and society as they have today. In large part, the level of equality
men and women share in the present timeis due to the bold and brave feminist literature writers of
the nineteenth century. One such writer being Henrik Isben who, in 1879, wrote his play A Doll s
House. A Doll s House centers around the character of Nora Helmer, wife to a wealthy, domineering
husband, Torvald. As a nineteenth century wife, Nora was conflicted throughout the play with the
male chauvinistic view of a womans role in marriage and society and her own aspirations of self
identity. In Act I of A Doll s House, Isben introduced Nora to the audience through the viewpoint
of how society thought of women during that time childlike, uneducated, dependent, and
submissive. The first act of the play starts off when Nora had returned home from Christmas
shopping, and Torvald was in the study. Singing and giddy, Nora was excited for the Christmas
festivities ahead for her husband and children. She snuck macaroons from her pocket and ate them
quickly and secretively, like a child sneaking a cookie before dinner. Nora asked Torvald to come
out of the study to see what she had bought. Several times

Hayne et al. (2003)
Introduction
The impact of television exposure is relatively unknown in the recent decades. Therefore, large
number of studies has been considered in order to find out the impact of television exposure on the
behaviour of infants or children. According to the classic studies conducted by Bandura et. al
(1963), the 3 to 5 years children continuously observe the aggressive behaviour of adult. Then they
carry out the same aggressive behaviour in front of children, doll or other toys.
Consequently, children imitate the aggressive behaviour of the actor, and mimic it in the presence
of other children. Comparatively, Hayne et. al (2003) states that 4 to15 month old imitate limited
actions demonstrated by videotaped models. Hence, the focus of this task is on the difference and
similarities between the studies of Bandura et al. (1963) Hayne et al. (2003).
Discussion
Bandura et. al (1963) Hayne et. al (2003)
The article Imitation of film mediated aggressive model is written by Albert Bandura, Dorothea
Ross, and Sheila A. Ross in 1963. On the basis of the article carried out by Bandura et. al (1963,
p. 4), it is examine that 3 to 5 years old children continuously observe the aggressive behaviour of
adult. Then they conduct the same aggressive behaviour in front of doll or other toys. This shows
that aggressive behaviour of parents put adverse and negative impact

The Finches From The Galapagos Island
Change is the key factor in a species survival, whether that change, is being minimal or
extremely dramatic, and without change a species have condemned itself to extinction. Animals
have learned to adapt to their surroundings in order to survive, and with these adaptation people
can witness new breeds added to the spectrum and see them flourish. Breeds can be defined as a
stock of animals or plants within a species having a distinctive appearance and typically having
been developed by deliberate selection. For example the finches from the Galapagos Island s they
are all finches, but they all differed in their appearance, some had smaller others had larger beaks.
Charles Darwinstudied these Finches and came to discover that the Finches differed in appearance
because they had adapted to their environment. The GalГЎpagos finches provide an excellent
example of this process. Among the birds that ended up in arid environments, the ones with beaks
better suited for eating cactus obtained supplementary food. As a result, they were in healthier
condition to mate. Similarly, those with beak shapes that were well suited in getting nectar from
flowers or eating thicker shielded seeds in other environments were at an advantage there. In a very
real sense, nature selected the best adapted varieties to survive and to reproduce. With his findings
throughout the years Darwin formulated his theory of evolutionby natural selection, and published
his first book entitled, On the Origin

Analysis Of The Interlopers And The Machine That Won The War
What do you prefer to read about? Maybe you like reading fiction or nonfiction, about heroes and
villains, in past or future. Whatever your preferences, when most people read a book, they typically
want to read about something relatable. People want to read about people that are like them. The
Interlopers and The Machine That Won the War
are both short stories full of interesting plot points
that keep the readers hooked right until the last word. The Interlopers is about two men hunting
each other in the night, until a twist happens. The Machine That Won the War
is about three men
revealing secrets about how the war was truly won. However, The Interlopers offers a more realistic
plot and relatable characters than The Machine that Won the War. In The Interlopers, the short story
starts out by taking us to a forest of mixed growth somewhere on the eastern spurs of the
Carpathians (Saki, The Interlopers). The winter night is cold and stormy, with the wind blowing
wildly and the animals uneasy, there was movement and unrest among the creatures that were wont
to sleep through the dark hours (Saki, The Interlopers). The forests are very steep, and the game it
kept for hunting was not that great, however the two characters and their family have quarreled
over it for years. The narrow strip of precipitous woodland that lay on its outskirt was not
remarkable for the game it harbored or the shooting it afforded. (Saki, The Interlopers). Hunting in
these woods is the character

Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Theory
The motivation of a human being is an interesting subject. There many reasons for a person to do
the same action. There are also many theories of the motivation of a human being. For this paper,
the authors will look at the motivation of Theodore Roosevelt to fulfill Maslow s Hierarchy of
Needs. We will look how President Roosevelt was motivated to act throughout his life through each
stage of the Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs.
Maslow s Theory
The Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs theory is a theory that attempts to summarize motivation.
Maslow s theory is a biopsychosocial theory of motivation. A biopsychosocial theory means that it
accounts for the biological needs and the psychosocial needs of a person. (Carpenter Huffman,
2013) Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory was first developed by Abraham Maslow in a 1943
paper. (Maslow, 1943)
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory works simply. It says that a person will meet baser or more
primitive needs first before fulfilling more advanced or sophisticated needs. To the lay person,
thus seems to be true. The hierarchy of needs are in the following order from simple to
complicated: Physiological Needs Hunger, thirst, and maintenance of internal state of the body;
Safety Needs to feel secure and safe, to seek pleasure and avoid pain; Belonging and Love Needs
to affiliate with others, be accepted, and give and receive affection; Esteem Needs to achieve, be
competent, gain approval, and excel; and Self Actualization Needs

Methods
Measurements have been carried out in both phantom and a specifically designed phantom which
simulated human lung volume. Samples were taken from the Lung Planning CT images for 15
patients using the Oncentra Masterplan OMP Treatment Planning System. The X axis was,
following convention, taken to be horizontal, and the Y axis to be vertical; accordingly, abscissa
and ordinate distances to the skin, heart and the lungs were measured (see figure 8). Figures 4

Essay on The Impact of Michael Jordan
December 21, 1891 The birth of basketball. It has been changed from simply shooting a soccer
ball into a peach basket to dunking a seven pound, leather ball into an iron rim. In the early years
of the game, basketball was not as popular as other sports. In the 1985 NBA draft all this would
change with the emergence of a 6 6 basketball phenomenon from Wilmington, North Carolina.
Although going third in the draft, he recreated the game and is known as the best player to ever

mainly come down to diet, fitness and hygiene. Eat healthily, and avoid foods high in arginine,
such as chocolate and nuts. Avoid fatty foods and food high in sugar. A regular lysine supplement

many people who have genital herpes find regular exercise can reduce the frequency of outbreaks.
It also boosts the immune system and lowers stress, which is another big trigger for outbreaks.

School Start Times And High Quality Sleep
The American education system is diverse and unique, and one aspect that varies wildly across
the country is school start times. Deciding the start times for schools is dependent on many
factors including bus schedules (Edwards, 2012), biological development (Borlase, Gander,
Gibson, 2013; Perkinson Gloor, Lemola, Grob, 2013), and parental preference (Edwards, 2012;
Perkinson Gloor et al., 2013). School start times are considered one aspect that can affect sleep
duration, since they affect wake time. Adequate, high quality sleep is extremely important for
adolescents and inadequate sleep can lead to a number of negative outcomes including poorer
physical and mental health, as well as poorer academic performance (Borlase et al., 2013;
Edwards, 2012; Keller, Smith, Gilbert, Bi, Haak, Buckhalt, 2015; Paksarian, Rudolph, Jian Ping,
Merikangas, 2015; Perkinson Gloor, et al., 2013). Therefore, school start times are important to the
field of education, because start times affect sleep and sleep, or lack thereof, can affect cognitive
ability and performance. We are always looking to improve our schools and better educate our
children, and the adjustment of the start time is a small change that may have a big impact.
Overall, the results of these studies suggest that early school start times are detrimental to all
students, as elementary, middle, and high school students were examined in at least one of the five
studies. Students at schools with early school start times

Causes Of Power Corrupts
The Power Magnet
Award winning author David Brin once stated, It is said that power corrupts, but actually it s more
true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power.
In a perfect world there would be no corruption or lust for power; however, humans are not perfect,
therefore, mistakes are made and many crave money, pleasures, and power causing them to lose
sight of what truly matter. Throughout the history of our existence, there have been instances of
corruption for various reasons. Some cases include the terror of Maximilien Robespierre amid
revolutionary France, the recent American Olympic scandal at the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics,
and the ascension of the narcissistic rapper Kanye West.
While corruption isn t always the reason for gaining power, it can become the reason why certain
actions are taken to maintain that new power. Initially, Maximilien Robespierre was a French
revolutionary who supported the people despite being a bourgeoisie, commonly seen as an enemy
of the oppressed. Once the revolution gained control of the French monarchy, Robespierre let his
greed and ambition take hold of him. He devised the plan to behead former King Louis XVI in
order to assure the success of the revolution. Robespierre let this new power overcome him resulting
in the shelving of the Constitution so he could pursue the elimination of all suspects against the
Republic, allowing him to legally capture and kill almost anyone.

American Sports Values
Sports have played an indispensable role in American society. As Americans, we place significant
social, political, and economic importance on the values, benefits, and entertainment we derive
from sports. Throughout our history, we have seen examples of how sports have played an
important role in shaping our values and attitudes. In 1936 at the Berlin Olympics, Jesse Owens
achieved what was thought of at that time and still to this day one of the greatest athletic
achievements in history when he won the 100 meters, 200 meter, the long jump, and anchored the
U.S. men s 4 X 100 team to victory. The wins were significant to the American people who saw it
not only as a conquest over Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germany, but a repudiation of his theory of Aryan
racial superiority. Jesse Owen was instrumental in tearing down racial barriers that denied black
athletes before them opportunities to compete at the highest levels in sports and sporting events.
We have become so aligned with our athletes and the values and principles they project, that
anything that threatens that connection is met with ridicule and angry criticism. Nothing has
threatened this connection more than the use of performance enhancing which is why we have no

People mainly are selfish dreamers who dream only about themselves but there are some who

dreamers are Mama from the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry and Martin Luther
King Jr. s speech I Have a Dream . In Dr. King s speech he brings up that his dream is not only for

These two people can be related in a way because they both dream of others living amongst whites
and to live in a place where the living conditions are better, where a plant can survive. There are
other similarities between Mama and Martin Luther King Jr., for example another similarity would
be sacrifice. Martin Luther King Jr. technically did sacrifice his life. To talk about freedom of
blacks in a time where blacks are highly hated is something risky and may take their life. He
sacrificed his life because he has four kids that he wants to grow up in an equal society. He
stated, I have a dream that my four little children will one day live a nation where they will not

and all blacks out there who wouldn t speak up. Martin Luther King Junior is easily related to
Mama because she also is sacrificing for the benefit of family. Mama sacrifices the money that
she received from the death of her husband for the life of her loved ones. Mama sacrifices the
money for Beneatha s college fund for her to pursue her career of being a doctor. She also

The Physics Of A Wind Tunnel
A wind tunnel is a key instrument used by Aerospace engineers to accurately measure the
aerodynamic forces and moment on an aircraft model. The aerodynamic forces and moments that
the model experience then can be compared to the real life conditions that an aircraft experiences in
real time. An important in tool that allows us to find these different forceis the L.A. Comp wind
tunnel s pyramidal balance. This kind of balance allows aerospace engineers to measure all the
force: lift, drag, and side force; as well as all the moments: pitching, yawing, and rolling [1]. Figure
1, you are able to see where each of these forces are action and along which axis.
Figure 1: Forces and Moments on an Aircraft
It is important to understand where all these forces and moments are acting on an aircraft to
understand how each one affects and aircraft. A crucial step before actually gathering these force
and moments is to calibrate our balance.
The objective of this experiment was to calibrate the L.A. Comp wind tunnel and to develop
calibration plots that will later be used in future experiments.
The L. A. Comp wind tunnel is a closed circuit wind tunnel that has been at the University of
Oklahoma. It is a subsonic wind tunnel powered by a 400hp electric motor that spins three seven
foot propeller at a constant speed. The speed of the air in this wind tunnel is adjusted by the pitch
of the propellers adjusted by a hydraulics. The L.A. Comp wind tunnels usually operates at 150mph.

before maturity, by investors looking for income. This market can be a physical trading area (banks,
public sector, etc.), but more often the bonds are traded electronically by investors using computers
and telephone communications www.state.il.us/treas/Education/Glossary.htm. In general, in the

Deregulation In Iceland
The Movie Inside Job happens in Fall 2008 amid a worldwide retreat bringing on a whole country
of individuals to misfortune their reserve funds, homes, and occupations. The storyteller, Matt
Damon paints a reasonable delineation of the occasions, for example, deregulation, theft and IRS
evasion in which hinted at the economy ruin.

corps, particularly Alcoa, assembled aluminum refining plants and adventure Iceland s
characteristic geothermal and hydroelectric vitality sources. Iceland privatized three of its banks
and obtained $120 billion dollars, which is ten times more than Iceland s economy, bringing about

The Dressing Of A Medical Assistant
It is very important that when a patient needs a dressing changed that it is performed correctly
and sterile. The first and foremost important step in any procedure is to perform proper hand
hygiene. Next, obtain all necessary items on a Mayo stand. Most items involved in dressings are
within a dressing packet that is enclosed until it needs to be used. The patient should be in a
comfortable position while the procedure is being done with the area with the dressing on a
supported area. The next most important step in any procedure for the medical assistant is to apply
gloves. When removing a dressing, loosen the tape and pull from both sides toward the wound.

The Opening Night In The Theater Play Analysis
As the lights dim in the theatre, I know that my husband is in for an interesting experience, as he
has no background knowledge (other than the quick Cole s notes version I gave in the car ride to
Grand Bend) about the iconic Broadway sensation Chicago.
Boy, was I right.
The opening night of Drayton Entertainment s Chicago at the Huron Country Playhouse had the
audience captured from the start. Lots of long legs, toned abs and barely there costumes along with
amazing musically talented ensemble definitely grab the attention of all in the theatre. This is not a
show for young children!
The darker, sultry side of life in the 1920s Chicago comes alive through edgy dancing, strong
musical numbers and humour as the cast razzle dazzles its way through the story of the two divas,
Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, who vie for the spotlight in Cook County Jail after doing away with
their cheating lovers. Both Jodi McFadden (Velma)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His rendition of Mr. Cellophane captures the sympathy of the audience, as Amos is just pathetic.
Dean Hollin portrayed the sly lawyer Billy Flynn and made me hate how slimy and sleazy his
character was but done in such a smooth way. Valerie Boyle gets the audience going as Mama
Morton after her opening song When You re Good to Mama that had us cheering for her and her
powerful vocals.
My husband and I enjoyed some salted caramel ice cream bars during the intermission under the
new, large gazebo that has been recently built on the front lawn. It was great to overhear
conversations from other viewers about what they thought so far. Many talked about the athletic
ability of the ensemble and the vocal talents of the whole cast. Others discussed the costumes
(mostly the men) who seemed to be pleased that their wives and significant others brought them to

Back Brace Essay
31 million Americans experience low back pain at any given time. It is the number one cause of
disability worldwide. Also, low back pain is one of the most common reasons for someone to
miss work and the second most common reason for someone to go to the doctors. Really? That
many people have back pain? It is that common for them to go to their primary care doctor for it?
Why are they not coming to physical therapy first? That s a topic for another day, but seriously low
back painis a huge issue that a lot of us deal with on a daily basis. I see it first hand every day as I
treat patients frequently with this problem. Some are strains, disc herniations, fusions, fractures
and just general arthritis symptoms. It s inevitable that I will get the question: Do you think a
back brace will help me? My friend s brother has worn a brace for years and says he thinks I need
one. So I decided to share my opinions and some general facts about back braces to hopefully help
you make that decision.
What is the back brace being used for? This should be the first question anyone should ask. The
type of injury or problem that you are having will be a key factor whether you will benefit from
a brace or not. When do you plan on wearing it? Is this something that you are planning on
wearing all day? Do you want to use it while you are doing house work or working out at the
gym? Are you planning on wearing it while you sit? These are some key questions that you need to
focus on in order to

Stereotypes In Dracula
Why is society obsessed with teaching women what and whatnot to do? It could be the way that
society teaches women, telling them they are not valued as much as men. Men view women across
the nations as property . They claim that women are weak and stupid; therefore, men treat women
as if they are higher than women. Bram Stoker s Draculaconveys the reality of Victorian, and today
s society s prejudice toward the values of women by acknowledging only a woman s wrongs, and
how New Women overcomes it. For example, in Dracula, Bram Stoker is aware of the stereotypes
in the Victorian era; he decides to make two different aspirations and social life of the Victorian era.
Stereotypes are ideas created by society that oversimplifies an image/ idea... Show more content on

In this time period, men believed they were superior to women because women did not have
jobs. For example, in Dracula, when Jonathan Harker sleeps in a room that Dracula did not
assign him, he is trapped with three women in the parlor, and he believes he is going to die. At
least God s mercy is better than that of these monsters.... At its foot a man may sleep as a man
(Stoker 57). Perhaps, Jonathan believes that if the three women victimize him, it would make
him less of a man that he is. Another example is the mention of the New Women when Lucy and
Mina were going a walk: I believe we should have shocked the New Woman with our appetites
(96). Without worrying bout being prim and proper, they were hungry enough, they did not care
about the rules in the Victorian times. This started the rebellion of the New Woman . Stoker was
familiar with feminist movement, growing up around strong women. Though Stoker was hostile
towards women and the idea of the New Women , people confused him to be feminist because of
the two contrasting women in the story: the Victorian example [Mina], and the angel that turned
into a vampire. In the end, the women mentioned in the novel were either vampires, turned into a
vampire, or end up dead. Even if he did not like women in general, he creates a New Woman , Mina
Harker. In Carol A Senf s essay, Dracula: Stoker s response to the

Comparing The Impact Of Religion And Philosophy In India...
When comparing the impact of religion and philosophy in India with the impact of religion and
philosophy on these classical civilization s governments between 600 BCE and 600 CE, they
were similar in that they used religion and philosophy to support social and caste divisions, they
stressed the importance of following and obeying rules and the men who followed the teachings of
the religion or philosophy were on the top of the social hierarchy. This was because both Chinaand
India religion and philosophy used religion to justify the social divisions like the caste system in
India by talking about reincarnation or the Confucian stress on the importance of obeying authority.
Both India and China also had a religion or philosophy that encouraged... Show more content on

One social difference was that in India, religion didn t help the government unify their empire.
Hinduism was so diverse and had so many offshoots and sects like the Shaivites and the
Vaishnavites that it wasn t uniform enough to be shared across India and bring together the Indian
subcontinent and empire. This was distinct from China where Confucianism was fairly consistent in
its teachings and values. Because of this, all across China the idea of Confucianism linked various
provinces and areas like the vastly different North and South China together. A follower of
Confucius from a remote southern province would probably follow the same ideals that another
follower of Confucius from the North. This let the government unify the Chinese empire and
bring together otherwise very different people under one government. This difference was
probably due to the fact that Hinduism had no one founder to dispense core values and it was a
polytheistic religion so there were many different gods to follow while Confucianism was based
on the teachings of one man, Confucius and followed his individual teachings and the
interpretations of them. Of the two, China was much more unified while India remained
incredibly diverse. However, both these governments and empires were more united than the
Classical Greek civilization which was composed of fiercely independent city states. A social
similarity was that these religions helped helped the government maintain social differences in
society. India had the highly inflexible caste system while China had a more lenient social
pyramid. The caste system was supported by the belief in reincarnation and karma in India
where if you lived a good life as a good person you would reincarnate into a good caste because of
your karma so you were ultimately responsible for your own caste. In China, Confucianism
promoted the idea that those in lower classes should stay there and respect their

DonT Sleep There Are Snake Life And Language In The...
Daniel L. Everett s ethnography, Don t Sleep, There Are Snakes Life and Language in the
Amazonian Jungle, writes about experiences and life he faced during the time living among the
Piraha. Everett, is a linguist who s whole mission during his stay with the Piraha s was to not only
learn their language, but to convert them to Christianity. This however never happened, Everett
actually ends up giving up his faith for the name of science and language. His novelis a page turner,
it make the reader to want to keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws
people in, the way he chooses his words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that
they are with him.
Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven
years learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we
perceive languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting
systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set
phonemes in the world, along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or
past ideologies, totally living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable
aspect about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the villages.
Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there was any cultural
boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is unknown, but it was something
that caught my attention while reading.
The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a
certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in
the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have
the village totally quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are
sleeping. They start their day very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women
search of wild fruits and vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they
needed for the day. It was also interesting to read that

Black Like Me, By John Howard Griffin
Over fifty years ago, a Texan named John Howard Griffin decided to start a revolutionary
experiment to change the color of his skin and experience racism in the South firsthand. While
considered extremely controversial at the time, the arguments and teachings of Griffin in his book,
Black Like Me, are still scrutinized and discussed today. The book has continued to enlighten
readers to the oppressive, violent racismin America, and aided them in realizing that racism, while
it may be hidden, is still prevalent today. It has encouraged a new generation to work towards
equality, while warning about the dangers of supremacy, to progressively improve society for all.
Readers are exposed to the fact that many deny the existence of racism by... Show more content on

While it may be harmless, it still exists today. The idea that someone is different will
subconsciously make one act different, as Banaji experiences (Vedantam). Griffin too experiences
this, when he is hitchhiking and white males are offering him rides; he is astounded that they
would ask such provoking and private questions about his personal life. Griffin realizes that they
would not ask the same questions to a white man for the fear of being rude, but when talking to a
black man, they see them as subhuman (Griffin 86). Many would believe it is not a racist act, as
the white men are helping them and they are not harming them. However, by treating them so
rudely and cruelly, while it may be unconsciously, they are affecting them psychologically, which is
possible to do in many ways.
As society has progressed towards non violence, racism has changed into a different form, with
harsher psychological effects. A main cause of this psychological effect of racism is the
stereotyping that society has accepted as normal (Anderson). Although it may be unintentional, it
is easy to deny stereotyping exists, but difficult to prove that it does not exist. As Griffin
recounts, white society had everything sewed up. If you didn t...say yes, you were in deep
trouble. If you did, then you allowed [them] to go...on believing in the stereotype (Griffin 167). He
explains the idea society had created of a good Negro and a bad Negro, and reveals that African

  • 2. Dementia With Lewy Bodies ( Dlb ) Essay Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), when cognitive symptoms appear within a year of movement problems, is a complex and challenging neurodegenerative disorder. (Pervin, Edwards Lippa, 2016). It is complex because the DLB pathology and its impact on certain brain regions are unclear. The pathology includes Lewy bodies, senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. It is challenging because its many core features make it difficult for individuals to perform activities of daily living. The core clinical features comprise of declining and fluctuating cognition, behavioural and psychotic behaviours and spontaneous signs of parkinsonism. DLB main neuropathological structures are Lewy bodies, nevertheless it also has the Alzheimer s disease (AD) pathology of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (Pervin, Edwards Lippa, 2016). Astonishing up to 80 percent of individuals can show AD pathology (Colom Cadena et al., 2013). Lewy bodies are located in cell cytoplasm, spherical in shape, eosinophilic, neuronal attachments, with a compressed hyaline centre and clear halo. They are made of unusual shortened and phosphorylated proteins and alpha synuclein is the main component (Hancock, 2011). The alpha synuclein accumulations, termed Lewy bodies (LB) and Lewy neuritis (LN), disturb brain chemicals resulting in complications with movement, thinking, mood and behaviour. In a fit brain, alpha synuclein is essential in brain neurons, especially at presynaptic part, where cell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The sectoral composition of the economy has changed from that of an agriculture based economy to one dominated by the services sector. The services sector has been the highest contributor to GDP, at 56 per cent, followed by the industrial sector at 26 per cent and the agricultural sector at 18 per cent in 2004. Liberalization, private sector participation and increased competition have contributed to the expansion of the services sector, with buoyant performance in transportation, communications, financial services, trade and tourism. The performance in the agricultural sector is an important determinant of GDP, as this sector directly accounts for around one fifth of national output and employs over one third of the workforce. Its importance is larger than these figures indicate because of links between agriculture, manufacturing and services. The manufacturing base is dominated by the apparel industry, although the production of food and beverages, as well as chemical and rubber based goods, is also important. Industrial exports are ... When empowered employees truly understand their potential, there is almost an immediate positive reaction in the both the company and the individual. For a company to realize success, employees must be trusted and empowered to make business decisions that are in line with the company s governing policies. The objective of this paper is to provide a better understanding of why and how employee empowerment is critical to run a successful operation. Lawson (2006) For empowerment to come to fruition, it can take years before all the pieces are correctly administered and functioning on their own. Patients and understanding must be displayed as new employees are brought on board and setbacks happen. The worst actions an organization can take are to stop embracing the free thinking of their employees and to discontinue training. Organization must keep their workforce engaged. As Gilbert Jamison (n.d.) wrote Bottom line, creating and sustaining a culture of excellence cannot be achieved without fully engaged employees who feel a part of the organization, and that they are truly valued contributors to the success of the organization. Organizations must support their teams consistently, provide ample training to new employees, and follow up with continuous training to keep the employee engaged. Support from all areas and a collaborative environment must be established to embrace creative thinking. With patients and time, the organization will become self managed through employee empowerment. • 10. Parody In Ann Radcliffe s Northanger Abbey In Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen s witty parody of Ann Radcliffe s gothic classic The Mysteries of Udolpho, offers a euphemism of Gothic romances. A comic study of the ironic discrepancies between the ordinary world in which Catherine Morland lives in and the fantasy that shapes her imagination, fed by gothic novels, gives to that world. Austen shows the differences between the heroine s real situation and the gothic world she fantasizes. Austen uses Catherine s ordinariness as a way to celebrate implicitly the ordinary heroism of all women. Austen uses a distinct type of irony in her creation of Northanger Abbey s heroine. Catherine is someone who rejects the constricting standards of previous depictions of female heroism and instead embraces a tomboyish persona, allowing her to challenge the gendered standards of heroism as they were portrayed within literature (Niebuhr 150). She understands that people can be both good and bad because real life is never as black and white as it is in the novels she reads. In her mind, she is a Gothic heroine or at least, she is in training to become one. In the novel, Austen wrote, from fifteen to seventeen she was training for a heroine, she read all such works as heroines must read to supply their memories with those quotations which are so serviceable and so soothing in the vicissitudes of their eventful lives (Austen 20). Francis Ford Coppola has said that the film was a metaphor for business in America, and certainly, the word was used consistently throughout the entirety of the film, generally by the Corleone family, they were doing business. Each of the capping scenes had broader metaphors for the movie, but instilled and enforced transitions of power. Along with the score, which swelled at times, then was delicate and trying, setting a tone and pace for most of the film, while crescendoing in the very beginning and the end of the film, was the transitions of power were complete/reinforced/and cemented. • 12. Case 6.4 Drug Dilemmas Essay Case 6.4: Drug Dilemmas The cost of new medical drugs seems to be accepted by many people who use them. These pharmaceutical companies increase their profits more and more each year because many people assume that it does cost a lot of money for research and development. Where in reality, they are only spending about 15% of their profit margins on research and development alone. A huge percentage of these drugs are actually tested in other countries where people are more willing to do trials with these drugs because they cannot afford them. Not only are there more people who are more willing to try them, but also there is less regulation and oversight when it comes to testing. Conducting these clinical trials overseas not only saves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the first CI, it is morally wrong to sell these medical drugs at such a high cost, especially when it does not cost relatively as much to create the drug. Looking at the act universally, we can determine that if everyone had a product that they placed on the market and charged a tremendously greater amount than the cost to produce the product/service, then our economy would most likely collapse. There is no real necessary need to make such a huge profit margin. Also, considering Kant s belief that every change has a reason and we may understand there is no reason for these companies to charge such a high price. Especially because most of today s society falls under the middle to lower class and only a small group of wealthy individuals will be likely to survive. Therefore, the maxim cannot be willed as universally acceptable and will be considered as an immoral act. Another question we come across in this case is Should these pharmaceutical companies have a moral obligation to make the drugs available to the people who they performed clinical trials on? . Again we clearly should see that the pharmaceutical companies should allow the access of these drugs to the people that are being used to test their products. There is a huge risk for these people who are taking a new drug, not knowing exactly what the outcome can be and are merely treated as guinea pigs for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Elton John s Song Ticking Ticking is one of Elton John s most powerful and under rated songs. Bernie Taupin, Elton s song writer, wrote the words why Elton wrote the music, and together they created a song that presents a strong statement. It is a story about a fictional young man who is seemingly normal, but in the end, he snaps and unleashes his carnage. For a song released in 1974, years before mass shootings like Columbine, Aroura, and Orlando, it is eerie that it can relate to so many mass shooting that have happened in the past few years. Elton and Bernie are giving a warning in this song that, as a society, we should focus on trying to reduce gunviolence and focus more on mental health. Looking at the title, Ticking may not immediately mean anything, but once you dig into the lyrics of the song it becomes clear. It refers to a young man who is seemingly normal and very quiet, however in the end he snaps. Ticking is being used as a metaphor to represent the young man who appears normal but is slowly getting closer to the breaking point. The first stanza begins in a calm tone like the ... The adaptive immune response is antigen specific and requires the recognition of specific non self antigens during a process called antigen presentation. Antigen specificity allows for the generation of responses that are tailored to specific pathogens or pathogen infected cells. The ability to mount these tailored responses is maintained in the body by memory cells . Should a pathogen infect the body more than once, these specific memory cells are used to quickly eliminate it. so basically killer T cells will identify antigens present on foreign cells. These antigens are not found in any of the cells inside our body. So T cells will identify them and kill them. C. What are lymphocytes and where are they produced? Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell, which are an important part of the immune system. Lymphocytes can defend the body against infection because they can distinguish the body s own cells from foreign ones. Once they recognize foreign material in the body, they produce chemicals to destroy that material. Two types of lymphocyte are produced in the bone marrow before birth. D. Distinguish between an antigen and an antibody. Antigens are substances that provoke an immune response (they re the ultimate target for the immune system). Antibodies are simply proteins that are secreted as a result of the antigen provoked immune response. In short, antigens cause the disease and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Importance of a Single Authorship of Isaiah INTRODUCTION The Importance of a Single Authorship of Isaiah When a critic attacks the authorship of Isaiah, it is like the devil putting his foot in the door. Modern criticism has cast doubt on the Bible. The written Word of God is a battlefield and many a skeptic has tried to dethrone the Bible claiming it is just another book. Denying a single authorship of Isaiah: 1. Casts doubt on the written Word of God 2. Makes Jesus appear ignorant when He said Isaiah wrote the scroll of Isaiah 3. Promotes skepticism about the authorship of other books 4. Makes Paul appear ignorant in quoting from Isaiah 5. Makes New Testament writers appear ignorant quoting from Isaiah A Brief Overview of the Book of Isaiah As a whole, Isaiah can be divided into three main parts: Isaiah 1 35 describes Messiah as a mighty Ruler and King Isaiah 36 39 relates to the times of Hezekiah Isaiah 40 66 describes the Messiah as the meek and lowly Servant of the LORD Some scholars feel that Isaiah 1 35 and Isaiah 40 66 must be works of different authors. The first part of Isaiah reveals a Messiah who is a mighty Ruler and King. The last part of Isaiah reveals a meek and lowly Messiah who is a suffering victim. This shift from a mighty ruler to a suffering victim, make some critics feel there are at least two authors to Isaiah. Other critics claim that certain portions of Isaiah 13:24 27 and certain verses in Isaiah 14 and 21 were also written by someone other than Isaiah. Therefore, according to ... Anthony did not right for a woman s right to vote or Katharine Hepburn did not defy Hollywood s ideal view of the traditional female movie star. Women have not always been given such a voice or granted such a place in marriage and society as they have today. In large part, the level of equality men and women share in the present timeis due to the bold and brave feminist literature writers of the nineteenth century. One such writer being Henrik Isben who, in 1879, wrote his play A Doll s House. A Doll s House centers around the character of Nora Helmer, wife to a wealthy, domineering husband, Torvald. As a nineteenth century wife, Nora was conflicted throughout the play with the male chauvinistic view of a womans role in marriage and society and her own aspirations of self identity. In Act I of A Doll s House, Isben introduced Nora to the audience through the viewpoint of how society thought of women during that time childlike, uneducated, dependent, and submissive. The first act of the play starts off when Nora had returned home from Christmas shopping, and Torvald was in the study. Singing and giddy, Nora was excited for the Christmas festivities ahead for her husband and children. She snuck macaroons from her pocket and ate them quickly and secretively, like a child sneaking a cookie before dinner. Nora asked Torvald to come out of the study to see what she had bought. (2003) Introduction The impact of television exposure is relatively unknown in the recent decades. Therefore, large number of studies has been considered in order to find out the impact of television exposure on the behaviour of infants or children. According to the classic studies conducted by Bandura et. al (1963), the 3 to 5 years children continuously observe the aggressive behaviour of adult. Then they carry out the same aggressive behaviour in front of children, doll or other toys. Consequently, children imitate the aggressive behaviour of the actor, and mimic it in the presence of other children. Comparatively, Hayne et. al (2003) states that 4 to15 month old imitate limited actions demonstrated by videotaped models. Hence, the focus of this task is on the difference and similarities between the studies of Bandura et al. (1963) Hayne et al. (2003). • 22. The Finches From The Galapagos Island Change is the key factor in a species survival, whether that change, is being minimal or extremely dramatic, and without change a species have condemned itself to extinction. Animals have learned to adapt to their surroundings in order to survive, and with these adaptation people can witness new breeds added to the spectrum and see them flourish. Breeds can be defined as a stock of animals or plants within a species having a distinctive appearance and typically having been developed by deliberate selection. For example the finches from the Galapagos Island s they are all finches, but they all differed in their appearance, some had smaller others had larger beaks. Charles Darwinstudied these Finches and came to discover that the Finches differed in appearance because they had adapted to their environment. The GalГЎpagos finches provide an excellent example of this process. Among the birds that ended up in arid environments, the ones with beaks better suited for eating cactus obtained supplementary food. As a result, they were in healthier condition to mate. Similarly, those with beak shapes that were well suited in getting nectar from flowers or eating thicker shielded seeds in other environments were at an advantage there. In a very real sense, nature selected the best adapted varieties to survive and to reproduce. With his findings throughout the years Darwin formulated his theory of evolutionby natural selection, and published his first book entitled, On the Origin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whatever your preferences, when most people read a book, they typically want to read about something relatable. People want to read about people that are like them. The Interlopers and The Machine That Won the War are both short stories full of interesting plot points that keep the readers hooked right until the last word. The Interlopers is about two men hunting each other in the night, until a twist happens. The Machine That Won the War is about three men revealing secrets about how the war was truly won. However, The Interlopers offers a more realistic plot and relatable characters than The Machine that Won the War. In The Interlopers, the short story starts out by taking us to a forest of mixed growth somewhere on the eastern spurs of the Carpathians (Saki, The Interlopers). The winter night is cold and stormy, with the wind blowing wildly and the animals uneasy, there was movement and unrest among the creatures that were wont to sleep through the dark hours (Saki, The Interlopers). The forests are very steep, and the game it kept for hunting was not that great, however the two characters and their family have quarreled over it for years. The narrow strip of precipitous woodland that lay on its outskirt was not remarkable for the game it harbored or the shooting it afforded. (Saki, The Interlopers). There are also many theories of the motivation of a human being. For this paper, the authors will look at the motivation of Theodore Roosevelt to fulfill Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs. We will look how President Roosevelt was motivated to act throughout his life through each stage of the Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs. Maslow s Theory The Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs theory is a theory that attempts to summarize motivation. Maslow s theory is a biopsychosocial theory of motivation. A biopsychosocial theory means that it accounts for the biological needs and the psychosocial needs of a person. (Carpenter Huffman, 2013) Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory was first developed by Abraham Maslow in a 1943 paper. (Maslow, 1943) Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory works simply. It says that a person will meet baser or more primitive needs first before fulfilling more advanced or sophisticated needs. To the lay person, thus seems to be true. The hierarchy of needs are in the following order from simple to complicated: Physiological Needs Hunger, thirst, and maintenance of internal state of the body; Safety Needs to feel secure and safe, to seek pleasure and avoid pain; Belonging and Love Needs to affiliate with others, be accepted, and give and receive affection; Esteem Needs to achieve, be competent, gain approval, and excel; and Self Actualization Needs ... A crucial step before actually gathering these force and moments is to calibrate our balance. The objective of this experiment was to calibrate the L.A. Comp wind tunnel and to develop calibration plots that will later be used in future experiments. The L. A. Comp wind tunnel is a closed circuit wind tunnel that has been at the University of Oklahoma. It is a subsonic wind tunnel powered by a 400hp electric motor that spins three seven foot propeller at a constant speed. The speed of the air in this wind tunnel is adjusted by the pitch of the propellers adjusted by a hydraulics. The L.A. Comp wind tunnels usually operates at 150mph. The test ... There s Atticus Finch, a lawyer and the dad of Scout and Jem. He is skilled with rifles and is a caring father. The Opening Night In The Theater Play Analysis As the lights dim in the theatre, I know that my husband is in for an interesting experience, as he has no background knowledge (other than the quick Cole s notes version I gave in the car ride to Grand Bend) about the iconic Broadway sensation Chicago. Lots of long legs, toned abs and barely there costumes along with amazing musically talented ensemble definitely grab the attention of all in the theatre. This is not a show for young children! The darker, sultry side of life in the 1920s Chicago comes alive through edgy dancing, strong musical numbers and humour as the cast razzle dazzles its way through the story of the two divas, Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, who vie for the spotlight in Cook County Jail after doing away with their cheating lovers. Men view women across the nations as property . They claim that women are weak and stupid; therefore, men treat women as if they are higher than women. Bram Stoker s Draculaconveys the reality of Victorian, and today s society s prejudice toward the values of women by acknowledging only a woman s wrongs, and how New Women overcomes it. For example, in Dracula, Bram Stoker is aware of the stereotypes in the Victorian era; he decides to make two different aspirations and social life of the Victorian era. In this time period, men believed they were superior to women because women did not have jobs. For example, in Dracula, when Jonathan Harker sleeps in a room that Dracula did not assign him, he is trapped with three women in the parlor, and he believes he is going to die. At least God s mercy is better than that of these monsters.... At its foot a man may sleep as a man (Stoker 57). Perhaps, Jonathan believes that if the three women victimize him, it would make him less of a man that he is. Another example is the mention of the New Women when Lucy and Mina were going a walk: I believe we should have shocked the New Woman with our appetites (96). Without worrying bout being prim and proper, they were hungry enough, they did not care about the rules in the Victorian times. This started the rebellion of the New Woman . Stoker was familiar with feminist movement, growing up around strong women. Though Stoker was hostile towards women and the idea of the New Women , people confused him to be feminist because of the two contrasting women in the story: the Victorian example [Mina], and the angel that turned into a vampire. In the end, the women mentioned in the novel were either vampires, turned into a vampire, or end up dead. Even if he did not like women in general, he creates a New Woman , Mina Harker. • 46. Comparing The Impact Of Religion And Philosophy In India... When comparing the impact of religion and philosophy in India with the impact of religion and philosophy on these classical civilization s governments between 600 BCE and 600 CE, they were similar in that they used religion and philosophy to support social and caste divisions, they stressed the importance of following and obeying rules and the men who followed the teachings of the religion or philosophy were on the top of the social hierarchy. This was because both Chinaand India religion and philosophy used religion to justify the social divisions like the caste system in India by talking about reincarnation or the Confucian stress on the importance of obeying authority. Both India and China also had a religion or philosophy that encouraged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One social difference was that in India, religion didn t help the government unify their empire. Hinduism was so diverse and had so many offshoots and sects like the Shaivites and the Vaishnavites that it wasn t uniform enough to be shared across India and bring together the Indian subcontinent and empire. This was distinct from China where Confucianism was fairly consistent in its teachings and values. Because of this, all across China the idea of Confucianism linked various provinces and areas like the vastly different North and South China together. A follower of Confucius from a remote southern province would probably follow the same ideals that another follower of Confucius from the North. This let the government unify the Chinese empire and bring together otherwise very different people under one government. This difference was probably due to the fact that Hinduism had no one founder to dispense core values and it was a polytheistic religion so there were many different gods to follow while Confucianism was based on the teachings of one man, Confucius and followed his individual teachings and the interpretations of them. Of the two, China was much more unified while India remained incredibly diverse. However, both these governments and empires were more united than the Classical Greek civilization which was composed of fiercely independent city states. A social similarity was that these religions helped helped the government maintain social differences in society. India had the highly inflexible caste system while China had a more lenient social pyramid. The caste system was supported by the belief in reincarnation and karma in India where if you lived a good life as a good person you would reincarnate into a good caste because of your karma so you were ultimately responsible for your own caste. • 47. DonT Sleep There Are Snake Life And Language In The... Daniel L. Everett s ethnography, Don t Sleep, There Are Snakes Life and Language in the Amazonian Jungle, writes about experiences and life he faced during the time living among the Piraha. Everett, is a linguist who s whole mission during his stay with the Piraha s was to not only learn their language, but to convert them to Christianity. This however never happened, Everett actually ends up giving up his faith for the name of science and language. His novelis a page turner, it make the reader to want to keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws people in, the way he chooses his words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that they are with him. Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven years learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we perceive languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set phonemes in the world, along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or past ideologies, totally living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable aspect about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the villages. Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there was any cultural boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is unknown, but it was something that caught my attention while reading. The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have the village totally quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are sleeping. They start their day very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women search of wild fruits and vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they needed for the day. Black Like Me, By John Howard Griffin Over fifty years ago, a Texan named John Howard Griffin decided to start a revolutionary experiment to change the color of his skin and experience racism in the South firsthand. While considered extremely controversial at the time, the arguments and teachings of Griffin in his book, Black Like Me, are still scrutinized and discussed today. The book has continued to enlighten readers to the oppressive, violent racismin America, and aided them in realizing that racism, while it may be hidden, is still prevalent today. It has encouraged a new generation to work towards equality, while warning about the dangers of supremacy, to progressively improve society for all. The idea that someone is different will subconsciously make one act different, as Banaji experiences (Vedantam). Griffin too experiences this, when he is hitchhiking and white males are offering him rides; he is astounded that they would ask such provoking and private questions about his personal life. Griffin realizes that they would not ask the same questions to a white man for the fear of being rude, but when talking to a black man, they see them as subhuman (Griffin 86). Many would believe it is not a racist act, as the white men are helping them and they are not harming them. However, by treating them so rudely and cruelly, while it may be unconsciously, they are affecting them psychologically, which is possible to do in many ways. As society has progressed towards non violence, racism has changed into a different form, with harsher psychological effects. A main cause of this psychological effect of racism is the stereotyping that society has accepted as normal (Anderson). Although it may be unintentional, it is easy to deny stereotyping exists, but difficult to prove that it does not exist. As Griffin recounts, white society had everything sewed up. If you didn t...say yes, you were in deep trouble. If you did, then you allowed [them] to go...on believing in the stereotype (Griffin 167).
