• Difficult size – not sole trader / micro but need to
compete with multi nationals!
• Poor at marketing and business development
• Provide very niche services!
• Business processes had grown and evolved – not
always fit for purpose!

27. Challenges
• Time consuming to do well (but extremely rewarding)
• It isn’t a research project per se, it is about applying your
research in practice
• Need to speak the same language
• Need to embed the associate in the company (they are not
your research assistant)
• Related papers need careful planning and consideration of
research method
