An Essay On Technology
Writing an essay on the topic of technology can be both challenging and rewarding. The
difficulty arises from the vastness and ever-evolving nature of the subject. Technology
encompasses a wide range of aspects, from the historical development of tools to the latest
advancements in artificial intelligence. Navigating through this expansive landscape requires
careful research, critical thinking, and the ability to synthesize information coherently.
One of the challenges lies in keeping up with the rapid pace of technological advancements.
What may be cutting-edge today might become obsolete tomorrow. This dynamic nature
necessitates constant updates and a thorough understanding of the current state of technology.
Additionally, striking a balance between technical details and general accessibility for a diverse
audience can be daunting.
Another aspect that adds to the complexity is the ethical dimension of technology. As
technology becomes deeply integrated into our lives, addressing ethical concerns related to
privacy, surveillance, and the impact on society becomes crucial. Crafting an essay that delves
into these ethical considerations requires a nuanced approach, considering diverse perspectives
and potential consequences.
Moreover, the challenge extends to presenting a well-structured argument. The essay should have
a clear introduction, a well-developed body with coherent paragraphs, and a strong conclusion
that ties everything together. The task involves not just providing information but also
convincing the reader of the essay's thesis.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on technology can be immensely rewarding. It allows
the writer to explore the fascinating world of innovation, scientific discoveries, and societal
transformations driven by technology. It provides an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing
dialogue about the role of technology in shaping our present and future.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on technology poses several difficulties, overcoming these
challenges can lead to a thoughtful and insightful piece. It is an opportunity to engage with a
topic that influences every aspect of our lives. So, whether exploring the historical roots or
contemplating the ethical implications, the process of crafting an essay on technology can be
intellectually stimulating and gratifying.

Personal Account Of The Boston Massacre
Boston Massacre Hurry! The british are coming closer. I was in boston March 5
1970 the british were shooting into big crowds. I saw the pedestrians getting shot.
I was stuck in between a huge crowd that I could of barely move. When I finally
got out of the crowd I got a shiver and I thought that the british were coming closer.
When I saw the british again they were shooting people that were close by. I was
trying to escape but the british were cover a near getaway. I looked all around me I
can see people praying for their family members that got shot. I keep walking to
hopefully get out of this horrible disaster. I can t believe it there were crowds all
over the place. And on top of that there were british covering all available getaways.
Differing Opinions in 2 Articles on Tragic Death of...
ARTICLE COMPARISON
In February of 2014, Australian television personality, Charlotte Dawson committed
suicide and the story was explored in media. Amy Harris presented the Tragic End

Amy Harris presented specific background information on Dawson s life prior to her
suicide as she was not well known in Adelaide, and the highs and lows segment was
also informative, providing succinct details on her life experiences.
The Advertiser and the Otago Times Daily are written within somewhat different
contexts. With celebrity culture having a large importance within our society,
knowing that Dawson was only known in some world regions, Amy Harris
assumed the target audience to be uneducated of Dawson s life experiences. In The
Advertiser life experiences were presented sporadically throughout describing her
battling depression , living a life full of contradictions and becoming an anti
bullying advocate . In comparison, the Otago Daily Times gave little to no
background knowledge to readers as she was brought up in New Zealand and her
story is already in context. Also in recent years, celebrity suicide has not been
uncommon. According to the website NWO Insider , the celebrities, Lee Thomson
Young (September 2013), Corey Monteith (July 2013), Mindy McCready (February
2013), Mark Balelo (February 2013) and Gia Allemand (August 2013) all committed
suicide in the last year highlighting the prevalence of suicide and how common it is
in current society and therefore it is not unusual for this to occur. Mental health is
also described within context in both articles. The Advertiser comments on Dawson
being in a very bad shape emotionally as

Cell Phones Dbq
Cell phones are amazing things that allow us to so many great things, but are
causing us to loose sight to what really matters? Cell phones should not be allowed
to be out during school hours but should not be completely banned from the school
campus. They are used as status symbols, a way to measure self worth and make
us lose touch with reality. Although phones help with the learning process they are
used a social status. Most kids have cell phones, and for those of which don t, the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Calcium Phosphate
Tablets
Calcium Phosphate Ceramics (CPC)
Calcium phosphate ceramics are a type of ceramics with varying calcium to
phosphate ratio, the important properties of calcium phosphate biomaterials are their
bioresorption and bioactivity. The most widely used calcium phosphate based
bioceramics are hydroxyapatite (HAP) and ОІ tricalcium phosphate (ОІ TCP).
Synthetic Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a calcium phosphate whose stoichiometric
formula corresponds to Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 with calcium to phosphate ratio is 1.67,
it is the most stable phase of various calcium phosphates. It is stable in body fluid
and in dry or moist air up to 1200В°C and does not decompose and has shown to be
bioactive due to its resorbable nature. It is similar to bone mineral and is widely used
as a filler, spacer and bone graft substitute. Synthetic Hydroxyapatite can be prepared
in either dense or macroporous forms. Porous HA is osteoconductive (The

A disadvantage of bioactive glasses is that theygenerally possess low fracture
toughness values and hence poor mechanical strength, especially in porous form.
This leads to limited applications in load bearing situations. An early significant
modification of the heat treatment to form crystalline particles in a bioactive glass
matrix led to the development of apatite/wollastonite (A/W), Ceravital and Bioverit
glass ceramics, all of which come under class A bioactive materials. The A/W glass
ceramic is produced by partially crystallising the glass matrix that occurs after
prolonged heating of the bioactive glass, to promote nucleation of crystallisation. A
/W glass ceramics show higher bending strength than bioactive glasses due to the
assembly of apatite phases reinforced by Гџ wolastonite (CaSiO3), which is believed
to be the reason for the increased fracture toughness that makes it a better match to
bone for load bearing
How Are Breadheads Perceived By Mainstream Society
1.How are Dreadheads perceived by mainstream society, and additionally, how do
Dreadheads perceive mainstream society?
пѓ Dreadheads are perceived by the mainstream society as this counter culture group
who goes against societal norms as a way to differentiate themselves from Joe public.
Furthermore, this form of rebellion against society s expectations opens the door for
personal attacks against their character.
пѓ Dreadheads perceive mainstream society in a negative fashion since they feel
that they as an entire group are being unfairly judged upon based on their beliefs and
appearance. The subculture also believes that mainstream society is too controlling,
even going as far as to criticize them for speaking about freedom yet placing
constraints and sanctions upon this group or any ... Show more content on

Additionally, they share common values in the sense that they welcome with open
arms fellow members who are part of that particular group. One of the values/beliefs
in the Dreadhead culture is the idea of having an open mind and not prejudging
individuals based on their appearance which relates to the idea of the idea culture. A
connection that Dreadheads make that reinforces and strengthens their values is the
music that they head as it allows them to have a medium to express themselves in an
unconventional manner.
3. From the film, what are examples of ideal versus real culture in practice?
пѓ An example can be the contemporary society that we live in. In an ideal culture,
we as individuals preach the idea of freedom in terms of being living the style that
best suites you. In theory, society (especially in a democracy) would treat all
individuals fairly without prejudging their choices in life. The real culture, however,
revolves around society s expectations to adapt to the social norms that have been
established by the mainstream culture.

my understanding, I thought the paper was due on Sunday the 19th. I was out of

turn it in the night of the 19th. For that reason, I turned it in on Monday the 20th

Pan s Labyrinth
The founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, developed a wide variety of
psychoanalytic theories that are often used to analyze a diverse body of literary and
artistic works. An example being, the Family Romance theory. It is an abnormal state
of mind a child enters during the pre pubescent stage. It consists of the child
fantasizing that they are not the biological son or daughter of their parents. This
occurs when a parent fails to reciprocate affection to their child; consequently, urging
them to seek retaliation through imaginary means. The Family Romance theory
explains the cultural phenomenon behind children detaching themselves from their
parents in order to gain independence. It is a psychological concept featured within
the family dynamic of Guillermo del Toro s 2006 film Pan s Labyrinth . Pan s
Labyrinth depicts the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War through the eyes of
Ophelia, an innocent child, and the magical realm she comes across in the woods. In
the film, it is Ophelia s lack of a father figure, rivalry between... Show more content

Yet, Ofelia continues to love her mother unconditionally. However, Carmen s
neglectfulness, similarly to the child in Freud Family Romances, has caused
Ofelia to criticize her mother for disregarding her. As a result, Ofelia decides to
detach herself from her mother. It is a task that each adolescent must do in order to
become an independent being. The fantasies and magical beings Ofelia created
allowed her to mature into an adult. In doing so, Ofelia is also able to save the life
of her younger brother after being relinquished from her mother s parental rule.
Ofelia is able to become her own person because of the many circumstances she was
involved in throughout the film. Had Ofelia not been neglected by her mother
throughout the course of her pregnancy, Ofelia would not have achieved
independence as well as
What Type of Ipo Should Avaya Use

Module 1 Case Assignment
Introduction
Upon deciding to go public, a company looks into preparing an initial public
offering (IPO). There are two IPOs with which a company can utilize: a traditional
IPO or the relatively new Auction based IPO that was made popular by Google.
Avaya is currently planning for IPO. Avaya is a global leader in business
communications systems. The company provides unified communications, contact
centers, data solutions and related services directly and through its channel partners
to leading businesses and organizations around the world (Avaya.com, 2011). Avaya
s current plan of an IPO valued at approximately $1 billion (Klassen, 2011) needs to

Once this process has finished, the investment bank is paid a percentage of the sale
as commission as well as fees for the underwriting process. Due to the discount of
the IPO from the estimate of the market value, traditional IPOs normally trade
much higher than the initial price (Clinton, 2011). Being a long used and well
known process, traditional IPOs allow for more choices of underwriters. Using an
investment bank with experience in traditional IPOs allows for the road show to
give the high profile investors a greater idea of the value of the company, and since
the allocation of shares is done during this process they can avoid over valuing the
company. Nayantara Hensel writes that underwriters who do less than three IPOs
a year will average a first day price increase of 10%. On the other hand Hensel also
tells us that the average first day price increase for all traditional IPOs is 38%,
meaning a loss in the potential capitol for the company. The investment bank
underwriting for a traditional IPO normally gets a 7% underwriting fee of the amount
earned or more, bringing the potential money lost to 45 50%.
Auction Based IPO An auction based IPO uses the Internet to open a company s IPO
stock for purchase to more potential investors. This process allows a company to
spend less on their underwrite fees. The company
The Goals And Philosophy Of Art
Goals and Philosophy:
Visual Merchandisers have many employment options available in many different
sectors. I believe that displays are all encompassing. It is the little details that
culminate a theme or feel that makes customers want to shop at a particular store
and have a certain type of experience depending on who they are. It is all about
making an environment whether a store, a party, a home, etc. as inviting and
welcoming as possible. I strongly believe that there is so much inspiration out there
that can be used to create compelling store displays that provoke consumers to shop
and help maximize a store s profits. This is an interesting field where not only are
artistic skills necessary, but also the ability to merchandise the sales floor and make
every visual aspect of a store experience enjoyable.
My art is inspired by popular culture, the work of other artists in similar fields, and
the work of surrealist artists. The prospect of being able to have a job that
comprises of creativity and a unique perspective motivates me to pursue a career in
art and design. I want to be able to have a job that I feel is rewarding and where
each day is somewhat different from the next which is possible with visual
merchandising because retail is always changing visually to keep up with trends and
seasons.
In the short term I hope to get a visual merchandising internship or job where I can
get more experience and use my skills that I have learned, in the retail environment. In
Jonathan Edward Puritan Sermons Analysis
Jonathan Edwards was the most prominent and powerful of all the Puritan leaders, he
was the heir of four generations of Puritan ministers; he came into power when
Puritanism was on the decline. The notoriety of the Salem witchcraft trials, killed
many people and send many more to prison, which embittered the community s next
generation, the tragic occurrence which showed the prodigality of foolish Puritan
eagerness; Edwards wanted to change the disturbing secularism and the divine
weariness by holding a revival movement to correct all things, it was called the Great
Awakening.
Edwards, was against the introduction of the Half Way Covenant, which influence
and brought a sense of factual and divine comfort to the New Englander s, he
believed the Half Way Covenant wasn t fair because the Half Way Covenant only
extended affiliation to the third generation of those who acknowledged realistic
faith. Whereas a complete church affiliation was the source of pride only to those
and the children of those who could attest to the individual practice of change. The
revival movement moved many to strengthen their religious solemnity, throughout
New England. Edward s sermons were envisioned as a wake up call for all those who

The imagery in the first part of the sermon graphically emphasizes the subject of the
unregenerate. Edwards goes on to attack the rationality of the unconverted that
persuade themselves that God is not the one who preserve their life. Edwards
reminds them that unless they make an abundant change of heart by the power of
the spirit of God and becomes a child of god, they are still sinners in the hands of an
angry God, standing on the slippery slope of adversity, and at any moment they

Psychological Criticism In A Rose For Emily By William...
A Rose for Emily , by William Faulkner, focuses on many different literary
criticisms. A psychological criticism expresses literature through personality, state
of mind, feelings, and emotions. The psychological approach is a unique form of
criticism in that it draws upon psychological theories in its interpretation of a text
(George). In this story psychological criticism is shown greatly through Emily, the
main character of the book. Do you know why Emily acts and behaves the way
that she does? Emily is in a denial, and the situation is making her delusional. Emily
behaves the way she does for numerous reasons. She is born into an aristocratic
family. Emily is brought up as a Southern belle by her father and is placed on a
pedestal by the townspeople. The Grierson s are known in town for being
extremely wealthy and having the nicest house in Jefferson, Yoknapatawpha
County. Due to the fact that her father, Mr. Grierson, keeps her isolated and
socially restricted as a child, she behaves abnormally. Emily feels as if she is
pressured to live up to her father s expectations. Because Emily is kept away from
everything, she is not yet exposed to the real world.
Everybody in town feels sorry for Emily when her father passes away. When Emily
decides to isolate herself, the town automatically assumes that she is up to
something without giving her a chance. Throughout the entire story, the
townspeople are whispering and repeatedly saying Poor Emily . They label her as
crazy as soon as they feel she was acting abnormal. Every action that is taken by
Emily creates a reaction from the townspeople. So, the next day we all said, she
will kill herself , and we said it would be the best thing (Faulkner 85). The town
gives off the impression that they despise Miss Emily, they lead the readers to
believe that Emily is doing some type of harm to the community. Mr. Grierson
supports the town financially and physically. When the mayor exempts her from
paying taxes it starts a conflict between Emily and the town of Jefferson. Since
Emily has special privileges, the townspeople are now unsatisfied. Jealousy and
hatred plays a major role in why the town feels and acts the way they do towards
Emily.

An Persuasive Speech On Sports At The Shoreline
Hey, we should discuss sports at the shoreline!
Alright: I know some of you really work as a profession, and you don t get a mid year

those individuals who adores it when there s no one in the workplace on Summer

Part of the reason everybody adores sports at the shoreline is that you can make a
plunge the sand or the water. You can jump for a catch, plunge for Frisbee, jump for
a touchdown, with insignificant danger of winding up in the healing center. So lay it
out there! Keep in mind: on the off chance that you don t jump for a touchdown, you
re going to catch wind of it on shoreline sports talk radio later.

submerging submerged, clinging to the ball, and triumphantly thinking of it. It s a

Why did Quiznos go out of business in Rexburg? Did you know that we are

of years. Imagine that you re in my shoes, with the knowledge that there is not a

Quiznos sign. You walk up for a closer look, and find that the place is completely
desolate. How would you feel? Would you ask yourself why? How? Because that is
exactly what I did.
So what is the most important thing in a restaurant? You d think it would be food.
In a talk given by Thomas Keller, a restaurant owner, about what excellent food
does to a restaurant, Mr. Keller talks a lot about the quality of food, and a customers
experience. The experience that one has in a restaurant is something that should be
completely about the consumer. If the consumer does not have a good experience at
a restaurant, there is a good chance that he or she will not come back. The quality of
the food at a restaurant can depend a lot on the quality of ingredients. It s important

The Father Of Pan, The Greek God Of Nature
Pan is the Greek god of Nature. He was born father Hermes and his mother, who is
one of
Dryops daughters. When Pan was born and his mother and nurse saw that he had
horns ,ears, tail, and legs of a goat they both ran away to escape Pan s monstrous
appearance. Then Hermes saw his child. He was over joyed and to Pan to Olympus
and proudly introduced his son to the immortals. After that Pan grow up and went to
the forest in Arcadia there he had worshiper.
Pan s main domain was nature, but he mostly stay in Arcadia. Also most of his
follower lived there. Arcadia was a group of mountain dwelling people separated
from other Greeks. Also it is said that if the hunter were disappointed with the chase
they would scourge the statue of Pan.
Being a rustic god Pan was never worshiped in temples or any built building. He
was worshiped in Natural sitting like cave or grottos; these are often called the
caves of Pan. It is said when Pan is lonely he lets out a whale that send fear though
any mortal that hears it, this is part of the reason why panic is dedicated to pan.
There is another thing with pan he is associated with fertility and spring, but he is
also associated with a mother goddess either Rhea or Cybele.
Unlike some other gods Pan was ugly. Also he lived in the mortal world. He hunted
for his food in the mountain and he pursued quite a wild life himself, but he also
spent his time playing with the woodland nymphs he also talked to them too. He also
had another side to him. This
Feeling Small Art
Feeling Small: Scale and Proportion in Art As I walk on the grounds of the Nelson
Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, I encounter one of the Oldenburg and van
Bruggen s giant shuttlecocks. Additionally, as I view and walk around this giant
shuttlecock, I cannot help but think of how this object is disproportional, especially
in comparison to it s surroundings. The shuttlecock is huge and unbelievably larger
than the average size of a shuttlecock, which would fit within the palm of my hand.
An altered view is created by the use of the visual principles of scale and proportion
in order to create this sculpture. Distinguishing between scale and proportion is
significant in depicting a specific image in which the size is questionable and cannot
be visualized accurately. According to the textbook, scale is the size relation of one
thing to another. However, Proportion is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The image is also funny because of the proportion of the objects within the piece of
art. According to the text, it is appeared that the badminton game was being played
on the grass and it appears that the shuttlecock fell during a game between two
giants who used the museum as the net for the game. I find this to be hilarious
when I picture it in my head because the falsehood of the museum is amazing.
Normally a museum would be much larger than the individuals playing badminton
and the objects used to play the game. However, in this piece of art, it is the
complete opposite and it makes me laugh when thinking about the game of
badminton. Although I am unsure if the artists intended to make the artwork funny, I
believe that it provides a sense of relief for the individuals viewing the pieces. The
artists deserve to be respected for the intelligent idea to create something that can be
misinterpreted and examined at a closer look in order to find the real meaning of the
Tectonic Plates
The Earth is a very detailed planet; there are many actions going on at once on this
planet. The Earth has many boundaries, plates. and layers. The plates beneath our
feet mold the world we live in. While very slowly, the plates are indeed moving.
There are a few variations to the plates; they have different directions in which they
move in relation to separate plates. These changes in plate movement have different
side effects, from ocean trenches to miles of mountain ranges. In 1912, a german
climatologist, Alfred Wegener proposed that the continents were once joined and
made one land mass. He named this super continent Pangaea. He had a lot of
evidence to prove that they were once together, but he was missing one key section of
information,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each plate is moving a certain direction due to the convection from the
Asthenosphere. The meeting of two plates is called a boundary, there are three types
of boundaries in the world: Convergent Boundaries, Divergent Boundaries. And
Transform Boundaries. In the case of Convergent Boundaries, two plates are pushing
against each other, which can create Deep Ocean Trenches, Huge Mountains, and/or
Volcanic Mountain chains. An example of this happening is the Mariana Trench,
During Convergence, the denser crust, oceanic crust, is subducted below the less
dense crust. If the crusts have the same density then the plates are pushed upwards.
At Divergent Boundaries, the plates are moving away from each other, this can
create Mid Ocean Ridges and Rift Valleys. An example of this happening is the Mid
Atlantic Ridge. At the final boundary, Transform Boundaries, the plates slide the past
one another in the opposite direction, causing shallow earthquakes and offset
features. An example of this Boundary is The San Andreas Fault. While the crust
moves, there are places called Hot spots in which a hot portion of the mantle rises up
beneath the crust for millions of years. An example of this is the Hawaii Island
How Is Gran Torino Related To Sociology
Gran Torino
To what extent has Clint Eastwood portrayed the struggle between different cultural
groups within the film Gran Torino
In the film Gran Torino the director, Clint Eastwood, has shown the immense
struggle between the different races in such a way that is realistic to the modern day
today. Strong wiled war veteran Walter Kowalski, played by director Clint Eastwood,
is under going a major change in society. The neighbour hood in which he has always
lived in is in desperate need of cultural acceptance and change. In this Eastwood film
there is massive showing of the evolution of violence. Where it started and how it
ended within the Hmong community.
The main character, Walter Kowalski, has many issues with cultural difference.
This stems from his old fashioned views on life and his traumatic past. Walt has had
a previous career in the military and was involved in the Korean War hence why his
views on the Hmong people are very negative. There is not only ... Show more

At first Kowalski isn t bothered by all the bad in his neighbourhood but this all
changes when a Hmong family move in next door. There are very clear cultural
differences between the Hmong family and the very obsolescent Kowalski. He
struggle majorly in trying to accept the fact that his new neighbours were not of
the same culture as him. There is a breaking point in the movie where the Hmong
son from next door, Vang Thao Lor, breaks into Kowalski s garage and tries to steal
his classic car, the Gran Torino. The reasoning behind him doing this is because
Thao s cousin is trying to get him involved in his gang and as an entry ritual he
makes him steal the car, thus being non successful. This major plot line is encircled
with the constant violence of Mexican and Korean gangs. The violence starts with
language and suggested weapons and ends up with strong violence including rape and
eventual death of
Charles 1 English Civil War Essay
War did start between King Charles I and Parliament due to the countless times
Parliament trying to negotiate with Charles but him just turning them down.
Parliament ended up winning with the help of Oliver Cromwell, a military general.
Parliament only wanted to try again to offer Charles options where he could still be
king but that he needed to agree to their terms and when Charles did not accept, he
was eventually brought to court. In court Carles I was marked guilty and in the first
time in England, a king was sentenced to death. In his final speech, Charles I says, I

As they were sitting there about two o clock in the morning, they heard the tread
of somebody coming very slowly upstairs. By and by the door opened, and a man

approached the body, considered it very attentively for some time, and then shook
his head and sighed out the words, Cruel necessity ! He then departed in the same
slow and concealed manner as he had come in. Lord Southampton used to say that he

This quote shows that Oliver Cromwell has came to see the king s dead body and
said that this was cruel but needed. Once they Abolished the Monarchy by killing

phenomenon and certainly knew of no way to control them. This is perhaps the
reason for his creation of ritual and later religion. As man evolved he began to
consider the possibilities of gaining some type of control over his environment. If
nature was simply a random set of events ruled only by chaos than this wouldn t be
possible. However, if something or better yet someone was in control, one could
acquire what they desired by pleasing this entity. In the beginning, according to some

It is obvious therefore that there are, as always seems to be the case, exceptions;
however in most cases the gods are seen as similar to man s image. Aside form the
human form, gods speak the same language as the Greeks and use the same organs to
do so, in other words, no telepathy. While they are able in some cases to reproduce
asexually, sexual reproduction seems to be the more often used method. The asexual
reproduction of Gaea produced Uranus, the Mountains, and Pontus. Later her sexual
reproduction with Uranus produced numerous offspring. While the use of sexual
reproduction was human like (obviously not exclusive to humans but still human
like), the use of alternative reproduction was represented in the myths. An example
of such an alternative would be the conception of the Giants and Erinyes by Gaea
when the blood of Uranus fell onto her. While the Greeks seem to have known that
human reproduction was related to the sperm entering the woman, they also seem to
think the Gods had ways to bypass this requirement. Going along with this
observation of sperm into woman, they Greeks recognized the woman as the vessel
in which life developed, whether she attributed to this life s origination is another
question. However there are some exceptions to this such as when Zeus eats his
pregnant wife, thus becoming the
Love For England And Lucy By William Wordsworth
Before the Lyrical Ballad was published, William Wordsworth spent time in
Germany away from England. During this time, he composed a set of poems that
would eventually be known as the Lucy Poems . This set of poems would make
their way into the first edition of the Lyrical Ballad. All of them, except for one.
Out of the five poems he writes, I travell d among unknown Men wouldn t appear in
the Lyrical Ballad alongside the other four Lucy Poems (Locke, 44). This particular
poem, compared to the rest, is the most iconic poem for showing Wordsworth s love
for England and Lucy . I travell d among unknown Men is a four stanza poem with
four lines in each stanza. The format is in an ABAB style and consists of the first
and third line of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that Wordsworth puts In Lands beyond the Sea in his poem signifies that
during the creation of this poem he was, at one point, away from his home. In this
case that place was Germany. Wordsworth also does this in order to connect to the
audience on a deeper level of thought. For those who have been through a similar
situation as Wordsworth, they would feel the presence of walking among
unknown Men more noticeably than others. This stanza ties in with the following
stanza, Nor, England! did I know till then what love I bore to thee (lines 3 4), to
make the primary message of his poem clear: Wordsworth, during his time in
Germany, is realizing how much he loves England. Because he has stayed away
from England for a long period of time he begins to realize how much he loves it.
Wordsworth loves it so much so that he states that, once he returns to England, he
will never leave England again (line 6). The reasoning, however, is not because he
despises Germany or loves the country of England in its entirety. Rather, it is
because of the unknown figure of Lucy who is also a separate focus in this poem.
Wordsworth makes the connection between Lucy and England by expressing how
his feelings of joy and desire of England came from her presence. She is introduced
into the poem at line 11 and 12 in which she turned her wheel beside and English Fire
and is confirmed to be Lucy at lines 15 and 16 in which she saw a green field

The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire Essay examples
The City state of Rome became a republic in 509 BC. Rome fought numerous battles
to become what it was at its height. It all started with the Punic wars. After they won,
there was no stopping them. By the first century BC, Rome controlled most of the
known world. (Mahoney, 2001) With Augustus Caesar began the two centuries of the
Pax Romana. During this time all of Rome became a collection of states rather than
conquered provinces. The only threats that ever came were from the unorganized
barbarian tribes who s conquest brought nothing to the Empire. (Mahoney, 2001) The
rise of the Roman Empirehad many contributors. These factors would include
strength in the military, society, leadership, religious, and architectural aspects of the

Emperor Hadrian concentrated more on how the Empire was run verses making it
larger. He also helped start the Pax Romana (Roman Peace). (Mahoney, 2001) The
fourth factor was the amazing engineers, inventors, and architects in the Empire.
By 200 AD the Romans had built 53,000 miles of roads throughout the Empire. The
very first was built in 312 BC. They also invented sewers, central heating systems,
and the first types of concrete. (Mahoney, 2001) The last of all the factors was
religion. The Romans worshiped around 30,000 gods in all. These included the
major gods and goddesses such as Jupiter, the chief god, Neptune, god of the sea,
Venus, goddess of love and beauty, and Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war.
Each household also worshipped their own protective spirits. After Caesar s death,
the emperors were considered gods too. People all over the empire were allowed
to worship their own local gods as long as they paid homage to the Roman gods.
The people built large temples for worship of their different gods. They looked to
the gods to help protect their families and lives. This also helped when going into
battle. How could you not win with so many gods on your side? (Mahoney, 2001)
As you have read, many things attributed to the rise of the Empire. Many things also
attributed to its fall as well. These included poor leadership, economic trouble, as
well as growth aspects. (Mahoney, 2001) The Empire began with great leaders, but

NGS s structure also passes the Parenting Advantage Test (2) in some scenarios. The
senior management does a good job of communicating the firm s strategy on a regular
basis, creates task forces comprising of leaders from all groups and facilitates input
from the entire organization through employee attitude surveys.
Although NGS s unique content and sound leadership have led to its previous
success, new developments in the digital space have surfaced cultural and structural
deficiencies. One of the main weaknesses is a lack of coordination. This weakness is
the Achilles heel of the organization, and proves its detriment when applying the
Market Advantage, Parenting Advantage, People, Difficult Links, and Flexibility
Tests (1, 2, 3, 6 and 9 respectively). Looking at the Market Advantage Test, it appears
that there is sufficient management in place to oversee each of the market segments
that NGS competes in; however, there is poor communication across the groups,
making it difficult to collaborate and maximize the profitability of each. Similarly,
when administering the Parenting Advantage and Difficult Links Tests, it is clear
that Link and Leverage Propositions are not used by NGS. The current organization
fails to coordinate the efforts of each unit, and therefore cannot leverage the strengths
of each, without potentially diminishing the efforts of the others. According to the

Ancient Egypt-The Great Pyramid Of Giza
Egypt has had a complex history. At the beginning of recorded history, Egypt was
ruled by god kings called pharaohs. Each one attempted to outdo his predecessors in
the scale and complexity of his tomb. This competition led to Egypt s most
recognizable monuments: the pyramids. Pharaohs such as Djoser, Snefru, and Khufu
built ever bigger monuments to their own glory and to the gods they worshiped.
What innovations were created in the path to the largest pyramid the Great pyramid
of Giza, and what caused those innovations?
In the 1st dynasty, pharaohs built their tombs at Abydos, on the west bank of the
Nile. According to Egyptian myth, the western desert was the land of the dead, due
to the fact that the sun set in the west and was reborn in the east. The pharaohs built
mastabas, mounds of dirt and rock roughly shaped like a brick. In the center of each
structure, a shaft was dropped down for many feet. The bottom of that shaft was

bedrock. Snefru s engineers changed the angle in the upper section to an angle of 43

Gynecomastia Research Paper
Gynecomastia is the medical term for female like breasts on males. The word is
derived from the Greek language and actually translates to womanly breasts. Most
guys don t talk about it but many more of them suffer from it than one might

population. To get rid of these soft appendages, guys can opt for surgical

ways gynecomastia can occur, including being overweight, taking drugs (recreational

steroids in body builders, or marijuana in pot smokers. Many adolescent boys exhibit
these surprising mounds on their chest as they re experiencing the hormonal changes

The first thing a sufferer of gynecomastia should do is see his doctor. The physician
will rule out tumors in the chest and prescription medicine side effects, and may
put him on a diet to get rid of some weight. If none of these fixes alleviates the
problem, his next step may be to see a cosmetic surgeon. Other than that, his only
options would be to wear a flattening garment over his man boobs for life or live
with slight cleavage. If a man really does not like his appearance, cosmetic surgery
can be an option. Surgical intervention: In order to return the patient s chest to a
more manly appearance, the plastic surgeon may perform a combination of
liposuction and breast reduction. These would be outpatient procedures performed
in a hospital or clinic setting. Liposuction: Lipo is a technique which removes fatty

My First Love Essay
Everyone loves to tell the story of their first love, and the beautiful lesson they
learned through the adventure. You hear the phrase, you ll never forget your first as
you see a small smirk flourish across the faces of people who remember their story.
Through all the experiences shared, I never would have believed the result of falling
out of love. All of the novels and sweet smiles never hinted about the time I would
end up crumbled down on my bedroom s floor, with two years of a person s
presence surrounding a broken heart. Nobody will speak of watching your first love
leave for college, knowing that they will want to move on. I went through the
stages of heartbreak that left me with a cracked and bruised heart. The recovery
and journey of finding acceptance and love for myself, created a book of my
personal lessons. Going back to that summer is like reading the final book of your
favorite series, you soak in the words trying to read slow, savoring. Completing the
series leaves a bitter sweet moment, comparing to the emotions that overcame my
mind through the process of watching him go. However, it was not beautiful and
bittersweet as romance novels paint your first love out to be. Each page in our novel
transformed from love to a war zone, as loyalty became nonexistent, and trust only
present in waves. The summer was beautiful, but in my heart I knew that this novel
was only a fairy tale coming to it s end. There was nothing left to be painted. That hot

Comparison Of The Puritans
King Philip s war lead the Puritans into a horrifying situation with the Native
Americans. These Native Americans took lives of those of the Puritans by burning
down houses, taking them into captivity and separating them from their own family
and their own religion. Mrs. Mary Rowlandson was one of the Puritans that was taken
into captivity, and drug from her own family including her three children. The
Puritans have a culture unlike anyone else especially unlike the Native Americans, or
the Indians as Rowlandson would call them. Because of the drastic differences
between the Indians and the Puritans culture, it was hard for them to gain strength to
stay alive after the captivity. The Narrative of the captivity and restoration of Mrs.
Mary White Rowlandson tells today s readers about the Puritans culture, including
Christianity, strength, and family values. To begin with, Christianity plays a big role
in the Puritans life. Rowlandson would read the Bible and worship God everyday
no matter what she was doing or how bad she was feeling. When she got captured
by the Indians she had no one that was a Christian nearby, because of this she felt
alone. Rowlandson kept faith by her side through the whole journey and believed
God would help her through it, as she quoted, God was with me in a wonderful
manner, carrying me along, and bearing my spirit, that it did not quite fail.

Impact of culture on international marketing strategy
There is some distinct phenomenon that made the task of international marketing
different and complex. One of them is the impact of culture. Multinational
corporations always keep in mind its impact while formulating their marketing
strategy. Sometimes marketers have to alter a large extent of their marketing mixes
to incorporate the cultural influence (Czinkota and Ronkainen, 2012). That s why
Walmart has altered their product mixes slightly in the Muslim countries. Not all of
types of promotional strategies are suitable in every culture, marketers have to

Essay about SUMMERTIME AND SPRING RAIN
SUMMERTIME AND SPRING RAIN
Upon first sight, it appears that John Sloan s Spring Rain and Edward Hopper s
Summertime only common characteristic is that they are both oil paintings on
canvas. Spring Rain, from the school of Impressionistic art, was painted in 1912.
Summertime, which possesses a simplified, schematic style, was created over thirty
years later, in 1943. Therefore, there are extreme differences in the two artists
technique and style. However, despite these differences, the two painters works
embody the same theme: They are both scenes of urban realism characterized by
isolation and loneliness. John Sloan s painting depicts a dismal view of municipal
life. The painting s gloominess is achieved most effectively ... Show more content on

Pale yellow can be detected in the window shades, in the floor on the staircase and in
the woman s hat. In order to contrast the yellow, Hopper uses a very light, whitish
blue in the curtains and in the woman s dress. The fact that the woman s dress is
white, with a hint of blue, suggests that the woman is almost, but not quite pure.
Another compositional style that creates despondency in the paintings is Sloan and
Hopper s line usage. Hopper uses strong verticals, horizontals, and diagonals. These
lines form simple, large geometric forms. This preciseness gives the architecture a
sense of depth and perspective. There is also a stark play of light and shadow in the
architecture of the building. All of these elements make the building s architecture
extremely realistic.
In contrast, John Sloan heavily uses curvy, S shaped lines in Spring Rain, for
example, in the trees and in the shape of the woman s body. The path of the top lines
on the park benches gives the painting perspective, drawing the viewer s eye to the
background. The background of the painting uses the technique of pointillism, the
specific arrangement of paint splotches. This technique also helps to give the painting
texture in the tree branches and leaves.
Even though both painters use different line styles, both styles trigger similar
emotional effects in the viewer. For example, Sloan s contoured lines give the
painting a sense
Standardized Test Scores Of Racial Minority Students
I. Introduction
The achievement gap is evident in the standardized test scores of racial minority
students. When examining demographic information published by College Board
Inc. and ACT Inc., it is evident that there exists a widening gap between the scores of
African American adolescents on the SAT, or the Scholastic Aptitude Test, and the
ACT, or American College Test. Statistics from the 2013 SAT show African
American students earning scores of 431 in critical reading, 429 in mathematics,
and 418 in writing (College Board, 2013). On the ACT in the 2013 year, the average
composite score for African American test takers was 18.2. In comparison to their
racial and ethnic counterparts, African Americans scored lower in every subject area
than every other test taker. Frequently this gap in scores has been attributed to a
number of factors including a student s socioeconomic status, teacher qualifications,
and school s lack of access to academic resources. Instead, one should look to the
theory of stereotype threat. In summation, stereotype threat is being at risk of
confirming a negative stereotype threat about one s group (Steele Aronson, 1995).
One may question: To what extent does stereotype threat lead to African American
adolescents underperforming in academic settings? Stereotype threat negatively
affects African American students in that it produces self fulfilling prophecies
causing African American adolescents to underperform on college entrance exams.

Crucible Essay Example
Justice and The Crucible While justice is meant to be directed with upmost fairness
and equality, Arthur Miller s film The Crucible demonstrates that this does not always
succeed, and in many situations the forces of injustices are exposed. From different
points of views, justice can be formed or destroyed. In the film The Crucible, Arthur
Miller convinces his audience that reason, emotion, and character shows injustice
throughout the social hardship in a Puritan community. Justice is one of the main
themes that is shown throughout The Crucible. Justice is meant to be administrated

Abigail Williams is one of the characters who uses reasoning to get people put in
jail or put to death. The court uses inaccurate reasoning to kill people and to get
people sent to jail. The court also wants to see the reactions of the people. They
make a big deal of killing witches to make the people of the town feel more safe
and to help the people trust the court. In the end, it is just the opposite effect.
Emotion is how anyone reacts to a certain event or to what someone has to say. In
The Crucible, Miller shows emotion by the way he uses certain characters to over
exaggerate things to get the audience s attention in the court. By using emotion, he
shows that through different points of view, justice can be served or destroyed. In
the film, Miller uses Abigail Williams to show how using emotion can make
someone get what they want. Abigail over exaggerates things to get the audience

How Did Malcolm X Impact Society
Malcolm X was known as an activist representing African American rights who,
unlike Martin Luther King s nonviolent pursuit on black rights, challenged that fact.
He wanted other African Americans like himself to fight for their rights, no matter

Malcolm was the fourth of the eight children of Louise and Earl Little. He wed Betty
Shabazz in 1958 and had 6 children named Qubilah, Ilyasah, Attallah, Malikah,

their number of members from 500 to a whopping 30 000 over a period of 10
years. This made Malcolm a media magnet and was known across America. He
was featured on a T.V. specials for a week called The Hate That Hate Produced that
covered the Nation of Islam thoroughly. With this newfound fame came the
government surveillance, who would infiltrate the organization with cameras,
stunt men and many more to watch over the group. But at the peak of the Civil
Right Movement, Malcolm discovered that his mentor, Elijah Muhammad, had
relationships with other women and had secret children although considered a
living prophet and tried to silence Malcolm from revealing his secret. This made
Malcolm feel like he had brought many people to an organization of frauds. In
1964, Malcolm left the Nation of Islam because he couldn t move on after
Muhammad s fraud ways. He decided to create his own organization called the
Muslim Mosque Inc. A trip Malcolm took to a pilgrimage in Mecca altered
Malcolm s view and instead of speaking of only African American rights, he spoke
for all races. But the tension between Malcolm and the Nation of Islam and the
organization labelled Malcolm for assassination. Malcolm s life was constantly in
danger since he was constantly targeted and bombed, along with his family.
Unfortunately, the organization was successful as Malcolm Xwas assassinated by 3
gunmen during a speech in Manhattan s Audubon Ballroom on February 21,
Persian Greek Influence
Persian and Greek Influences and the Mauryan Empire The Persian and Greek
empires were some of the most impressive and influential forces of the ancient
world. With their conquests, they spread their ideas, money, political styles and
culture throughout the world. This was evident in northern India, in the Indus
River Valley and Kashmir regions. The influences of the Persians and Greeks
completely altered India s history and paved the way for the emergence of the
Mauryan Empire. The Persian empire conquered the Indus Valley and Kashmir in
513 B.C.E. and brought about great change for the Indian people. The Persians
developed roads in the region, linking India to the rest of their empire. This was
integral to trade and the further spreading of Persian ideas. To assist with trade, the
Persians brought their knowledge of coin minting and the use of money to India,
even expanding the use of this money beyond the borders of the Persian Empire into
other parts of India. During Persian rule, the Aramaic script was introduced to
northwestern India. The script was used for records and proclamations, and
eventually the sacred texts and epics of the Buddhist and Jain religions were
translated into Aramaic as well. One of the most... Show more content on

Alexander the Great conquered the Persian Empire. With the Greek conquest, came
an invasion of new ideas and culture, known as Hellenism, throughout the empire.
Greek art heavily influenced the Indian art world. Indian art began portraying

portrayed symbolically and not human before. The new art styles used the Greek
god Apollo as inspiration and featured substantial decoration, drapery and
headdresses which had not been seen before in Indian art. The Greek influence
heavily impacted Indian politics. Upon his return to Greece, Alexander left the

River Symbolism In Huckleberry Finn
The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth
and privilege (Charles Kuralt). This quote relates to The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn written by Mark Twain because, Huck Finn has a friend who goes with him on
his journey to the south. In a way his friend Jim becomes almost like family. They
have spent all of their time together and they have been through a lot to get to the
south and be free. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finnis a valuable novel and should
be included in high school curriculum because it teaches people through river
symbolism, the language used in the 1800s, and its historical significance. Freedom

When The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was originally published, people were not
much disturbed by Mark Twains use of n*gger, let alone injun, terms that have been
replaced by slave and Indian in the latest bowdlerization of the Adventures, this one
edited by an Auburn professor, Alan Gribbin, and released by NewSouth Books
(Huffington).
People in the 1800s didn t exactly realize that calling people a n***er wasn t the
most appropriate, but Twain included it because it teaches people that in the
1800s, people had different mindsets and it shows how language has evolved.
Accurately reflecting the everyday speech of people in the Mississippi valley in
the 1840s, the text of Huckleberry Finn includes more than 200 instances of
n*gger. But this probably doesn t say very much about the author himself
(Huffington). Twain is the kind of person who was through with his work. He is
constantly trying to show people that language in the 1800s is different from
anything else because back then they didn t understand many concepts of how to
talk to one another. Nowadays if people were to call each other n***er or anything
else there would be many conflicts. The so called N word wasn t always regarded
as being as odious, witness Carl Van Vechten s 1926 novel, Nigger Heaven, a
sympathetic portrait of life in Harlem (Huffington). In the 1800s people didn t
consider many things as wrong. Their style of language is very different
Nux Vomica Homeopathy
Nux Vomica Homeopathy Remedy for Headache
Homeopathy, the practice of medicine that embraces a holistic, natural approach to
the treatment of the sick (Chase, 2007 2016, para 1). Homeopathy treats the person
as a whole and all homeopathy remedies are from natural resources such as
vegetables, mineral or animals (Chase, 2007 2016). There are three basic principles
to Homeopathic medicine: Let Likes Cure Likes, The Minimum Dose and The
Single Remedy (Chase, 2007 2016). There are also two main categories to consider
in the treatment acute and chronic. In this paper the author will input a chronic
problem and will obtain a recommended remedy for the problem at
www.abchomeopathy.com. The author will then try the remedy for a few days and
will review its effectiveness. The author will also then research the remedy and
provide support for its effectiveness or non effectiveness.

Steel Barrio Summary
Michael Innis Jimenez s Steel Barrio examines the way Mexicans and Mexican
Americans lived in south Chicago during the 1920 s and onward. The book
provides a general idea on the lifestyle of people coming from Mexican descent;
from the struggle they tried to overcome, to the ideas they developed. It seems like
survival was a key part of the Mexican life during that time, especially being
surrounded by their white counterparts and hate. The appropriate word for their
survival in Chapter 6 of the book is resistance. After reading the chapter on
Resistance, it dawned upon myself that most Mexicans living in America were
prideful of where they came from even though Mexico was in poor economic shape
at the time. The main point in the book is to draw an overall picture of Mexican life
in south Chicago, but the main point in the chapter was to point out the will of the
Mexican to resist American assimilation also referred to as Americanization . A text
from the chapter that stuck with me the most was an Italian group discriminating
against Mexicans, not letting them rent their hall to Mexicans. In page 13, the
owners of the Italian hall get told that in Italy they wouldn t prejudice like that, the
Italians simply reply with No, but we are becoming Americanized . This stood out to
me the most because it gives an idea of what others thought it took to be an... Show

The textbook Crucible of Struggle has a darker theme to it, where it brings out darker
touching stories about the Mexican struggle and their oppression throughout history.
The resistance chapter in Steel Barrio scratches the surface at the struggle of
Mexicans being pushed to assimilation to live a better American life, and it explains
how they surmounted that hindrance. The Crucible of Struggle mentions Mexicans
migrating into the United States for more opportunity, but does not go into full detail
explaining their defiance against
WWII Veteran Research Paper
The veteran I selected to research for this paper is Carl D. Beck. He was born in
Avondale, Missouri on November 21, 1925. Mr. Beck served in the US army
during WWII and the Korean war, with the 501st parachute infantry regiment. It is
unclear what his rank was at the time of his service, but by the end of his military
career, Mr. Beck s rank was master Sergeant.
Prior to enlisting in the army, Mr. Beck worked with his father in a factory, and
also raised chickens and hogs on a farm. Beck joined the army at the age of 17, and
used his brother s birthdate in order to enlist, because he was not old enough. Mr.
Beck joined the army during the time of the great depression in the United States. His

The Germans who were occupying Pouppeville had not maintained the dams, and

other divisions to come onto the shore.
Unfortunately, Beck s mission did not go as planned. On the morning of june 6th,
1944, Beck was in one of nine airplanes carrying a total of one hundred and twenty
men. As his plane approached what is known as the Cherbourg Peninsula in
France, the began getting fired at by the Germans. The plane Beck was traveling
in was hit, along with several others, and he and the men in his plane were forced
to make emergency jumps. Unlike the many times he had practiced before, Beck
did not receive a twenty minute preparation time. He received only a bell, which
was an indication for him to get out of the plane as fasts possible. As a result Mr.
Beck ended up landing twelve miles from his designated drop zone. The other men
who jumped from the same plane as Carl were also scattered.
The oral history of the events of the Normandy invasion and the secondary sources

those who were there, as well as facts obtained. Both allow the individual

Abstract
The objective was to determine the value of Planck s constant using LED s. The
value of Planck s constant found in this experiment was 5.93x10 34Js, This is
fairy close in comparison to the accepted value being 6.626x10 34Js. The Value of
Planck s constant was found with the use of LED s, the provided wavelength was
used to calculate the frequency, then the experiment allowed us to find the LED s

the electrons crossing the junction are excited and return to their stable state, usually
the ground state. When returning to the ground state or a lower state from which
they were in, the electron emits light energy which is a high energy photon. The
energy of the photon depends on how many energy states the electron drops. This
particular voltage when the LED just starts to emit light is known as the threshold
voltage. Once the threshold voltage is reached the current may increase but the
voltage across the LED doesn t change significantly.
The energy of the photon emitted can be calculated using the equation
E = hf where h = the Planck s constant f = the frequency of light
From the equation it can be said that the energy emitted has a relationship with planck
s constant and the frequency of emitted radiation.
We can use this equation to work out planck s constant by combining it with another
equation. This equation is
E = QV where Q = the charge (1.6x10 19)
V = threshold voltage
hf=QV
If you plot a graph of voltage against frequency, find the gradient and multiply it by
the charge of an electron (1.6x10 19), you find the value of Planck s constant.

Differential Association Theory In Polyamorous
Relationships
Differential association theory can help to explain how people in polyamorous
relationships engage in their deviant paper, without thinking about how they got to
that level of deviance (Tittle, Burke, Jackson, 1986). Most of the individuals
involved in polyamory do not think about their deviant career and how they came
to deviate so thoroughly from society unless asked about it. They do not view
themselves as negatively deviant, which is how people most often think about
deviance, so they do not view anything that they have done in their lives as wrong.
The way that individuals in polyamorous relationships are labeled also can impact
how they react to society and the labels that they are given (Davis, 1972). Polyamory
is a form of relationship
Modernisation Of The United States
Modernisation, on the other hand, is a conceptual framework that articulated a
common set of assumptions about the nature of American society and its ability to
transform a world perceived as both materially and culturally deficient (Latham,
2000). Specifically, modernisation theorists posited a sharp distinction between
traditional and modern societies. They took for granted that economic development,
from traditional to modern, proceeded along a single straight, unambiguous line.
Finally, modernisation advocates expected that contact with vital modern societies
would accelerate progress in stagnant traditional societies.
The prevailing view of modernisation was that for poor countries to achieve capital
formation, productivity and consumption, comparable to those in developed
countries, it was necessary to duplicate the cultural institutions of the latter.
Ethnocentric growth and development theories and the establishment of a number of
global development institutions such as the World Bank and International Monetary
Fund propelled one another as part of the Cold War.
One of the more strongly argued positions that poor nations must emulate rich
nations, was that of Rostow (1960), who later argued vociferously for intervention in
Vietnam. The general proposition taken by Rostow, and others, was that in order to
produce and consume like the wealthy, one had to change traditional cultural
attributes and proceed in orderly fashion to achieve a take off into sustained

transport and routing of data over network. The transport layer security protocol
evolved from SSL and has largely superseded it. The term Secure Socket Layer and

The Three-Offensive Boxing Styles
The Three Offensive Boxing Styles:
Many of us are familiar with boxing. Some people may hate it, while others may
love it. Regardless of what your prospective is of this particular sport, a large
majority of people have been influenced by it in one way or another if you have
ever been a witness or involved in a simple fisticuffs. So, with that said, this essay is

Pure Boxer / Counterpuncher: These fighters embody the whole sweet science of

themselves and their opponents, and they pick their spots to attack with precision.
They may lack punching power although this may not always be the case, or in some
Yu Ebao s Advantages Of Users
Yu EBao s advantages to users:
1.High profitability and high liquidity
Compared with traditional financial products, Yu EBao has a higher interest rate than

users a good performance with high profitability and high liquidity. The interest rate
of Yu EBao generally fluctuates between 4% to 7% since its launchпјЊmuch higher
than current deposit interest rate of 0.35% , even the fixed term interest rate of
3.25% (one year), which obviously is very attractive to investors. On the other hand,
it usually takes about two days to redeem money from other kinds of investment

It dramatically increases investment efficiency and cuts down the investment costs
for customers.
3. No restrictions on minimum purchase amount
The principle of no restrictions on minimum purchase amount adopted by Yu EBao
contributes to the concentration of more fragmented and idle money in society,
enhances the utilization of social capital, at the same time provides clients a more
convenient banking services. On the other hand, this covenant lite investment is also
beneficial to enlighten customers who have never been involved in financial services
with basic finance and investment ideas, which is playing an important role in
establishing a correct and acute sense for investment and financing in the whole
society.
Yu EBao s advantages to financial market:
Firstly, the most significant advantage of Internet finance product is to promote
interest rate liberation. Previously, China s financial activities are highly controlled
by government. However, with the further development of market economy, China is
regularly deregulating the financial market. Interest rate liberation in financial market
is the key step in the process of transformation to full market economy. Interest rate
liberation means that according to the supply and demand of fund, its price is decided
by financial market subjects including financial institutions, enterprises and
inhabitants. If interest rateпјЊespecially the deposit interest rate is only determined

And Gendered Politics
SNL and Gendered Politics
Here you have this serious presidential campaign, and all of us had to go on these
comedy shows like Saturday Night Live, because that was the only way we could
have more than a soundbite and reach a large audience, Ralph Nader said in an
interview regarding his 2000 bid for president. A 2004 study done by Pew research
found that 20% of Americans between the ages of 18 to 24 regularly get their news
from late night television shows, like Saturday Night Live. With satirical outlets as a
legitimate and consistent source of information, their representation of politicians
becomes a crucial part of how that politician is perceived by the general electorate.
Political satire is certainly not a new concept, but its emergence as a viable news
source has come as a result of our polarized political climate, and intertwinement of
news with the entertainment industry. According to a poll conducted by Gallup in
September of 2016, only 32% of Americans had a great deal, or fair amount, of trust
that mass media would report news fully, accurately, and fairly, an all time low.
Traditional media outlets are disliked and distrusted, and satirical presentations like
Saturday Night Live (SNL) have never been more popular, especially amongst
young voters. For Americans under 30, these shows are now mentioned almost as
frequently as newspapers and evening network news shows as regular sources for
election news. (Pew, 2004)

Accounting Regulatory Agencies
ACCOUNTING REGULATORY AGENCIES
Introduction
Accounting standards are needed so that financial statements will fairly and
consistently describe financial performance. Without standards, users of financial
statements would need to learn the accounting rules of each company, and
comparisons between companies would be difficult. Numerous accounting bodies
govern the accounting environment and accommodate the success of a business. The
four main financial governing bodies include the following: Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Governmental
Accounting Standards Board (GASB) International Accounting Standards Board
(IASB) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the GASB has jurisdiction over financial reporting by governmental entities,
the FASB establishes rules for private sector accounting. Both boards are
independent, nongovernmental bodies whose members are appointed by the
trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF). Before issuing its
standards, the GASB follows the set of due process activities enumerated in its
published rules of procedure. Due process is stringent and is designed to permit a
thorough and open study of financial accounting and reporting issues by the
preparers, auditors, and users of financial reports, in order to encourage broad
public participation in the standards setting process. Significant steps in the process
are announced publicly. The GASB s meetings are open to public observation and a
public record is maintained. One difference between the two organizations is that
the rules of the GASB need not apply to that of FASB. If the GASB had not covered
an accounting topic that the FASB had, then the FASB standards would be used by
the government entities. This sets up kind of like a default so that there are not so
many different rules and possibly double standards. The GASB and the FASB both
have the authority to create rules, with the GASB having the ability
Why Did Icarus Lose His Son

s words and actions can ruin their character. Daedalus actions, words, and

his son go first, he went causing his son to get left behind. Since he put his life and
ego before his child, he no longer has a son. Pride is like a knife it can cut you deep

Essay on Carson McCullers
Carson McCullers
Walter Allen said of Carson McCullers; ``Faulkner apart, the most remarkable
novelist the South has produced seems to me Carson McCullers (Allen 208). Her
work is marked with the feeling of loneliness coming from her lonely childhood

She is ``able to persuade us that contemporary reality and legendary story are one
(Graver 209). The worlds she created are imaginary but in their ``depth and variety
can look like the reality (Allen 208).
A lot of critics speak about the poetic aspect of her work and think that ``With her,
the Southern tradition of the Gothic novel is refined into a poetic sensibility which
has not escaped either imitation or misuse (Hassan 506). Even if her novels are all
in prose and ``not in any obvious sense poetic (Allen 208), ``from its first
appearance, critics have recognized the Lyricism of the McCullers narrative style,
which can render even sordid subject matter in poetic terms (Griffith 209). This
come from her first vocation which was music. One can find this constant presence
of music in her novels: ballad and Negro song. This is a part of the spirit of the deep
South she described in her work.
As she was born in Georgia and most of her novels take place in the South, she is
always connected with this region. Some people called her work gothic because of
her characters who all have a physical or psychological deficiency. Gothic is a style
of writing that grew in the south with authors as William Faulkner, Earnest
Hemingway, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. She is very often associated with all these well
known writers. ``With a touch reminiscent of Faulkner but peculiarly her own style
(Feld 2373).
Application Of An Electrical Circuit
Introduction: An electrical circuit is defined by the ability to allow the flow of
electrons in a complete loop between two points of potential difference. This
potential difference (that being two terminals of high and low electric potential) is
provided by a battery. Metals of varying electrode potentials can be used in
conjunction with an intermediary such as a potato to provide a circuit with an
electrochemical cell. The difference in potentials between zinc and copper electrodes
(for example) facilitate the movement of electrons through redox reactions. Potential
difference can be described as the work done by an electronas it passes through a
component resulting in a loss of potential energy.( Aqa as physics pg 48) A potential
difference in charge between two points within an electric field is quantified as
voltage. Over the course of one second, one voltwill provide enough force for one
coulomb of charge carriers to pass through a resistance of one ohm. The volt and
potential difference are the same unit in actuality. Even without the movement of
charge carriers an electrostatic field will be produced when there is a voltage. These
fields become stronger if the voltage increases with no change to separation distance.
Conversely an increase in distance between the points will result in the diminishing of
the electrostatic flux density. http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/voltage Current
can be defined as the rate of flow of positively charged particles

An Essay On Technology

  • 1. An Essay On Technology Writing an essay on the topic of technology can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty arises from the vastness and ever-evolving nature of the subject. Technology encompasses a wide range of aspects, from the historical development of tools to the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. Navigating through this expansive landscape requires careful research, critical thinking, and the ability to synthesize information coherently. One of the challenges lies in keeping up with the rapid pace of technological advancements. What may be cutting-edge today might become obsolete tomorrow. This dynamic nature necessitates constant updates and a thorough understanding of the current state of technology. Additionally, striking a balance between technical details and general accessibility for a diverse audience can be daunting. Another aspect that adds to the complexity is the ethical dimension of technology. As technology becomes deeply integrated into our lives, addressing ethical concerns related to privacy, surveillance, and the impact on society becomes crucial. Crafting an essay that delves into these ethical considerations requires a nuanced approach, considering diverse perspectives and potential consequences. Moreover, the challenge extends to presenting a well-structured argument. The essay should have a clear introduction, a well-developed body with coherent paragraphs, and a strong conclusion that ties everything together. The task involves not just providing information but also convincing the reader of the essay's thesis. Despite these challenges, writing an essay on technology can be immensely rewarding. It allows the writer to explore the fascinating world of innovation, scientific discoveries, and societal transformations driven by technology. It provides an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about the role of technology in shaping our present and future. In conclusion, while writing an essay on technology poses several difficulties, overcoming these challenges can lead to a thoughtful and insightful piece. It is an opportunity to engage with a topic that influences every aspect of our lives. So, whether exploring the historical roots or contemplating the ethical implications, the process of crafting an essay on technology can be intellectually stimulating and gratifying. • 3. Differing Opinions in 2 Articles on Tragic Death of... ARTICLE COMPARISON In February of 2014, Australian television personality, Charlotte Dawson committed suicide and the story was explored in media. Amy Harris presented the Tragic End to TV Beauty s Life of Drama , published by The Advertiser on the 23/2/14 and Charlotte Dawson: We Miss Her Terribly was written online for the Otago Daily Times, with an unpublished author name, on the 25/2/14. The Advertiser displayed an informative text compared to the Otago Daily Times article which was seen as a persuasive piece. Amy Harris presented specific background information on Dawson s life prior to her suicide as she was not well known in Adelaide, and the highs and lows segment was also informative, providing succinct details on her life experiences. The Advertiser and the Otago Times Daily are written within somewhat different contexts. With celebrity culture having a large importance within our society, knowing that Dawson was only known in some world regions, Amy Harris assumed the target audience to be uneducated of Dawson s life experiences. In The Advertiser life experiences were presented sporadically throughout describing her battling depression , living a life full of contradictions and becoming an anti bullying advocate . In comparison, the Otago Daily Times gave little to no background knowledge to readers as she was brought up in New Zealand and her story is already in context. Also in recent years, celebrity suicide has not been uncommon. According to the website NWO Insider , the celebrities, Lee Thomson Young (September 2013), Corey Monteith (July 2013), Mindy McCready (February 2013), Mark Balelo (February 2013) and Gia Allemand (August 2013) all committed suicide in the last year highlighting the prevalence of suicide and how common it is in current society and therefore it is not unusual for this to occur. Mental health is also described within context in both articles. The Advertiser comments on Dawson being in a very bad shape emotionally as

Cell phones should not be allowed to be out during school hours but should not be completely banned from the school campus. They are used as status symbols, a way to measure self worth and make us lose touch with reality. Although phones help with the learning process they are used a social status. Most kids have cell phones, and for those of which don t, the ones who do share. They can be used to record group discussions and it gives us a chance to be more independent(Doc #3). • 6. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Calcium Phosphate Tablets Calcium Phosphate Ceramics (CPC) Calcium phosphate ceramics are a type of ceramics with varying calcium to phosphate ratio, the important properties of calcium phosphate biomaterials are their bioresorption and bioactivity. The most widely used calcium phosphate based bioceramics are hydroxyapatite (HAP) and ОІ tricalcium phosphate (ОІ TCP). Synthetic Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a calcium phosphate whose stoichiometric formula corresponds to Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 with calcium to phosphate ratio is 1.67, it is the most stable phase of various calcium phosphates. It is stable in body fluid and in dry or moist air up to 1200В°C and does not decompose and has shown to be bioactive due to its resorbable nature. It is similar to bone mineral and is widely used as a filler, spacer and bone graft substitute. Synthetic Hydroxyapatite can be prepared in either dense or macroporous forms. Porous HA is osteoconductive (The phenomenon of new bone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A disadvantage of bioactive glasses is that theygenerally possess low fracture toughness values and hence poor mechanical strength, especially in porous form. This leads to limited applications in load bearing situations. An early significant modification of the heat treatment to form crystalline particles in a bioactive glass matrix led to the development of apatite/wollastonite (A/W), Ceravital and Bioverit glass ceramics, all of which come under class A bioactive materials. The A/W glass ceramic is produced by partially crystallising the glass matrix that occurs after prolonged heating of the bioactive glass, to promote nucleation of crystallisation. A /W glass ceramics show higher bending strength than bioactive glasses due to the assembly of apatite phases reinforced by Гџ wolastonite (CaSiO3), which is believed to be the reason for the increased fracture toughness that makes it a better match to bone for load bearing
  • 7. How Are Breadheads Perceived By Mainstream Society 1.How are Dreadheads perceived by mainstream society, and additionally, how do Dreadheads perceive mainstream society? пѓ Dreadheads are perceived by the mainstream society as this counter culture group who goes against societal norms as a way to differentiate themselves from Joe public. Furthermore, this form of rebellion against society s expectations opens the door for personal attacks against their character. пѓ Dreadheads perceive mainstream society in a negative fashion since they feel that they as an entire group are being unfairly judged upon based on their beliefs and appearance. One of the values/beliefs in the Dreadhead culture is the idea of having an open mind and not prejudging individuals based on their appearance which relates to the idea of the idea culture. A connection that Dreadheads make that reinforces and strengthens their values is the music that they head as it allows them to have a medium to express themselves in an unconventional manner. 3. From the film, what are examples of ideal versus real culture in practice? пѓ An example can be the contemporary society that we live in. In an ideal culture, we as individuals preach the idea of freedom in terms of being living the style that best suites you. In theory, society (especially in a democracy) would treat all individuals fairly without prejudging their choices in life. The real culture, however, revolves around society s expectations to adapt to the social norms that have been established by the mainstream culture. 4. What does the filmmaker feel about Dreadhead
  • 8. Reflection On Hayley Griswold This is Hayley Griswold from your HRSM 4610 online class. I would very much appreciate your input concerning a matter pertaining to my grade for the project. I reviewed your comments and I wanted to point out of few things about the deductions I recieved. The first thing I read in the comment box was that my paper was two days late. From my understanding, I thought the paper was due on Sunday the 19th. I was out of town that day and got back later than originally planned so I did not get a chance to turn it in the night of the 19th. For that reason, I turned it in on Monday the 20th around 9 pm. Another thing I noticed that points were taken off for was the whole 20 points for the training objectives. I was not sure whether you wanted them
  • 9. Pan s Labyrinth The founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, developed a wide variety of psychoanalytic theories that are often used to analyze a diverse body of literary and artistic works. An example being, the Family Romance theory. It is an abnormal state of mind a child enters during the pre pubescent stage. It consists of the child fantasizing that they are not the biological son or daughter of their parents. This occurs when a parent fails to reciprocate affection to their child; consequently, urging them to seek retaliation through imaginary means. The Family Romance theory explains the cultural phenomenon behind children detaching themselves from their parents in order to gain independence. It is a psychological concept featured within the family dynamic of Guillermo del Toro s 2006 film Pan s Labyrinth . Pan s Labyrinth depicts the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War through the eyes of Ophelia, an innocent child, and the magical realm she comes across in the woods. However, Carmen s neglectfulness, similarly to the child in Freud Family Romances, has caused Ofelia to criticize her mother for disregarding her. As a result, Ofelia decides to detach herself from her mother. It is a task that each adolescent must do in order to become an independent being. The fantasies and magical beings Ofelia created allowed her to mature into an adult. In doing so, Ofelia is also able to save the life of her younger brother after being relinquished from her mother s parental rule. Ofelia is able to become her own person because of the many circumstances she was involved in throughout the film. Had Ofelia not been neglected by her mother throughout the course of her pregnancy, Ofelia would not have achieved independence as well as
  • 10. What Type of Ipo Should Avaya Use Course Number: FIN501 Module 1 Case Assignment Introduction Upon deciding to go public, a company looks into preparing an initial public offering (IPO). There are two IPOs with which a company can utilize: a traditional IPO or the relatively new Auction based IPO that was made popular by Google. Avaya is currently planning for IPO. Avaya is a global leader in business communications systems. The company provides unified communications, contact centers, data solutions and related services directly and through its channel partners to leading businesses and organizations around the world (Avaya.com, 2011). Avaya s current plan of an IPO valued at approximately $1 billion (Klassen, 2011) needs to consider whether to go with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once this process has finished, the investment bank is paid a percentage of the sale as commission as well as fees for the underwriting process. Due to the discount of the IPO from the estimate of the market value, traditional IPOs normally trade much higher than the initial price (Clinton, 2011). Being a long used and well known process, traditional IPOs allow for more choices of underwriters. Using an investment bank with experience in traditional IPOs allows for the road show to give the high profile investors a greater idea of the value of the company, and since the allocation of shares is done during this process they can avoid over valuing the company. Nayantara Hensel writes that underwriters who do less than three IPOs a year will average a first day price increase of 10%. On the other hand Hensel also tells us that the average first day price increase for all traditional IPOs is 38%, meaning a loss in the potential capitol for the company. The investment bank underwriting for a traditional IPO normally gets a 7% underwriting fee of the amount earned or more, bringing the potential money lost to 45 50%. Auction Based IPO An auction based IPO uses the Internet to open a company s IPO stock for purchase to more potential investors. This process allows a company to spend less on their underwrite fees. The company
  • 11. The Goals And Philosophy Of Art Goals and Philosophy: Visual Merchandisers have many employment options available in many different sectors. I believe that displays are all encompassing. It is the little details that culminate a theme or feel that makes customers want to shop at a particular store and have a certain type of experience depending on who they are. It is all about making an environment whether a store, a party, a home, etc. as inviting and welcoming as possible. I strongly believe that there is so much inspiration out there that can be used to create compelling store displays that provoke consumers to shop and help maximize a store s profits. This is an interesting field where not only are artistic skills necessary, but also the ability to merchandise the sales floor and make every visual aspect of a store experience enjoyable. My art is inspired by popular culture, the work of other artists in similar fields, and the work of surrealist artists. The prospect of being able to have a job that comprises of creativity and a unique perspective motivates me to pursue a career in art and design. I want to be able to have a job that I feel is rewarding and where each day is somewhat different from the next which is possible with visual merchandising because retail is always changing visually to keep up with trends and seasons. In the short term I hope to get a visual merchandising internship or job where I can get more experience and use my skills that I have learned, in the retail environment. In
  • 12. Jonathan Edward Puritan Sermons Analysis Jonathan Edwards was the most prominent and powerful of all the Puritan leaders, he was the heir of four generations of Puritan ministers; he came into power when Puritanism was on the decline. The notoriety of the Salem witchcraft trials, killed many people and send many more to prison, which embittered the community s next generation, the tragic occurrence which showed the prodigality of foolish Puritan eagerness; Edwards wanted to change the disturbing secularism and the divine weariness by holding a revival movement to correct all things, it was called the Great Awakening. Edwards, was against the introduction of the Half Way Covenant, which influence and brought a sense of factual and divine comfort to the New Englander s, he believed the Half Way Covenant wasn t fair because the Half Way Covenant only extended affiliation to the third generation of those who acknowledged realistic faith. Whereas a complete church affiliation was the source of pride only to those and the children of those who could attest to the individual practice of change. The revival movement moved many to strengthen their religious solemnity, throughout New England. • 13. Psychological Criticism In A Rose For Emily By William... A Rose for Emily , by William Faulkner, focuses on many different literary criticisms. A psychological criticism expresses literature through personality, state of mind, feelings, and emotions. The psychological approach is a unique form of criticism in that it draws upon psychological theories in its interpretation of a text (George). In this story psychological criticism is shown greatly through Emily, the main character of the book. Do you know why Emily acts and behaves the way that she does? Emily is in a denial, and the situation is making her delusional. Emily behaves the way she does for numerous reasons. She is born into an aristocratic family. Emily is brought up as a Southern belle by her father and is placed on a pedestal by the townspeople. The Grierson s are known in town for being extremely wealthy and having the nicest house in Jefferson, Yoknapatawpha County. Due to the fact that her father, Mr. Grierson, keeps her isolated and socially restricted as a child, she behaves abnormally. Emily feels as if she is pressured to live up to her father s expectations. Because Emily is kept away from everything, she is not yet exposed to the real world. Everybody in town feels sorry for Emily when her father passes away. When Emily decides to isolate herself, the town automatically assumes that she is up to something without giving her a chance. Throughout the entire story, the townspeople are whispering and repeatedly saying Poor Emily . They label her as crazy as soon as they feel she was acting abnormal. Every action that is taken by Emily creates a reaction from the townspeople. So, the next day we all said, she will kill herself , and we said it would be the best thing (Faulkner 85). The town gives off the impression that they despise Miss Emily, they lead the readers to believe that Emily is doing some type of harm to the community. Mr. Grierson supports the town financially and physically. When the mayor exempts her from paying taxes it starts a conflict between Emily and the town of Jefferson. Since Emily has special privileges, the townspeople are now unsatisfied. Jealousy and hatred plays a major role in why the town feels and acts the way they do towards Emily. The whereabouts of

The plates beneath our feet mold the world we live in. While very slowly, the plates are indeed moving. There are a few variations to the plates; they have different directions in which they move in relation to separate plates. These changes in plate movement have different side effects, from ocean trenches to miles of mountain ranges. In 1912, a german climatologist, Alfred Wegener proposed that the continents were once joined and made one land mass. He named this super continent Pangaea. He had a lot of evidence to prove that they were once together, but he was missing one key section of information,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each plate is moving a certain direction due to the convection from the Asthenosphere. The meeting of two plates is called a boundary, there are three types of boundaries in the world: Convergent Boundaries, Divergent Boundaries. And Transform Boundaries. In the case of Convergent Boundaries, two plates are pushing against each other, which can create Deep Ocean Trenches, Huge Mountains, and/or Volcanic Mountain chains. An example of this happening is the Mariana Trench, During Convergence, the denser crust, oceanic crust, is subducted below the less dense crust. If the crusts have the same density then the plates are pushed upwards. At Divergent Boundaries, the plates are moving away from each other, this can create Mid Ocean Ridges and Rift Valleys. An example of this happening is the Mid Atlantic Ridge. At the final boundary, Transform Boundaries, the plates slide the past one another in the opposite direction, causing shallow earthquakes and offset features. An example of this Boundary is The San Andreas Fault. While the crust moves, there are places called Hot spots in which a hot portion of the mantle rises up beneath the crust for millions of years. An example of this is the Hawaii Island

Mark Twain In his beginning, man was part of nature. He knew little about the causes of natural phenomenon and certainly knew of no way to control them. This is perhaps the reason for his creation of ritual and later religion. As man evolved he began to consider the possibilities of gaining some type of control over his environment. If nature was simply a random set of events ruled only by chaos than this wouldn t be possible. Later her sexual reproduction with Uranus produced numerous offspring. While the use of sexual reproduction was human like (obviously not exclusive to humans but still human like), the use of alternative reproduction was represented in the myths. An example of such an alternative would be the conception of the Giants and Erinyes by Gaea when the blood of Uranus fell onto her. While the Greeks seem to have known that human reproduction was related to the sperm entering the woman, they also seem to think the Gods had ways to bypass this requirement. Going along with this observation of sperm into woman, they Greeks recognized the woman as the vessel in which life developed, whether she attributed to this life s origination is another question. However there are some exceptions to this such as when Zeus eats his pregnant wife, thus becoming the

In this case that place was Germany. Wordsworth also does this in order to connect to the audience on a deeper level of thought. For those who have been through a similar situation as Wordsworth, they would feel the presence of walking among unknown Men more noticeably than others. This stanza ties in with the following stanza, Nor, England! did I know till then what love I bore to thee (lines 3 4), to make the primary message of his poem clear: Wordsworth, during his time in Germany, is realizing how much he loves England. Because he has stayed away from England for a long period of time he begins to realize how much he loves it. Wordsworth loves it so much so that he states that, once he returns to England, he will never leave England again (line 6). The reasoning, however, is not because he despises Germany or loves the country of England in its entirety. Rather, it is because of the unknown figure of Lucy who is also a separate focus in this poem. Wordsworth makes the connection between Lucy and England by expressing how his feelings of joy and desire of England came from her presence. She is introduced into the poem at line 11 and 12 in which she turned her wheel beside and English Fire and is confirmed to be Lucy at lines 15 and 16 in which she saw a green field

These Native Americans took lives of those of the Puritans by burning down houses, taking them into captivity and separating them from their own family and their own religion. Mrs. Mary Rowlandson was one of the Puritans that was taken into captivity, and drug from her own family including her three children. The Puritans have a culture unlike anyone else especially unlike the Native Americans, or the Indians as Rowlandson would call them. Because of the drastic differences between the Indians and the Puritans culture, it was hard for them to gain strength to stay alive after the captivity. The Narrative of the captivity and restoration of Mrs. Mary White Rowlandson tells today s readers about the Puritans culture, including Christianity, strength, and family values. To begin with, Christianity plays a big role in the Puritans life. Rowlandson would read the Bible and worship God everyday no matter what she was doing or how bad she was feeling. When she got captured by the Indians she had no one that was a Christian nearby, because of this she felt alone. Rowlandson kept faith by her side through the whole journey and believed God would help her through it, as she quoted, God was with me in a wonderful manner, carrying me along, and bearing my spirit, that it did not quite fail. (Rowlandson) The Puritans didn t know any better than to stereotype the Indians as

  • 34. Essay about SUMMERTIME AND SPRING RAIN SUMMERTIME AND SPRING RAIN Upon first sight, it appears that John Sloan s Spring Rain and Edward Hopper s Summertime only common characteristic is that they are both oil paintings on canvas. Spring Rain, from the school of Impressionistic art, was painted in 1912. Summertime, which possesses a simplified, schematic style, was created over thirty years later, in 1943. Therefore, there are extreme differences in the two artists technique and style. However, despite these differences, the two painters works embody the same theme: They are both scenes of urban realism characterized by isolation and loneliness. John Sloan s painting depicts a dismal view of municipal life. The painting s gloominess is achieved most effectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pale yellow can be detected in the window shades, in the floor on the staircase and in the woman s hat. In order to contrast the yellow, Hopper uses a very light, whitish blue in the curtains and in the woman s dress. The fact that the woman s dress is white, with a hint of blue, suggests that the woman is almost, but not quite pure. Another compositional style that creates despondency in the paintings is Sloan and Hopper s line usage. Hopper uses strong verticals, horizontals, and diagonals. These lines form simple, large geometric forms. This preciseness gives the architecture a sense of depth and perspective. There is also a stark play of light and shadow in the architecture of the building. All of these elements make the building s architecture extremely realistic. In contrast, John Sloan heavily uses curvy, S shaped lines in Spring Rain, for example, in the trees and in the shape of the woman s body. The path of the top lines on the park benches gives the painting perspective, drawing the viewer s eye to the background. The background of the painting uses the technique of pointillism, the specific arrangement of paint splotches. This technique also helps to give the painting texture in the tree branches and leaves. Even though both painters use different line styles, both styles trigger similar emotional effects in the viewer. For example, Sloan s contoured lines give the painting a sense

When examining demographic information published by College Board Inc. and ACT Inc., it is evident that there exists a widening gap between the scores of African American adolescents on the SAT, or the Scholastic Aptitude Test, and the ACT, or American College Test. Statistics from the 2013 SAT show African American students earning scores of 431 in critical reading, 429 in mathematics, and 418 in writing (College Board, 2013). On the ACT in the 2013 year, the average composite score for African American test takers was 18.2. In comparison to their racial and ethnic counterparts, African Americans scored lower in every subject area than every other test taker. Frequently this gap in scores has been attributed to a number of factors including a student s socioeconomic status, teacher qualifications, and school s lack of access to academic resources. Instead, one should look to the theory of stereotype threat. In summation, stereotype threat is being at risk of confirming a negative stereotype threat about one s group (Steele Aronson, 1995). One may question: To what extent does stereotype threat lead to African American adolescents underperforming in academic settings? Stereotype threat negatively affects African American students in that it produces self fulfilling prophecies causing African American adolescents to underperform on college entrance exams. II.

This made Malcolm a media magnet and was known across America. He was featured on a T.V. specials for a week called The Hate That Hate Produced that covered the Nation of Islam thoroughly. With this newfound fame came the government surveillance, who would infiltrate the organization with cameras, stunt men and many more to watch over the group. But at the peak of the Civil Right Movement, Malcolm discovered that his mentor, Elijah Muhammad, had relationships with other women and had secret children although considered a living prophet and tried to silence Malcolm from revealing his secret. With their conquests, they spread their ideas, money, political styles and culture throughout the world. This was evident in northern India, in the Indus River Valley and Kashmir regions. The influences of the Persians and Greeks completely altered India s history and paved the way for the emergence of the Mauryan Empire. The Persian empire conquered the Indus Valley and Kashmir in 513 B.C.E. and brought about great change for the Indian people. The Persians developed roads in the region, linking India to the rest of their empire. This was integral to trade and the further spreading of Persian ideas. To assist with trade, the Persians brought their knowledge of coin minting and the use of money to India, even expanding the use of this money beyond the borders of the Persian Empire into other parts of India. People in the 1800s didn t exactly realize that calling people a n***er wasn t the most appropriate, but Twain included it because it teaches people that in the 1800s, people had different mindsets and it shows how language has evolved. Accurately reflecting the everyday speech of people in the Mississippi valley in the 1840s, the text of Huckleberry Finn includes more than 200 instances of n*gger. Nowadays if people were to call each other n***er or anything else there would be many conflicts. It seems like survival was a key part of the Mexican life during that time, especially being surrounded by their white counterparts and hate. The appropriate word for their survival in Chapter 6 of the book is resistance. When returning to the ground state or a lower state from which they were in, the electron emits light energy which is a high energy photon. The energy of the photon depends on how many energy states the electron drops. This particular voltage when the LED just starts to emit light is known as the threshold voltage. Once the threshold voltage is reached the current may increase but the voltage across the LED doesn t change significantly. The energy of the photon emitted can be calculated using the equation E = hf where h = the Planck s constant f = the frequency of light From the equation it can be said that the energy emitted has a relationship with planck s constant and the frequency of emitted radiation. We can use this equation to work out planck s constant by combining it with another equation. This equation is E = QV where Q = the charge (1.6x10 19) V = threshold voltage hf=QV If you plot a graph of voltage against frequency, find the gradient and multiply it by the charge of an electron (1.6x10 19), you find the value of Planck s constant. Modernisation Of The United States Modernisation, on the other hand, is a conceptual framework that articulated a common set of assumptions about the nature of American society and its ability to transform a world perceived as both materially and culturally deficient (Latham, 2000). Specifically, modernisation theorists posited a sharp distinction between traditional and modern societies. They took for granted that economic development, from traditional to modern, proceeded along a single straight, unambiguous line. Finally, modernisation advocates expected that contact with vital modern societies would accelerate progress in stagnant traditional societies. The prevailing view of modernisation was that for poor countries to achieve capital formation, productivity and consumption, comparable to those in developed countries, it was necessary to duplicate the cultural institutions of the latter. Ethnocentric growth and development theories and the establishment of a number of global development institutions such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund propelled one another as part of the Cold War. One of the more strongly argued positions that poor nations must emulate rich nations, was that of Rostow (1960), who later argued vociferously for intervention in Vietnam. The general proposition taken by Rostow, and others, was that in order to produce and consume like the wealthy, one had to change traditional cultural attributes and proceed in orderly fashion to achieve a take off into sustained

Political satire is certainly not a new concept, but its emergence as a viable news source has come as a result of our polarized political climate, and intertwinement of news with the entertainment industry. According to a poll conducted by Gallup in September of 2016, only 32% of Americans had a great deal, or fair amount, of trust that mass media would report news fully, accurately, and fairly, an all time low. Traditional media outlets are disliked and distrusted, and satirical presentations like Saturday Night Live (SNL) have never been more popular, especially amongst young voters. For Americans under 30, these shows are now mentioned almost as frequently as newspapers and evening network news shows as regular sources for election news. (Pew, 2004) Political satire is a vehicle

Accounting Regulatory Agencies ACCOUNTING REGULATORY AGENCIES Introduction Accounting standards are needed so that financial statements will fairly and consistently describe financial performance. Without standards, users of financial statements would need to learn the accounting rules of each company, and comparisons between companies would be difficult. Numerous accounting bodies govern the accounting environment and accommodate the success of a business. The four main financial governing bodies include the following: Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the GASB has jurisdiction over financial reporting by governmental entities, the FASB establishes rules for private sector accounting. Both boards are independent, nongovernmental bodies whose members are appointed by the trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF). Before issuing its standards, the GASB follows the set of due process activities enumerated in its published rules of procedure. Due process is stringent and is designed to permit a thorough and open study of financial accounting and reporting issues by the preparers, auditors, and users of financial reports, in order to encourage broad public participation in the standards setting process. Significant steps in the process are announced publicly. The GASB s meetings are open to public observation and a public record is maintained. One difference between the two organizations is that the rules of the GASB need not apply to that of FASB. If the GASB had not covered an accounting topic that the FASB had, then the FASB standards would be used by the government entities. This sets up kind of like a default so that there are not so many different rules and possibly double standards. The GASB and the FASB both have the authority to create rules, with the GASB having the ability

Daedalus actions, words, and descriptions caused him to lose his child, Icarus. Pride and punishment is theme in Daedalus and Icarus. With this contingency, Daedalus actions caused him to lose his son. In Ovid s story, one of his actions were that he went first. Instead of letting his son go first, he went causing his son to get left behind. Since he put his life and ego before his child, he no longer has a son. Pride is like a knife it can cut you deep inside, words are like weapons they harm at times. Daedalusgave Icarus advice before they took flight because he didn t think he would survive. It seemed

Essay on Carson McCullers Carson McCullers Walter Allen said of Carson McCullers; ``Faulkner apart, the most remarkable novelist the South has produced seems to me Carson McCullers (Allen 208). Her work is marked with the feeling of loneliness coming from her lonely childhood (spiritual isolation is the basis of most of her themes) and the music she always wanted to study. She wrote novels, short stories and dramas. In all she received the recognition of both the public, her fellows writers, and critics. Carson McCullers is a talented Southern American writer who touched others with her ability to describe human complexity with a touch of poesy. Carson is a precocious writer considered to be full of talent. She started to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is ``able to persuade us that contemporary reality and legendary story are one (Graver 209). The worlds she created are imaginary but in their ``depth and variety can look like the reality (Allen 208). A lot of critics speak about the poetic aspect of her work and think that ``With her, the Southern tradition of the Gothic novel is refined into a poetic sensibility which has not escaped either imitation or misuse (Hassan 506). Even if her novels are all in prose and ``not in any obvious sense poetic (Allen 208), ``from its first appearance, critics have recognized the Lyricism of the McCullers narrative style, which can render even sordid subject matter in poetic terms (Griffith 209). This come from her first vocation which was music. One can find this constant presence of music in her novels: ballad and Negro song. This is a part of the spirit of the deep South she described in her work. As she was born in Georgia and most of her novels take place in the South, she is always connected with this region. Some people called her work gothic because of her characters who all have a physical or psychological deficiency. Gothic is a style of writing that grew in the south with authors as William Faulkner, Earnest Hemingway, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. She is very often associated with all these well known writers. ``With a touch reminiscent of Faulkner but peculiarly her own style (Feld 2373).

Application Of An Electrical Circuit Introduction: An electrical circuit is defined by the ability to allow the flow of electrons in a complete loop between two points of potential difference. This potential difference (that being two terminals of high and low electric potential) is provided by a battery. Metals of varying electrode potentials can be used in conjunction with an intermediary such as a potato to provide a circuit with an electrochemical cell. The difference in potentials between zinc and copper electrodes (for example) facilitate the movement of electrons through redox reactions. Potential difference can be described as the work done by an electronas it passes through a component resulting in a loss of potential energy.( Aqa as physics pg 48) A potential difference in charge between two points within an electric field is quantified as voltage. Over the course of one second, one voltwill provide enough force for one coulomb of charge carriers to pass through a resistance of one ohm. The volt and potential difference are the same unit in actuality. Even without the movement of charge carriers an electrostatic field will be produced when there is a voltage. These fields become stronger if the voltage increases with no change to separation distance. Conversely an increase in distance between the points will result in the diminishing of the electrostatic flux density. http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/voltage Current can be defined as the rate of flow of positively charged particles
