2. WISE BANK
 WISE bank is a initiative of WISE-women initiative for self employment.
 The bank was instituted in September 2006.
 WISE helps women entrepreneurs by granting loan out of the funds
collected from them.
 The loaning process is simple with no separate interest obligations
instead recipient women have to pay Rs. 100/- every months till the loan
is paid back.
 The banks services are now offered to women in areas such as
Mehuwala, Shuklapur, Garhi, Jatowala, Fatehpur and Ratanpur-
Nayagaon.
Future Prospects for WISE
 Alternative 1. Expand yourself
 Alternative 2. Partner with Government and
Other Rural Focused Organizations
 Alternative 3. Tie-up with local bakeries
 Alternative 4. Contract farming
Strengths:
High quality of products in terms of nutritional value.
Based on available local resources so garner Govt
support in terms of funding and exhibitions.
Strong collaboration with the IMA which helps widen its
reach especially to inaccessible areas.
Excellent reputation of nearly 10 years of successful
entrepreneurship.
Loyal customers which creates a pull for WISE
products.
Weaknesses:
Multitude of products which leads to issues in apt
allocation of scarce resources.
Lack of Differentiation of products.
Uncertainty with respect to uniformity in quality of
similar products procured from different entrepreneurs.
Lack of regular distribution channel to market in uptown
areas.
Heavy reliance on word of mouth marketing and no
point of purchase displays or other forms of low cost
advertising like flyers.
No cost and financial records maintenance.
Opportunities:
Developments in rural areas creating avenues for
regular income.
Promising growth in the size of middle class.
Increasing trend of demand for organic products.
Sound CSR initiatives
Partnering with external distribution partners will help
scale up and improvement of production practices
Threats:
Competition from other ventures in the same direction
like Khadi gramodyog etc
Rising investment costs to set-up own outlets across
Uttarakhand to widen its customer base.
Mistrust among entrepreneurs with respect to contracts
and legal proceedings of partnership with regional/big
players.
Competition from the organised sector.

5. REPRESENTATION OF INOVATION (DAKSH
CHULLA –BIOMASS STOVE) ON THE VISIT OF CHIEF
MINISTER OF UATTARAKHAND IN THE ORGANISATION
 HESCO has developed a new cooker named as a DUKSH CHULLA.
The cooker is suitable for the places where LPG and electricity
availability is hard to get. It can be used daily as useable cooker for
cooking food.
 The main aim of this cooker is to utilize the agriculture wastes like small
dry leaves, dry wood, fallen branches, bushes etc. The dung cake and
weeds can also be used as a fuel in this cooker. It depends on the
availability of the bio resource. Since, it is steam based cooking; vitamin
and other important nutrients almost remain intact.
 FUNCTIONAL SCIENCE:
Work in steam flow cooking method by the utilization of waste bio-mass.
STRUCTURE OF DAKSH
CHULLA:
•Portable cooker
•Divided into 2 parts – outer, inner
•Cylindrical in shape
•Dimension 20inch in height and
10 inch diameter-outer
•13inch long and 9inch diameter -
inner
6.Analysis of Spring-Recharging concept in
the Himalayas region (salga and the shuklapur)
Spring recharging
concept
This whole process of water
recharging is a very
simple, but it is a
systematically devised
approach which can be
used to recharge the areas
of any given spring. In this
methodology, an
environmental isotope was
identified, and applied.
Model
EFFECT ON COMMUNITY
Today, many youths have started commercial cultivation of
vegetable. Vikram Singh an unemployed youth today earns
Rs. 2000-3500/- monthly from his land now as he cultivates
vegetables for local market. Similarly Mr. Jaspal has also
enjoyed boons of Surplus water of spring for fisheries.

8.Gross Environment Product
 Gross Environment Product GEP is a concept given by Dr.
Anil Joshi.
 The aim of GEP is to include environmental factors like soil,
water, forest, air as a part of GDP (Gross Domestic
Product).
 It is a new dimension to measure development.
 Gross Environment Product concept came to HESCO as it
was working for equal economic opportunity for rural India.
 HESCO launched movement to demand Gross
Environment Product parallel to GDP so that ecological and
economical accounting can be brought in place in the
interest of rural people and country’s at large.

SELF EVALUATION
It was the great learning experience for me during my
summer internship. I have worked with HESCO (Himalayan
Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization),
Dehradun, Uttarakhand
The organization has helped me in learning a lot of
professional skills during the internship period. Apart from this
I also gained theoretical as well as practical knowledge. I have
gained a lot of exposure and experience during my 45 days
internship. I have gained a lot of confidence and have grown
tremendously. I feel great for having had that experience.
