The Effects Of Tolerance On Schools And Schools
Policies, at micro, mezzo, and macro levels, affect our schools and students every day and
constitute the foundation of educational standards in North American schools; to say that
students are unaffected on a micro level would be dismissive, ignorant, and narrow minded.
Additionally, disregarding existing policies and practices in educational institutions and their
potential interactions and effects with new policies and practices would be a grievous oversight
in the decision making process. Zero tolerance in schools was initially defined as consistently
enforced suspension and expulsion policies in response to weapons, drugs and violent acts in
the school setting (NASP, 2001); if anything, maintaining the safety or well being of its students
is a responsibility of the school and school district and a honorable goal to set. However, these
policies have been broadened to include any rule infraction, more or less, regardless of mistakes,
ignorance, or extenuating circumstances. With a broad policy like zero tolerance in schools
comes a broad range of intended and unintended consequences; these consequences can be positive,
negative, and possibly even affect the policy s actual or perceived effectiveness. Intended and
unintended consequences of policy The question of effectiveness of zero tolerance in schools is
complicated and multi faceted. If effectiveness is determined broadly, as it applies to multiple rules
and policies, the majority of research surrounding zero

Essay on A Hero
A Hero What is a hero? Is it a rock star or an athlete? A famous speaker or activist? Or is it someone
so ordinary that does extraordinary things? A hero can be someone who loves and cares for you,
or someone you look up to. Someone that risks their life for others is definitely a hero, that
someone is Oskar Schindler. Oskar is a hero to over 6,000 Jews currently living across the United
States and Europe. Schindler was an normal man with an unreal power that he used to save 1200
human lives during the Holocaustof World War II. What was his motivation for saving so many
Jews? More... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What would posses someone to use their power and money by risking their own life? How did he
do it? It wasn t easy.
Schindler started saving Jews in 1939, when he came to Krakow during the German invasion.
Looking for his own power in Krakow he opened up a small enamel shop near the Jewish ghetto.
He employed mainly Jewish workers, which saved them from being deported to Labour camps. In
1942 Schindler found out through some of his workers that many of the local Jews were being sent
to the brutal Plazow labour camp. Schindler had connections with the German government, which
came in handy. He convinced the S.S. and the Armaments Administration to let Schindler set up a
portion of the camp in his factory. He then took the unfit and unqualified for work, which spared
900 Jewish lives.
In October of 1944 he approached the Russian army to receive permission to re establish his once
defunct business as an armament production company in Bruunlitz. After negotiating with S.S.
officials Schindler was allowed to take some Jews with him. He took 700 Jews from the
Grossrosen camp, and 300 women from Auschwitz. These workers were given the best food,
clothing, shelter and medical care that Schindler could afford. He then heard that a train of
evacuated Jews from the Golezow camp were stranded nearby. Schindler once again pulled some

Green Eggs And Ham By Dr. Seuss
Green Eggs and Ham
By Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss is about a little creature that calls himself Sam I
am. This creature throughout the books holds a platter of green eggs and ham in a platter trying to
convince this man who does not like him very much to try these green eggs and ham. The narrator
(who is not given a name in the book) continuously attempts to avoid him throughout his journey of
this world they live in, however, it did not stop Sam from following him with the platter in his hand.
Sam offers it to him with various servings and locations but the narrator does not budge and
becomes extremely irate. After countless attempts in trying to get the narrator to try the green eggs
and ham, he finally gives in at the end and begs Sam to leave him alone if he tries it. The narrator
takes a bite and miraculously loves these green eggs and ham and claims he would eat it with
anyone or anywhere. By the end, the narrator does not have so much of a dislike for Sam. Green
Eggs and Ham is geared toward children in the middle childhood age group. From researching
online, it is most appropriate for children from kindergarten to second grade. During each domain
of development for this child, specifically in the physical state, many changes are going on for the
child. Much of the height and weight gain takes place and the child s primary or as other people
may call baby teeth start to deteriorate. Children in this age group are able to become more

King Philip Regime and Government in Paris 1200 by John W....
King Philip Regime and Government In the novel, Paris 1200 by John W. Baldwin, King Philip
(Philip Augustus), was an important contributor to the growth of the French Monarchy. He was
able to increase the Monarchy better then any other King before him. He defeated many
enemies, sought to overtake the British crown and embarked on a third crusade. King Philip
Augustus brought financial stability to the country and was very popular amongst his subjects.
King Philip when assigned King had many goals to achieve to make his Kingdom the most
powerful. He changed the political structure to better suit these goals and allow for a better
transition with his changes. King Philip Augustus had different relationships, good and bad,
with the Catholic Church, the Parisian Elite and England. Philip II, starting at such a young age,
had high expectations for the development of the Kingdom. Philip Augustus was the late son of
King Louis VII and it was a miracle that King Louis VII could bear a son so late in his regime.
His birth at Paris on 21 August 1165 was the occasion of exceptional rejoicing for his parents,
and for the Parisian population because it brought long years of anxiety to a close (Baldwin 71).
The country finally felt secure knowing there was a male hair in line to rule the Kingdom. King
Philip was the son of Louis VII and Alix de Champagne. He was born in Paris and spent as much
time as possible in the capital area. His father planned to associate Philip with him on the

How do I interpret data in SPSS for Pearson s r and scatter plots Correlations Box Take a look at
the first box in your output file called Correlations. You will see your variable names in two
rows. In this example, you can see the variable name water in the first row and the variable name
skin in the second row. You will also see your two variable names in two columns. See the
variable names water and skin in the columns on the right? You will see four boxes on the right
hand side. These boxes will all contain numbers that represent variable crossings. For example, the
top box on the right represents the crossing between the water variable and the skin variable. The

Warning about the Sig (2 Tailed) value When you are computing Pearson s r, significance is a
messy topic. When you have small samples, for example only a few participants, moderate
correlations may misleadingly not reach significance. When you have large samples, for example
many participants, small correlations may misleadingly turn out to be significant. Some
researchers think that significance should be reported but perhaps should receive less focus
when it comes to Pearson s r. So what about the scatterplot? You can find your scatterplot in your
output file. It will look something like the graph below. You will see a bunch of dots. Your
scatterplot can tell you about the relationship between variables, just like Pearson s r. With it, you
can determine the strength and direction of the relationship between variables. Relationship
strength Try to imagine a line that connects the dots in your scatterplot. Is this an easy or difficult
task? This task can help you determine the strength of the relationship between your two
variables. If your variables have a strong relationship, it will be easy for your to imagine a line
connecting all of the dots. For example, in our example scatterplots, the dots seem to go together to
form a straight line. However, some scatterplots do not look like this. With some scatterplots, the
dots are scattered about so

Cubama Inaugural Speech Analysis
It is, now time for us to leave the past behind , which was one of the many things President
Obama, said in Havana, Cuba. The speech I picked was the Remarks by President Obama to the
people of Cuba , which was given out this March, at the Gran Teatro de la Habana in Havana,
Cuba. President Obama main reason was to talk to the people of Cuba, and to forget about the past
and look to the future. His main audience he was talking to was the Cuban people, but nationally
some of Americans and more importantly Cuban Americans may have mixed views about President
Obama decision to go to Cuba.

that he can t change Cuba political affiliation, but he wanted to speak his mind about the
communism and tell them his perspective of what this country could have. Every person should
have human rights and be freely to speak their mind were some of the example he said, and with
democracy comes many benefits of these two. President Obama never seemed to tell Raul Castro

Comparing Enuma Elish And The Serpent In Genesis
The world is filled with billions of people and we have created myths to describe the creation of
the universe and these human beings that live there. The myth Enuma Elish depicts the creation
of our world and of humans, and Creation in Genesis describes how we became a part of this
planet. Now with the billions of people on this planet there are people that lie, cheat, steal, and
trick; at some point in our lives we are going to come across a person that does one or all of those
things. Just as people do those things to us, gods in these myths did these things to each other. The
one that stands out the most in that list is tricking; these people and the godEa in Enuma Elish and
the Serpent in Genesis are clever and full of wisdom in finding ways to deceive others. As defined
in the class, Tricksters tend to be amoral, that is, they operate under their own moral code. Simply
meaning, they see what they want and make up their own rules to benefit them along the way. In
both Enuma Elish and Genesis, these tricksters transform the world around them and are
themselves transformed. Both of these works... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which would grant them immortality. From reading the novel the reader can assume that the
Serpent did this so no human could obtain immortality, thus limiting the amount of gods and
ultimately assist in the creating of the human beings and the pains that they would go through such

Lying Analysis
Everyone lies about something whether it s a like to protect someone from something going on
or to hurt someone s feelings cuz you don t like them or they don t you.Lying is ok because
white lies are acceptable.Rebecca Campbell know what she was doing when she told her four
year old son that their was no more tv for the day.Rebecca said we can t have the tv on all day
deep in her heart she knew what telling him the truth was better but lying was faster and easier
because if she told her son the truth he would have asked her questions like why can t I watch tv
anymore or why did u turn off the tv we can still watch tv so it was better to tell him a lie. Lying is
acceptable because u can lie to make someone stop doing what their doing.
Lying is ok because it maintains your image. In paragraph nine it says that moral philosopher
would disagree that all lies are bad but Randy Cohen says i m a big fan of lying.Lying is not
always justified it is a moral duty we lie without even thinking about lying. We lie to maintain our

Passing of gas or stool elimination may reduce the adverse effect of pain. According to spivak

Mental Health In J. C. Burke s The Story Of Tom Brennan
J.C. Burke s coming of age novel The Story of Tom Brennan construes the evolving life of Tom
Brennan after a tragic accident. Narrating in a first person point of view, Tom guides the reader
through the raw details of his inner conflict and finding his way back to being a better version of
himself. This essay aims to analyse the author s portrayal of mental health, internal conflictand the
effects of grief, loss and tragedythat are presented through each of the characters troubled
perspectives.
J.C Burke conveys the theme of mental health through Tom s view of Daniel. Daniel is in jail.
Confined to a cell and trapped with the thoughts of the accident he caused, Daniel is helpless. The
major impact he caused on Fin s life proves to traumatise him more than anything else. Because
even though Daniel is confined to a cell, Fin is confined to a wheelchair. Never to walk on his
own two feet again. When talking to Tom about the harshness of it all, Daniel was crying as he said,
Fin. Fin s the hardest, though, mate. I just couldn t get this picture out of my head, Fin in a
wheelchair. Constantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Burke illustrates Tom s inner conflict with first person narration. The guilt he feels over the
inactivity he had on the night of the incident, his frustration with Kylie and the added guilt he
exhibits because he feels sorry for himself all adds up to his conflicted thoughts. Tom doesn t
know or feel like himself anymore. But Burke brings this to the attention of the reader in a good
light when Tom thinks, But now I knew what I missed most. I missed me, Tom Brennan, and that s
why now I could smile, cause I could see he was coming back. Thus, when J.C. Burke aptly finishes
the book with the line that was the morning Tom Brennan came back, forever, the true development
in Tom s character and conflict is shown through the employment of first person narration.
Therefore, J.C. Burke thoroughly addressed the conflict in Tom s mind as it was overcome in the

Fracture Hematoma Research Paper
A fracture occurs when there is a break in a bone. It can usually be healed, so long as portions of
the blood supply, periosteum, and endosteum are still intact. A fractured bone undergoes repair
through a series of four steps.
The first step in bone fracture repair is the formation of a hematoma. When blood vessels within the
bone tear, they hemorrhage. This results in the formation of a clot at the site of the break. Thus, a
fracture hematoma is formed, stopping the flow of blood into the fracture site which, in turn, cause
swelling.
Capillaries then grow into the fracture hematoma, while phagocytes start to clean up the dead cells
within the injury site. The fracture hematoma becomes more organized into a procallus. Fibroblasts

Compare and Contrast the Influence and Consequence of...
Compare and contrast the influence and consequence of European Imperialism on Africa and China
during the 19th century.
Imperialism is when one country dominates the cultural, economic, and political life of a nation
weaker than itself. In the 19th century, Europe was the nation that was dominating both China and
Africa. There were quite a few similarities in the way that European imperialism was changing these
nations. One important similarity was that both the nations had resisted against British imperialism
at one point. However, despite the fact that both these events occurred at the same time, by the
same nations, there were quite a few differences as well. One of the main differences due to the
impact of Imperialism in China ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason there was resistance faced from both these nations was simply because both were
independent nations. One of the major differences in between China and Africa during the period
of their Imperialism was that the Chinese people had a revolution while the Africans did not. In
China Sun Yat Sen wanted to end the dynasty system in China and he did this by starting a
revolution. Soon, the government had learned about his plans and he went to the west to gather
support to overthrow the Manchu Dynasty. He wanted to do this because he believed that China
should be a republic otherwise they would fall behind all the other nations. Sun Yat Sen had
created the three principles and eventually these three principles became very well known and soon
another uprising which was successful ended the Manchu dynasty. China finally became a
Republic. Another major difference between the Imperialism in Africa and China was that China
was harder to conquer than Africa because for one, China had a centralized government. This
meant that the Chinese would most probably have one large military, which it did. Another reason
it was harder to conquer was that it was much farther than Africa was for the British. This led to
more difficulties in travelling to get to China. Also, in China there was one unified language
whereas in Africa there were multiple languages. One more difficulty was that the people were also

Financial services differ greatly depending upon where you are at. Different countries have different
currencies, markets, laws, and accounting practices to list a few. Because of this most financial
institutions use a similar organizational structure. Goldman Sachs breaks their operations into four
segments: Institutional client services, investment management, investment banking, and
investment and lending (GS).
Institutional Client Services
They have a global structure to ensure satisfaction with strategic and financing needs of clients
around the world. In the institutional client services segment they facilitate client transactions and
make markets in fixed income, equity, currency and commodity products primarily with
institutional clients (GS). In addition to this they make markets and clear client transactions on
major stock options and futures exchanges worldwide, provide financing, securities lending and
prime brokerage services (GS). Although revenues from these activities are decreasing it is still by

Benefits Of Tahini Sesame Paste
Recently I bought some tahini sesame paste for a recipe I found in a cookbook.
For those of you, who are new to this, tahini comes from crushed sesame seeds.
It is one of the world s healthiest foods to eat.
I went to the local shops to buy some, there were two jars, hulled and unhulled.
My instincts told me to get the unhulled which I did, although I was concerned the unhulled tahini
sesame paste would not taste as sweet.
Unhulled is stronger in flavour, a little bitter in taste, and darker in colour. However, you soon get
used to the taste and after a while, it actually tastes really good.
If you are not sure of the taste you can always add some raw organic honey.
Now, it was time to look into tahini benefits. And could I use it more often?... Show more content

My anti aging regime is already jam packed, nevertheless, there is always room for one more.
Your complexion will glow from all the vitamins and minerals, it is probably the best for looking
younger.
It contains all the B vitamins and zinc you need for healthy skin and hair.
Tahini sesame paste unhulled, has two fantastic compounds, sesamolin, and sesamin.
As a result, these two compounds enhance absorption of vitamin E in the body.
This is important, as air pollution alone can cut the amount of vitamin E in the body, and in turn
causes wrinkles.
Sesamolin and sesamin compounds are of great benefit to a healthy heart, and hormonal health.
These compounds will protect the liver from toxic damage and help lower high blood pressure.

sesame paste will help reduce pain.

The Government Should Mandate Helmet Use for All Cyclists
Cuts, bruises and even broken bones will heal, but damage to your brain can last a lifetime. You
can prevent possible injuries from unforeseen disasters such as smacking the street, sidewalk,
curb, a car, tree or anything else around you by using safety precautions. In some cases, we are
required to use safety measures, while in others we are merely advised. For instance, while driving
an automobile, the law requires for all occupants in the vehicle to wear safety belts. The reason for
this law is because without using such cautiousness, fatal accidents would be more frequent. In the
same respects, safety should be required for bicycle and motorcycle riders. Various injuries... Show

Although you should take other safety measures when cycling, a helmet is by far the most important
and most effective piece of protective equipment a cyclist can wear. In the event of a traffic
accident, wearing a helmet saves lives by reducing the extent of a head injury because when you
fall or crash, your helmet absorbs much of the force of impact that would otherwise hurt your
head ( Helmet Use ). The thick plastic foam also know as firm polystyrene inside the hard outer
shell of your helmet, crushes to cushion the blow during an accident ( Motorcycle Accidents ).
The helmet takes the hit instead of your head. Each year, even minor bicycle and motorcycle
accidents kill hundreds of people in the United States and cause brain damage and other injuries
to more than half a million riders ( Why should we wear helmets? ).Buying a helmet is one of the
best investments a person can make. Bicycle shops and discount department stores offer many
models of helmets, priced around $20.00. Even with wide availability of inexpensive helmets and
proper information on how and why to use them, it is estimated that only approximately half of
over eighty million bike riders wear their helmet all the time ( Why should we wear helmets? ). As a
result of the diminutive amount of helmets worn in the United States, many accidents are fatal.
Each year, bike related crashes kill about nine hundred people and injure 567,000 others and an
average of 166,000 Americans are

Depend On It , from The New York Times, that people are now beginning to believe that social
mediamay even take a toll on their career. On the contrary, I find it ironic that people claim to be
victimized by social media when they are giving it authority over them and their lives by
assuming they cannot stay in control of how they spend their time. If common people allow
social media to take up valuable work time, then they are one of two things; careless of their job,
or they feel as though they are not in charge of their life. I believe that social media cannot hurt a
career unless the person using it gives it the power to do so. On the other hand, Newport believes
that social media can hurt your career by making someone counterproductive.
The first point that Newport makes is that social media can harm one s career. Additionally,
Newport explains in their article the many ways in which he thinks that social media can impact a
career and work ethics. Newport acknowledges that social media is engineered to be addictive and
goes further to explain that it deteriorates the skill to focus on complex tasks without losing focus.
Within his second point, he says that, The more you

The color of the clear peaceful sky and cool relaxing ocean ; Indigo the color of which is

history on how indigo created a peace around the world . In todays society all most all of our
indigo dye produced are synthetic , but true blue indigo is making a appearance again in small
villages and countries around the world. People are determined to continue the tradition of the
true blue, the blue that started it all. In my reaction essay I would like to highlight the points on
whether the labor intensive production of peaceful indigo is helpful to struggling rural
community s. For starters let me go over a quick review of how indigo is created. Indigo comes
from a variety of natural plants from the genus Indigofera, which contain indican. Most of theses
plants were discovered independently around the world within different time periods. The indican
is a colorless, water soluble derivative that when is oxidized by exposure to air converts a blue
foam indigo. Throughout the world many countries developed different methods to produce this
beautiful dye. Most rural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Decomposition And Decomposition
Comparison of Decomposition and Street People: How Dangerous are They?
The two texts provided are Decomposition , a poem by Zulfikar Ghose, and Street People: How
Dangerous are They? , an article for Survival magazine by Loren W. Christensen. The former is
about a man who is describing, in hindsight, his experience photographing a homeless man on the
street, while the latter is about how to protect oneself from dangerous people on the street while
travelling or in an unfamiliar location. They both deal with experiences relating to street people ,
and have some things in common, as well as key differences. In this comparison, I will try and

The first article has a more sympathetic tone towards street people, and questions if we are
actually compassionate to their situations or just feel pity because that s how we think we
should feel. Such sights are so common that we have learned to automatically filter them and
treat them as though they are perfectly normal and have been around forever ( he lies veined
into stone, a fossil man ), when in fact, if you think about it, it s depressing and shocking that
there are people who are suffering because they don t have homes, families, or a spray to support
themselves. There is an implication that in admiring the art of other people s sadness, we overlook
the circumstances that led to the production of the art ( his head ... chides me now for my
presumption ). This can especially be seen with photographs as even with paintings such as the
Mona Lisa, people wonder about the mystery of the subject, but with photographs, even though they
are a perfect realistic depiction of the world around us, it somehow makes us desensitised to their
real plight.
On the other hand, the second article is more aggressive and almost pejorative in its voice. The
writer admits that they are generalising most people who are homeless ( it should be said that not
all of them are drug users, thieves and muggers ), but states that it is safer to generalise negatively
in the interest of one s self preservation. One gets the sense that such people live in

The Impact Of Roman Military Reforms During The Late Republic
The five secondary sources chosen will express their reasonings for the Roman military reforms
during the Late Republic. Some sources will only state information of either the Maniple or Cohort
organization. All the sources will focus on the impact of the Roman military on its culture and
society. Wealth and social hierarchy was the fundamental factor in Roman life. Since the birth of the
Roman Republic, Rome established its military on class organization. The Maniple structure of the
Roman Military was determined by the age and wealth of an individual. Male Romans without the
economic surplus to buy arms would not be omitted into the legions of the Roman Republic. Free
male citizens could fight for the honor of defending Rome and their families.... Show more content

The new form of Cohort structure increased the number of recruitable soldiers and extended
military service by incorporating the lower classes of Plebeians into the Roman gears of war.
Poor free citizens could volunteer and become trained warriors, with arms and armor to equip
themselves. The notion of a professional military would be adopted by the Romans, known by
modern scholars as the Cohort structure. Gaius Marius would be the Roman general to push for a
reform of the old Maniple structure. He would become the primary inspiration for new military
organization. The Cohort structure would become the classical legion associated with the Roman
Empire. Throughout the Late Republic and Imperial Eras, Rome would expand to encompass the
Mediterranean and Western Europe.
In the short book On the Wings of Eagles: The Reforms of Gaius Marius and the Creation of Rome
s First Professional Soldiers, by Christopher Anthony Matthew, general Gaius Marius instated
reforms and developments which would become the stable of Roman military structure. The main
problem Matthew is trying to solve is how much of the Marian reforms have on the military
systems of Rome. The

Why Did Katie Holmes Talk About Scientology
Katie Holmes is actually going to speak out about Scientology for the very first time tonight on
20/20. US Magazine shared the news that since her divorce from Tom Cruise, Holmes will
finally be sharing. When the two split, Tom and Katie were very quiet about what happened and
never shared if Scientology could have been part of the problem in their relationship. Holmes
will be talking about Leah Remini on this special where Leah will talk about leaving Scientology
and how it affected her life. Katie has never said a spoke out about Leah in the press before. This

Katie Holmes actually divorced Tom Cruise back in 2012 after being married to him for 6 years.
Cruise did admit back in 2013 that reports that Katie left him to protect Suri from Scientology

Katie Holmes and Cruise had together during their marriage.
Leah has revealed that she was once written up for telling Cruise and Holmes to get a room after

Everyone seems to think the kind of hardship you ve been thru describes your character. But in
reality, it is what you do with that hardship that really shows it. In Margaret Peterson Haddix s

everyone. She leaves because she has to go get medicine and has to stop her friends from dying.
This was her hardship and she chose to deal with it by helping out. In Z for Zachariah by Robert

they have to also fix it. Deal with it. Both the young girls have chosen to deal with this hardship

might think that getting out of the house was not courage but just protecting herself. While this

Pros And Cons Of Alabama s Lottery System
Alabama is one of seven states that does not have a lottery system. Because of this, Alabama is
missing out on millions of dollars per year. In fact, lottery systems generated $65.5 billion dollars
in 2012, twenty five of which goes directly to state funded projects (Isidore). That is an average of
over a billion and a half dollars in revenue per state per year. If Alabamadid approve a lottery
system, the money it generated would go to education and healthcare. Alabama ranks forty fifth and
forty sixth in these two areas respectively out of fifty states.
Alabama does not have a lottery system because of religious reasons. Forming a lottery is actually
illegal in the constitution of three states: Utah, Mississippi, and Alabama. Article IV В§65 of the

As mentioned before, Alabama s constitution outlaws the founding of a state lottery system or
gambling of any kind. Propositions of a lottery bill have been created many times in the past.
Originally these bills were shot down immediately and never even made it to be voted on.
Recently, however, these bills have become increasingly more popular. In 1999, a bill was created
by then governor Don Siegelman that did reach voting, and narrowly was turned down by a vote
of 54 percent to 46 percent. A lottery bill was not on the 2016 ballot, but could be on the 2017
ballot. Governor Robert Bentley, who had previously been strongly opposed to a lottery bill, has
seemed to have had a change of heart, saying the only way that the state can gain the much needed
money for Medicaid would be through a state lottery program. With the Governor s support now, a
lottery bill could be on the ballot as soon as next year, which means that the lottery system could be
implemented by spring of

Capital Gains and Dividends
Capital Gains and Dividends Under a source concept of capital gains, the business is the source
from which gains flow; how does this differ from the trust concept of income from a business?
The trust concept of income from a business indicates that the business is being managed in a
particular way. When a business is in trust, there is a requirement that it be managed ethically
(Unit 2, n.d.). That includes the income the business receives. This is very different from the way
a standard business is run, because a trustee operates the business and is in charge of managing the
income that comes from the business while it is in trust, along with other aspects of the business
(Unit 2, n.d.). Overall, the income that arrives at a business while it is in trust is under much more
scrutiny than income that comes into a standard business. While it is not taxed any differently than
regular income, there is more scrutiny regarding it. Additionally, the capital gains concept is
changed when the business is in trust, because the trustee and the business are not the same entity.
Even if the business is making money, that money may not be able to be classified and taxed in
the same way as it would be without being in trust (Unit 2, n.d.). What is the reasoning for
excluding inter corporate dividends (drd s)? Inter corporate dividends are seen differently from
other types of dividends, capital gains, and income. These kinds of dividends have been subject to
double taxation

Lymphocytes Research Paper
Lymphocytes, one of the main types of cell in the immune system, take part in the function of the
immune system. They are made from stem cells in the bone marrow. After the lymphocytes are
developed they undergo a second stage. The second stage of development is when they gain their
antigen specific receptors. The many functions of the lymphocyteallows them to respond to

Lymphocytes can be broken down into B and T cells. The B cells main role in the immune systemis

Another advantage that we had, ironically, was surprise was on our side this time. Remember
the Yorktown and how I mentioned it being badly damaged and had limped back to Pearl
Harbor. Well the Carrier required a complete overhaul and the Captain went to the hospital to
recover while Nimitz and the other cryptologists tried to figure out what AF meant, (at this
point, they did not know that AF meant Midway and not the Aleutian Islands) and who would
replace the sick Captain. Once Nimitz talked to the Captain, he asked for his recommendation
and he said one of the destroyer Captains should command it and Nimitz was surprised but
agreed. Then Nimitz went to the repair yard at the docks and when they were asked about how
long it would take to repair the carrier because they needed it for wherever AF was. The repair
crew replied that to fix the damaged carrier they would need 3 months to repair it Nimitz replied
saying we don t have 3 months, I will give you 3 days to fix it. When they were done it was not
pretty, but it was seaworthy they did all the repairs in 3 days in what would should have taken 3
months to do.

Aryan Race In Human History
1.The Aryan Race, which was originally created as a form of categorization was used in the late
19th century to the mid 20th century to describe multiple types of people. While originally
intended to be used as a neutral ethnolinguistic classification, the Nazis promoted it as more of a
racial hierarchy, making it known that the Germanic peoples were the Master racewho they then

Background
Tourette s Syndrome is a disease of the nervous system in which people have uncontrollable tics.1
Tics are sudden movements that occur repeatedly and are the major symptom of Tourette s. There
are two types of tics, motor and vocal. Motor tics are body movements and vocal tics are sounds.2
Common examples of tics are excessive eye blinking, movements of the neck, shoulder or limbs,
throat clearing and grunting.3 These tics are extremely difficult to control and worsen during times
of high stress or excitement. Tics are less severe during periods of calmness and focus. 3Activities

A passing motorist slams on her brakes. The screeching sound jerks me out of my thoughts. The

A stop light represents tragedy. Red is the incident that causes sadness. When one stoplight is red,

Yellow represents slowly recovering or looking ahead at what will change. Greenmeans learning to

The History Of Atomic Structure

The History of Atomic Structure For many years Greek philosophers were intrigued by the question
of what matter consists of(Lucretius 31). In the fifth century BC, Democritus was the first
philosopher to come up with a coherent atom theory. Based upon the reasoning that a stone can be
split in half an infinite number of times, he hypothesized that at some point the stone would be too
small for the eye to see. Democritus categorized such miniscule fragments of matter as atomos .
Without experimental evidence, Democritus guessed that atoms of all shapes are in continual
motion. Such motion affords the possibility of collisions in which atoms could attract or repel.
Alterations in matter could be counted for by these collisions. Democritus s original atomic theory
had little impact on the world for many years, due to its lack of evidence, and was rejected by
another renowned philosopher, Aristotle ( Ancient Atomic Theory ). Following Democritus,
Aristotle brought an opposing view on matter. Aristotle correctly claimed that there are three states
of matter, solid, liquid, and gas. Additionally, he made the proposition that all matter springs from
the four elements, earth, air, fire and water. Similarly to Democritus, Aristotle had no experimental
evidence. Democritus s and Aristotle s theories differ in that Democritus stated that matter exists in
atoms in a void, while Aristotle stated that all matter stems from the

Analysis Of Empress Theodora And Victory Stele Of Naram-Sin
Although these artworks can look completely different at first glance, they have many
similarities. For example, all three artworks have one major figure, and portray an importance
on that figure. Thutmose s Nefertiti only has one subject, although that subject is wearing a
huge crown to signify her importance. Victory Stele of Naram Sin s artist scales Naram Sin by
almost two times, compared to the rest of the figures, to show his importance. As well as giving
him a helmet with two horns, unlike any other figure on the relief. He is also positioned closest
to the stars, and is the major focal point. Empress Theodora s artist gave Theodora a larger head
dress and a halo to signify her importance. The artist also gave her gold details on her clothing
and made her slightly higher than every other figure to continue emphasizing her importance. In
general, although they are very different pieces, every artist successfully tells the viewer which
figure is the most important. In addition, Victory Stele of Naram Sin and Empress Theodora
look very different because of the medium used and the figures shown. However, they both tell a
story to the viewer. Victory Stele of Naram Sin is telling of the victory over the Lullubi people,
and how the leader is considered to be a god on earth (Unknown 1). The placement of Naram Sin,
his army and enemies portray this very well, and the background helps give the viewer a good idea
of a setting. Empress Theodora tells of each figure walking

Auto Wreck
Auto Wreck by Karl Shapiro is an impressionistic poem that delves into the understanding of
technology and the horrific contentment that society has with automobile wrecks. Written during
the 1940 s Shapiro has been known for writing about simplistic things yet with grave detail. In
Auto Wreck Shapiro uses similes and metaphors to describe a surreal feeling of an automobile
wreck. He has determined that everyday citizens have become too detached from the everyday
violence caused by automobiles. Shapiro aims to prove that the mechanical monsters that threaten
everyday life have become too mundane in today s society. During the poem, Karl Shapiro uses an
abundance of similes and metaphors to describe the fantasy like setting of an automobile... Show

He states that every auto wreck can cause a massive amount of danger while being ignored by
the common people around the wreckage. He goes on to describe the wreckage as Empty husks
of locusts (Line 20) how they are locust like in the destruction that they cause. An auto wreck is
an extravagant and almost unreal in the destruction that it causes to the people involved. He
describes the people by saying We are deranged, walking among the cops. (Line 15) He is
showing how the people are mentally disturbed by the extreme amount of damage that has
happened. Shapiro then goes into detail describing the way the police cover up the horrific
violence that has happened. One with a bucket douches ponds of blood (Line 18) this line
referees to the police washing away the heavy ponds of blood in the streets. This seems to be
common for the police as they already have an understanding of how to deal with this extravagant
violence. He details the world around him and how some officers have different jobs when
cleaning the car crash up. The officers almost seemed detached from this violence as they have
become used to this violence. It s a horrific thought that these officers could be so accepting of this

Essay about Dorothea Dix
Known as an American philanthropist and reformer, Dorothea Dix transformed living conditions in
prisons and established institutions for the mentally insane in 20 states, as well as Canada ( DIX ).
Through her crusade for fair treatment of the mentally insane, Dorothea Dix exemplifies the ideals
of her time to protect the rights of all human beings, no matter their age, race, or mental capacity.
On April 4, 1802 in Hampden, Maine, Dorothea Lynde Dix was born to Joseph and Mary Dix.
Due to her mother s poor health, Dix assumed the household duties of tending to the house and
caring for her two younger brothers from a very young age. Meanwhile, her father traveled as a
preacher who sold religious books that Dix and her family... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At her doctor s request, Dix spent 18 months in Liverpool, England, during which her mother and
grandmother passed away. Soon after, she returned to America, but sadly, Dix was still to drained
to resume teaching (Morin). Four years later, in 1837, Dix agreed to instruct the women at the
local jail on religion. When she arrives at the jail, she finds some of the women, who seem to be
mentally impaired, foul and freezing, so she asks that their quarters be heated, however, the man
responds that the lunatics do not feel the cold and therefore they do not need to waste resources
keeping them warm. Incensed, Dix recruits two respected gentlemen, Samuel Gridley Howe and
Charles Sumner, who confirm, and support her requests that conditions at the jail be bettered; in
light of their support, the jail agrees to improve their conditions. This experience motivated Dix to
study the mentally ill, in an effort to understand the cause and the best way to treat it (Morin). Early
on in her studies, Dix decided that Massachusetts should do more for their mentally ill citizens.
However, at the time, Massachusetts provided better care than many other states, and thanks to
Horace Mann, already had two insane asylums, although they were unequipped to handle the large
population of mentally ill patients that needed care. Over the next eighteen months, Dix traveled
from jail to asylum to prison to poorhouse, taking extensive

The Gilded Age And Imperialism Expansion
Luke McGrath
HIS 122 101
Midterm Exam

Part I: Short Essay Format
Question #1, American attitudes toward our culture can be paradoxical The Gilded Age or
Imperialism expansion examine the conflicting values that America held for each.
The gilded age was a period in history that caused a vast transformation due to the increase of
American industrialization. Values and attitudes toward The Gilded Agevaried.
The poor workers often saw the changed caused by the Gilded Age as corrupt, where the rich
business men looked at it as a positive change. The poor laborers in the gilded age often viewed
the change that occurred during the era as a negative one. The fact that working conditions for
laborers were poor was no secret. A passage from Upton Sinclair s The Jungle depicts these
conditions of an old man stating, He worked in a place where his feet were soaked in chemicals
and it was not long before the chemicals had eaten through his boots. Then sores began to break
out on his feet and grew worse and worse. In the end of this story the man continued to work
until he died because he needed to take care of his family. This alone would tend to develop an
attitude of negativity by poor immigrants and laborers toward changes made by the gilded. For
more proof one can find various examples of strikes and civil unrest by workers usually against
business owners and police. This too is evidence that the poor laborers of the time were unhappy
with their situation.

Tampa Museum Of Art
Back in my school years I used to visit many historical museums, where I learned a lot about the
culture and society of the past. As I have always been interested in history and arts, all that was a
breathtaking experience for me. I believe that these museums is the best way to get closer to
lives of our ancestries and it can help us to see the world in a different way. However, to be more
knowledgeable about the world we live in, it s also extremely important to be familiar with modern
art. So this time I decided to experience something new and started searching for a museum which
would contain works of contemporary artists. Tampa Museum of Art was a great option. This
Museum was founded in 1979 and since then it has curated three exhibitions covering the Classical
World to Mid Century Modernist works,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have read some information about the museum on its site, and decided that I should definitely
go there. When I came to the museum, the first thing that impressed me was the astonishing
building: it was a masterpiece itself. The exterior of the Tampa Museum of Art has a light
installation, and all I wanted at that moment is night to come so I could see thousands of colored
lights reflected in the surface of the river that flows near the museum. What s more, I liked the
design of the museum inside as well. There were white walls and perfect lighting, and nothing
would bother contemplation. In many museums I have visited before there was a lot of
distractions, but in this museum everything was done on the principle of simplicity, and that was
very pleasing to me. Moreover, when we came inside of the museum, it was almost empty. There
were just a few visitors, who were fascinated by various drawings and statues. Most of the visitors
were teenagers, what slightly surprised me. I

Over the years there s been a lot of controversy over the fact that U.S. troops are currently residing
in Afghanistan and have been there since 2001. Many are wondering why we re still there and why
haven t we left yet. Others want to know the positive outcomes of the roughly thirteen years that our
troops have been there. Are we doing the right thing by being there? Background information about

Shortly after the Republic of Afghanistan was set up by Mohammed Daoud Khan, the Afghanistan s
presidential palace was attacked by a section of the communist People s Democratic Party of
Afghanistan called the Khalq faction. Mohammed Daoud Khan was killed and his government
overthrown in the process of this revolution called the Saur Revolution. A man named Nur
Muhammad Taraki takes control of the new government that came into power after the Saur
Revolution, and he set up a Marxist Government. His government s goal was to industrialize
Afghanistan and provide full equality for women. This enraged fundamentalists deeply, but Taraki
carried on with his plans. On December 5th of 1978, Taraki signed the 20 Year Treaty of Friendship
with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(USSR). This treaty was developed for a few reasons.
One, to strengthen the internal strength of Taraki s party, and Afghanistan s international security
and presence. Two, the Soviets agreed to undertake helping Taraki improve Afghanistan s social and
economic achievement. Third, to increase the defensive capabilities of both nations. Finally, to
declare a twenty year unshakable friendship between the two parties. On January 1st, 1979, Taraki
began internal land reforms in Afghanistan that upset many long holding Afghani families. This
reform limited them to the amount of land they could own, which was dependent on the quality of

Positive Behavioral Intervention In Schools
It is exceedingly important for schools to ensure a balanced and stable environment that provides
safety, well being, and acceptance to all students. In order to do this, as well as generate a positive
communal learning atmosphere that empowers the entire student body of the school and the
individual classroom, there needs to be a schoolwide positive behavioral intervention and support
(PBIS) system implemented. The defined explanation of PBIS is a framework for enhancing the
adoption and implementation of a continuum of evidence based interventions to achieve
academically and behaviorally important outcomes for all student (Sugai and Simonsen, 2012).

In order to do this, there needs to be a system established that collects data through detecting and
monitoring individual, as well as situational, behavioral issues (Marzano, R., Marzano, J.,
Pickering, 2003, pg.112); these may be a recurring, or severe, behavioral problems that happen in
the school s hallways, cafeteria, or on school grounds. To help in gathering this information the
school can establish different charts and individual folders for each student. For example, a chart
for behavioral referrals may be used to identify the student, the date, the teacher involved, the reason
for involvement, and the student s consequence (Marzano, R. J., Association for Supervision and
Curriculum, D., 2005, pg. 164). Another chart that can be useful and successful monitors individual
student behaviors; this report will give data on a singular student, and it contains the date of
incidents, the teacher involved, the behavioral offense, and the consequence given (Marzano, R. J.,
Association for Supervision and Curriculum, D., 2005, pg. 165). This graph gives similar data to
the behavioral referrals; however, it is more specific aiming detection on one student, not the entire
grade or class level. The safety and disciplinary team

Benefits Of Open Campus Lunch
These are the reason why schools should let the students should be able to leave campus for lunch.
The school gives, then after a couple months they take all the special privileges away that they

home for lunch. In high schoolmany students have their license, and most of them don t like the
food that s being served. There could be problems that occur with students leaving, but all problems
have a solution, this essay explain why this would be great for high schoolstudents to be able to

Socratic Reflective Report
From time segment 4:00 to 5:10 (video 1), I use Socratic questioning to promote deeper level
thinking and understanding about standing waves in one medium. During this time segment, I
asked a student to tell me what his data suggested. The student responded that his data suggested
that the wave speeds should be equal. His response was accurate; however, I had him expand the
answer by asking him to tell me why his wave speeds were supposed to be the same. The student
thought about it and realized that the medium a long spring was always the same; this made his
answer better, and he then understood that waves in the same medium propagate with the same
speed regardless of frequency and wavelength changes. I took advantage of the situation and...

If I hand out different questions to each group so they can address them during the presentations, a
variety of perspectives will ease student understanding of the standing waves concept; students
would be required to take notes and to include them in their lab reports. This is a great idea because
collaboration significantly improves critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.
The academic performance benefits of collaborative and cooperative learning have been known for
decades because Robert E. Slavin suggested, back in 1980, that students engaged in cooperative or
collaborative learning perform better academically than students learning through traditional lecture
methods of instruction; his results are still supported today. In addition, Bruce Joyce corroborates
that learning through group investigations emphasizes social development, academic skills, and
personal understanding (2015). Based on these, it is safe to assume that engaging students in
collaborative presentations will enhance their learning and will help them progress towards meeting
the learning targets. This will also focus the lesson more on the students and less on

says to the jury I have held ideas all my life. I have publicly held my ideas fro twentyseven years.

The most predominant features of Marilyn Monroe s personality can be explained by
extraversion and neuroticism with Eyesenk s model of personality. If they are explained in
order, first of all, she was extremely extroverted; she could easily carry on conversations with
others despite her difficulty for developing close relational ties. She was enthusiastic, talkative,
social, assertive and motivated woman. Her extraversion may also explain that why she is still
remembered, talked and imitated today. Secondly, Marilyn Monroe has severe neuroticism. People
who score high on neuroticism tend to be anxious, temperamental, self pitying, self conscious,
emotional, and vulnerable to stress related disorders (p.428 9). She had a tendency to experience
negative, intense, puzzled feelings and was inconsistent with her feelings. She was often very
depressed and in bad mood. Because of these reasons, she used drugs and alcohol. In these
conditions, her childhood experiences may have a big impact on her neurotic personality. Lack of
unconditional love and support from her parents, her mother s serious medical and psychological
disorders, the state of being exploited by others may make her more nervous, anxious, and
emotional etc. Finally, I believe that psychoticism, which means being antisocial, hostile and

The Importance Of The Right To Bear Arms
According to the Heeding God s Call website More than 30 people are shot and murdered each

we can conclude that more and more people are starting to buy guns whether it s for protection or
simply the feeling of powerful in having a gun. In a world where a person have the rights to bear

Criminal Profiling And The Law Enforcement
Criminal profiling is the investigative profession that is used to help the law enforcement and the
government agencies to pursue unknown perpetrators. It objectively seeks to identify the major
personality and the behavioral characteristics of the serial offenders based on a thorough analysis
of the crimes committed. It includes the combination of the analysis of the physical and the
behavioral evidence. This study aims at analyzing criminal profiling on the basis of its basic
elements and its use in law enforcement. The documented history of criminal profiling is traced
back to the publication of the Malleus Maleficarum, a text from the 1400s; it was written by
contractors of the early Roman Catholic Church for the purpose of identifying and eradicating
witches (Geberth 23). Despite the fact that it was based on the author s speculation and the
religious dogma during that time, it was one of the first systematic methods that was used in the
identification and creation of inferences concerning the guilty individuals. The modern criminal
profiling was officially inaugurated by the FBI behavioral science unit after several cases of mass
homicides were observed in the U.S in the 1960s. The apparent increase in the homicides during
this time created a demand on the investigators from the public to solve these crimes using
expeditious ways (Geberth 43). This increased the pressure, the pressure on the investigators to use
the possible resources to track down on the suspects.

  • 2. The Effects Of Tolerance On Schools And Schools Policies, at micro, mezzo, and macro levels, affect our schools and students every day and constitute the foundation of educational standards in North American schools; to say that students are unaffected on a micro level would be dismissive, ignorant, and narrow minded. Additionally, disregarding existing policies and practices in educational institutions and their potential interactions and effects with new policies and practices would be a grievous oversight in the decision making process. Zero tolerance in schools was initially defined as consistently enforced suspension and expulsion policies in response to weapons, drugs and violent acts in the school setting (NASP, 2001); if anything, maintaining the safety or well being of its students is a responsibility of the school and school district and a honorable goal to set. However, these policies have been broadened to include any rule infraction, more or less, regardless of mistakes, ignorance, or extenuating circumstances. With a broad policy like zero tolerance in schools comes a broad range of intended and unintended consequences; these consequences can be positive, negative, and possibly even affect the policy s actual or perceived effectiveness. Intended and unintended consequences of policy The question of effectiveness of zero tolerance in schools is complicated and multi faceted. If effectiveness is determined broadly, as it applies to multiple rules and policies, the majority of research surrounding zero ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What would posses someone to use their power and money by risking their own life? How did he do it? It wasn t easy. Schindler started saving Jews in 1939, when he came to Krakow during the German invasion. Looking for his own power in Krakow he opened up a small enamel shop near the Jewish ghetto. He employed mainly Jewish workers, which saved them from being deported to Labour camps. In 1942 Schindler found out through some of his workers that many of the local Jews were being sent to the brutal Plazow labour camp. Schindler had connections with the German government, which came in handy. He convinced the S.S. and the Armaments Administration to let Schindler set up a portion of the camp in his factory. He then took the unfit and unqualified for work, which spared 900 Jewish lives. In October of 1944 he approached the Russian army to receive permission to re establish his once defunct business as an armament production company in Bruunlitz. After negotiating with S.S. officials Schindler was allowed to take some Jews with him. He took 700 Jews from the Grossrosen camp, and 300 women from Auschwitz. These workers were given the best food, clothing, shelter and medical care that Schindler could afford. He then heard that a train of evacuated Jews from the Golezow camp were stranded nearby. Schindler once again pulled some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The narrator (who is not given a name in the book) continuously attempts to avoid him throughout his journey of this world they live in, however, it did not stop Sam from following him with the platter in his hand. Sam offers it to him with various servings and locations but the narrator does not budge and becomes extremely irate. After countless attempts in trying to get the narrator to try the green eggs and ham, he finally gives in at the end and begs Sam to leave him alone if he tries it. The narrator takes a bite and miraculously loves these green eggs and ham and claims he would eat it with anyone or anywhere. By the end, the narrator does not have so much of a dislike for Sam. Baldwin, King Philip (Philip Augustus), was an important contributor to the growth of the French Monarchy. He was able to increase the Monarchy better then any other King before him. He defeated many enemies, sought to overtake the British crown and embarked on a third crusade. King Philip Augustus brought financial stability to the country and was very popular amongst his subjects. King Philip when assigned King had many goals to achieve to make his Kingdom the most powerful. He changed the political structure to better suit these goals and allow for a better transition with his changes. King Philip Augustus had different relationships, good and bad, with the Catholic Church, the Parisian Elite and England. Philip II, starting at such a young age, had high expectations for the development of the Kingdom. Philip Augustus was the late son of King Louis VII and it was a miracle that King Louis VII could bear a son so late in his regime. His birth at Paris on 21 August 1165 was the occasion of exceptional rejoicing for his parents, and for the Parisian population because it brought long years of anxiety to a close (Baldwin 71). The country finally felt secure knowing there was a male hair in line to rule the Kingdom. King Philip was the son of Louis VII and Alix de Champagne. You will also see your two variable names in two columns. See the variable names water and skin in the columns on the right? You will see four boxes on the right hand side. Warning about the Sig (2 Tailed) value When you are computing Pearson s r, significance is a messy topic. When you have small samples, for example only a few participants, moderate correlations may misleadingly not reach significance. When you have large samples, for example many participants, small correlations may misleadingly turn out to be significant. Some researchers think that significance should be reported but perhaps should receive less focus when it comes to Pearson s r. So what about the scatterplot? You can find your scatterplot in your output file. It will look something like the graph below. You will see a bunch of dots. Your scatterplot can tell you about the relationship between variables, just like Pearson s r. With it, you can determine the strength and direction of the relationship between variables. Relationship strength Try to imagine a line that connects the dots in your scatterplot. Is this an easy or difficult task? This task can help you determine the strength of the relationship between your two variables. If your variables have a strong relationship, it will be easy for your to imagine a line connecting all of the dots. For example, in our example scatterplots, the dots seem to go together to form a straight line. However, some scatterplots do not look like this. With some scatterplots, the dots are scattered about so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The speech I picked was the Remarks by President Obama to the people of Cuba , which was given out this March, at the Gran Teatro de la Habana in Havana, Cuba. President Obama main reason was to talk to the people of Cuba, and to forget about the past and look to the future. His main audience he was talking to was the Cuban people, but nationally some of Americans and more importantly Cuban Americans may have mixed views about President Obama decision to go to Cuba. • 10. Comparing Enuma Elish And The Serpent In Genesis The world is filled with billions of people and we have created myths to describe the creation of the universe and these human beings that live there. The myth Enuma Elish depicts the creation of our world and of humans, and Creation in Genesis describes how we became a part of this planet. Now with the billions of people on this planet there are people that lie, cheat, steal, and trick; at some point in our lives we are going to come across a person that does one or all of those things. Just as people do those things to us, gods in these myths did these things to each other. The one that stands out the most in that list is tricking; these people and the godEa in Enuma Elish and the Serpent in Genesis are clever and full of wisdom in finding ways to deceive others. As defined in the class, Tricksters tend to be amoral, that is, they operate under their own moral code. This essay aims to analyse the author s portrayal of mental health, internal conflictand the effects of grief, loss and tragedythat are presented through each of the characters troubled perspectives. J.C Burke conveys the theme of mental health through Tom s view of Daniel. Daniel is in jail. Confined to a cell and trapped with the thoughts of the accident he caused, Daniel is helpless. The major impact he caused on Fin s life proves to traumatise him more than anything else. Because even though Daniel is confined to a cell, Fin is confined to a wheelchair. • 14. Fracture Hematoma Research Paper A fracture occurs when there is a break in a bone. It can usually be healed, so long as portions of the blood supply, periosteum, and endosteum are still intact. A fractured bone undergoes repair through a series of four steps. The first step in bone fracture repair is the formation of a hematoma. When blood vessels within the bone tear, they hemorrhage. This results in the formation of a clot at the site of the break. Thus, a fracture hematoma is formed, stopping the flow of blood into the fracture site which, in turn, cause swelling. Capillaries then grow into the fracture hematoma, while phagocytes start to clean up the dead cells within the injury site. The fracture hematoma becomes more organized into a procallus. Imperialism is when one country dominates the cultural, economic, and political life of a nation weaker than itself. In the 19th century, Europe was the nation that was dominating both China and Africa. There were quite a few similarities in the way that European imperialism was changing these nations. One important similarity was that both the nations had resisted against British imperialism at one point. However, despite the fact that both these events occurred at the same time, by the same nations, there were quite a few differences as well. One of the main differences due to the impact of Imperialism in China ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason there was resistance faced from both these nations was simply because both were independent nations. One of the major differences in between China and Africa during the period of their Imperialism was that the Chinese people had a revolution while the Africans did not. In China Sun Yat Sen wanted to end the dynasty system in China and he did this by starting a revolution. Soon, the government had learned about his plans and he went to the west to gather support to overthrow the Manchu Dynasty. He wanted to do this because he believed that China should be a republic otherwise they would fall behind all the other nations. Sun Yat Sen had created the three principles and eventually these three principles became very well known and soon another uprising which was successful ended the Manchu dynasty. China finally became a Republic. Another major difference between the Imperialism in Africa and China was that China was harder to conquer than Africa because for one, China had a centralized government. This meant that the Chinese would most probably have one large military, which it did. Another reason it was harder to conquer was that it was much farther than Africa was for the British. This led to more difficulties in travelling to get to China. Also, in China there was one unified language whereas in Africa there were multiple languages. You can prevent possible injuries from unforeseen disasters such as smacking the street, sidewalk, curb, a car, tree or anything else around you by using safety precautions. In some cases, we are required to use safety measures, while in others we are merely advised. For instance, while driving an automobile, the law requires for all occupants in the vehicle to wear safety belts. The reason for this law is because without using such cautiousness, fatal accidents would be more frequent. In the same respects, safety should be required for bicycle and motorcycle riders. The thick plastic foam also know as firm polystyrene inside the hard outer shell of your helmet, crushes to cushion the blow during an accident ( Motorcycle Accidents ). Quit Social Media Living in a world where social media is highly incorporated into our daily lives is associated with being detached from the things that matter, such as family, friends, and even human relationships in general. In 2016, Cal Newport pointed out in his article, Quit Social Media. Your Career May Depend On It , from The New York Times, that people are now beginning to believe that social mediamay even take a toll on their career. On the contrary, I find it ironic that people claim to be victimized by social media when they are giving it authority over them and their lives by assuming they cannot stay in control of how they spend their time. If common people allow social media to take up valuable work time, then they are one of two things; careless of their job, or they feel as though they are not in charge of their life. I believe that social media cannot hurt a career unless the person using it gives it the power to do so. On the other hand, Newport believes that social media can hurt your career by making someone counterproductive. The first point that Newport makes is that social media can harm one s career. Additionally, Newport explains in their article the many ways in which he thinks that social media can impact a career and work ethics. Newport acknowledges that social media is engineered to be addictive and goes further to explain that it deteriorates the skill to focus on complex tasks without losing focus. Some sources will only state information of either the Maniple or Cohort organization. All the sources will focus on the impact of the Roman military on its culture and society. Wealth and social hierarchy was the fundamental factor in Roman life. Since the birth of the Roman Republic, Rome established its military on class organization. Gaius Marius would be the Roman general to push for a reform of the old Maniple structure. He would become the primary inspiration for new military organization. In 1999, a bill was created by then governor Don Siegelman that did reach voting, and narrowly was turned down by a vote of 54 percent to 46 percent. A lottery bill was not on the 2016 ballot, but could be on the 2017 ballot. Governor Robert Bentley, who had previously been strongly opposed to a lottery bill, has seemed to have had a change of heart, saying the only way that the state can gain the much needed money for Medicaid would be through a state lottery program. • 34. Capital Gains and Dividends Capital Gains and Dividends Under a source concept of capital gains, the business is the source from which gains flow; how does this differ from the trust concept of income from a business? The trust concept of income from a business indicates that the business is being managed in a particular way. When a business is in trust, there is a requirement that it be managed ethically (Unit 2, n.d.). That includes the income the business receives. This is very different from the way a standard business is run, because a trustee operates the business and is in charge of managing the income that comes from the business while it is in trust, along with other aspects of the business (Unit 2, n.d.). Overall, the income that arrives at a business while it is in trust is under much more scrutiny than income that comes into a standard business. While it is not taxed any differently than regular income, there is more scrutiny regarding it. Additionally, the capital gains concept is changed when the business is in trust, because the trustee and the business are not the same entity. Even if the business is making money, that money may not be able to be classified and taxed in the same way as it would be without being in trust (Unit 2, n.d.). What is the reasoning for excluding inter corporate dividends (drd s)? Inter corporate dividends are seen differently from other types of dividends, capital gains, and income. • 42. The History Of Atomic Structure Eliza Abrams Mrs. Baldwin Honors Chem в… 24 November 2015 The History of Atomic Structure For many years Greek philosophers were intrigued by the question of what matter consists of(Lucretius 31). In the fifth century BC, Democritus was the first philosopher to come up with a coherent atom theory. Based upon the reasoning that a stone can be split in half an infinite number of times, he hypothesized that at some point the stone would be too small for the eye to see. Democritus categorized such miniscule fragments of matter as atomos . Without experimental evidence, Democritus guessed that atoms of all shapes are in continual motion. Such motion affords the possibility of collisions in which atoms could attract or repel. Alterations in matter could be counted for by these collisions. Democritus s original atomic theory had little impact on the world for many years, due to its lack of evidence, and was rejected by another renowned philosopher, Aristotle ( Ancient Atomic Theory ). Following Democritus, Aristotle brought an opposing view on matter. Aristotle correctly claimed that there are three states of matter, solid, liquid, and gas. Additionally, he made the proposition that all matter springs from the four elements, earth, air, fire and water. Similarly to Democritus, Aristotle had no experimental evidence. Democritus s and Aristotle s theories differ in that Democritus stated that matter exists in atoms in a void, while Aristotle stated that all matter stems from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Victory Stele of Naram Sin s artist scales Naram Sin by almost two times, compared to the rest of the figures, to show his importance. As well as giving him a helmet with two horns, unlike any other figure on the relief. He is also positioned closest to the stars, and is the major focal point. Empress Theodora s artist gave Theodora a larger head dress and a halo to signify her importance. The artist also gave her gold details on her clothing and made her slightly higher than every other figure to continue emphasizing her importance. In general, although they are very different pieces, every artist successfully tells the viewer which figure is the most important. In addition, Victory Stele of Naram Sin and Empress Theodora look very different because of the medium used and the figures shown. However, they both tell a story to the viewer. Victory Stele of Naram Sin is telling of the victory over the Lullubi people, and how the leader is considered to be a god on earth (Unknown 1). The Gilded Age And Imperialism Expansion Luke McGrath HIS 122 101 Midterm Exam 09/29/2014 Part I: Short Essay Format Question #1, American attitudes toward our culture can be paradoxical The Gilded Age or Imperialism expansion examine the conflicting values that America held for each. The gilded age was a period in history that caused a vast transformation due to the increase of American industrialization. Values and attitudes toward The Gilded Agevaried. The poor workers often saw the changed caused by the Gilded Age as corrupt, where the rich business men looked at it as a positive change. The poor laborers in the gilded age often viewed the change that occurred during the era as a negative one. The fact that working conditions for laborers were poor was no secret. A passage from Upton Sinclair s The Jungle depicts these conditions of an old man stating, He worked in a place where his feet were soaked in chemicals and it was not long before the chemicals had eaten through his boots. Then sores began to break out on his feet and grew worse and worse. In the end of this story the man continued to work until he died because he needed to take care of his family. This alone would tend to develop an attitude of negativity by poor immigrants and laborers toward changes made by the gilded. For more proof one can find various examples of strikes and civil unrest by workers usually against business owners and police. This too is evidence that the poor laborers of the time were unhappy with their situation. On the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The student thought about it and realized that the medium a long spring was always the same; this made his answer better, and he then understood that waves in the same medium propagate with the same speed regardless of frequency and wavelength changes. If I hand out different questions to each group so they can address them during the presentations, a variety of perspectives will ease student understanding of the standing waves concept; students would be required to take notes and to include them in their lab reports. This is a great idea because collaboration significantly improves critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. The academic performance benefits of collaborative and cooperative learning have been known for decades because Robert E. Slavin suggested, back in 1980, that students engaged in cooperative or collaborative learning perform better academically than students learning through traditional lecture methods of instruction; his results are still supported today. In addition, Bruce Joyce corroborates that learning through group investigations emphasizes social development, academic skills, and personal understanding (2015). Based on these, it is safe to assume that engaging students in collaborative presentations will enhance their learning and will help them progress towards meeting the learning targets. This will also focus the lesson more on the students and less on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Criminal Profiling And The Law Enforcement Criminal profiling is the investigative profession that is used to help the law enforcement and the government agencies to pursue unknown perpetrators. It objectively seeks to identify the major personality and the behavioral characteristics of the serial offenders based on a thorough analysis of the crimes committed. It includes the combination of the analysis of the physical and the behavioral evidence. This study aims at analyzing criminal profiling on the basis of its basic elements and its use in law enforcement. The documented history of criminal profiling is traced back to the publication of the Malleus Maleficarum, a text from the 1400s; it was written by contractors of the early Roman Catholic Church for the purpose of identifying and eradicating witches (Geberth 23). Despite the fact that it was based on the author s speculation and the religious dogma during that time, it was one of the first systematic methods that was used in the identification and creation of inferences concerning the guilty individuals. The modern criminal profiling was officially inaugurated by the FBI behavioral science unit after several cases of mass homicides were observed in the U.S in the 1960s. The apparent increase in the homicides during this time created a demand on the investigators from the public to solve these crimes using expeditious ways (Geberth 43). This increased the pressure, the pressure on the investigators to use the possible resources to track down on the suspects. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
