In this work, I will talk about na element of the Periodic table, aluminium, I will talk about it’s characteristics, eletronic structure, I will also present who and when it was discovered and finally I will present how do we use it nowadays.
3. Chapter 1 – Introduction
• In this work, I will talk about na element of the
Periodic table, aluminium, I will talk about it’s
characteristics, eletronic structure, I will also
present who and when it was discovered and
finally I will present how do we use it
nowadays.
4. Chapter 2 - Characteristics
• Group: Boron group (column number 13)
• Symbol: Al (latin name: alumen)
• Atomic mass: 13
• Mass number 27
• Does not conduct heat and electricity
5. Chapter 2 - Characteristics
• Melting Point: 660 ºC
• Boiling Point: 2159ºC
• State at room temperature: solid
• Element classification: Metal
• Characteristics: silvery – white, soft, non –
magnetic, ductile and it’s shiny.
7. Chapter 4 – About the discovery
(Who? When)
• Many scientists knowed about
an unknown metal, but they did
not know how to get the metal.
• In 1825 a danish chemist, Hans
Christian Oersted, found a way
to produce small amount of this
metal.
• 2 years later a german chemist,
Friedrich Woehler found a way
to get a enough quantity of this
metal so it could be
investigated.
8. Chapter 5 - Utility
• It is the 3rd most abundant element in earth and
the most abundant metal on the earth crust.
• We use it for a lot of things like cans, foils,
kitchen utensiles, parts of aeroplanes, rockets
and other materials that require a strong and
light material.
9. Chapter 6 - Conclusion
• In this work I learned that aluminium is in the
boron group, and that it does not conduct
electricity and heat. Scientists did not know how
to extract the metal and that it has perfect
characteristics that makes us use it.
