Alpine biomes are located worldwide in mountainous regions above 3,000 meters in altitude. They contain mountain goats, sheep, elk, insects like beetles and grasshoppers, and butterflies. Plants that can survive the harsh conditions include tussock grasses, small-leafed shrubs, and dwarf trees.
