Fantasy films have the element of surprise the viewer can never predict exactly what
is going to happen next. Although The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

behind it. As the main protagonist Larry Gopnik is repeatedly stepped on, ridiculed,
and exploited everywhere he turns, he longs for an explanation. He consults a wide
variety of advisors, but in the end what leads Larry to resolution is a council... Show
We see this first early in the movie when he is standing on the roof of his house
trying to fix the television satellite, and he sees Mrs. Samsky naked, sunbathing in
her backyard. Larry peeps quite a while, and he actually gets sick later from being
in the sun too long perhaps a punishment for his sinful lust. Larry succumbs to
temptation a second time when Mrs. Samsky invites him into her home and offers
him some marijuana. Quite a surprise to me upon first watch, Larry accepts and
proceeds to smoke with her despite being a non smoker (from what we could tell
from his apparent annoyance at his doctor s cigarette smoking early in the film).
And finally, even in his dreams, we see Larry struggle with temptation. Near the
end of the movie, Larry has a dream where he is having sex with Mrs. Samsky; we
can assume that Larry knows this is wrong, because the dream is interrupted by an
undead Sy nailing him into a coffin. These three scenes demonstrate to the viewer
that, just like us, Larry struggles with temptations and he is not your pure, idealistic
follower of God. Though Larry does have his flaws, it s also important to note that
for the majority of the film, he is indeed a good natured and innocent man of God
who just attracts a lot of misfortune. We see this first when Judith informs him of her
