The Alamo Heights Community Development Department is proposing adopting the 2015 International Code Series and 2014 National Electrical Code, with some amendments, as the City is currently under the 2009 Code Series and 2008 Electrical Code. Adopting the updated codes would comply with ISO requirements and allow the Community Development and Fire Departments to use the most recent codes.

2. SUMMARY
 The Alamo Heights Community Development
Department is looking to adopt the 2015
International Code Series and the 2014
National Electrical Code with a few
amendments. The City of Alamo Heights is
currently under the 2009 International Code
Series and the 2008 National Electrical Code.

3. BACKGROUND
 The International Code Council makes
changes and publishes the new
International Code Series every three (3)
years. The City of Alamo Heights did not
adopt the last code cycle for 2012.
 On April 12, 2010, Council adopted the
2009 International Code Series in Chapter
5 of the City Ordinances.

POLICY ANALYSIS
 The Community Development & Fire
Departments are currently using the 2009
International Codes and the 2008 National
Electrical Code. Department staff has
attended seminars regarding significant
changes to the 2012 and the 2015
International Codes.

 The adoption of the 2015 International
Codes and the 2014 National Electrical
Code will comply with the ISO
requirements of being no more than one
code cycle removed.
