◈Background
Silica Aerogel can be used in coatings to improve thermal insulation and hydrophobic performance of the coatings. But it is
very important to select right form of aerogel to achieve target performances.
Only a few years ago, it was impossible to mix aerogel to other materials. Due to this reason, we have developed “wet-Aerogel”
which can be mixed into other materials easily. And then, we have developed two kinds of products finally!

With “Aerogel-W”, We have developed 4types of aerogel coatings. In Korea, Several large companies already have been using this aero-coat-series.
Especially, Aerocoat-300 is being applied to components of complex structures (engine part, pipe curved sections…etc) in which insulation is
needed or which existing insulation blanket can not cover.

Benefits
AEROCOAT-300 is a Modified Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Silicone Based Silica Aerogel Coating for high temperature
resistance in industrial use. Due to its various performances AEROCOAT-300 makes it an absolute choice for
thermal insulation in industrial and general purposes.

• Various heat resistance temperature range : From 80 ℃ up to 300 ℃
• Thermal Conductivity : From 0.040W/mk~0.055W/mk
• Target field of application : Steel Pipeline/Steel Structures
• Applying procedure: Spray Gun, Airless Gun, Mortar Gun, Roller, Brush
Characteristics

(can be sprayed with spray gun or coat with roller or coating blades)

Aerogel Blanket
Firstly, the existing blanket has no Hydrophobic. so the blanket absorbs the moisture
and eventually shrinks. Therefore it causes the inconvenience of having to replace the
blanket after a certain period of time.
In case of aerogel blanket, although it has made up on the weakness of existing blanket, aerogel
blanket experience the process of oxidation due to the oxygen created from the gap between the
pipe and the surface of aerogel blanket during the construction process

However, our aerogel coating fully supplements the weakness of blanket.
• firstly, our aerogel coating is hydrophobic
• second, when coating the “aero-coat” to the pipe, we can completely avoid
oxidation corrosion because there is no oxygen involved.
• thirdly, in order to attach a the blanket to the pipe, it must be measured and
constructed separately which requires a lot of technicians. but our product only
requires one to mix the ingredients in the right proportions and just spray them.

Solution - A
We also agree with you about Dry time issue. If you are concerned about Dry-time,
we recommend you to see following solutions.
The insulating performance improves and the threat of crack decreases as the
temperature inside of pipe increases. And of course, it will shorten the time gap of
the coating time. If there’s a device inserting steam into the pipe to increase the
temperature.
Please try to apply to pipe systems with Aero-coat-
300.
If you want to develope new system to insulate for
higher temperature (maximum 300 ℃) applications
such as steam. Also You can lower volume of pipe
by installing aerogel coating system than now.
Our “Aerogel Coating”is an excellent insulator!!

Therefore it causes the inconvenience of having to replace the blanket after a certain period of time. In case of aerogel blanket, although it has made up on the weakness of existing blanket, aerogel blanket experience the process of oxidation due to the oxygen created from the gap between the pipe and the surface of aerogel blanket during the construction process

Page 6 TEC Corporation Silica Aerogel Coating Silica Aerogel Coating Hydrophobic Anti-Corrosion Easy Handling (just Spray Type) High Temperature Resistance However, our aerogel coating fully supplements the weakness of blanket. • firstly, our aerogel coating is hydrophobic • second, when coating the “aero-coat” to the pipe, we can completely avoid oxidation corrosion because there is no oxygen involved. • thirdly, in order to attach a the blanket to the pipe, it must be measured and constructed separately which requires a lot of technicians. but our product only requires one to mix the ingredients in the right proportions and just spray them.

  • 8. Page 8 TEC Corporation Conclusion Solution - A We also agree with you about Dry time issue. If you are concerned about Dry-time, we recommend you to see following solutions. The insulating performance improves and the threat of crack decreases as the temperature inside of pipe increases. And of course, it will shorten the time gap of the coating time. If there’s a device inserting steam into the pipe to increase the temperature. Please try to apply to pipe systems with Aero-coat- 300. If you want to develope new system to insulate for higher temperature (maximum 300 ℃) applications such as steam. Also You can lower volume of pipe by installing aerogel coating system than now. Our “Aerogel Coating”is an excellent insulator!!
