Economic Interest Group Analysis
For this assignment, I chose to discuss Economic interest groups. Interest groups represent people or
organizations with common concerns and interests. (Boundless, 2016). Being the largest category of
all interest groups, it includes organizations that represent big business such as the American
Petroleum Institute. Routed mainly around ideas to benefit the members and keep the economy
running, large corporations and unions also have offices in the group. Within the economic interest
group includes categories such as business, labor, professional, and agricultural interests. Since money
has a great influence in capitalist societies, economic interest groups are very powerful and contain
many members. Usually, they are very well funded because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Other groups such as the U.S Chamber of Commerce work on behalf of a wider range of business in
general, helping the entire economy and not just once section of it. Since they are very well funded,
business groups are amongst the most influential because they have the money to go above and
beyond. Promoting interests of private companies and corporations by seeking tax changes,
administrative changes, and other business gains are just some of the many benefits this group 3
strives for. Every business and business industry is different, and because of that, sometimes groups
do not always agree with one another. When this occurs, advocates for the industries will usually work
against one another in achieving each of their goals. Labor groups represent specific unions in aiding
the attempt of increased wages and improving the conditions in which workers strive in. Unions exist
all around the country big and small. Individual workers from a small union might have minimum say
or power alone but when they team together they can wield compelling results. Labor unions have
declined in the recent times but workers that brand together often seek the results desired. The

Austins Theory of Sovereignty
John Austin, in his Lectures on Jurisprudence writes : The notion of sovereignty and independent
political society may be expressed concisely thus : If a determinate human superior not in a habit of
obedience to a like superior, receives habitual obedience from the bulk of a given society, that
determinate superior is sovereign in that society: and the society (including the superior) is a society
political and independent . Laws are defined simply as the command of a superior to an inferior. In
Austin s words : Law is the aggregate of rules set by men as politically superior, or sovereign, to men
as political subject . The chief reason for the bulk of a given society rendering habitual obedience to a
determinate human superior is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only a determinate person or body of persons can be sovereign: It means that sovereignty cannot
belong to the general will, as Rousseau said, or to the people or to the public opinion, as it is said by
the advocates of popular sovereignty, or to any superhuman being as is the Islamic view. It belongs to
a determinate human superior, i.e., a definite person or body of persons.
2. The power of the sovereign is legally unlimited or absolute, because the laws which he makes are
obeyed by all, while he himself does not obey any law. Hence there can be no limit to his power. He
makes his own limits. Legally speaking the sovereign is all mighty.
Sovereignty is indivisible: If sovereignty is divided by law between two or more persons or bodies of
persons, then one of the two things would happen. Either one of them will limit the authority of the
other, and thus become the real sovereign, or any other person in a body of MONIST AND
PLURALIST THEORIES OF SOVEREIGNTY. Person who has legally limited the authority of the
others would become the real sovereign. It means, therefore, that sovereignty may be formally
distributed, but cannot be really divided. This is the case in a federal State.
3. State is such a society which is organized by rule and obedience. A law is a command calling for
obedience. State exists only when there is sovereignty and subjection or obedience to the law or
command of the sovereign. Sovereignty is as necessary in the State as

The Effects Of Biological Systems And The Impact On Human...
I strive to enhance the quality of human life through sound investigation and precise medical
judgement. My earliest influence in the medical field stemmed from frequent visits to Children s
Hospital of Cincinnati diagnosed with chronic asthma. Fortunately, my unsolicited visits to the
hospital opened a faucet of interest in medicine. I am fascinated by the human body and how the body
responds in a variety of induced unfavorable conditions. With much consideration and educational
preparation I have concluded that as a career I will study pathology with considerable concentration
on the effect of biological systems and the impact human disease has on society. My plan is to study
Pathobiology as a doctoral student which will properly expose me to professional experience as it
relates to the progression of human disease. By practicing pathology I hope to prolong life by simply
identifying the mechanism of human disease, validating prevention and identifying the most effective
treatment of disease.
Pathobiology incorporates the sub disciplines of Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry
and Genetics to understand the mechanism of disease and how it is transmitted from one patient to the
next. Inevitably, research ensures practical lab experience, insightful knowledge and proper exposure
to current topics of study that can possibly pave the way for proper prevention and treatment of
disease worldwide. Therefore, by conducting research I hope to learn and acquire

The Heart Of Cardiac Muscle Essay
INTRODUCTION The cardiac muscle, more commonly known as the heart muscle, is quite different
from the more familiar know skeletal muscle. Unlike skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle is able to
conduct its own electrical impulses allowing it to contract and relax spontaneously without being told
to by the brain or any other organ (Marieb, Mitchell, p. 512). This is due to the constant leakage of
sodium ions into the mainly potassium filled cells which then eventually lead to action potentials
causing the heart to beat rhythmically (Mariev, Mitchell, p.512) this rhythm is more commonly
referred to as one s heartbeat. From this BIOPAC laboratory, the student(s) should learn how different
stimuli will affect a resting heart rate. Due to the fact that cardiac muscle is able to create action
potentials on its own, a change in chemical, temperature, and ionic balance causes the heart to react
differently and change its rhythm of beats by either slowing down or speeding up. More specifically,
by saturating the heart with histamine the heart rate should speed up, while pilocarpine will cause the
heart to substantially slow, and finally the addition of epinephrine will cause the resting heart rate to
speed up.

The Generic Strategy Options Of Porter

Generic strategies was first set out by Michael Porter in 1985 in his book Competitive Advantage:
Creating and Sustaining Superior Performance. Academic work in the field of strategic management,
Porter (1980, 1985) typology of general competitive strategies: cost leadership, differentiation and
focus. The three virtually divided into two basic categories. Focus strategy requires a niche or narrow
segment concentration. But Porter said, can cost leadership in the success of this strategy or
differentiation to achieve. Therefore, cost leadership and differentiation are two basic strategies Porter
s typology. These two topics are discussed in this article.

The Reproductive System
Do you know how you were born? Do you know how you came to be? The reproductive system is the
system that made that all possible. Without the reproductive system you wouldn t have been born. In
order to produce offspring, the male and female reproductive systems have to be different. Each
system has different parts, problems and care. Each system have different purposes, the male
reproductive system s function is to produce sperm, while the female reproductive system s function is
to produce ova, store ova and house a fertilized egg.
The male reproductive system is divided into two categories: internal and external reproductive
organs. External organs are outside the body and internal organs are inside the body.
The external ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The system is comprised of a variety of different parts. The first part is the ovaries. The ovaries
contain thousands of immature ova at first that eventually mature during puberty. The ovaries produce
estrogen and progesterone which allow the ova to mature. Next are the fallopian tubes. They are tubes
that carry the ova from the ovaries to the uterus. The uterus is a pear shaped organ. It shelters and
nourishes a developing baby, or fetus. The endometrial lines the uterus. It thickens during pregnancy.
The opening of the uterus is the cervix. The vagina is the muscular passage from the uterus to the
outside of the body. It serves as a passing place for menstrual fluid and other discharge.
The menstrual cycle is something that a lot of girls and even guys have questions about. The
menstrual cycle is something that only girls go through once they experience puberty. It is nothing
more then the route of an egg through the female s reproductive system. The menstrual cycle starts as
the egg matures in the ovary. The egg is then released from the ovary during the process called
ovulation. The egg then travels in the fallopian tube until it reaches the uterus. If it is not fertilized by
a sperm, through fertilization, then it out of the body in a process known as menstruation, or a period.
More problems affect the female reproductive system

Aerodynamics, A Subset Of Fluid Dynamics
Aerodynamics, a subset of fluid dynamics, is the study of the behavior of objects when exposed to air.
Hydrodynamics, another subset of fluid dynamics, is very similar to aerodynamics and has similar
laws. However, hydrodynamics shows the behavior of liquids instead of gasses. Reynolds Numbers,
created by British scientist and engineer Osborne Reynolds, describe the way fluids behave against
objects. Bernoulli s principle, discovered by Daniel Bernoulli, states that faster fluid flow creates
lower pressure, and slower fluid flow creates higher pressure.
There are 4 main forces, drag, lift, thrust and weight. Lift is the force that counters weight. It occurs
when the pressure of the object below the object is greater than the pressure above it. The second
force, thrust, counters drag. It propels the object in a given direction and can be provided by turbofans,
turboprops, propfans, etc. on an airplane, but can also be provided for an arrow by the bowstring.
Weight counters lift and varies with mass. The greater the mass, the greater the force of weight is. The
last force, drag, counters thrust. The air particles stick to the object, creating friction and heat which
slows the object. Drag occurs everywhere where there is a fluid, with almost (practically) no effect in
space.
With the four main forces, flight can occur. There are two types of flight, powered flight and coastal
flight. Powered flight continuously uses energy to fly for periods of time, such as throwing an

Lawn Prep Research Paper
Homeowners typically think of lawn care in the spring and summer. After all, this is the period where
a healthy lawn, green and full at its peak, is most visible. Establishing health and vitality is a year
around proposition, and a good fall sets up the lawn for a good spring. The main goal in fall lawn prep
is helping grass establish good stores of energy in the root system to boost the general health of the
lawn and to prepare for strong spring growth. Plants adjust their function by season. As days shorten,
energy storage becomes more dominant than leaf growth. The slowing of growth may look like
dormancy so the homeowner may stop watering. The grass is still active, but reduced watering may
push it prematurely into dormancy. Reduce water,

King Richard II And Henry V
Many English monarchs believed in the divine right to rule. This right was given to them by God,
therefore they believed that no one could take their crown or it would destroy the rightful line of
succession. However, this was not always the case and some kings such as Richard II had their crown
forced from them. If a king believed in the divine right he often had a close relationship with God. In
William Shakespeare s comedies, the divine right to rule a kingdom is present in the ways in which
Richard II, Henry IV, and Henry V are come to rule England. Both Richard II and Henry V were
powerful rulers, whose ruling was heavily dictated by their divine right to rule and their relationship
with God. Through exploring the King s relationship to God in Shakespeare s tragedies Richard II, 1
Henry IV, 2 Henry IV, and Henry V, one can see that Henry V is the ideal Christian King. In
Shakespeare s history play Richard II, King Richard II s relationship with God can be explored
throughout the play as he gives up his crown. Richard II is easily seen as weak, making some think
that he is not fit for the role of king. He does not listen to his advisors and takes money from the
nobles. These actions lead Henry Bolingbroke to take the crown. Richard II does not put up much of a
fight as he willingly hands the crown over to Bolingbroke, but he does prolong the process as he
dramatically hands his crown and scepter over. Richard II even speaks out about his power that was
given to him:

The Benefits Of Raising The Minimum Wage
Raising the minimum wage helps both the employees and employers. Boosting the economic growth
in America. Minimum wage helps ensure a fair wage for the low paid workers. There have been
debates on this economical topic for years, whether if it should or shouldn t be raised. In the United
States, the Minimum wage should be raised. By doing so it brings good benefits and keeps the
economy stable.
Raising minimum wage helps improve the public health in the United States. The public health effect
is often left out whenever there is a discussion on raising the minimum wage. The public health
impacts greatly on low income Americans by raising the minimum wage. By improving the health of
many Americans, medical care cost would also change. Zhou Chen and David Meltzer conducted a
research if both the obesity rates and minimum wage are connected in a way. By using the data from
Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System also known as BRFSS, Chen and Meltzer were able to
find a connection between the two. BRFSS interviews more than 350,000 adults each year, making it
the largest health survey in the world.
Through the PSID DaeHwan and J. Paul Leigh found that low wage does increase obesity and body
mass by a statistical test. Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) is a long term survey of a set of
households in the United States. Around $190 billion dollars are spent on obesity each year in medical
bills. If the minimum wage raised, there would be a ten percent decrease in

The Inequality Between Men And Women
Throughout the history of mankind, women have not been in the workforce until recently. A woman s
place has mainly been at the home, until only about sixty years ago. Women would take care of the
children, cook, clean, care for the sick, and when needed, they would be extra labor around the farm.
Women first started to work in large numbers during the industrial revolution, mainly in the textile
industry. Since then, most women have gone into the workforce. Today a family cannot survive on the
wages of the man alone. However, even though women are needed to work, they still do not make as
much as men. There are still inequalities between men and women, and there is still a large wage gap.
Women today make about eighty cents on the dollar that a man makes. Some careers have a higher
wage gap, and the careers that are dominated mainly by women, like nursing, have a more equal wage
to men. The mortuary science field is not different than the other careers. Women are not currently
dominating this field, so they are not paid as much as men are. Women have faced bias through
history, and women in the mortuary science field still face it today. There are many different reasons
bias remains in this industry. One reason is that women are thought of as not being strong enough to
physically lift the dead. However, women can be as strong as any man, and if not they will find a way
to complete the job. Another reason there is bia, is because women are thought of as emotional. With

The Role Of Grendel s Evil Character In Beowulf
In times before printed books were common, stories and poems were passed from generation to
generation by word of mouth. From such oral traditions come great epics such as England s heroic
epic, Beowulf. In Beowulf, the monster Grendel serves as the evil character acting against the poem s
hero, as shown by his unnatural strength, beast like qualities, and alienation from society.
One of the first responses from a reader of Beowulf is their surprise at Grendel s unnatural strength,
one quality marking him as an evil character. His great strength is shown first in his ability to carry
enormous amounts of weight. There occur several instances in the story where Grendel lifts great
amounts of weight. In Grendel s first raid of Herot, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grendel s description leads the reader to believe he is less human, and more animalistic, than the other
characters. Repeatedly throughout the poem, the diction surrounding Grendel leads to the picture of a
terrible animal; one so horrifying only the imagination could create it. The first description of Grendel
is one of a powerful monster (l. 23). This immediately creates imagery of a large, vicious animal.
Also, throughout the story, Grendel only appears at night, as would a nocturnal hunting animal.
Traditionally, the evil creatures of the earth and fiction commit their evil deeds during the night. Then,
when darkness had dropped (l. 52 53), when the night hid him (l. 104), and through the cloudy night
(l. 367), are only several of many instances that illustrate Grendel s hunting habits, those of an animal.
The sheer terror this night haunting, animalistic creature rages on the Danes is such that only a force
of true evil could produce it, once again showing Grendel as the epic evil character in Beowulf.
A fact that seems quite obvious, but is commonly overlooked, is the evil character s alienation from
society. Of course no one wants a beast like creature with unnatural strength living in their
community; Grendel s banishment from society points directly to his evil character status in Beowulf.
From the onset of the story, Grendel is shunned by society. He is described as spawned . . . by a

Essay about Changes of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
My dearest partner of greatness (I, v, 10) suggests to the reader or audience of the play Macbeth, that

events. The letter shows us of the close relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and shows

Somehow Macbeth manages to keep his composure when faced with his guests and the evidence of
the killing, but we, the audience know that inside, his heart is quaking with fear. Out of nervousness,
Macbeth blurts out the fact that he murdered the two servants with his anger. That was very rash and
cast a tiny shadow of suspicion on him even at that early stage.
Earlier it was Macbeth who was worried that their plan would fail and lady Macbeth was the one who
scoffed at the mere idea of failing. Now Macbeth, the king, had murderers to kill Banquo and others
with no qualms at all. When lady Macbeth inquires about how he is so sure that banquo doesn t
suspect them, Macbeth merely shrugs off her questions and tells her that these matters are not for the
ears of a woman. Here we see how their close relationship, mentioned earlier has diminished to that of
a slave and his master. Now Macbeth tells his wife t walk alongside him as they leave together.
The biggest character change is seen within lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is heart
broken by he fact that she no longer has any control over her husband. He is moving forward and she
is left behind. The queen yes, but moving up from that point doesn t seem to be happening. She, the
strong one has gone timid and womanly. Towards the end of the play, poor lady Macbeth is

Compromise Of 1877, Questions And Answers
1. Name three things that happened as a result of the Compromise of 1877. Elaborate on how this
affected the country. It ended the reconstruction era because of the presidential election and created an
attempt to compromise between parties. This lead to an unwritten withdrawal of troops from the south
that was to protect African Americans. The reason for withdrawal was the Republicans effort to make
amends with the Democrats. Pulling the troops from the south allowed loopholes for the south to keep
African Americans from being equals. Example being, the Jim Crow laws that caused much distress to
African Americans and created major segregation. 2. Explain the plantation myth and its effects. This

The Rise Of The American Revolution Essay
There have been many historians who have debated over the exact cause of the American Revolution.
The cause was certainly from conflict; the real question however is whether or not that conflict came
from the social classes within the United States or from the tyranny of Britain. Historians who are
more radical tend to believe it came from class conflict, while more conservative historians believe it
was rooted in the need for independence from Britain. It is true that England had a role to play in the
American Revolution, however the problems between the classes was the driving force. The radical
historians that view history from the bottom up shape the argument that the problems within the
United States is what brought the need for the revolution. One historian, Alfred Young wrote a couple
different essays giving much information about economic differences and the attitudes that were
adopted by the colonists at that time. How the difference in the class structure effected a shoemaker,
George Roberts Twelves Hughes, and how nervous and timid his initial meeting with John Hancock
was. However after being abused by those who thought themselves better he began to partake in the
revolution, this later changed his reactions to his betters to where he would not so much as tip his hat
to them. Young also discusses in another essay about the creation of the constitution, and the bargains
that the Founding Fathers had made in order to see it ratified. The elite s compromises

The Identity of the Satyricon s Author
An issue which has been debated by scholars for centuries, the identity of the Satyricon s author can
be seen to be resolved through Tacitus obituary of one Petronius, an adviser to the Emperor Nero on
taste and luxury. Petronius, according to various sources, was celebrated at Rome for his refined taste
which attracted the attention of the Emperor Nero; however his high position in Roman elite society
was eventually taken away because of Tigellinus conspiracies and machinations. The Satyricon itself
contains many references to contemporary figures and events that allow us to date the text to the time
when Nero was Emperor, and the content and tone of the novel suggest to the reader that Petronius is
the ideal author of this vast, impressive work, of which we only have fragments. It is especially
important to note the economic, social and political background of the text and the many intertextual
allusions in the novel. Tacitus obituary of Petronius offers details that correspond to the Satyricon in a
persuasive and convincing manner. This essay will examine the evidence that supports the theory that
Tacitus Petronius wrote the Satyricon, in addition to some of the arguments to the contrary.
It is important to consider any other external references made to the text and to Petronius by Roman
authors, and the credibility of these sources. Petronius is referred to as elegantiae arbiter (judge of
excellence) in Tacitus and there is mention of a Petronius Arbiter in

Human Papillomavirus ( Hpv ) Essay
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we know that Human
papillomavirus (HPV) is a kind of severe sexually transmitted infection (STI) and it is so common that
the majority of sexually active people may infect HPV during their lives. The majority of HPV
infections cause no severe symptoms and can be resolved spontaneously in two years. But some of
them preserve and lead to premalignant condition or warts. The premalignant condition will increase
the danger of several kinds of cancers, such as the cervix cancer, vulva cancer, vagina cancer, mouth
cancer and throat cancer. According to the information from the CDC and WHO, HPV16 and HPV18
are two kinds of high risk HPVs, which may cause cervical cancer among women; HPV6 and HPV11
are considered to be the common causes of genital warts and respiratory papillomatosis.[2]
Introduction of HPV

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a kind of DNA virus from the papillomavirus family. There are more
than 150 types of HPV discovered till now. Over 40 types of them are transmitted by sex and infect
the anus and genitals.[5] Early age of first sexual intercourse, poor immune function, smoking, and
multiple partners are all high risk factors for Continual HPV infections [2] The major routes of

Death Is The Middle Child Of Parents Edward And Emily...
Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was the middle
child of parents Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Young Emily Dickinson s early childhood
consisted of attending school, reading books, taking part in church activities, and learning to sing and
play the piano. Her formal schooling was phenomenal for girls in the early 19th century, though not
unusual for girls in Amherst. After spending some time in Amherst district school, she attended
Amherst Academy for about 7 years before entering Mount Holyoke Female Seminary (now Mount
Holyoke College) in 1847. Dickinson s early years were not without distress. Deaths of friends and
relatives, including her young cousin Sophia Holland, prompted questions about death and
immortality. Death happens to be a recurring theme in Dickinson s poetry. Although this is the case,
no two poems have exactly the same understanding of death, however. Death is sometimes
frightening, lenient and gentle, or simply inevitable. The intent of this paper is to analyze the
persistent theme of death in Dickinson s poetry and how it is portrayed in some of her most well
known pieces. These select few poems will include I like a look of Agony , I heard a Fly buzz when I
died and Because I could not stop for Death. As Dickinson got older, her personal life went through a
tremendous change. She came into her own as an artist during a short but intense period that scholars
estimate ranged from 1858 1865. These

Piggy In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Out of all of the boys on the island, Piggy is the only boy who cares most about getting off the island.
He also attaches himself to the conch, which represents order, and surrounds himself in items that
symbolize order. Because of all of this, Piggy chooses to accept civilization with open arms. For
example, Piggy always says You haven t got the conch! ( 11 . 29) whenever the boys forget the
purpose of the conch. The conch represents order and their rules on the island. Whenever they are
broken, Piggy tries to reinforce its purpose and bring back their government . Another item Piggy is
attached to that represents civilization are his glasses. Here let me go! His voice rose to a shriek of
terror as Jack snatched the glasses off his face.

The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Nathaniel Hawthorne is the author of the prodigious book entitled The Scarlet Letter. In The Scarlet
Letter, Hester Prynne commits adultery with Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale. Her husband, Roger
Chillingworth, soon finds out about the incident after it becomes clear that she is pregnant. The whole
town finds out and Hester is tried and punished. Meanwhile, Roger Chillingworth goes out then on a
mission to get revenge by becoming a doctor and misprescribing Dimmesdale. He does this to torture
Dimmesdale as a form of revenge. Hester is publicly punished and is contrived to wear a scarlet letter
A on her bosom. This is how she was punished. This was a way to shame her and seclude her from
society. Hester was forced to stand on a scaffolding and stare out over the people that were watching
her with her scarlet letter A embroidered on her chest. Over time the scarlet letter A in Nathaniel
Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter, acquired many meanings including adultery, able, and angel. The
scarlet letter A originally meant adultery in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter. Hester is made
to wear the letter A once the town s people see, that she committed adultery by bearing a child by
some other soul than her husband Roger Chillingworth. Adultery was a sin and was sometimes
punishable by death. Hester was lucky in this instance to only have to wear a scarlet letter A on her
chest. This A was used as a form of punishment. What Hester did was prodigiously against

Campaign Contributions Of The Federal Election Campaign Act
Campaign contributions destroy the marketplace by expelling the views of average citizens in
exchange for the views of corporate donors that don t have the opportunity to have their views
scrutinized by the public. Their views are safe from criticism because they are able to shield their
views through backdoor talks with candidates. According Samuel Issacharoff, a professor of
Constitutional Law at the New York University of Law, in reference to political corruption, the source
of corruption was large expenditures capturing the marketplace of political ideas (Issacharoff). The
spread of ideas is essential to democracy and large donations to campaigns prevents ideas from
average citizens from being considered. The corruption from large corporations needs to be regulated
to allow for our democratic elections to be free and fair for everyone involved so that all suggestions
can be heard.
Congress tried to regulate this corruption by passing the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) of
1971. This act aimed to require campaigns to report all contributions and prevent direct campaign
contributions by corporations and unions. The act imposed contribution limits by corporations to
candidates. These limits fostered an environment where PACs or political action committees were
formed. The Federal Election Commission states, corporations and unions could use treasury funds to
establish, operate and solicit voluntary contributions for the organization s separate segregated fund

Isidore Story
Saint Report
Hi, I m Clayton Stuhrenberg! I am a junior at Palacios High School and am going to talk about Saint
Isidore. I chose this saint because he kinda reminds me of myself. But first, you need to know his
story. This is Isidore s life story.
Isidore was actually born into a family made up of saints that lived during the sixth century in Spain.
Both of his brothers, Leander and Fulgentius and his sister, Florentina, are all recognized as saints in
Spain. It was also a family of pioneers and they had a ton of determination, with his strong and great
brothers serving as bishops. On the other hand, the sister was an abbess.
Because of the high standards set and other reasons, life was not easy for Isidore. On the contrary, his
brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would end up working side by side with his brother and after Leander s death, Isidore would
complete many of the projects that his brother began including a missal and breviary.
Isidore was able to separate the abusive way he was taught from the joy of learning. He didn t avoid
learning after what his brother did but embraced education and worked out any problems he had.
Isidore moved past his past and became known as, The best teacher is Spain. .
His absolute love of learning leads him to promote the creation of a seminary in every diocese of
Spain. He wanted to make sure that everyone had access to a place where they could learn.
Furthermore, he made sure that all branches of knowledge, even including the arts and medicine, were
taught in these seminaries.
His encyclopedia of knowledge or the Etymologies was a popular textbook for about a period of nine
centuries. He also had written books about grammar, astronomy, and geography, as well as theology.
At the point when the Arabs took the investigation of Aristotle back to Europe, this was just the same
old thing new to Spain on the grounds that Isidore s receptive outlook had as of now reintroduced the
savant to understudies

Eisenhower s Speech Analysis
In his speech to the nation after the death of renowned Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, Dwight David
Eisenhower elucidates a chance for a cease of hostilities between the United States and the Soviet
Union. Eisenhower supports his elucidation with appeals to pathos through the preemptive utilization
of parallelism, pronoun shifts, allusions, repetition, and juxtaposition in an effort to communicate the
chance of opportunity to settle the differences with the Soviet Union before another conflict on a
global scale occurs. Eisenhower utilizes parallelism in a plethora of areas throughout his speech to
directly talk about his feelings. To do this, he inputs parallelism in the first person to express his
emotions towards the American people and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of the differences between the United States and the Soviet Union for a chance to engage in

Eisenhower alludes to this later in his speech. Eisenhower uses the rhetorical strategy of allusion to

Rise Of Abortion In The United States
Every day the number of abortion cases increases. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy.
Abortions have become a trend among the youth of the 20th century. Although an abortion in the
United States is legal it can regulate and limited in individual states. Abortion is wrong and cruel there
are many positive options to make before taking that plan of action.
There have been an increasing number of abortion cases throughout the United States. Between 2000
and 2008 the abortion rate has increased 18 percent among poor women. Nearly 70 percent of
abortions are for women who are making 11,000 a year or less, and are hovering right over the poverty
line. Lower income single women tend to get pregnant more than middle class single women. The
reason is that lower income single women have less self esteem about their self. The reason for some
women to have abortion is the responsibilities of parenthood and family life. Non Hispanic white
women account for 36 percent of abortions, non Hispanic black women for 30 percent Hispanic
women for 25 percent and women of other races for 9 percent. (
http://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/data_stats/)
Abortion has become a growing trend among the youth in the 20th century. About a quarter of all
teenage pregnancies in the U.S. end in abortion. Teens make choice to have an abortion because of the
worries about the baby distracting them from future goals and education. A teen considering an
abortion influenced by her religious

Jean Piaget
Jean Piaget created a framework of cognitive development in a series of four stages: sensorimotor,
preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. According to Piaget, the outcome of
learning depends on what cognitive developmental stage the learner is in. For example, you would not
give a calculus problem to a two to seven year old child because they have not yet entered the stage of
formal operation, or abstract, logical thinking. A child must be presented with an environment that
suits their thought. Piaget s first stage, sensorimotor, is from birth to the age of two. In this stage, the
child comprehends the world by coordinating sensory experiences with physical movements. The
focus is put on reflexes instead of cognition due to the fact that in this stage children have not yet
began to enter symbolic thought. This is a stage of experimentation and exploration. The parents
should allow their child to play with toys that make sounds in order to get them to understand cause
and effect relationships. One example is playing Peek a Boo, ... Show more content on

The child begins to represent the world with words and images, this reflects an increase in symbolic
thinking. There are two reasonings in this stage: syncretic and intuitive. The former being a break in
logic and the latter being guessing. This stage is characterized with increased creativity and role play.
Parents should encourage playing make believe characters to express symbolic cognition.
Additionally, the child is egocentric in their world view. To discourage this, the parent should get the
child to mentally place themselves in someone else s position. Children in this stage also have a lack
of knowledge in conservation. They think that if you pour the same amount of liquid from a small cup
to a big cup, the big cup has more. In order to help with this the parent should introduce objects that
change shape such as playdoh and

Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Tulips
Tulips by Sylvia Plath explores the idea of disconnecting oneself from life, only to be reminded of
their responsibilities in life. The speaker in the poem is in a hospital room, separate from their family.
No one is present in the white hospital room, except for the speaker and the tulips. The room is
peaceful and allows the speaker to enjoy a lack of commitment towards anything. Unfortunately for
the speaker, the tulips in the room remind the speaker of their life and bind the speaker to their
responsibilities. In Sylvia Plath s Tulips, color symbolism and personification contrast the peace of
disconnection and commitments in life.

The color symbolism of the white hospital room and the red tulips juxtapose the peacefulness of the
hospital room with the speaker s internal conflict regarding their responsibilities.
Personification of silence and tulips further emphasizes the speaker s disconnection with worldly
responsibilities with the chaos of life. The silence and peace of the hospital room is freeing to the
speaker, as they are removed from their responsibilities. The hospital room is void of any distractions
and The peacefulness is so big it dazes you,/ And it asks nothing (32,33). By the room asking nothing,
its quietness does not demand anything and this is freeing for the speaker, as they are disconnected
from their responsibilities. The tulips remind the speaker of their life and their mortality, as they
observe the speaker. The speaker has been left alone in the room, but once the tulips arrive the speaker
realizes that Nobody watched [her] before, now [she is] watched./ The tulips turn to [her] (43, 44).
The speaker, alone in the room, is free from any connections to the outside world until the tulips from
her family arrive. The tulips, staring at the speaker, remind them that they do have responsibilities
outside of the peaceful room. The speaker, alone in the room, is free from any connections to the
outside world until the tulips from there family arrive. The tulips

A Study On Diabetes Mellitus
Part A 1. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (previously described as non insulin dependent diabetes) is a
condition due to hyperglycemia that accompanies a relative rather than an absolute insulin deficiency.
It appears as a consequence of the alteration (genetically inherited or acquired) of insulin secretion,
sometimes associated with peripheral insulin resistance.
Impaired ability to absorb certain macronutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins can lead to
a large spectrum of chronic complications that involve more or less all tissues of the human body.
Globally, an estimated 422 million adults are living with diabetes mellitus, according to the latest 2016
data from the World Health Organization. Diabetes Mellitus affects an estimated 29.1 million people
in the United States and is the 7th leading cause of death.
T2DM includes a heterogeneous group of diseases that associate in different degrees two major
metabolic defects: beta cell insulin secretion defect and insulin resistance of the peripheral tissues.
Obesity and insulin resistance are characteristic for the majority (80 90%) of T2DM cases (Obese
T2DM). The sine qua non condition for the progression from the preclinical phases (prediabetes) to
the overt hyperglycemia stages is represented by the presence of the insulin secretion beta cell defect.
A lack of compensation for insulin resistance will lead to evolution towards T2DM. The first sign of

  • 2. Economic Interest Group Analysis For this assignment, I chose to discuss Economic interest groups. Interest groups represent people or organizations with common concerns and interests. (Boundless, 2016). Being the largest category of all interest groups, it includes organizations that represent big business such as the American Petroleum Institute. Routed mainly around ideas to benefit the members and keep the economy running, large corporations and unions also have offices in the group. Within the economic interest group includes categories such as business, labor, professional, and agricultural interests. Since money has a great influence in capitalist societies, economic interest groups are very powerful and contain many members. Usually, they are very well funded because ... Other groups such as the U.S Chamber of Commerce work on behalf of a wider range of business in general, helping the entire economy and not just once section of it. Since they are very well funded, business groups are amongst the most influential because they have the money to go above and beyond. Promoting interests of private companies and corporations by seeking tax changes, administrative changes, and other business gains are just some of the many benefits this group 3 strives for. Every business and business industry is different, and because of that, sometimes groups do not always agree with one another. When this occurs, advocates for the industries will usually work against one another in achieving each of their goals. Labor groups represent specific unions in aiding the attempt of increased wages and improving the conditions in which workers strive in. Unions exist all around the country big and small. Individual workers from a small union might have minimum say or power alone but when they team together they can wield compelling results. Labor unions have declined in the recent times but workers that brand together often seek the results desired. The American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Austins Theory of Sovereignty John Austin, in his Lectures on Jurisprudence writes : The notion of sovereignty and independent political society may be expressed concisely thus : If a determinate human superior not in a habit of obedience to a like superior, receives habitual obedience from the bulk of a given society, that determinate superior is sovereign in that society: and the society (including the superior) is a society political and independent . Laws are defined simply as the command of a superior to an inferior. In Austin s words : Law is the aggregate of rules set by men as politically superior, or sovereign, to men as political subject . The chief reason for the bulk of a given society rendering habitual obedience to a determinate human superior is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only a determinate person or body of persons can be sovereign: It means that sovereignty cannot belong to the general will, as Rousseau said, or to the people or to the public opinion, as it is said by the advocates of popular sovereignty, or to any superhuman being as is the Islamic view. It belongs to a determinate human superior, i.e., a definite person or body of persons. 2. The power of the sovereign is legally unlimited or absolute, because the laws which he makes are obeyed by all, while he himself does not obey any law. Hence there can be no limit to his power. He makes his own limits. Legally speaking the sovereign is all mighty. Sovereignty is indivisible: If sovereignty is divided by law between two or more persons or bodies of persons, then one of the two things would happen. Either one of them will limit the authority of the other, and thus become the real sovereign, or any other person in a body of MONIST AND PLURALIST THEORIES OF SOVEREIGNTY. Person who has legally limited the authority of the others would become the real sovereign. It means, therefore, that sovereignty may be formally distributed, but cannot be really divided. This is the case in a federal State. 3. State is such a society which is organized by rule and obedience. A law is a command calling for obedience. State exists only when there is sovereignty and subjection or obedience to the law or command of the sovereign. Sovereignty is as necessary in the State as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effects Of Biological Systems And The Impact On Human... I strive to enhance the quality of human life through sound investigation and precise medical judgement. My earliest influence in the medical field stemmed from frequent visits to Children s Hospital of Cincinnati diagnosed with chronic asthma. Fortunately, my unsolicited visits to the hospital opened a faucet of interest in medicine. I am fascinated by the human body and how the body responds in a variety of induced unfavorable conditions. With much consideration and educational preparation I have concluded that as a career I will study pathology with considerable concentration on the effect of biological systems and the impact human disease has on society. My plan is to study Pathobiology as a doctoral student which will properly expose me to professional experience as it relates to the progression of human disease. By practicing pathology I hope to prolong life by simply identifying the mechanism of human disease, validating prevention and identifying the most effective treatment of disease. Pathobiology incorporates the sub disciplines of Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Genetics to understand the mechanism of disease and how it is transmitted from one patient to the next. Inevitably, research ensures practical lab experience, insightful knowledge and proper exposure to current topics of study that can possibly pave the way for proper prevention and treatment of disease worldwide. Therefore, by conducting research I hope to learn and acquire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Heart Of Cardiac Muscle Essay INTRODUCTION The cardiac muscle, more commonly known as the heart muscle, is quite different from the more familiar know skeletal muscle. Unlike skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle is able to conduct its own electrical impulses allowing it to contract and relax spontaneously without being told to by the brain or any other organ (Marieb, Mitchell, p. 512). This is due to the constant leakage of sodium ions into the mainly potassium filled cells which then eventually lead to action potentials causing the heart to beat rhythmically (Mariev, Mitchell, p.512) this rhythm is more commonly referred to as one s heartbeat. From this BIOPAC laboratory, the student(s) should learn how different stimuli will affect a resting heart rate. Due to the fact that cardiac muscle is able to create action potentials on its own, a change in chemical, temperature, and ionic balance causes the heart to react differently and change its rhythm of beats by either slowing down or speeding up. More specifically, by saturating the heart with histamine the heart rate should speed up, while pilocarpine will cause the heart to substantially slow, and finally the addition of epinephrine will cause the resting heart rate to speed up. Without the reproductive system you wouldn t have been born. In order to produce offspring, the male and female reproductive systems have to be different. Each system has different parts, problems and care. Each system have different purposes, the male reproductive system s function is to produce sperm, while the female reproductive system s function is to produce ova, store ova and house a fertilized egg. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The system is comprised of a variety of different parts. The first part is the ovaries. The ovaries contain thousands of immature ova at first that eventually mature during puberty. The ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone which allow the ova to mature. Next are the fallopian tubes. They are tubes that carry the ova from the ovaries to the uterus. The uterus is a pear shaped organ. It shelters and nourishes a developing baby, or fetus. The endometrial lines the uterus. It thickens during pregnancy. The opening of the uterus is the cervix. The vagina is the muscular passage from the uterus to the outside of the body. It serves as a passing place for menstrual fluid and other discharge. The menstrual cycle is something that a lot of girls and even guys have questions about. The menstrual cycle is something that only girls go through once they experience puberty. It is nothing more then the route of an egg through the female s reproductive system. The menstrual cycle starts as the egg matures in the ovary. The egg is then released from the ovary during the process called ovulation. The egg then travels in the fallopian tube until it reaches the uterus. If it is not fertilized by a sperm, through fertilization, then it out of the body in a process known as menstruation, or a period. More problems affect the female reproductive system ... • 8. Aerodynamics, A Subset Of Fluid Dynamics Aerodynamics, a subset of fluid dynamics, is the study of the behavior of objects when exposed to air. Hydrodynamics, another subset of fluid dynamics, is very similar to aerodynamics and has similar laws. However, hydrodynamics shows the behavior of liquids instead of gasses. Reynolds Numbers, created by British scientist and engineer Osborne Reynolds, describe the way fluids behave against objects. Bernoulli s principle, discovered by Daniel Bernoulli, states that faster fluid flow creates lower pressure, and slower fluid flow creates higher pressure. There are 4 main forces, drag, lift, thrust and weight. Lift is the force that counters weight. It occurs when the pressure of the object below the object is greater than the pressure above it. The second force, thrust, counters drag. It propels the object in a given direction and can be provided by turbofans, turboprops, propfans, etc. on an airplane, but can also be provided for an arrow by the bowstring. Weight counters lift and varies with mass. The greater the mass, the greater the force of weight is. The last force, drag, counters thrust. The air particles stick to the object, creating friction and heat which slows the object. Drag occurs everywhere where there is a fluid, with almost (practically) no effect in space. With the four main forces, flight can occur. There are two types of flight, powered flight and coastal flight. Powered flight continuously uses energy to fly for periods of time, such as throwing an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Establishing health and vitality is a year around proposition, and a good fall sets up the lawn for a good spring. The main goal in fall lawn prep is helping grass establish good stores of energy in the root system to boost the general health of the lawn and to prepare for strong spring growth. Plants adjust their function by season. As days shorten, energy storage becomes more dominant than leaf growth. The slowing of growth may look like dormancy so the homeowner may stop watering. • 10. King Richard II And Henry V Many English monarchs believed in the divine right to rule. This right was given to them by God, therefore they believed that no one could take their crown or it would destroy the rightful line of succession. However, this was not always the case and some kings such as Richard II had their crown forced from them. If a king believed in the divine right he often had a close relationship with God. In William Shakespeare s comedies, the divine right to rule a kingdom is present in the ways in which Richard II, Henry IV, and Henry V are come to rule England. Both Richard II and Henry V were powerful rulers, whose ruling was heavily dictated by their divine right to rule and their relationship with God. Through exploring the King s relationship to God in Shakespeare s tragedies Richard II, 1 Henry IV, 2 Henry IV, and Henry V, one can see that Henry V is the ideal Christian King. In Shakespeare s history play Richard II, King Richard II s relationship with God can be explored throughout the play as he gives up his crown. Richard II is easily seen as weak, making some think that he is not fit for the role of king. He does not listen to his advisors and takes money from the nobles. These actions lead Henry Bolingbroke to take the crown. Richard II does not put up much of a fight as he willingly hands the crown over to Bolingbroke, but he does prolong the process as he dramatically hands his crown and scepter over. Richard II even speaks out about his power that was given to him: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Minimum wage helps ensure a fair wage for the low paid workers. There have been debates on this economical topic for years, whether if it should or shouldn t be raised. In the United States, the Minimum wage should be raised. By doing so it brings good benefits and keeps the economy stable. Raising minimum wage helps improve the public health in the United States. The public health effect is often left out whenever there is a discussion on raising the minimum wage. The public health impacts greatly on low income Americans by raising the minimum wage. By improving the health of many Americans, medical care cost would also change. Zhou Chen and David Meltzer conducted a research if both the obesity rates and minimum wage are connected in a way. By using the data from Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System also known as BRFSS, Chen and Meltzer were able to find a connection between the two. BRFSS interviews more than 350,000 adults each year, making it the largest health survey in the world. Through the PSID DaeHwan and J. Paul Leigh found that low wage does increase obesity and body mass by a statistical test. Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) is a long term survey of a set of households in the United States. • 14. The Inequality Between Men And Women Throughout the history of mankind, women have not been in the workforce until recently. A woman s place has mainly been at the home, until only about sixty years ago. Women would take care of the children, cook, clean, care for the sick, and when needed, they would be extra labor around the farm. Women first started to work in large numbers during the industrial revolution, mainly in the textile industry. Since then, most women have gone into the workforce. Today a family cannot survive on the wages of the man alone. However, even though women are needed to work, they still do not make as much as men. There are still inequalities between men and women, and there is still a large wage gap. Women today make about eighty cents on the dollar that a man makes. Some careers have a higher wage gap, and the careers that are dominated mainly by women, like nursing, have a more equal wage to men. The mortuary science field is not different than the other careers. Women are not currently dominating this field, so they are not paid as much as men are. Women have faced bias through history, and women in the mortuary science field still face it today. There are many different reasons bias remains in this industry. One reason is that women are thought of as not being strong enough to physically lift the dead. However, women can be as strong as any man, and if not they will find a way to complete the job. Another reason there is bia, is because women are thought of as emotional. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Role Of Grendel s Evil Character In Beowulf In times before printed books were common, stories and poems were passed from generation to generation by word of mouth. From such oral traditions come great epics such as England s heroic epic, Beowulf. In Beowulf, the monster Grendel serves as the evil character acting against the poem s hero, as shown by his unnatural strength, beast like qualities, and alienation from society. One of the first responses from a reader of Beowulf is their surprise at Grendel s unnatural strength, one quality marking him as an evil character. His great strength is shown first in his ability to carry enormous amounts of weight. There occur several instances in the story where Grendel lifts great amounts of weight. In Grendel s first raid of Herot, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grendel s description leads the reader to believe he is less human, and more animalistic, than the other characters. Repeatedly throughout the poem, the diction surrounding Grendel leads to the picture of a terrible animal; one so horrifying only the imagination could create it. The first description of Grendel is one of a powerful monster (l. 23). This immediately creates imagery of a large, vicious animal. Also, throughout the story, Grendel only appears at night, as would a nocturnal hunting animal. Traditionally, the evil creatures of the earth and fiction commit their evil deeds during the night. Then, when darkness had dropped (l. 52 53), when the night hid him (l. 104), and through the cloudy night (l. 367), are only several of many instances that illustrate Grendel s hunting habits, those of an animal. The sheer terror this night haunting, animalistic creature rages on the Danes is such that only a force of true evil could produce it, once again showing Grendel as the epic evil character in Beowulf. A fact that seems quite obvious, but is commonly overlooked, is the evil character s alienation from society. Of course no one wants a beast like creature with unnatural strength living in their community; Grendel s banishment from society points directly to his evil character status in Beowulf. From the onset of the story, Grendel is shunned by society. He is described as spawned . . . by a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Earlier it was Macbeth who was worried that their plan would fail and lady Macbeth was the one who scoffed at the mere idea of failing. Now Macbeth, the king, had murderers to kill Banquo and others with no qualms at all. When lady Macbeth inquires about how he is so sure that banquo doesn t suspect them, Macbeth merely shrugs off her questions and tells her that these matters are not for the ears of a woman. With the increase of immigrants came an increase of welcoming which sparked both celebratory and loathsome emotions from many. It was at that time that the French gifted America with the Statue of Liberty. African Americans were most impacted because many of them were fleeing southern segregation and racism. With the chance to settle away from such hardship from society it gave many of them hope for a better life. • 20. The Rise Of The American Revolution Essay There have been many historians who have debated over the exact cause of the American Revolution. The cause was certainly from conflict; the real question however is whether or not that conflict came from the social classes within the United States or from the tyranny of Britain. Historians who are more radical tend to believe it came from class conflict, while more conservative historians believe it was rooted in the need for independence from Britain. It is true that England had a role to play in the American Revolution, however the problems between the classes was the driving force. The radical historians that view history from the bottom up shape the argument that the problems within the United States is what brought the need for the revolution. One historian, Alfred Young wrote a couple different essays giving much information about economic differences and the attitudes that were adopted by the colonists at that time. How the difference in the class structure effected a shoemaker, George Roberts Twelves Hughes, and how nervous and timid his initial meeting with John Hancock was. However after being abused by those who thought themselves better he began to partake in the revolution, this later changed his reactions to his betters to where he would not so much as tip his hat to them. Young also discusses in another essay about the creation of the constitution, and the bargains that the Founding Fathers had made in order to see it ratified. The elite s compromises ... While all of their reasons and intentions differ, they are all going to visit the shrine of Sir Thomas Beckett. Chaucer uses many different methods to describe his characters. To describe the squire, he chooses to focus on his appearence, his abilities, and his sexuality but the more that is revealed about the Squire s character, the more likely it seems that his talents lie elsewhere than on the battlefield. Many lines are dedicated to his appearence. It is made apparent that he cares how he looks to others as his hair is first described as locks curled as they were laid in a press (______ 81). • 22. The Identity of the Satyricon s Author An issue which has been debated by scholars for centuries, the identity of the Satyricon s author can be seen to be resolved through Tacitus obituary of one Petronius, an adviser to the Emperor Nero on taste and luxury. Petronius, according to various sources, was celebrated at Rome for his refined taste which attracted the attention of the Emperor Nero; however his high position in Roman elite society was eventually taken away because of Tigellinus conspiracies and machinations. The Satyricon itself contains many references to contemporary figures and events that allow us to date the text to the time when Nero was Emperor, and the content and tone of the novel suggest to the reader that Petronius is the ideal author of this vast, impressive work, of which we only have fragments. It is especially important to note the economic, social and political background of the text and the many intertextual allusions in the novel. Tacitus obituary of Petronius offers details that correspond to the Satyricon in a persuasive and convincing manner. This essay will examine the evidence that supports the theory that Tacitus Petronius wrote the Satyricon, in addition to some of the arguments to the contrary. It is important to consider any other external references made to the text and to Petronius by Roman authors, and the credibility of these sources. Petronius is referred to as elegantiae arbiter (judge of excellence) in Tacitus and there is mention of a Petronius Arbiter in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Death Is The Middle Child Of Parents Edward And Emily... Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was the middle child of parents Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Young Emily Dickinson s early childhood consisted of attending school, reading books, taking part in church activities, and learning to sing and play the piano. Her formal schooling was phenomenal for girls in the early 19th century, though not unusual for girls in Amherst. After spending some time in Amherst district school, she attended Amherst Academy for about 7 years before entering Mount Holyoke Female Seminary (now Mount Holyoke College) in 1847. Dickinson s early years were not without distress. Deaths of friends and relatives, including her young cousin Sophia Holland, prompted questions about death and immortality. Death happens to be a recurring theme in Dickinson s poetry. Although this is the case, no two poems have exactly the same understanding of death, however. Death is sometimes frightening, lenient and gentle, or simply inevitable. The intent of this paper is to analyze the persistent theme of death in Dickinson s poetry and how it is portrayed in some of her most well known pieces. These select few poems will include I like a look of Agony , I heard a Fly buzz when I died and Because I could not stop for Death. As Dickinson got older, her personal life went through a tremendous change. She came into her own as an artist during a short but intense period that scholars estimate ranged from 1858 1865. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne commits adultery with Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale. Her husband, Roger Chillingworth, soon finds out about the incident after it becomes clear that she is pregnant. The whole town finds out and Hester is tried and punished. Meanwhile, Roger Chillingworth goes out then on a mission to get revenge by becoming a doctor and misprescribing Dimmesdale. He does this to torture Dimmesdale as a form of revenge. Hester is publicly punished and is contrived to wear a scarlet letter A on her bosom. This is how she was punished. This was a way to shame her and seclude her from society. Hester was forced to stand on a scaffolding and stare out over the people that were watching her with her scarlet letter A embroidered on her chest. Over time the scarlet letter A in Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter, acquired many meanings including adultery, able, and angel. The scarlet letter A originally meant adultery in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter. Hester is made to wear the letter A once the town s people see, that she committed adultery by bearing a child by some other soul than her husband Roger Chillingworth. • 27. Campaign Contributions Of The Federal Election Campaign Act Campaign contributions destroy the marketplace by expelling the views of average citizens in exchange for the views of corporate donors that don t have the opportunity to have their views scrutinized by the public. Their views are safe from criticism because they are able to shield their views through backdoor talks with candidates. According Samuel Issacharoff, a professor of Constitutional Law at the New York University of Law, in reference to political corruption, the source of corruption was large expenditures capturing the marketplace of political ideas (Issacharoff). The spread of ideas is essential to democracy and large donations to campaigns prevents ideas from average citizens from being considered. The corruption from large corporations needs to be regulated to allow for our democratic elections to be free and fair for everyone involved so that all suggestions can be heard. Congress tried to regulate this corruption by passing the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) of 1971. This act aimed to require campaigns to report all contributions and prevent direct campaign contributions by corporations and unions. The act imposed contribution limits by corporations to candidates. These limits fostered an environment where PACs or political action committees were formed. The Federal Election Commission states, corporations and unions could use treasury funds to establish, operate and solicit voluntary contributions for the organization s separate segregated fund ... • 31. Jean Piaget Jean Piaget created a framework of cognitive development in a series of four stages: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. According to Piaget, the outcome of learning depends on what cognitive developmental stage the learner is in. For example, you would not give a calculus problem to a two to seven year old child because they have not yet entered the stage of formal operation, or abstract, logical thinking. A child must be presented with an environment that suits their thought. Piaget s first stage, sensorimotor, is from birth to the age of two. In this stage, the child comprehends the world by coordinating sensory experiences with physical movements. The focus is put on reflexes instead of cognition due to the fact that in this stage children have not yet began to enter symbolic thought. This is a stage of experimentation and exploration. The parents should allow their child to play with toys that make sounds in order to get them to understand cause and effect relationships. One example is playing Peek a Boo, ... To discourage this, the parent should get the child to mentally place themselves in someone else s position. Children in this stage also have a lack of knowledge in conservation. • 35. A Study On Diabetes Mellitus Part A 1. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (previously described as non insulin dependent diabetes) is a condition due to hyperglycemia that accompanies a relative rather than an absolute insulin deficiency. It appears as a consequence of the alteration (genetically inherited or acquired) of insulin secretion, sometimes associated with peripheral insulin resistance. Impaired ability to absorb certain macronutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins can lead to a large spectrum of chronic complications that involve more or less all tissues of the human body. Globally, an estimated 422 million adults are living with diabetes mellitus, according to the latest 2016 data from the World Health Organization. Diabetes Mellitus affects an estimated 29.1 million people in the United States and is the 7th leading cause of death. T2DM includes a heterogeneous group of diseases that associate in different degrees two major metabolic defects: beta cell insulin secretion defect and insulin resistance of the peripheral tissues. Obesity and insulin resistance are characteristic for the majority (80 90%) of T2DM cases (Obese T2DM). The sine qua non condition for the progression from the preclinical phases (prediabetes) to the overt hyperglycemia stages is represented by the presence of the insulin secretion beta cell defect.
