Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Essay
Crafting an essay on the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn can be a formidable task, laden with
challenges that demand a profound understanding of Mark Twain's intricate narrative. One must
navigate the complexities of the characters, plot intricacies, and the underlying socio-political
commentary woven into the fabric of the novel. The story delves into themes of racism, morality,
and societal norms, making the task of dissecting and interpreting them with finesse a daunting
endeavor.
Furthermore, the need for critical analysis and an in-depth exploration of Twain's writing style
adds another layer of difficulty. The novel's regional dialect, colloquialisms, and satirical
elements require a careful examination to unravel their significance. Crafting a coherent and
well-structured essay necessitates not only a grasp of literary techniques but also a keen
awareness of the historical and cultural context that influenced Twain's work.
Moreover, engaging with the controversial aspects of the narrative, such as the portrayal of race
and slavery, demands sensitivity and nuance. Balancing a nuanced discussion while avoiding
oversimplification or overlooking the gravity of the issues at hand requires a deft touch.
In essence, an essay on the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a formidable intellectual task,
demanding a comprehensive grasp of literature, history, and social issues. However, it is through
this rigorous engagement that one can truly appreciate the richness of Twain's masterpiece.
For those seeking assistance with such essays or other academic endeavors, various resources are

She will encourage students to get educated through offering students loans and
scholarships. Through the Texas government efforts, many students will be able to go
through their education with ease. As a result, the country s skilled employee
increases, thereby increasing productivity. In addition, education enhances
innovation, and this has led to the introduction of technology and new products. The
campaign will focus on showing that education does not only improve the life of the
individual, but it also contributes largely to the overall economy. It will also focus on
measures that the governor will take to address issues that cause school dropouts such
as teen pregnancy and delinquency. One of the measures the candidate will discuss is
investing in education programs that counsel and guide the young people to reduce
schools dropouts.
The third campaign theme is illegal immigration. The position of Texas and its
economy makes illegal immigration an important subject in political campaigns. The
campaign will focus on showing the negative impacts of illegal immigration which
include pollution, increase in crimes and eroding the value of labor. Cutting illegal
immigration is vital for the country. The governor will indicate measure that Texas
will take to curb illegal immigration such as tightening border security and

How Does Scrooge Change Throughout A Christmas Carol
A Change for the Better
Published in 1843 A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens has withstood the
test of time as a classic telling the story of Scrooge as he changes for the better. He
is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, showing him his life in
segments as this happens, he finds the good in himself and changes his ways.
Scrooge has changed significantly throughout the text, specifically through his
actions, thoughts, and dialogue. To begin, Scrooge changed through his actions. At
first, Scrooge was a parsimonious, rapacious, and niggard person who was selfish
and was to above himself to care about others and their needs. Though after being
visited by the three specters he became a man who not only cared ... Show more

Scrooge now no longer thinks only of himself, but others and their needs as well.
When he first arrived back in his room after the spirits visited him, he changed
immediately through his thoughts. It s Christmas day! said Scrooge to himself I
haven t missed it. The Spirits have done it all in one night. . This shows the reader
that Scrooge now cares about Christmas and is thankful for the Spirits. He first
was annoyed and put upon that he had to be visited by them. Secondly, Scrooge
whispers to himself I ll send it to Bob Cratchit and says to the boy Come back with
the man and I ll give you a shilling, come back with him in less than five minutes,
and I ll give you a half a crown . This shows that Scrooge has changed financially as
well. This is because in the beginning Scrooge won t buy anything for himself or
others and now, he is willing to be generous with his money to those around him and
is thoughtful of others less fortunate than him, he shows this through his thoughts
when he thinks about how Bob Cratchit only could afford a small turkey for his
large family and decides to help him and purchase a massive turkey so that his
family would be fed well on Christmas and afterward with leftovers. In The Christmas
Carol Scrooge changes through his
Organ Donation Vs. No Pay For Organ Donors
When faced with the argument of paying organ donors versus no pay for organ
donors, the tension between both parties could be cut with a knife. Meanwhile,
there s thousands of patients on the organ waiting list to date, some being fortunate
while others aren t. In other words, these patients are dying because their life is
depending on people that aren t willing to donate. There are many who agree that
paying an organ donor doesn t have to belittle the virtue of one s beliefs, but
instead a chance to save thousands. To begin with, the number of people on the
waiting list for a transplant is substantially growing every year and volunteers to
donate are decreasing by the second. The dire need of organ donors is shown: In
the U.S., for instance, more than 98,000 people are waiting for kidney s,
according to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, or OPTN. Last
Year, more 4,500 people in the U.S died waiting for kidneys. Meanwhile, the
number of kidney donor has fallen steadily for the past several years, to 13,040 in
2012, despite growing need. (Aleccia 1) These numbers are alarming especially
since this is only the need for kidney s, imagine the thousands of others who need a
liver, lung and etc. The waiting list used to bring hope to those in need but now it s
only keeping count of who might pass next. Keeping that in mind, researchers have
come up with the idea of possibly paying those who donated their organs for the well
being of others. However, there was a
Racial Segregation And Its Effects On The Job Of African...
Different sorts of separation exist inside of the working environment of today.
These demonstrations of predisposition, whether conferred purposely or
unknowingly, add to unfair employing and special practices. The US Break even
with Circumstance Commission characterizes race separation as treating
individuals distinctively in view of their race or the shading of their skin. This
segregation gets to be unlawful when it introduces a harming impact on the job of
the people of a specific race or shading. For instance, if there is a no facial hair
vocation arrangement that applies to all men in the work environment, without
concern to race, it may in any case be illicit in the event that it is not occupation
related and has a destructive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At whatever point people feel as if they have been oppressed in the working
environment, it makes a not exactly alluring workplace with genuine impacts on the
people. It doesn t simply influence the individual; the dispositions of kindred laborers
should likewise be considered. At whatever point separation exists in the work
environment, it has a tendency to bring down the confidence, and everybody is less
beneficial (Hopkins, 1980). As per the literature, two components ought to be
incorporated, which have the best effect in comprehension the view of segregation,
are the accompanying: The characteristics of the individuals who perceive they are
being discriminated. The nature of the perceptions of their current employment
situation. Note that a singular s state of mind, instruction level, and family
circumstance are every contributing component which could make the recognition
that an individual is being oppressed (Hopkins, 1980). It is crucial that each
association concentrate on both goal and subjective segregation. With the history,
cases, and claims of segregation in the work environment, it simple to see that the law
is clear about this subject. The incongruity in this is that cases exist where whites
have documented suits for opposite segregation, because of governmental policy
regarding minorities in society. Working environment separation is miserable and
illicit, however being denied an advancement, in light of

The Effect Of Vitamin C On Concentration Essay
Leo Fauvel Michael Bruce AS91387
VITAMIN C CONCENTRATION
Purpose
The purpose of this investigation was to study the effects of vitamin C decreasing in
concentration over time after being exposed to oxygen. This occurs by the ascorbic
acid (which is the organic molecule known as vitamin C) breaking down in the
process of oxygen in an oxidation reaction. Enzymes in the citrus fruits increase the
rate of oxidation. A deaeration step minimizes amount of oxygen so the amount of
ascorbic acid lost is minimized.
Vitamin C, also known as L ascorbic acid, is a water soluble vitamin that is
naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary
supplement. Humans, unlike most animals, are unable to synthesize vitamin C
endogenously, so it is an essential dietary component This means that it s important
for Humans to get vitamin C from somewhere, and if they choose to get it through
drinking juice then we will see what amounts they need to drink in order to keep up
a healthy intake, and how long it will take before the juice doesn t supply enough.
Hypothesis
Our expectation for this experiment is that the levels of vitamin C concentration will
constantly reduce over time.

Letter To School Dress Code
I am writing this letter to explain how harmful and diminishing our school dress code
is. School dress codes sustain sexism, rape culture, and victim blaming. This school
should rise above these standards and put a stop to this, especially with the safe
environment you are guaranteeing.
In my experience at The Pembroke Hill School I have noticed that girls are targeted
for violating school dress code policies far more than boys are. Most of the dress
code is addressed towards girls, and honestly it is not okay. Obviously there should
be a school dress code, but it should be to teach students what they can and cannot
wear in public as adults, rather than to body shame them. When the message is saying

Seventeen Magazine Case Summary
Background In 2012, there was a popular online campaign by an 8th grader, Julia
Bluhm, against the major teen girl magazine Seventeen. Bluhm, who was only
fourteen at the time, made a petition on Change.org titled Seventeen Magazine: Give
Girls Images of Real Girls! . The petition requested that the magazine print one
unaltered photo spread per month. After only a few months of starting the campaign,
Bluhm and a group of teenage girls collectively presented the petition with 84,000
signatures to Seventeen offices in New York City. This was paired with protests by
the girls outside the offices, with signs stating things like teen girls against Photoshop
. Bluhm was successful in her campaign against Seventeen Magazine, who shortly
thereafter announced... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The editor would need to value both potential losses (1. readers trust, 2. model
trust) against each other, weighing which one would impact the magazine most if
lost. What s at Stake The ethical issue presented to the editor has more to do with
efficiency than legality. Due to tradeoff being which of the two trusts: models trust
vs readers trust, the editor is willing to sacrifice, the issue is then which is the
more efficient option. Which trust would be less likely damaged if challenged, or
which would do the least overall damage to the magazine if lost. Valuing what is at
stake once the decision has been made, can help make the choice for the editor.
Perhaps, the age of the readers, as most are young, teenage girls, increases the stake
of the readers trust. Similarly, threatening the model s image with a bad spread, could
have long standing repercussions. Specifically, in this situation were the editor is
trying to decide between the two options, but limited additional information is
available, the possibility of losing readers trust versus losing the trust of a model
must be evaluated. Know

The Invasion of D-Day Essay
Introduction
The invasion of D Day is the largest joint sea born invasion in the history of the
world. Although very well planned, the amphibious landings were a gamble made by
the Allied forces to gain foothold in Europe. Every American has heard about the
Allied invasion of German occupied Western Europe on D Day. However, how many
Americans stop and think about how much planning, preparation and luck that went
into making it the success that it is remembered for? I will attempt to depict what it
took to conquer the Normandy beaches using historical and military facts that make it
such an iconic event in the world s history still today.

They used lessons learned from the unsuccessful Dieppe raid to assist identifying
parameters for the landing site, such as: it needed to be within range of fighters from
England, within reach of a major port, suitable for prolonged operations, and have
beach defenses that could be suppressed with bombing and bombardment.6 The
resulting answer was a section of Norwegian coast between Caen and Cherbourg.
In July 1942 the first draft of Overlord plan was completed by COSSAC, and by
August the Operation Overlord plan was approved by the CCS. Lieutenant General
Dwight D. Eisenhower was appointed as Supreme Commander for Operation
Overlord. General Sir Bernard Montgomery is given command of the 21st Army

The Allies identified five separate beaches for the invasion of Normandy. The
Americans would assault the two beaches in the west, named Utah and Omaha. In
the east, British and Canadian forces would assault Gold, Juno, and Sword
Beaches. Airborne units would be deployed to land on the flanks of Utah and
Sword beaches. The main objectives planned for the first day would be to
consolidate the beaches into one beach head, secure the main avenues of travel to
and from the beaches, and secure the city of Caen. The following days would include

Essay about Princess Diana and Voyeurism
Princess Diana and Voyeurism
Perhaps the best way to think of it is as a war. On one side are the Hollywood stars
with their armies of agents, managers, lawyers, publicists, handlers, personal
assistants and, of course, bodyguards. And on the other side are the paparazzi
guerrilla warriors armed with cameras, whose job it is to break through the stars
defenses, steal small parts of their souls and sell them to the highest bidder. The
lengths to which paparazzi will go to get the shot are legendary hiding out in trees,
digging through garbage and spitting on the stars in order to shoot their reactions.
Car chases and helicopter surveillance seem to be routine. And there s very little the
stars can do about it. Even the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, one must question the reasoning behind Charles Spencer s statement, for
when the issue at stake, celebrities and there relationship with paparazzi and public
voyeurism, is really examined, the topic becomes rather complicated.
Princess Diana had a very complex and sometimes symbiotic relationship with the
paparazzi who covered her. In fact one reason why she was so loved, so followed
and so revered is because the paparazzi constantly kept her image in the public eye.
She was constantly portrayed as a sort of fairy tale princess, a lady of elegance and
class who somehow connected with the poor and downtrodden people regular
everyday people and in this way she gained the publics admiration and
unfortunately their desire to know all the details about her life, including her
personal agenda. There s no doubt Diana cultivated and used the press to her
advantage during her life in the spotlight. A woman who s been followed by the
press as much as she has does not embrace her Egyptian lover in public on a boat
where she knows there are going to be people floating around offshore taking
pictures unless she means to make a statement (Levine, 52). She, like many other
stars and celebrity figures, played a game of sometimes hard to get and sometimes of
great accessibility with the photographers who

Sexual Violence In Correctional Facilities
Correctional institutions are the institutions that serve as rehabilitation centers with
aims of correcting offensive acts. The most common corrective institution is a prison
that serves not only as a corrective facility but also serves as a venue to instill
vocational skills and academic knowledge to inmates. Correctional institution set ups
have similar shape or characteristic as that of an organization with a chain of
command right from the top to the bottom (Blackburn, n.d)
Despite correctional facilities being avenues for behavior corrections, many offensive
behaviors are prevalent. These behaviors or offenses include; rape, sexual violence
among others criminal offences. According to Dumond Dumond (2015), there is a

How are correctional facilities addressing issues of rape and sexual violence?
According to Jayewardene (1981) a number of steps have been taken by several
correctional facilities in different states to address sexual violence in correctional set
up. They include;
i.Having written policies specifically related Prison Sex Violence. In some
correctional facilities, successful investigation, prevention and response to such
cases were reported. ii. Existence of Department of Corrections written policies that
seems to be working. iii. The introduction of Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003
which proves to be a successful tool in addressing sex and violence in
The Social Welfare And Import Trade Of Britain And China
Title analysis: This essay will compare the social welfare and import export trade of
Britain and China, and will evaluate the causes and consequences of the differences.
In recent years, the import and export trade has been one of the factors of the rapid
economic development of many countries, by increasing the production inputs,
labour inputs and technology investment, and promoting economic development. At
the same time, with the continuous development of economy, countries ensure the
harmonious development of society by continuously improving the country s social
welfare system, solving the problem of living in certain groups. China and UK are
import and export trading powers, and in terms of social welfare there is a huge
difference, Britain has a relatively sound social welfare system, however, because
of China s large population and it is in the development stage of the social welfare
system has many shortcomings. This essay will compare the Social Welfare and the
import and export trade between China and the Britain. Social welfare is divided
into its definition, children welfare and the elderly welfare. Import and export trade
will compare the UK s and China s comparing the products.
Britain is known for its welfare state. The word first appeared during World War II.

Figurative Language In Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings s The...
There are more than 2,400 entries submitted for a Pulitzer Prize each year and only
twenty one will win. Those are not promising odds, but in 1939, Marjorie Kinnan
Rawlings conquered those odds. Rawlings accepted the prize for her acclaimed
novel, The Yearling. The story did not receive the award, but rather Rawlings
incredible writing. Rawlings use of figurative language, sensory details, and syntax
elucidates the main character s experiences and thoughts throughout the novel. The
main character, Jody, goes through some difficult situations throughout the novel
and Rawlings writing portrays these situations with great detail. This detail is
presented through her use of sensory details, figurative language, and syntax which
are all reasons to why she received such an esteemed award. Rawlings use of
sensory details throughout her novel develops the story and brings Jody s
experiences to life. For instance, in paragraph one on page seven she writes, The
mist tickled his skin. It was scarcely wet. It was at once warm and cool. Using the
touch sense, her words give the mist a feeling rather than just stating that there is
mist. The words illustrate how the mist felt to Jody. Besides the touch sense,
Rawlings also uses sound in paragraph six on page 224, A great roaring sounded in
the distance. All the bears in the scrub, meeting at the river, might make such a
roaring. Her comparison of the sound of the winds to the sound of bears roaring
emphasizes the gravity of how
How Should Dress Codes Be Changed
In the past days as the weather has improved, I have noticed a plethora of girls being
dresscoded, to a standard I believe is inaccurate and biased. Girls are being removed
from classroom settings to no one s benefit, strict dress codes are promoting
stereotypes and negative ideas, and dresscode almost never affects guys I believe our
dress codeshould be changed due to its unfair and shaming nature. I have personally
had experiences with being removed from a classroom due to dresscode, who is that

This is the kind of thinking that leads to slut shaming girls, oppressive gender
roles, and promotion of rape culture. I know that sounds dramatic and over the top
but, all of these deep rooted issues we have in society have to start somewhere.
What are we telling our youth by treating girls based off their sexual value from a
young age?
Despite all the issues with the female dress code I have never once seen a boy
prosecuted for his clothing. I have seen boys with surfer tank tops on that are far less
than three fingers. I ve seen boys nipples from cutout shirts that they are not wearing
anything underneath, and I have seen boys with sagging pants so low you can see
their underwear and despite that being a strict no no in the handbook they are not
punished, not to mention derogatory T shirt with sexist, racist, and homophobic
things written on them, that boys constantly get away with
Theme Of Deception In Death Of A Salesman And The
Crucible
The common theme of Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman and The Crucible is
deception, more specifically, he is trying to spread a message that deception
causes problems, which is still important and relevant today. Arthur Miller portrays
this through the characters of Willy Loman and John Proctor, and more explicitly
through their deaths. In Death of a Salesman, Willy Loman, the tragic hero, is an
old salesman that has two sons, Biff and Happy. Willy had this dream that his sons
would eventually become huge and successful business men and complete the
dream that he never achieved. Willy became so set on this dream that if it were to
not happen, he would feel as if he was a failure as a father. Willy s dream that he
had turned into an expectation was not fulfilled by his sons during the play and
became one of the factors that pushed Willy to kill himself. Willy became a victim
to his own self induced deception by creating this expectation for his sons that is
just not easily possible for them to fulfill. Willy had failed to realize that this was
most likely not going to happen, which was probably his biggest flaw pushing him to
suicide. This deceptive flaw is really brought out and showed us how much it
mattered to him when it pushes him over the edge to commit suicide. Another
deceptive flaw that Willy had was failing to realize that nobody, except for his
family and neighbors, cared for him. Willy created this illusion for himself that he
was a widely respected salesman
Why Is Chillingworth Not Forgiven
Throughout the Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne debates whether under Puritan beliefs if
someone is saved and forgiven for their sins or not forgiven. Members of society
argue and decide the fate of sinners depending on the severity of the sin and their
general feelings and thoughts of a sinner, yet, hypocritically, claim their decision as
God s will. Roger Chillingworth, best representing Satan , is not forgiven for his
sins, despite willing all his wealth and belongings to Pearl, representing Conscience.
Chillingworth is not forgiven because he had no debt to repay to Pearl, representing
Conscience . Pearl and Dimmesdale had little interaction and relation to each other.

Adiabatic Process
The first thermodynamic process theory which we have believe to be applied in the
coffee maker is adiabatic process. The reason why we chose this process is because
the filter of the coffeemaker is actually made up of adiabatic materials.

This is one of the advantages for having isochoric process in the coffee maker. The
constant volume process is a thermodynamic process in which the volume of the
closed system undergoing a process remains constant. There is now work done on
or by the gas. The volume of the water during the process where the coffee was
made will not increases or decreases. Since the volume is remains constant, so there
is no work transfer. Moreover, the advantages are increasing the internal energy. The
only effect of heat transfer is to raise the internal energy level. When heat absorbed
is completely used, it changes the internal energy and also the temperature. In coffee
maker, the bottom globe is heated up. It was then become water vapour and
accumulate at the bottom globe. This causes the pressure of the bottom globe
increases while the pressure in the upper globe decreases. The change in pressure is
caused by the change in internal energy. As the internal energy increases, the pressure
also increases as well as the temperature. The relation between pressure and the
temperature is related to the Charles s law. The equation is P_1/T_1 =P_2/T_2
A Fictional Story About a Bomb at a Baptist Church by...
How many people were killed, Scout, queries Atticus. Only four Negro girls were
killed. The girls were Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, and
Denise McNair (in text citation). All of them were fourteen years old except for
Denise McNair, who was eleven years old (in text citation). Robert Chambliss (in

killed! I was at least hoping that we would kill John Cross, Junior (in text citation)!
John Cross, Junior has a very generous heart! He is the person who called for help
and looked in the rubble for any bodies or survivors, so you can stop that! Because
of what you did, John Cross, Junior is now worried about having another attack at
the church. He has to try to fight society, and that is not something that a minister
should have to do. Just because we live in Birmingham where most discriminate
against Negroes, doesn t mean you have to act that way, too, Atticus scolds me
with his lawyer voice. You don t get to talk to me that way, Atticus! I am not one of
your clients! I am your daughter! Just tell me why you did it. Did what? I respond
sarcastically. Don t act like you don t know what I m talking about. How can I
forget when all you do is talk about it? Why do you care? I m the one who had to
worry about getting caught. What if someone recognized me? Scout, why did you

William Blake s The Tyger And Walt Whitman s Poetry
The two poems that have to deal with the philosophies of human nature are William
Blake s The Tyger and Walt Whitman s Song of Myself. Blake s poem is based off
the Romantics and Walt Whitman is an American Naturalist that is based off free
verse a form that he created.
William Blake s poetry is considered through the Romantics era and they access
through the sublime. The Romantics poetry through the sublime is beyond
comprehension and spiritual fullness. A major common theme is a nature
(agnostic religion). In William Blake s poem The Tyger he describes the tiger as a
creature that was created by a higher power some time before. In Blake s poem he
questions, What immortal hand or eye/ Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? (Blake
22 23). He describes the tiger as a form of symmetry that can be seen as evil, yet
have intriguing features such as those that make the tiger a beautiful creation. Blake
also questions if that the higher being who created the tiger also created all else
around the world such as a human being. Blake shifts his first stanzas from the tiger
to the creator. Not only is he questioning who created the tiger, but he is also
describing the beauty and evil of the world. The beauty that the Romantics believe in
is nature and one evil seen through the world is materialism that distract humans from
the beauty of nature s gifts. He believes that people lose touch with spirituality when
haven t given to nature. Blake also illustrated his own works through
Roles Of Women During The Revolutionary War

Women During the Revolutionary War Most documents of the American Revolution
have accounts of different men playing key roles in the war, but they were not the
only ones who helped America gain its freedom from Britain. In the Revolutionary
War, women also played important roles, and they were often active in their homes
and the politics as well as in the battlefield. Women were also fundamental to the
victorious outcome of the American Revolution.
When the British Parliament imposed the taxes onto the colonies, the tensions
between the two accumulated to a peak where a revolution would finally occur. In the
course of the pre revolution, most women assisted in their homes by boycotting ...

Women who followed their husbands into the battlefield were known as camp
followers. These were the women who took care of the sewing and washing of
clothes, cooking, and providing medical aid to soldiers. Some women also acted as
spies for the Continental Army. Since men thought that women were often slow with
complex military strategies, they were not cautious of themselves with women
around, Therefore, women served as great spies in the midst of their enemies by
listening for significant information. Other women played vital roles in battles. One
woman in particular, Deborah Sampson, took the role of a man under her dead
brother s name, Robert Shurtliff to fight in the war. In the Battle of Monmouth,
Mary Ludwig Hays, otherwise known as Molly Pitcher, was in charge of giving
water to soldiers, but she had to replace her injured husband in firing the artillery. In
addition, a teenage girl named Sybil Ludington, known as the female Paul Revere,
informed the militia of a British attack near Danbury, Connecticut.
Today, we discover the prevailing women of different classes and color who stood
alongside men in the American Revolution, whether it be by boycotting British
goods, voicing their opinions, or actively participating in the battlefields. Women
were avid patriots of gaining liberty and freedom in America, and they served the
country in every way that they can for their cause to become reality. Women took
Psychological Terror In Lemony Snicket s A Series Of...
Everyone has something that scares them, that is frightening more than blood or
violence. More often than not many people are frightened by a physiological thriller
rather than one which is simply all gore. Lemony Snicket s a Series of Unfortunate
Events, is exactly that, a psychological terror that is centered around a series of
probable unfortunate events. Although, this movie may be lined with satirical
comedy, it s main storyline is rather gothic in nature. The gothic nature of this movie
is developed by its realism in its villain, plot line, and characters. Lemony Snickets A
Series of Unfortunate Events, is about three young children whose parents died
unexpectedly in a house fire, leaving them orphaned. The three children are left to
their closest relative, Count Olaf, a narcissistic struggling actor who is a horribly
unsuitable parent. It is made apparent early on that Count Olaf is only after the
Baudelaire children s inheritance. He quickly figures out he has no access to the
money, and neither do the children, until Violet the oldest turns 18, or the children
die. The entire movie is based around Count Olaf s many attempts to claim the
money. For example; marrying Violet, killing off a distant relative, leaving the
children locked in a car on train tracks, ect. Count Olaf s first play at the money, is
forcing Violet to marry him by holding, Sunny hostage until after the wedding. He
disguises the wedding as a play and cons a judge into officiating the wedding.

Comparison of Mid Term Break, The Field Mouse, and On My First Sonne
The above poems are written by 3 different people and on reading them they seem to
be about very different things. But at heart, they are about death and the pain that
appears afterwards. Seamus Heaney s
Mid Term Break is a memory of his four year old brother s death.
Gillian Clarke s The Field Mouse is about death in a political conflict compared to a
death in nature. Finally On My First Sonne by
Ben Johnson is about the death of his son and the religious view of the situation.
Both Heaney and Johnson s poems are about the death of a close loved one and how
it is dealt with emotionally and in reality. On looking at the title of Heaney s poem,
you almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also shows that his son was possibly the only bright point in his life and that he
feels since he has been taken away, he has almost no reason to live. After this event
he also feels that you shouldn t get to attached to something as he says As what he
loves may never like too much. This obviously means that whatever you love, don t
get attached to it, as you will end up losing it.
Clarke, on the other hand, has a more general observation to death and tells it from
the sort of view most people might have on war or conflict. Like Heaney s Mid
Term Break, when you see the title of
Clark s poem you assume that it will be a happy poem about a cute and cuddly
mouse. This theory is almost exactly the opposite of what the poem is actually about.
You can see that the poem is about the death and destruction in Bosnia War and
compares it to the death and destruction that occurs while harvesting.
This poem again is a memory like Mid Term Break, and at the end it shows her feeling
and attitude towards war and violence. You can tell that her feelings are negative
since she writes the line my neighbour turned stranger . This I think means that
people you once were good friends with would now become your enemy. So unlike
the other 2 poems where it tells that death is a natural occurrence, this poem tells that
a person s main enemy is another person that could possibly be your best friend.
In Johnson s poem you can tell he is a very religious
Geslalt Psychology
Gestalt psychology means unified whole. Gestalt psychology does not look at things
as individual elements but as a whole. The three main founders who established the
school of gestalt psychology were Max Wertheimer, Kurt Koffka as well as Wolfgang
Kohler. The foundations of the Gestalt psychology are perception, memory and
learning. Some of the principles of Gestalt psychologyare isomorphism, productive
thinking as well as reproductive thinking which will be elaborated in this essay. One
of the main contributions of Gestalt psychologyis Gestalt therapy which focuses on
helping an individual understand their internal self and the difference of what they
experience and interpretation of events.
Gestalt is a psychology term which means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This shows that the pattern of a person s conscious experience or perception is
structurally similar to the patterns of the activity of the brain. The isomorphism
discussed in gestalt theory is mainly functional isomorphism. Behavior of a system
as if it was physically similar in shape. It can only be assumed as the exact
geometrical configuration of the brain but cannot be observed phenomenological.
Productive thinking will lead to an understanding of the relationships between the
objects in a problem which will in turn lead to an abstract thought process which
can be applied to future problems. Productive thinking is used when there is no
obvious answer to the problem. It basically requires the individual to think out of
the box to get to the answer. For example, in the Two String Problem experiment,
participants were asked to enter a room where to strings were tie at each end of the
room and was impossible to grasp both at the same time. At the same time a pair of
pliers was also found in the room. Participants were asked to tie both strings together.
This situation required participants to perceive the relationship between the objects
and relate it to the question that they were asked. The way to resolve this problem
was to use the pliers to act as pendulums to give the strings some weight so that it can
be further extended and participant can then pull these extended strings towards each
other and tie it.
Essay about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart baptized as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus
Theophilus Mozart lived from January 27, 1756 to December 5, 1791. Mozart was
a very influential and prolific composer of more than 600 works, including
symphonies, concertante, chamber, piano, opera, and choral music. Regarded as a
child prodigy, Mozart composed and performed in the European courts from the
age of five, and was engaged at the Salzburg court at 17. Mozart s musical style can
be classified as Classical, although he learned from many of his contemporaries
throughout his musical career. In order to better understand Mozart s genius it is best

While at the Salzburg court, Mozart composed his only violin concertos, as well as
his first piano concertos. However, Mozart grew discontent with his work at court
when his desire to work on operas was not encouraged. Mozart began looking for
alternative employment in 1777 with a journey to Paris with his mother. While on
his tour of Paris, he had financial difficulty, and fell to pawning valuables. While he
was gone, his father worked to secure a better position for Mozart in the Salzburg
court, and after the death of his mother, Mozart returned to Salzburg. However, his
discontent was little diminished, and he left for Vienna in 1781. There, he worked
as a freelance composer and performer, and established himself as one of the best
keyboard players in Vienna. This period of Mozart s life saw his marriage to
Constanze Weber, as well as moderately great success with his opera Die EntfГјhrung
aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio). Over the next few years,
Mozart mounted a number of concerts featuring himself as a piano soloist which
pushed him to great success and high accolades from his audience. Mozart also
began to realize moderate financial success, which led him to adopt a more opulent
lifestyle. Incidentally, this increase in lifestyle would lead to financial difficulties
later. Around 1786, Mozart began collaborating with Lorenzo Da Ponte on two very
successful operas, The Marriage of Figaro, and Don Giovanni. Soon after, Mozart

Labor Law Whistle Blowing Dillema Essay
Labor Law Whistle Blowing Dillema Labor relations today, are quite different from
those that existed in England during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries when
employment relationships were considered of very little importance in the eyes of
the law. Industrialization and commerce grew bringing with it the birth of modem
day labor law. America was in no way exempt from the pain of progress. Employer
and employee relationships were strained from the very beginning of labor, and it
soon was evident that government intervention would be necessary to keep the labor
movement on track. Several statues have been enacted since the early nineteenth
century to deal with management and unions. Evidence can be seen from the Norris

(2) The active whistle blower describes employees that voice their concerns over
illegal activity conducted by their employer, and take steps either internally or
externally to expose such activity. The active whistle blower usually creates the
most controversy because this person is under the employ of the people or
organization who are the object of the complaint (Westman 21). (3) The embryonic
whistle blower describes employees who have been terminated before they have the
opportunity to expose their employers practices. These employees are usually
terminated because the employer suspects that they represent a potentially sensitive
or unfavorable predicament (Westman 22). The various forms of retribution that
whistle blowers endure at the hands of employers both financially and
psychologically for attempting to correct mismanagement, fraud, and dishonesty are
often too much for the whistle blower to bear. Careers are in jeopardy because
individuals with strong ethics decide to pursue law suits against their employers.
One example is where the US Forest Service employees found their careers ruined
by either demotions or loss of jobs when caught speaking out in favor of the

In fact there will never was, nor will there ever be, a time that would surpass the
horror humanity faced during the outbreak. We were put through a trial. Some
passed and some failed. The worst traits of humanity were exposed during the
outbreak. But at the same time, the best traits shone so brightly that the darkness
of humanity dissipated. It was the survivors that fought to get our lives back who
had these traits. Many credit me with bringing together so many people, with
different ideals, to fight back or bringing out the best in people because I inspired
them. That was not true. It was thanks to true humanity. The humanity I always

Ways Of Seeing By John Berger

Ways of Seeing by John Berger is a set of essays used to explain different
techniques used in oil paintings, advertisements, and the way people look at things
differently from one another. The abstract image Altera Pars by Wojciech Grzanka
is a part of his surreal photo manipulation series called It s All In My Head . In this
image a woman clearly with two sets of arms shows that she is control of how and
what she feels. Her attire shows mixed feelings on how she wants to be looked at.
She is wearing a dress that fades away towards the bottom and underneath she is
wearing pants. She stands comfortably in a room that is grungy and dirty. Women
and men should not be condemned to live up to society s expectations of what is
right and wrong. The third chapter in Ways of Seeing focuses on the idea that women
and men have a different social presence. A mans presence is supposed to represent
how much power he has. The more power a man has the more grand and important
he seems to other people. It represents what he can do to people and for people. A
woman s presence is represented by how she views herself and what she is willing
to deal with from other people. She is also defined by her clothes, her actions,
opinions, and what or who she is surrounded by. She has to act as if she was two
different people, she is to observe herself and pay attention to the presentation of
herself as other people do. Their

The Testament Of The Old Testament
The Old Testament is divided into many sections. Each has its own purpose and its
own style of writing. The first section of the Old Testament is known as the
Pentateuch and contains the first five books of the Bible.. It includes the books of
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The next section, the
historical books, tell the history of the Israelite people. This section includes the
books of Judges, Kings, and Esther. The third section, the wisdom books, contain
ideals on morality and guidance on how the Israelitesshould live their life. Finally, the
Prophetic books, the fourth section, is composed of the writings of the prophets, God
s messengers, to Israel.
Inside each section of the Old Testament, however, each book follows the life of a
different person and story of the Israelite people. Some books in the Historical
section mention the faithfulness of the Israelites, and others focus on how far the
tribe has wandered from the ways. One book in particular differs from every other
book in the Bible. That difference is that it doesn t mention God or God s message.
That book is called Esther. The book of Esther is about the Israelite people while
they are in the Persian kingdom. A man named Mordecai, one of the Israelites,
worked for the Persian King Ahasuerus. One day Mordecai overheard two guards
conspiring to kill the King. Mordecai informed the king and thus saved him. This
earned Mordecai favor in the court. However, another of the king s

Transportation is the number one thing we consumers do that harms the environment.
Transportation causes the highest amount of environmental damage overall nearly
half of the toxic air pollution and more than a quarter of the greenhouse gases
traceable to household consumption. Over time, however, sales of trucks, vans and
SUV s went from 16% market share to over 50%. One big auto manufacturer even
shelved their work of the last three years, spent updating their most popular selling
economy car, so they could spend the money getting SUVs to market faster.
Many people buy SUVs for safety purposes, not realizing they are among the most
hazardous vehicles on the road. An Insurance Institute for Highway Safety study
shows that SUVs are more dangerous than mid sized cars. There are 75 deaths for
every million SUVs in accidents, compared to 48 for mid sized cars. Half of all
occupant deaths in SUVs in 1995 were caused by single vehicle rollovers; rollovers
account for 36 percent of the deaths in pick up trucks and 19 percent in cars. I think
of this every time I read about an SUV rollover accident in The Union. Further,
these quot;mobile billboards quot; block the view of the road ahead for everyone
behind them, as well as oncoming traffic (ever tried to turn from Pine onto Broad
Street in Nevada City and one s parked on the corner?).
Even though SUVs are frequently marketed as safer than cars, they are in fact more
dangerous.

German economies plunged into turmoil. Germany inherited all war responsibility
in the form of severe monetary reparation, while Italy found itself left out of
consideration for war reparation payments. For these reasons the Treaty of Versailles
had a severe weakening effect on the German and Italian States after World War I,
which created the need for change in those countries. As Arthur Koestler, a former
member of the communist party during the 1930s wrote, they were Ripe for it
[Change] . (Backman, 217) Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitlerused this to their
advantage and were able to overthrow the existing governments with the backing of

Like in Germany, the Italian public perceived the Treaty of Versailles as unfair
since it allowed them no reparation payments for the war despite the fact that they
switched sides and aided the Allies at the end of the war. In his An Encyclopedia of
Pacifism Aldous Huxley, a writer living in Italy during the 1930s wrote, The fabric
of Russian society [has] been reduced to chaos by the impact of the war. [This] gave
the revolutionaries their opportunity; violently, they seized it. (Backman 214) Like
Russia after the war, Italy was also reduced to chaos. The government was unable to
effectively solve the problem of impoverishment the Italian nation was facing. This,
along with the Italian government s inability to negotiate better terms in the Treaty of
Versailles, caused the Italian people to become disillusioned with their government.
Benito Mussolini grasps this opportunity, like in Russia, by violence in the form of
the Blackshirt march on Rome. He demanded to be made Prime Minister and was
met with little resistance. The German and Italian nations faced great challenges after
the war, and the governments of said nations were unable to handle the problems with
any efficacy. This precipitated a weakening of faith in German and Italian
governments which led to the rise of Totalitarianism in

Origin of Buddhism in China
Over a long period of time, Buddhism has been an important part of Chinese culture
dating all the way back to the Han Dynasty. It was originally apart of Indian culture
but on would move to China and become a major part of Chinese life. These cultural
interactions that became regularly between China and India affected the people
first. The Indian religion most likely was brought by the Silk Road. The Silk Road

These two dynasties emphasized the importance of Buddhism and they centralized
everything that Buddhism was about through the government. By having this religion
centralizing the government and shaping society people would form a conscience
shape by Buddhism. Also once Buddhism shaped everyone in the society this would
continue for generations and this would be a major part of the educational system.
The government would make the effort to require all Buddhist practices and rituals.
One of the most important things that developed during these time periods and both
dynasties were the school systems. The schools were strictly for Buddhism and
Buddhist teachings, some examples are the Tiantai, Huayan, Chan, and Pure Land
schools. All of these schools were full of children who wanted to learn Buddhism but
also there were adults and new people who wanted to learn the religion. Another part
that made Buddhism successful during this time period was that the state or
government control the monasteries rather than the people. By the government
having control over all of the monasteries they could control all Buddhist activities
that were to be done and control times of worship. They could implement their own
practices that they. Believed that the people should take on but also they could take
out things that they didn t want the people to do in their worship. By being able to

This shows the reader that Scrooge now cares about Christmas and is thankful for the Spirits. He first was annoyed and put upon that he had to be visited by them. Secondly, Scrooge whispers to himself I ll send it to Bob Cratchit and says to the boy Come back with the man and I ll give you a shilling, come back with him in less than five minutes, and I ll give you a half a crown . This shows that Scrooge has changed financially as well. Meanwhile, there s thousands of patients on the organ waiting list to date, some being fortunate while others aren t. In other words, these patients are dying because their life is depending on people that aren t willing to donate. There are many who agree that paying an organ donor doesn t have to belittle the virtue of one s beliefs, but instead a chance to save thousands. To begin with, the number of people on the waiting list for a transplant is substantially growing every year and volunteers to donate are decreasing by the second. The dire need of organ donors is shown: In the U.S., for instance, more than 98,000 people are waiting for kidney s, according to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, or OPTN. Last Year, more 4,500 people in the U.S died waiting for kidneys. Meanwhile, the number of kidney donor has fallen steadily for the past several years, to 13,040 in 2012, despite growing need. Keeping that in mind, researchers have come up with the idea of possibly paying those who donated their organs for the well being of others. However, there was a

The Effect Of Vitamin C On Concentration Essay Leo Fauvel Michael Bruce AS91387 VITAMIN C CONCENTRATION Purpose The purpose of this investigation was to study the effects of vitamin C decreasing in concentration over time after being exposed to oxygen. This occurs by the ascorbic acid (which is the organic molecule known as vitamin C) breaking down in the process of oxygen in an oxidation reaction. Enzymes in the citrus fruits increase the rate of oxidation. A deaeration step minimizes amount of oxygen so the amount of ascorbic acid lost is minimized. Vitamin C, also known as L ascorbic acid, is a water soluble vitamin that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Humans, unlike most animals, are unable to synthesize vitamin C endogenously, so it is an essential dietary component This means that it s important for Humans to get vitamin C from somewhere, and if they choose to get it through drinking juice then we will see what amounts they need to drink in order to keep up a healthy intake, and how long it will take before the juice doesn t supply enough. Hypothesis Our expectation for this experiment is that the levels of vitamin C concentration will constantly reduce over time. The story did not receive the award, but rather Rawlings incredible writing. Rawlings use of figurative language, sensory details, and syntax elucidates the main character s experiences and thoughts throughout the novel. The main character, Jody, goes through some difficult situations throughout the novel and Rawlings writing portrays these situations with great detail. Rawlings use of sensory details throughout her novel develops the story and brings Jody s experiences to life. For instance, in paragraph one on page seven she writes, The mist tickled his skin. Theme Of Deception In Death Of A Salesman And The Crucible The common theme of Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman and The Crucible is deception, more specifically, he is trying to spread a message that deception causes problems, which is still important and relevant today. Arthur Miller portrays this through the characters of Willy Loman and John Proctor, and more explicitly through their deaths. In Death of a Salesman, Willy Loman, the tragic hero, is an old salesman that has two sons, Biff and Happy. Willy had this dream that his sons would eventually become huge and successful business men and complete the dream that he never achieved. Willy became so set on this dream that if it were to not happen, he would feel as if he was a failure as a father. Willy s dream that he had turned into an expectation was not fulfilled by his sons during the play and became one of the factors that pushed Willy to kill himself. Willy became a victim to his own self induced deception by creating this expectation for his sons that is just not easily possible for them to fulfill. Willy had failed to realize that this was most likely not going to happen, which was probably his biggest flaw pushing him to suicide. This deceptive flaw is really brought out and showed us how much it mattered to him when it pushes him over the edge to commit suicide. Another deceptive flaw that Willy had was failing to realize that nobody, except for his family and neighbors, cared for him. Willy created this illusion for himself that he was a widely respected salesman

The constant volume process is a thermodynamic process in which the volume of the closed system undergoing a process remains constant. There is now work done on or by the gas. The volume of the water during the process where the coffee was made will not increases or decreases. Since the volume is remains constant, so there is no work transfer. Moreover, the advantages are increasing the internal energy. The only effect of heat transfer is to raise the internal energy level. When heat absorbed is completely used, it changes the internal energy and also the temperature. In coffee maker, the bottom globe is heated up. It was then become water vapour and accumulate at the bottom globe. This causes the pressure of the bottom globe increases while the pressure in the upper globe decreases. Blake s poem is based off the Romantics and Walt Whitman is an American Naturalist that is based off free verse a form that he created. William Blake s poetry is considered through the Romantics era and they access through the sublime. The Romantics poetry through the sublime is beyond comprehension and spiritual fullness. A major common theme is a nature (agnostic religion). In William Blake s poem The Tyger he describes the tiger as a creature that was created by a higher power some time before. In Blake s poem he questions, What immortal hand or eye/ Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? (Blake 22 23). He describes the tiger as a form of symmetry that can be seen as evil, yet have intriguing features such as those that make the tiger a beautiful creation. Blake also questions if that the higher being who created the tiger also created all else around the world such as a human being. Blake shifts his first stanzas from the tiger to the creator. Not only is he questioning who created the tiger, but he is also describing the beauty and evil of the world. The beauty that the Romantics believe in is nature and one evil seen through the world is materialism that distract humans from the beauty of nature s gifts. He believes that people lose touch with spirituality when haven t given to nature. Blake also illustrated his own works through

Women who followed their husbands into the battlefield were known as camp followers. These were the women who took care of the sewing and washing of clothes, cooking, and providing medical aid to soldiers. Some women also acted as spies for the Continental Army. Since men thought that women were often slow with complex military strategies, they were not cautious of themselves with women around, Therefore, women served as great spies in the midst of their enemies by listening for significant information. Other women played vital roles in battles. One woman in particular, Deborah Sampson, took the role of a man under her dead brother s name, Robert Shurtliff to fight in the war. In the Battle of Monmouth, Mary Ludwig Hays, otherwise known as Molly Pitcher, was in charge of giving water to soldiers, but she had to replace her injured husband in firing the artillery. In addition, a teenage girl named Sybil Ludington, known as the female Paul Revere, informed the militia of a British attack near Danbury, Connecticut. More often than not many people are frightened by a physiological thriller rather than one which is simply all gore. Lemony Snicket s a Series of Unfortunate Events, is exactly that, a psychological terror that is centered around a series of probable unfortunate events. Although, this movie may be lined with satirical comedy, it s main storyline is rather gothic in nature. The gothic nature of this movie is developed by its realism in its villain, plot line, and characters. Lemony Snickets A Series of Unfortunate Events, is about three young children whose parents died unexpectedly in a house fire, leaving them orphaned. The three children are left to their closest relative, Count Olaf, a narcissistic struggling actor who is a horribly unsuitable parent. It is made apparent early on that Count Olaf is only after the Baudelaire children s inheritance. He quickly figures out he has no access to the money, and neither do the children, until Violet the oldest turns 18, or the children die. Count Olaf s first play at the money, is forcing Violet to marry him by holding, Sunny hostage until after the wedding. He disguises the wedding as a play and cons a judge into officiating the wedding.

Comparison of Mid Term Break, The Field Mouse, and On My First Sonne The above poems are written by 3 different people and on reading them they seem to be about very different things. But at heart, they are about death and the pain that appears afterwards. Seamus Heaney s Mid Term Break is a memory of his four year old brother s death. Gillian Clarke s The Field Mouse is about death in a political conflict compared to a death in nature. Finally On My First Sonne by Ben Johnson is about the death of his son and the religious view of the situation. Both Heaney and Johnson s poems are about the death of a close loved one and how it is dealt with emotionally and in reality. On looking at the title of Heaney s poem, you almost ... After this event he also feels that you shouldn t get to attached to something as he says As what he loves may never like too much. This obviously means that whatever you love, don t get attached to it, as you will end up losing it. Clarke, on the other hand, has a more general observation to death and tells it from the sort of view most people might have on war or conflict. Like Heaney s Mid Term Break, when you see the title of Clark s poem you assume that it will be a happy poem about a cute and cuddly mouse. This theory is almost exactly the opposite of what the poem is actually about. You can see that the poem is about the death and destruction in Bosnia War and compares it to the death and destruction that occurs while harvesting. This poem again is a memory like Mid Term Break, and at the end it shows her feeling and attitude towards war and violence. You can tell that her feelings are negative since she writes the line my neighbour turned stranger . This I think means that people you once were good friends with would now become your enemy. So unlike the other 2 poems where it tells that death is a natural occurrence, this poem tells that a person s main enemy is another person that could possibly be your best friend. Productive thinking is used when there is no obvious answer to the problem. It basically requires the individual to think out of the box to get to the answer. For example, in the Two String Problem experiment, participants were asked to enter a room where to strings were tie at each end of the room and was impossible to grasp both at the same time. At the same time a pair of pliers was also found in the room. Participants were asked to tie both strings together. This situation required participants to perceive the relationship between the objects and relate it to the question that they were asked. The way to resolve this problem was to use the pliers to act as pendulums to give the strings some weight so that it can be further extended and participant can then pull these extended strings towards each other and tie it.

In this image a woman clearly with two sets of arms shows that she is control of how and what she feels. Her attire shows mixed feelings on how she wants to be looked at. She is wearing a dress that fades away towards the bottom and underneath she is wearing pants. She stands comfortably in a room that is grungy and dirty. Women and men should not be condemned to live up to society s expectations of what is right and wrong. The third chapter in Ways of Seeing focuses on the idea that women and men have a different social presence. A mans presence is supposed to represent how much power he has. The more power a man has the more grand and important he seems to other people. It represents what he can do to people and for people. A woman s presence is represented by how she views herself and what she is willing to deal with from other people. She is also defined by her clothes, her actions, opinions, and what or who she is surrounded by. She has to act as if she was two different people, she is to observe herself and pay attention to the presentation of herself as other people do. Their
