Oracle Alta UI Patterns for Enterprise Applications and Responsive UI Supportandrejusb
Alta UI brings ADF enterprise application to a completely new level. Forget about plain boring interfaces from the past, nowadays enterprise users should have much cleaner and robust interfaces for the job to be done. This is where Alta UI comes into play - it offers a set of ready made patterns, developers could use them for dashboards and CRUD screens. Besides modern and appealing UI patterns, Alta UI provides support for UI responsiveness. This enables to render the same screens on different devices, with different screen resolutions. Displayed content is adjusted automatically, based on the available screen size. Attendees are going to learn how to upgrade to Alta UI and how to use the most of its offered functionality.
How can you make sure that your next web application supports not only the desktop browser, but also all the other devices and screen sizes? And that it can efficiently talk to backend services in a bidirectional way? With new concepts for client-side development like responsive web design and hybrid web applications, and with new APIs for WebSocket, REST services, JSON and more, Java EE 7 with HTML5 may be the best combination to meet your needs. In this keynote, see how you can efficiently develop such an application, and how advanced integrated tools can help you with both server and client code.
A-Team Mobile Persistence Accelerator OverviewSteven Davelaar
A-Team Mobile Persistence Accelerator (AMPA) is a lightweight persistence and data synchronization framework that works on top of Oracle MAF, and is available on GitHub under open source license . AMPA eases the consumption of RESTful services and provides a complete persistence layer that allows you to use the mobile application in offline mode. To prevent mobile apps being discarded after first usage, it is extremely important that apps offer the right information at the right time, in the proper context. Various technologies are available to achieve this, in this presentation we will focus on beacons and augmented reality (AR). Beacons are small, bluetooth low-energy devices that can be used to detect mobile device proximity with high accuracy, allowing you to provide tailored, just-in-time communication with the user of your mobile app. This presentation includes a number of demos of location-aware apps, and introduces a generic beacon platform included with Oracle Mobile Cloud Service that allows you to quickly and easily build mobile apps with such types of microproximity services. It also provides examples how AR can be combined with beacons to further enhance the user experience.

18 Invaluable Lessons About ADF-JSF InteractionSteven Davelaar
While coaching ADF development teams over the years, Steven has noticed that many developers lack a thorough understanding of the JSF lifecycle and how ADF optimizes this lifecycle in specific situations. As a result ADF developers who are tasked to build a seemingly simple ADF page, get extremely frustrated by the -in their eyes- unexpected or unlogical behavior of ADF.
Using simple examples, this presentation teaches you step-by-step 18 invaluable lessons which will greatly enhance your insight in how ADF and JSF work together under the covers. With this knowledge you will build your pages quicker and better, while avoiding some common mistakes.
After passing all functional tests, many web applications fail under the regular load conditions. Just 100 active users may be sufficient to cause severe errors and a decline in performance. In this session, load testing of ADF applications with the Oracle Application Testing Suite and Apache JMeter will be discussed and demonstrated. With these tools, you have an analysis-instrument to do performance analysis and regression analysis after new patches/releases. A proper managed load test also gives insight in the effects configuration parameters. The speaker will share best test practices to perform load tests and offer typical solutions for creating an efficient, scalable ADF application.

There are quite many talks about Quarkus, explaining basic development mechanics and advertising extremely small memory footprint and slim deployment artifacts. However in all those talks audience has just to "believe", almost nobody explains, how does Quarkus achieve it, what tools and approaches work under the hood. I'm going to provide a balanced explanation, giving knowledge of how it works behind the scenes, but not going into long complex theoretical stories, which make people sleep during the talk.
2019 StartIT - Boosting your performance with BlackfireMarko Mitranić
A workshop held in StartIT as part of Catena Media learning sessions.
We aim to dispel the notion that large PHP applications tend to be sluggish, resource-intensive and slow compared to what the likes of Python, Erlang or even Node can do. The issue is not with optimising PHP internals - it's the lack of proper introspection tools and getting them into our every day workflow that counts! In this workshop we will talk about our struggles with whipping PHP Applications into shape, as well as work together on some of the more interesting examples of CPU or IO drain.

The rise of cloud and containers has led to systems that are much more distributed and dynamic in nature. Highly elastic microservice and serverless architectures mean containers spin up on demand and scale to zero when that demand goes away. This generates a continous stream of infrastructure data.
On the business side, we have started storing lot of data and this data contains enormours information, specially when married with infrastructure data this gives holistic health information of the entire platform. We will talk about how to achieve this kind of fine-grained observability at scale in real-time.

Machine Learning Applied - Tabular Dataset Models and Sentiment Analysisandrejusb
Machine Learning is a hot topic these days. But what this means for enterprise applications? There are many cool Machine Learning use cases, how these can be applied for business? We have an answer. This is deeply technical session, where we describe Machine Learning notebooks to create models for: contextual chatbots with intelligent intent classification, tabular dataset models for such cases as invoice payment risk calculation and text sentiment analysis to automate support ticket escalation. To be successful with Machine Learning it is very important to start with simple but practical use case. We will explain how to connect all bits - prepare data, run training and finally host built model in production.
JavaScript Development on Steroids with Oracle Visual Builderandrejusb
JavaScript is an awesome programming language and it helps us to build great apps. But what if you need to build a fairly large enterprise application with JavaScript, soon you will find yourself in ten thousands of source code lines. Eventually, it will become hard to maintain all this code written by hand. This is where Oracle Visual Builder comes into rescue with a declarative approach for JavaScript development. Visual Builder helps to build, change and maintain complex forms much faster and more effective than coding the entire system manually.
Microservice Approach for Web Development with Micro Frontendsandrejusb
Micro frontends extend concepts of microservices into front end development. The idea behind micro frontends is to represent Web app as composition of features, instead of one large monolyth application. Each feature is developed and tested end-to-end, from database to user interface. Oracle JET Web Components architecture suits perfectly for micro frontend development, Web Component encapsulates UI and back-end logic calls, allowing to build independent micro frontends.
Learn how to build client side chatbot with Oracle JET, on top of contextual chatbot model, which is implemented with TensorFlow Learn library using deep neural network model. Context is king, while talking about intelligent chatbots. It is very important to keep context, otherwise conversation becomes useless. This session will focus on three areas - user intent processing with TensorFlow machine learning, conversation context tracking and chatbot UI implementation with Oracle JET. Communication between JET client side and TensorFlow is implemented through REST with Flask microframework for Python.
Oracle Development Cloud Service is built on top of open source tools that are essential in today’s software development - source code control; task management; build automation; wiki; - striking the perfect balance between the developer's need of a light process, and on the other hand, the manager’s need of a global insight and oversight of development stages. Florin will describe how CHB Jelly House, start-up company, build their first custom application using Oracle Development Cloud Service across entire application’s lifecycle, from the requirements gathering phase right up to production.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
