Adaptation of Penguin
Ohh it is so cold !!!
How can I live in this
snow???
Let’s Check……….
Adaptation of Polar Bear
Thick Fur
Polar Bear has thick fur which keeps its body warm
Small Features
Polar bears have small ears covered in thick fur, a very short tail and
small nostrils, all of which help to keep warm and the snow do not
enter their body.
Thick Layer Fat
The thick layer of fat stores food so that it can survive if they do not get food
for many days.
Shorter Legs and webbed feet
Polar bears have shorter legs and webbed feet to easily walk on snow.
Polar Bear Adaptation
Dark Feathers
The dark coloured feathers of a penguin's back surface absorb heat from
the sun, so helping them to warm up too.
Thick Layer Fat
They have thick skin and lots of fat (blubber) under their skin to
keep warm in cold weather.
Underwater
Penguins don't have all the extra airspaces in their bones that normal birds have.
Their heavy, solid bones act like a diver's weight belt, allowing them to stay
underwater.

cactus
Cactus has spines
which stores water so it
can survive without
water for a long time.
Cactus roots grow
deep underground to
get water in the desert.
A camel's metabolism lowers
at night, making its body
temperature much lower than a
person's. Camel keeps itself cool
in the night
Fact Check!!!
Waxy Skin
Cactus stem store rain
water to get water in
the desert.
Tiger Adaptation
Thick Fur
Keeps them warm
Stripes
To hide them
from their prey
Sharp Pointed Teeth
To tear the flesh.
Nocturnal Vision
Tigers have a very sharp
vision in the night so that
they can hunt in the night
Lets see adaptations of other animals……
Stripes for camouflage, long and
powerful legs for running, and
strong teeth adapted to a grassy
diet are among the most
important adaptations of zebras
.
The deer has many adaptations.
The deer has skinny legs for
running fast and their tail is for a
warning. Whenever the deer
thinks there is danger it sticks up
its tail and let other deer know.
Deer also have fur to keep them
warm in winter. Deer have antlers
and hooves to keep them safe.
Delicate and sensitive skin
Excrete reddish oil that
protect skin fro drying
Protect skin by spending
a lot of time in water

Adaptations
Deep roots absorbs water and holds the
trees to the ground strongly
Survive fire because of deep roots and bark
Grows during the wet or rainy season
Smooth slippery barks keeps away the vines
from killing trees
The leaves are slippery so the rain water
does not stay on the leaves which stops
The fungus fro growing
Thick bark protects
trees and dropping
leaves in winter
saves water and
nutrients in cold
winters
Fact check!!!
Has BIG LEAVES
to absorb sunlight
Deforestation means fires in
the forest and cutting down of
trees.
It has harmful effect on the
ecosystem
Deforestation Carnivores and Herbivores
are dying and most species
are extinct.
Deforestation is destroys
habitat of animals.
Migration of Birds
Why do
Birds
migrate?
How do
birds know
when to
migrate?
Migration of Birds means
when bird travel long
distances in search of
the climate which is
suitable for them.
Let’s Fly..
Long distance Migration
Birds start migrating in
the autumn, to make
sure they are not around
when it starts to get
cold.
Birds might feel changes in weather.
Birds might notice when days
get shorter and there is less
sun.
Some more facts on Migration
How is
migration
matched
with
season?
How do birds
use landmarks
to migrate from
one place to
another?
What
migratory
routes do
birds
follow?
How does
migration
benefit birds &
environment?
Birds combine several different
types of senses when they
navigate. Birds can get compass
information from the sun, the stars,
and by sensing the earth’s magnetic
field. They also get information from
the position of the setting sun and
from landmarks seen during the
day.
Birds usually
migrate with the
onset of autumn
as most birds
search for a warmer
place before the winter.
Whe the winter ends they
return back for the spring.
Birds follow path which
they fly every year. They
usually take the route wherin
They can stop over for food
and rest.
Many species migrate in
order to take advantage of
better food supplies in
different environments at
various times of the year.
Others migrate to areas
that are better for nesting.
Hibernation of Animals
Let’s find……
Animals go in deep
sleep that last all winter.
They can hibernate as
long as six months
Hibernation
Hibernation is not sleeping it
is a deep sleep with changes
in the body temperatures
and the animal won’t get up
even for eating or drinking.
Is it same as sleeping?
Does Human Hibernate? No!!!
I can’t Sleep
that long!!
Humans do not need to hibernate
because humans have ways to
store food and build warm
houses. Humans cannot be
without eating and for more then
two days they will die.
I Hibernate too !!
Gold Fish
Bear
 They hibernate
for 8 months.
 They collect
food for the cold
season and
spend witer in
their nests.
Bats HedgehogAmerican
Black bear
A Peep into Hibernation
 Their heart rate
drops to as low
as 8 beats.
 They hibernate
without eating,
drinking.
 They hibernate
in logs of rocks.
Squirrels
 They lower the
body temperature
and get up every
few days to raise
temperature.
 They wake up and
eat stored food
and remove body
wastes.
 Bats hibernate
when the cold
weather make the
insects go away.
In October and
November.
 Hedgehog
hibernate in the
cold weather
October and
November.
 They drop their
body temperature.
Environmental Benefits
Birds Connect our World
Migratory birds play an important
part in the ecosystem. They eat
insects which saves farmers
money they would otherwise
spend on pesticides.
Migration saves lives of birds
which would die in the cold
weathers. It also improves
reproduction.
Thank you
