Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, a small pouch connected to the colon. It is most common in people ages 20-30 and causes pain in the lower right abdomen that may shift from the belly button. A physical exam can reveal tenderness in the right lower abdomen along with tests showing elevated white blood cells. Treatment involves antibiotics and surgery to remove the appendix.

3. Appendicitis is an inflammation of the
appendix, a finger-shaped pouch that projects
from your colon on the lower right side of your
abdomen.
It’s the most common abdominal surgical
emergency.

•Inflammation

•Neoplasm
•Enlarged lymphoid follicles
•Intestinal worms
•Traumatic injury

5. Pain : around the umbilicus or epigastrium and
shift to the right iliac fossa with few hours
Anorexia: preceding the pain
Nausea & vomiting
Constipation or diarrhea : mostly patient with
appendicitis develop constipation for few days
before the attack of the pain.

6. Low grade fever
White & furred tongue
Tenderness at right iliac fossa
Localized guarding over the inflamed
appendix

7. 1)Rovsing’s sign: pressure on the left iliac
fossa produce pain on the right iliac fossa.
2)Psoas’s sign: pain on extension of right thigh
with patient lying on the left side.
3)Obturator’s sign : pain on internal rotation
of the flexed right thigh while the patient
lying in supine position.
4)Rebound tenderness: tenderness in the
right iliac fossa after releasing the pressure.
