16. * A paragraph is a group of 5 to 10 sentences which
gives information about a single topic.
A paragraph consists of
- Topic Sentence
- Supporting Sentences
- Concluding Sentence
What is Paragraph?
17. • Topic Sentence: The main single idea, and usually the first sentence which is
the most general sentence of the paragraph. The topic sentence should neither be
too narrow nor too broad.
• Supporting Sentences: The sentences which provide details, examples, data,
and explanation (DEDE) about and to support the topic sentence.
• Concluding Sentence/s: The last sentence which concludes the paragraph by
either restating the main topic sentence, summarising the paragraph, or providing
suggestion or prediction.
