African Americans With Hiv ( Hiv )
African Americans with HIV
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is viral infection that weakens the immune
system of the body and eventually causes AIDS (acquired immune deficiency
syndrome) the last stage of the disease where a person can die. The virus has plagued
the African American communities and continues to disproportionately impact the
black race more than any other racial or ethnical group.
The brunt of the impact of HIV has taken over the African Americanpopulation due
to complex set of social, individual and environmental factors. The spread of the
disease is the number one cause of death in African Americans, both male and female.
It is alarming and at the same time devastating for the African people throughout the
world not able to organize and work together to combat the reality of HIV that is
invading the black communities. With this alarming epidemic, this paper will
identify the internal and external risk factors or challenges affecting the prevention
/intervention that has been developed for the African Americans with HIV.
African Americans make up 12% of the United States population. Yet, as a group,
they are 50% living with HIV. They are the number one group that are affected by
this life taking disease and the number one cause of death for HIV/AIDS. Blacks have
the most severe burden in disparity to other racial or ethnic groups. According to the
author, a study in 2006, 45 percent of new HIV infection were found in Blacks. For
women, Black women, the
The Legacy Of Theodore Roosevelt
The White House has seen many Great men come and go, some leaving more of a
mark in history and others fading into the background. Theodore roosevelt, I can
honestly say was one of the the most influential and active presidents we ve ever
been graced to have. Being the voice of the people, aided our country in
environmental concerns, Excelling in foreign policies and winning the nobel peace
prize. He had an incredibly fulfilling and prosperous life. Theodore Rooseveltwas one
of most dynamic Presidents in all of American history.
Theodore Roosevelt Jr. was born on October 27, 1858, in New York City, to
Theodore Roosevelt, and Martha Bulloch. He had an older sister Anna and later he
would obtain a younger brother and sister, Elliot and Corinne. His family had
owned a successful plate glass import business. As a young boy, Theodore
Roosevelt (or teddy) as his family so frequently called him ( of which he wasn t
very fond), spent a lot of time inside his family s home. He was home schooled
because his illnesses and asthma. This gave him the time to delve into his passion
for animals, but by his teens though, with the encouragement of his father Theodore
developed strenuous exercise routines that had included weightlifting and boxing.
Later Roosevelt happily went to Harvard, but unfortunately after only 2 years of
being there his father passed away. The pain of losing his father fueled his passion
and he graduated and moved on to Columbia law school. Roosevelt didn

Abstract
The objective was to determine the value of Planck s constant using LED s. The
value of Planck s constant found in this experiment was 5.93x10 34Js, This is
fairy close in comparison to the accepted value being 6.626x10 34Js. The Value of
Planck s constant was found with the use of LED s, the provided wavelength was
used to calculate the frequency, then the experiment allowed us to find the LED s

the electrons crossing the junction are excited and return to their stable state, usually
the ground state. When returning to the ground state or a lower state from which
they were in, the electron emits light energy which is a high energy photon. The
energy of the photon depends on how many energy states the electron drops. This
particular voltage when the LED just starts to emit light is known as the threshold
voltage. Once the threshold voltage is reached the current may increase but the
voltage across the LED doesn t change significantly.
The energy of the photon emitted can be calculated using the equation
E = hf where h = the Planck s constant f = the frequency of light
From the equation it can be said that the energy emitted has a relationship with planck
s constant and the frequency of emitted radiation.
We can use this equation to work out planck s constant by combining it with another
equation. This equation is
E = QV where Q = the charge (1.6x10 19)
V = threshold voltage
hf=QV
If you plot a graph of voltage against frequency, find the gradient and multiply it by
the charge of an electron (1.6x10 19), you find the value of Planck s constant.

Comparison Paper 1 In Effective Biblical Counseling the author, Larry Crabb (1977),
develops a biblical counseling model designed to assist the Christian counselor. The
purpose of this comparison paper is to detail the model of the author through several
segments that expound on the foundational constructs and implications of the authors
theory. Following the summary, this paper will conclude with a practical... Show

Step 5 requires the client to commit to acting on the learned biblical assumption.
The cure for doubt is obedience (p. 156). In step six, the client is asked to plan and
carry out biblical behavior. Finally, step seven is to identify the presence of Spirit
controlled feelings (p. 157).
Balance of Theology and Spirituality Throughout the book, the author carefully
details the need for balance between theology and spirituality, and psychology and
Christianity. Though the author discusses methods and approaches that are spiritual
but based on a strong theological foundation. Nothing is more crucial to an effective
Christian life that a clear awareness of its foundation (p. 25). Essentially Crabb (1977)
maintains that spirituality is a product of the correct thinking associated with strong
theological foundation.
Human Personality The author details the personality structure of humanity that is
described by identifying the functioning parts. These five parts include the conscious
mind, the unconscious mind, the heart, the will and the emotions. The conscious
mind controls the perception and evaluation of the events in the mind. The
unconscious mind houses the basic assumptions. The heart represents direction. The
will identifies a person s behavior. Finally, the emotions of an individual detail the
capacity for feelings.

Summary Of The Response To Intervention
Chapter 3 The Response to Intervention, Referral, and Placement Process Reflection
and Summary By: S. Elizabeth Jackson Examining the Response to Intervention
(RTI) ProcessResponse to Intervention (RTI) is an in school service program
designed to guarantee that all students are getting a high quality education. Before
students are referred for special education services, it is essential that they receive
effective teaching designed to meet their own learning requirements. All students in
public schools are required to be included in the RTI program. While the different
program may vary from state to state, the basis of the models are the same. The RTI
process has three tiers. In tier one is labeled curriculum based classroom... Show more

Teachers, during tier one, should closely follow the GREAT guidelines. Teachers
are also expected to differentiate instruction for those who are struggling. Tier two
teachers expected to collect extensive data on the at risk student. Teachers are to
collect data not only on information the student got wrong, but also when they were
correct. This aids in a more correct placement, if needed. The final tier of the RTI
process, tier three, is where all the data collection comes into play. In order for a
student to be admitted into tier three, there has to be adequate evidence to support
this claim. The teacher needs to continue to collect data to provide information on
whether or not the student has made progress with the interventions in place. The
teacher may asked to organize the data collected during the previous interventions.
The text suggest that the teacher may be asked to collect this data in the form of a
visual aid, such as a bar graph. Process of Determining if a Student has a Disability
and the Responsibilities of the Teacher When all the tiers of RTI have been utilized,
the Students Support Team (SST) decides if the next appropriate step for the student
is a referral to special education. Biased on the information gathered during the RTI
process, the SST will appraise and see if the student meets the criteria for one of the
IDEA categories of disability. The disability or impairment must have an unwanted
The Tell Tale Heart Essay
A person that brutally killed four people, and unaware of the very fact that he is
the one that murdered all of them. Strawberry Spring by Stephen King is a story
that takes place at New Sharon college, at the start of strawberry spring, and the
narrator tells the story about how there is a killer on the college campus, and in the
end we find out he is the killer. The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
is
a story from the perspective of a mentally ill woman, who is on a summer stay at a

One prime example of is unawareness is shown when he says, My wife is upset.
She wants to know where I was last night. I can t tell her because I don t remember
(King 8). The narrator did not remember what he did last night, showing that he is
very unreliable because he cannot remember where he was at all last night. If he
cannot even remember where he was last night, then there is not a chance that he
can be considered a reliable narrator by any means. Another example of his
unawareness comes when they are on there way downstate when he is thinking,
For all any of us knew, Springheel Jack might have been in the car with us (King
7). At this point he still has not realized that he actually is Springheel Jack, because
he is saying there is a chance that Springheel Jack is in the car, but he does not
know for sure. If he does not realize that he is actually the person that killed all
three of the girls, to this point in the story, then he cannot be considered a reliable
narrator, because he does not even know who he actually is. Since the narrator of
Strawberry Spring is so unaware of who he actually is, he is the most unreliable
narrator of the stories.
The most unreliable narrator is the narrator from Stephen King s Strawberry Spring
because he is a cold blooded killer. Nonetheless, some people believe that the
narrator from The Tell Tale Heart is the most unreliable because he kills the old man
that he cares for. His

The Importance of the Wise Use of Genetic Engineering
Human species has been suffering at the hands of disease since their genesis. Our
relation with each other is such that if one suffers in pain, his suffering and pain
touches rest of the humanity. It is now in our domain to use this new technology
called Genetic Engineering to ameliorate human suffering and pain. We should make
sure that this technology is only used for the betterment of humanspecies and not
selectively. It is indeed horrifying to know that someone wants to use this as a tool
for eugenics or to alter the human race altogether. I totally agree with the specter
mentioned in the book Babies by Design by Ronald M. Green (2007), that in case a
human weakness has been eliminated through genetic engineering, and the few
parents who opt for a natural conception run the risk of producing low quality
invalids who become members of a despised under class. I am against selective
genetic manipulation that will produce several classes of human species, which
will be classified as good, better, best. I tend to disagree with Bill Mckibben on If I
am a world class runner, but my parents inserted the sweatworks2010genepack in
my genome, can I really feel pride in my accomplishments (ENOUGH 2003). Yes sir
I can, because my gene carried an imperfection. It has been tweaked a bit to enhance
my performance and that s all there is to it. No qualms about it whatsoever. Humans

The Front De Liberation Du Quebec
Just watch me are the defiant words uttered by Canadian Prime Minister Pierre
Elliot Trudeau in response to the Front de liberation du Quebec (FLQ), a Marxist
group who captained Quebec independence through indiscriminate political violence.
His words are not those of an iron fisted strongman, despite how strong and
undetailed his comments were at the time, but those of a calculated and well versed
leader, whose decisions came at the behest of prominent Quebecpoliticians. The FLQ
instilled a decade of social violence in the streets of Quebec by systemically
championing the struggles of French minorities who perceived unjust treatment in
everyday life. Their qualms quickly evolved from protest to a Marxist movement,
which incorporated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marx s manifesto dangerously presented a worldview based on totalitarianism and
humanization of armed conflict. The FLQ paraded Communist ideology as a
revolutionary tactic to promote change, yet seemingly failed to realize the flaws
associated with it, both politically and morally. Trudeau deemed it necessary to act
as he did as the FLQ continuously promoted a hardline, and very literal
understanding, ultimately culminating in the publication and distribution of an
FLQ manifesto, which brazenly stated, We are the workers of QuГ©bec and we
will continue to the bitter end. We want to replace the slave society with a free
society, functioning by itself and for itself; a society open to the world (Belanger,
2007). Trudeau was adept at realizing how impactful a persuasive outside influence
could be on minority populations who felt left behind by a changing Canada. Being
French himself, he openly acknowledged the need to not alienate a large amount of
Canada in his process in dealing with the issue, yet had to be strong willed in the face
of terror. Communism contradicts many of the societal factors which democracy takes
for granted, and it became apparent as the FLQ gained influence that their perception
become increasingly more nationalistic. Trudeau stressed the threat Marxism posed,
as it is against normalcy to suddenly and brashly causer great change in society. A

Family And The Language Institute
Family
Betty and I are from the same town, same city. We met at the language institute, she
was 16 and I was 18, but we didn t know each other before that. Even though our
families were living about a mile apart; we didn t know each other. Our families
knew each other, but not us. Betty went to a girls school, I went to a boys school,
so we didn t meet until we went to the institute. We were good friends for a year,
we had different friends in the school. Then things kind of got in such a way that
we started going out and became serious. That year we played matchmakers for
other friends! Betty had a friend that was crazy about me and I had a friend that
was interested in one of her cousins. So we did the matchmaking. We dated for
seven years before we were able to get married. We couldn t get married over in
Argentina because she was going to school and I was going to school, so we were
not going to live with our parents. That was not an option. On December 30th it
will be 44 years since we got married, almost 51 since we met. We met in 1964, in
1955 we started dating and got married in 1971. It was the English that got us
together. It was in our destiny that we were going to be here in the States speaking
the language.

Listeria Monocytogenes Canada
Listeria monocytogenes is a dangerous bacterium capable of contaminating food
products if not successfully controlled. The foodborne illness listeriosis is often the
result of consuming foods tainted with this pathogen. As a result, Canada has
developed a Policy on Listeria monocytogenes in Ready to Eat foods to help protect
Canadians from this bacterium and its detrimental effects. This paper will thoroughly
examine the origin of this federal policy, the influences on its creation and its
amendments. The stakeholders influencing the construction as well as the impacts
this policy has had in Canada will also be considered, leaving a well rounded
understanding on this fundamental policy.

37 The purpose of this latest amendment was to ultimately improve the oversight
and compliance activities of R.T.E foods with respect to their potential to support
the growth of Listeria. For example, it is now a requirement that environmental
monitoring programs are incorporated in to all plants and are used in the
production of R.T.E food products. 38 Furthermore, the definition of R.T.E foods
was updated and expanded upon with regards to which foods display the potential
to grow of L. monocytogenes and a more detailed list of foods prone to
contamination. 39 This policy revision also focused aimed to provide an even
greater focus to at protecting the high risk members of society, specifically the
infants, pregnant women and the elderly. 40 This aspect of the 2011 policy
decision was greatly influenced by the European cases of listeriosis regarding the
decision to utilize more efficient risk communication programs intended to protect
these vulnerable groups, specifically the aging members of society. 41 The majority
of European cases have been attributed to elderly population, as they are exceedingly
prone to becoming ill. Therefore, this provided even more need to center the policy
on these at risk groups.

The Current Generation Of School Age
The current generation of people of school age and in the young adults age group is
among the earliest to grow up in the age where Internet usage plays a near pivotal role
in society. Naturally, this also leads to the fact that this demographic is most affected
by Internet addiction. In fact, a study conducted using four years of information from
the Korean Information Society Agency concluded that the higher the level of school,
the higher the Internetaddictionratio. The highest level of school in this study was
university level. (Jun, 2015) This fact is important because university level is almost

Furthermore, the higher the level of internet addiction a student was facing, the more
likely the student had trouble with time management. Proceeding to the next
hypothesis statement, it was found that time management was directly proportional
to academic performance. Therefore, by inference, it can be stated that high levels of
internet addiction will likely result in poor academic performances.
The second case to be reviewed is a study that took place among 594 in patients, aged
ten to 24 years old, of one of the largest Internet addiction clinics in China. (Jiang,
2014) The study aimed to investigate the relationships between internet addiction,
internet connectedness, wherein various factors of Internet usage are considered to
measure an individual s Internet usage pattern, and online gaming. Online gaming is
a major contributing factor to Internet addiction, particularly in the young adult male
demographic. (Hsu Yu, 2007) Due to online games massive immersion and interaction
features, they can be really engaging and time consuming, as well as give the player a
sense of belonging. The data retrieved from the surveyed patients were split into 5
parts, namely: Internet connectedness, online gaming, Internet addiction symptoms,

Undoubtedly, one of the advantages that Kassatly Chtaura has, is how they shape
their strategy, implement new drinks according to market trends and its innovative
position in alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. They have been receiving much
recognition for the ingredients that are used in its production. The same laws have
specified restrictions on alcohol and energy drinks, and that s where Kassatly
Chtaura could find the right time to launch its various products in Lebanon and in
turn be related to Saudi Arabia, which provides an advantage to position itself in the
group GCC in the Middle East. However, the tension is handled in the country of
Lebanon and in the closest countries. Is a rapid change that may arise from the
overnight, so achieving manufacturing in another country where it is not fully
understood the culture, the rules and laws governing, is a risk that can be significant
in the formation of an expansion in Saudi Arabia or in Africa as an emerging market
that is growing nowadays.
Kassatly Chtaura is a company that has taken advantage of the situation, resources
and the regions where they can make some investment to prop up the finances and
not fall into a low development of innovation in the products they handle.
Implementation of vodka, energy drinks and even some alignment with the wines
have kept the name Kassatly Chtaura outside the Lebanese community, and
internationally, they have achieved some recognition.

short time and so that organizations can continue to feed off of their publicity and
make millions of dollars a year off of their pain and suffering. Although Orcinus
Orca Whales are commonly referred to as Killer Whales because they are known as
powerful predators who relentlessly [batter] their prey for hours at a time (Robert
L. Pitman), Orcinus Orcas are actually the largest members of the dolphin family.
According to the MarineBio Conservation Society, Orcinus Orcas can reach a
maximum length of over 9m and can weigh up to 7,257kg (MarineBio.org) , which
is equivalent to a weight of 15998.9 lbs and about 29.5ft in length. Killer whales
can be found in all parts of the ocean and in most seas from the Arctic to the
Antarctic (NMFS: NOAA Fisheries). Considering the physical size of Orcas and the
size of their natural habitat
Comparative Study of Company Law
Introduction Company law (also be referred to as the law of business associations)
can be described as the field of law concerned with the daily running of companies
as well as business organizations. It entails partnerships, corporations as well as
some of the associations that always deal in economic or charitable activity.
Corporations are the highly prominent kinds of companies, they have separate legal
personality and its investors have limited liability for whichever losses that occur in
the company that is governed by corporate law. Companies that are widely spread
with great monopoly are always listed publicly on the stock exchanges in all part of
the world. Depending on the form, single individuals who are referred to as sole
traders also have the opportunity to incorporate themselves and limit their ability so
that they have the chance of continuing with the business. These various forms of
companies rely on the particular law of their countries or the country of its location.
Company laws were originally derived from the common law of England though it
has significantly evolved in the 20th Century. Countries that practice common law
address different forms such as Limited Company, Corporation, Unlimited Company,
Limited Partnership, Limited Liability partnership, Partnership, Not for profit
Corporation and Sole Proprietorship. Most of the countries have forms of business
entity that is unique to their country. Some of the examples being limited liability
The Role Of Bella In Her Pet Cheeseburger Ebenezer
Bella is in a fight with her pet cheeseburger Ebenezer because he got ketchup all over
her new white shirt. Though in the end, she concludes to solve her problem by eating
him. Primarily, Ebenezer, the cheeseburger, enters the digestive tract through the
mouth in which he is cut, torn, and grinded into pieces through mechanical digestion,
in which Bella can swallow by her teeth. Bella s saliva then helps her soften,
moisten, and break down the starches of Ebenezer so that she is ready to swallow
him. This is when ingestion happens or the process of taking in food. In swallowing
Ebenezer, Bella closes a trap door in her throat known as the epiglottis. Suddenly,
Ebenezer is in her pharynx, which hands him to her esophagus, which carries him to
A Study On Gas Exchange Essay
Gas Exchange is a biological delivery of oxygen from the air or water to the
bloodstream or cells in the bodies of mammals, fish or insects while also getting rid
of carbon dioxide. To make a good gas exchange systems the system itself must have:
a large surface area and be thin and moist, it must allow gases to pass through also
known as being permeable and the exchange system must have its own system for
sustaining extreme concentration gradients (to keep oxygenand carbon dioxideat the
right levels).
1
Mammals are warm bloodied animals that have a distinctive back bone and are
known as
vertebrates . Most mammals have fur, and the female mammals produce milk to
feed their young, and almost always give birth to their offspring. They use lungs
for their gas exchange system in order to get oxygen into their bodies and carbon
dioxide out. Fish however are cold blooded and don t have any limbs, they can also
are defined as vertebrates and use gills to get oxygen into their bodies and carbon
dioxide out. They also live their lives in water. Insects are known as arthropods and
have an exoskeleton that most commonly has six legs and one to two sets of wings.
They use multiple small tubes called tracheae to get oxygen into their bodies and
carbon dioxide out.
Fish:
Fish live in water so there is no chance of the gas exchange system desiccating like
there is with insects and mammals. Because of this the gas exchange system is
located on the outside of the body, unlike with
Recyclability Of Recycling
Although there are numerous benefits to recycling such as a whole job and market
industry and environmental conservation, majority of these benefits cannot be
accessed without the participation of the public. Unfortunately, a large majority of
the general population does not recycle mostly because of the time it takes to
simply sort recyclables or take to a drop off facility. Therefore, a new system should
be put in place and spread to increase the recyclingparticipation to completely access
the benefits of recycling and to reach a strong level of sustainability. Thankfully, most
people are motivated by money or lack thereof, so a deposit system would motivate
more people to recycle by giving them the choice to make their money back and
recycle or simply lose money. Additionally, this deposit system would motivate the
public because they would simply input a relatively low time cost for a financial
reward. Because of these known motivational trends, the deposit system will
definitively improve the recycling participation rate leading to increased
environmental conservation and a solid level of sustainability. Although the deposit
system seems very complicated, it involves a very simple idea with a clear goal of
increasing the recycling participation rate. Under the deposit system, when a
customer buys a water bottle or another material depending on the restriction and
laws of the state, the customer would pay an additional set dollar amount such as five
cents. If the
President Jimmy Carters Speech On Foreign Policy
President Jimmy Carters speech of 1977 advocated for a new direction in foreign
policy that emphasized humanitarianism, this new theory was inspired by the ideals
of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Rooselvelt. Nevertheless, his speech is
historically significant in that it reflects Carters desire to create new relationships
with other nations by using democracy to create a cooperative foreign policy, notably
a detente with the Soviet Union.
The Afflatus of Others in Carters Agenda
According to Carter himself, he claimed this new idea on foreign policy was a
beginning aimed towards a clear goal: to create a wider framework of international
cooperation suited to the new and rapidly changing historical circumstances . As
mentioned previously, he derived this goal from the formularization of both
Woodrow Wilson along with Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Woodrow Wilson
Wilson inspired Carter with his notion of the fourteen points which embody self
determination for all nations, freedom of the seas, free trade, open diplomacy(an
end to secret treaties), the readjustment of colonial claims with colonized people
given equal weight in deciding their futures, and the creation of a general
association of nations to preserve the peace (book. 736) . This theory made by
Wilson is much similar to Carters in the sense that America as a nation should take
an active role in foreign policy where he claims that It is a new world, but America
should not fear it. It is a new world, and we should
The Character Of The Patient In The Screwtape Letters
The patient in The Screwtape Letters is an interesting character. He is a struggle for
Wormwood who is trying to keep him close to the Devil. I see him as a writer who
has been put into the army to do defence work. I see him as a writer who was a
professor so his knowledge is very extensive in many things in life.
The patient could have many jobs but I see him as a writer. There are many times that
screwtape talks about how smart he is. Writers usually know a lot in what they write
about. In the first chapter Screwtape says Your manhas been accustomed, ever since
he was a boy, to have a dozen incompatible philosophies dancing about together
inside his head. He doesn t think of doctrines as primarily true or false , but as
academic or practical , outworn or contemporary , conventional or ruthless . Jargon,
not argument, is your best ally in keeping him from the Church. (chapter 1 first
paragraph) This shows that the patient does know his stuff and thinks through
everything. I see him as a writer for science and philosophy books. These people
could be professors and the patient could have been a professor before since he
knows so much about life. The patient s job during the war was a defence worker (ch.
28, p154). This defence work could be helping build barricades in roads and planning
where to strategically place the barriers. Since I saw him as a writer, I see it fitting
that he is a defence worker because a smaller man would not be able to fight in the
Essay about The Imporance of Polymers Today
A polymer is a large molecule consisting of many smaller subunits known as
monomers. There are different types of polymers and many uses for all of them.
Even though people may not realize it polymers play an essential role in our
everyday life. For polymers range from plastics, PVC, and Styrofoam to key
structures in the human body like DNA and proteins which are key components to
the human body that makes it possible for each of us to live and be unique. So
with out polymers in our body we would be dead, and with out them in our society
it would be a drastically changed for the worse to say the least
Polymers are also commonly referred to as plastics so now you can put in to
perspective how much we use polymers. You can also realize... Show more content

ON the other hand if it is properly recycled we are able to reuse the same plastic over
and over again for long periods of time while at the same time keeping a low
production cost This is why plastic is cheap even though it contains oil a very high
priced item, for as long as people do their best to not waste plastic and recycle it there
really is not a need to waste our precious oil and manufacture more of it.
Polymers effect every ones life almost every day allowing us to make many
valuable items that can help make our lives easier including plastic, PVC, and
shellac there are also natural polymers that we benefit from such as rubber and
amber. Polymers are truly a great and very beneficial item to everyone for they are
tough, durable, and cheap but they are also recyclable which can be very beneficial
to our environment and societal needs. The only negative effect is when it is not
properly disposed but this is really the users fault not the actual item its self
Though polymers are a very beneficial thing now, but In the future I believe that at
the very best that they will only hold the same value to society. I say this because
polymers are not a very complicated item and it would be difficult to better this
technology in a drastic way. The only further advancements I see are people
discovering ways to make polymers stronger, more durable and better suited for
extreme and
Social Network Theory And The Bull Between Creative
Vision...
The marketplace is essential for trade, living, recreation and the economy;
formulating human society it is essential for sustainable living (Public Markets as
a Vehicle for Social Integration and Upward Mobility, 2003). For the purposes of
this paper, it will be argued that the creative marketplace is the most complex of all,
the most difficult in which to succeed as a seller or navigate as a consumer because
creative goods are essentially symbolic and experiential. There will be a number of
other aspects which will be addressed that substantiate this claim; including but not
limited to; risk, social networktheory and the bull between creative vision and
financial vision. A number of examples will be referred to within this piece of
writing in order to highlight this argument, with the academic works of Potts,
Cunningham, Hartley and Ormerod (2008), Hartley (2008), Gloor (2008) and Hirsh
(1972) strongly referred to to complete the discussion.
It has been argued that all marketplaces are complex social constructs based on
meeting needs and creating desires. To firmly understand and to discuss the above
statement, one needs to establish a sound understanding of what complex is. The
Oxford Dictionary defines the concept of complex as something that consists of many
different parts, and is difficult to grasp meaning or decipher from. (Oxford
Dictionary, n.d.). Thus, something that is complex is considered intricate,
complicated and not well defined. The ideology
How Important has Nationalism been in Shaping the

How important has nationalism been in shaping our modern world? Do you believe
that the appeal of nationalism will diminish in the future?
Nationalism has been extremely important and influential in shaping the modern
world we see today, causing revolutions, rebellions and the constant reshaping of
world maps continuing even today. Its appeal is something that I don t believe will
diminish in the future. Many theologians and political commentators alike agree that
Nationalism has perhaps been one of the most prominent political ideologies of the
modern world No single political doctrine has played a more prominent role in
shaping the face of the modern world than nationalism 1, and doesn t look like
ceasing to be as influential anytime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modernist philosophers agree that modernism is only possible in a developed
industrial society, where a strong economy provides a strong backbone for the nation
s development, there is a presence of a centralized authority and the nation is
connected through a single common language in which everyone can communicate
with each other4. Although not known as a nationalist, the father of communism
Karl Marx described nationalism has being the transformation from feudalism to
capitalism, and saw nationalism as nothing more than a trend which would soon
pass5. However this was not the case, the industrial revolution stirred up patriotic
sentiments throughout Europe, especially Germany, France and Great Britain,
which lead to an arms race powered by industry, this played a major role in the lead
up into WWI. Modernism continues to shape the modern world even today, a form
of modernism much like the one seen during the industrial revolution can be seen in
places such as India and China, who are currently experiencing their own version of
the industrial revolution. It can also be seen in the middle east where political
movements such as the Muslim brotherhood have stepped into power in places such
as Egypt after a revolt against the former dictator President Mubarak in 2011, which

The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
The Lottery, a ritual that no one has ever thought to question, which represents any
action, behavior, or idea that is passed down from one generation to the next that s
accepted and followed unquestioningly, no matter how illogical, strange, or cruel. The
oldest denizen of the town, Old Man Warner, points out that this is his seventy
seventh year participating in the ritual, called simply the lottery. (Dubose 1) The
Lottery is so much a part of the town s culture, that the townspeople does not truly
know what the traditionmeans but rejoice at the it nonetheless. That is the force that
drove the theme In Shirley Jacksons the Lottery with her use of setting, symbolism,
suspense, and characters as she exemplifies blindly following tradition with
obedience can be dangerous. The lottery is an extreme example of what can happen
when traditions are not questioned or addressed critically by new generations because
of the infamous word tradition.
Jackson lets us know the time of the lottery at the outset of the story. From the
description of the men s talk of tractors and taxes (Jackson 262) and the depiction of
Mr. Summers wearing a clean white shirt and blue jeans (Jackson 262), we may
assume that we are in the twentieth century, making the story s impact more
immediate. But why does the author choose June 27 as the date on which the village
holds its lottery? The summer solstice, June 21, has already passed, and the Fourth of
July is yet to come. Lottery in June,

Will To Live Sacrifice
Despite this apparent difficulty, the denial of the will to live is still possible.
While the complete denial of the will to life only occurs at death, it is still possible
for a reflective mind to reduce the intensity of the will to live.iii By gaining a deep
inner knowledge of the will s inner machinations, people are capable of grasping the
idea of the will and denying the will through compassionate denial of the principium
individuationis.iv While the Will denying itself does seem like a contradiction, an
individual does not actually will for his own desire, rather he begins to deny the will
to live in an authentic process that begins when one becomes more compassionate,
which arises when one gains more knowledge.v Rather than a flat... Show more

While his notion of asceticism may be a bit extreme, Schopenhauer offers an
interesting perspective that is rarely heard. At the very least, Schopenhauer s notion
of the denial of the will to live has important historical merit and provides an
interesting perspective that modern society may have lost touch with. If we take
Schopenhauer s notion of the denial of the will seriously however, we find that we
have found a useful tool to critique a society that has become increasingly invested in
rampant egotism and

Coordinate transformation
In rare case may be done a numerical solution in a Cartesian coordinate system.
For numerical simulations is used usually a curve coordinate system. In order to
prevent of geometric errors in solutions in finite volume methods, is necessary to the
precise determinationof Surface vector. As an example of an airfoilwhich can be
describedwith difficulty the curve of airfoil by Cartesian grid point and points lie
within the airfoil. Figure 1.2) grid system
Therefore it is better to select a curve coordinate system. As is shown in figure1 2.
Due to this coordinate transformation increase indeed complexity of equation with
respect to Cartesian form but has many advantageous like improvement of efficient

Abstract
This paper discussed the life of Herbert Spencer (Spencer) and his contributions to
the field of Sociology found from print (textbook) and non print sources (online).
Each article touched base on Spencer s life, but each described it differently. Over
all, the article discussed how Spencer was homeschooled and raised by his father
and uncle (Delaney, 2003) and how he was the founder of social Darwinism and
how he coined the term survival of the fittest, (Ferris, K., Stein, J., 2014, p. 21).
Spencer s major books that he has written are in this paper as well. This paper also
discusses how my own personal thoughts were awakened by his theoretical concept
of social Darwinism.
Keywords: Spencer, social Darwinism, personal thoughts
A Biography of Herbert Spencer, His Contributions to Sociology, and How my
Personal Thoughts Were Awakened Many people have suggested that Charles Darwin
coined the term survival of the fittest, but it was actually coined by Spencer as he
referred to the changes in a society (Ferris, K., Stein, J., 2014, p. 21). All of Spencer
s ideas and theories on social Darwinism were thought of even before Charles
Darwin began exploring the idea of evolution (Wee, A., 2013). To understand how
the idea of social Darwinism came about, the life of Spencer should be researched.

Police Corruption In Copland
Copland
Introduction
Copland is a crime movie about the corruption of police in New York city. It all
started with one incident with a officer who shot two African American teens
because he felt threatened. This resulted in other officers bad decisions and
ultimately ended some people s lives. The way they resolved these problems was by
one sheriffs good intentions and investigation skills. It brought to justice the wrong
doings of these police. When he did want to do something about it he decided to go
to Internal Affairs investigator, but was pushed away because he didn t say anything
when he was first asked about it.

sheriff seems to be the only ethical officer in the area. The rest of them are corrupt

is a complete chaos. When it turns out the weapon Murray saw was just a steering

Ridgway s Case Study
Ridgway experienced a very lonely childhood; he did not have many friends and
was said to possibly suffer from anti social behaviour, supported by Minzi and
Shields (2007) stating, his attitude, life history, and crimes all point to antisocial
personality disorder (p.87). During his teen years, Ridgway began to stalk women
who previously rejected him, which is a large indicator of an issue occurring in
Ridgway s life. It is abnormal for teenage boys to stalk the women who had rejected
them; these feelings towards women could have contributed to the reasons he killed
those who he did, all being women. Miller (2014) claims that serial killers begin to
mentally rehearse more realistic scenarios for stalking, abducting, and torturing
victims... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Ridgway s relationships went on, he began to show more signs of sadistic
behaviour. Ridgway married a woman by the name of Claudia Kraig when he was
just twenty years old. After getting married he enlisted in the Navy, where his
obsession with prostitutes ensued. When in the Navy, Ridgway learned of his
wife cheating on him. After being betrayed by yet another woman in his life, this
could have had a psychological meaning to Ridgway. He could have categorized all
women as being selfish and disrespectful to him. After learning the news of his
wife cheating on him, Ridgway divorced her and then married Marcia Winslow.
During this relationship he began choking his wife. It is also told by Minzie and
Shields (2007) that, Ridgway enjoyed sexual bondage and taking her to secluded
places, like the banks of the Green River, to have sex outdoors (p.79). It is not
known why Ridgway took and killed his victims to the Green River, it is
hypothesized that it is because it is a very secluded area and would be difficult to
find the bodies. Learning of Ridgway s behaviour with his second wife is very
concerning. He began experimenting with dominating sex as well as taking her to
the place he would end up killing more than 40 women. It
The Carbon Tax Policy Of British Columbia
Climate change has been an increasing concern in today s world and has proven to
be detrimental in the coming years. With the increasing human population, the
consumption of fossil fuels has been in high demand and this poses a threat in the
future. After several years of political and cultural pressure to take a stand on climate
change and in order to control the regulation of carbon dioxideemissions into the
atmosphere, British Columbia implemented the carbon taxon July 1, 2008 (Murray
and Rivers, page 3). This tax was the first to be imposed in North America and was
revenue neutral (Murray and Rivers, page 3). Due to its myriad of benefits, the
carbon tax was favored by many and did has not disappointed; not only have
greenhouse gasemissions dropped, but business have grown tremendously, and other
energy sectors are flourishing. While counter arguments may highlight the negative
effects of the taxation policy, rebuttals often overlook the long term advantages. In
this paper, I will prove that the carbon tax policy in British Columbia has had several
beneficial outcomes such as the reduction of greenhouse gases and economic growth.
I will then raise an opposition to my thesis by arguing that the short term economic
effects will be damaging to the lower income classes. However, I will show that this
objection is not as valid because the long term benefits, both economically and
environmentally will ultimately prove integral in the alleviating future climate change.

Why Is Julius Caesar A Tyrant
Julius Caesar s death in William Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar was not the right
thing to do because very little evidence throughout has been given to prove that
Caesar was or would have been a tyrant, and because of his death a war sparked
afterward destroying the Roman Republic, the just proves the fact that this murder
can not be justified in any situation. The conspirators killed Julius Caesar mainly
because they were jealous Jealous of his power , rather than for the good of Rome.
Anthony said All the conspirators save only he / Did that they did in envy of great
Caesar; / He only in a general honest thought / And common good to all, made one of

On Symbolism In Desert Places And The Road Not Taken,
By...
In the Norton Anthology of American literature there are many writers, short
stories, poems, and literature that has been greatly awarded and praised
throughout the world. It seems that for an American that this is the all star lineup
for the Robert Frost poems that everybody knows the most, but the question in all
these stories remain the same, what are they talking about. Most people who have
the opportunity to sit in an English class have the same questions asked by their
teachers. What is this story talking about, and or how is the author using
symbolism in his or her work? The Norton Anthology of American literature have
two of my favorite pieces of work, Desert Places and The Road Not Taken by
Robert Frost. In each of these works of art, the author always has a hidden
symbolism that they want you to understand. In the Road Not Taken by Robert
Frost, symbolism is used by getting the reader to experience its own life, in which
the reader has had to decide where to roads diverge. One of my favorite parts of
this poem is the very first line. Two roads diverge in a yellow wood. (Frost 105)
The old saying says that a picture is worth a thousand words is just simply amateur
for Robert Frost. The fact that Robert Frost can paint a magnificent portrait from
seven words is astonishing. The obvious symbolism for this first line is that the
yellow wood represents that it is fall. Leaves are falling, the weather is changing and
for many people in the south it is their favorite time of the year. On Lookout
Mountain and Mount Cheaha in Alabama it is my second favorite time of the year,
after winter. The symbolism that is not obvious... Show more content on

The Historical Context Of Palestine
As the depiction of certain historical facts serves the sole purpose of justifying the
importance of the historical context to the conflict, and not the merit of the events
themselves, the following are only a few, yet highly applicable ones to the matter
discussed. Briefly going back to ancient history, the region known today as
Palestine was first known as Canaan, which derived its name from a people who
inhabited it between 3000 1500 B.C. They were conquered by a greek people
known as Philistines and also Jews, one of the semitic peoples, in the years 1200
1100 B.C. A hundred years later Jews defeated both Philistines and Canaanites,
establishing Kingdom of Israel(Smith). This is important, because the first temple in

As Islam expanded rampantly in the years 630 730 A.D., Jerusalem and Palestine
were incorporated into Islamic rule, exposing Jews to the Arab rule as well as
initiating the clash of religions that thrives to the present day. In A.D. 691, Dome of
the Rock, a Muslim temple memorating Muhammad s ascension to heaven was built
upon the ruins of the Jewish Temple, thus provoking the latter on the religious
grounds, and initiating an ongoing dispute, one of the most prominent in present day
Old City of Jerusalem (Smith).
Toward the end of the Ottoman rule (1516 1918) over Palestine, the situation there
began to destabilize, most notably following the Ottoman land reform law passed in
1867, which granted foreigners the right to own land if they agreed to pay taxes to
the Ottoman government. The aim of the law was to force foreigners to submit to
Ottoman jurisdiction in return for their investment in land in the empire. The ruling
is essential to the current ethnic plight in Palestine, as it was especially in that region,
that those regulations were applicated inconsistently, which opened the way for
extensive outside investment and led to numbers of Palestinians acquiring lands,

African Americans With Hiv ( Hiv ) African Americans with HIV HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is viral infection that weakens the immune system of the body and eventually causes AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) the last stage of the disease where a person can die. The virus has plagued the African American communities and continues to disproportionately impact the black race more than any other racial or ethnical group. The brunt of the impact of HIV has taken over the African Americanpopulation due to complex set of social, individual and environmental factors. Physics Fundamentals ( Phys1001 ) Lab Report Module Name: Physics Fundamentals (PHYS1001) Experiment Name: Determination of Planck s constant (h) Student P number: P14177341 Lab Tutor : Dr Shashi Paul Date: 14/11/2014 Abstract The objective was to determine the value of Planck s constant using LED s. The value of Planck s constant found in this experiment was 5.93x10 34Js, This is fairy close in comparison to the accepted value being 6.626x10 34Js. The Value of Planck s constant was found with the use of LED s, the provided wavelength was used to calculate the frequency, then the experiment allowed us to find the LED s Turn on voltage. The findings were plotted to a graph where, start up voltage was on the Y axis and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... the electrons crossing the junction are excited and return to their stable state, usually the ground state. When returning to the ground state or a lower state from which they were in, the electron emits light energy which is a high energy photon. The energy of the photon depends on how many energy states the electron drops. This particular voltage when the LED just starts to emit light is known as the threshold voltage. Once the threshold voltage is reached the current may increase but the voltage across the LED doesn t change significantly. The energy of the photon emitted can be calculated using the equation E = hf where h = the Planck s constant f = the frequency of light From the equation it can be said that the energy emitted has a relationship with planck s constant and the frequency of emitted radiation. We can use this equation to work out planck s constant by combining it with another equation. This equation is E = QV where Q = the charge (1.6x10 19) V = threshold voltage hf=QV If you plot a graph of voltage against frequency, find the gradient and multiply it by the charge of an electron (1.6x10 19), you find the value of Planck s constant. Elizabeth Jackson Examining the Response to Intervention (RTI) ProcessResponse to Intervention (RTI) is an in school service program designed to guarantee that all students are getting a high quality education. Before students are referred for special education services, it is essential that they receive effective teaching designed to meet their own learning requirements. All students in public schools are required to be included in the RTI program. While the different program may vary from state to state, the basis of the models are the same. The RTI process has three tiers. In tier one is labeled curriculum based classroom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers, during tier one, should closely follow the GREAT guidelines. Teachers are also expected to differentiate instruction for those who are struggling. Tier two teachers expected to collect extensive data on the at risk student. Teachers are to collect data not only on information the student got wrong, but also when they were correct. This aids in a more correct placement, if needed. The final tier of the RTI process, tier three, is where all the data collection comes into play. In order for a student to be admitted into tier three, there has to be adequate evidence to support this claim. The teacher needs to continue to collect data to provide information on whether or not the student has made progress with the interventions in place. The teacher may asked to organize the data collected during the previous interventions. The text suggest that the teacher may be asked to collect this data in the form of a visual aid, such as a bar graph. Process of Determining if a Student has a Disability and the Responsibilities of the Teacher When all the tiers of RTI have been utilized, the Students Support Team (SST) decides if the next appropriate step for the student is a referral to special education. Biased on the information gathered during the RTI process, the SST will appraise and see if the student meets the criteria for one of the IDEA categories of disability. The disability or impairment must have an unwanted

Our relation with each other is such that if one suffers in pain, his suffering and pain touches rest of the humanity. It is now in our domain to use this new technology called Genetic Engineering to ameliorate human suffering and pain. We should make sure that this technology is only used for the betterment of humanspecies and not selectively. It is indeed horrifying to know that someone wants to use this as a tool for eugenics or to alter the human race altogether. I totally agree with the specter mentioned in the book Babies by Design by Ronald M. A Study On Gas Exchange Essay Gas Exchange is a biological delivery of oxygen from the air or water to the bloodstream or cells in the bodies of mammals, fish or insects while also getting rid of carbon dioxide. To make a good gas exchange systems the system itself must have: a large surface area and be thin and moist, it must allow gases to pass through also known as being permeable and the exchange system must have its own system for sustaining extreme concentration gradients (to keep oxygenand carbon dioxideat the right levels). 1 Mammals are warm bloodied animals that have a distinctive back bone and are known as vertebrates . Most mammals have fur, and the female mammals produce milk to feed their young, and almost always give birth to their offspring. They use lungs for their gas exchange system in order to get oxygen into their bodies and carbon dioxide out. Fish however are cold blooded and don t have any limbs, they can also are defined as vertebrates and use gills to get oxygen into their bodies and carbon dioxide out. They also live their lives in water. Insects are known as arthropods and have an exoskeleton that most commonly has six legs and one to two sets of wings. President Jimmy Carters Speech On Foreign Policy President Jimmy Carters speech of 1977 advocated for a new direction in foreign policy that emphasized humanitarianism, this new theory was inspired by the ideals of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Nevertheless, his speech is historically significant in that it reflects Carters desire to create new relationships with other nations by using democracy to create a cooperative foreign policy, notably a detente with the Soviet Union. The Afflatus of Others in Carters Agenda According to Carter himself, he claimed this new idea on foreign policy was a beginning aimed towards a clear goal: to create a wider framework of international cooperation suited to the new and rapidly changing historical circumstances . As mentioned previously, he derived this goal from the formularization of both Woodrow Wilson along with Franklin D. Roosevelt. Woodrow Wilson Wilson inspired Carter with his notion of the fourteen points which embody self determination for all nations, freedom of the seas, free trade, open diplomacy(an end to secret treaties), the readjustment of colonial claims with colonized people given equal weight in deciding their futures, and the creation of a general association of nations to preserve the peace (book. 736) . The marketplace is essential for trade, living, recreation and the economy; formulating human society it is essential for sustainable living (Public Markets as a Vehicle for Social Integration and Upward Mobility, 2003). For the purposes of this paper, it will be argued that the creative marketplace is the most complex of all, the most difficult in which to succeed as a seller or navigate as a consumer because creative goods are essentially symbolic and experiential. There will be a number of other aspects which will be addressed that substantiate this claim; including but not limited to; risk, social networktheory and the bull between creative vision and financial vision. A number of examples will be referred to within this piece of writing in order to highlight this argument, with the academic works of Potts, Cunningham, Hartley and Ormerod (2008), Hartley (2008), Gloor (2008) and Hirsh (1972) strongly referred to to complete the discussion. It has been argued that all marketplaces are complex social constructs based on meeting needs and creating desires. To firmly understand and to discuss the above statement, one needs to establish a sound understanding of what complex is. The Oxford Dictionary defines the concept of complex as something that consists of many different parts, and is difficult to grasp meaning or decipher from. (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.). Thus, something that is complex is considered intricate, complicated and not well defined. The ideology

Do you believe that the appeal of nationalism will diminish in the future? Nationalism has been extremely important and influential in shaping the modern world we see today, causing revolutions, rebellions and the constant reshaping of world maps continuing even today. Its appeal is something that I don t believe will diminish in the future. Many theologians and political commentators alike agree that Nationalism has perhaps been one of the most prominent political ideologies of the modern world No single political doctrine has played a more prominent role in shaping the face of the modern world than nationalism 1, and doesn t look like ceasing to be as influential anytime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modernist philosophers agree that modernism is only possible in a developed industrial society, where a strong economy provides a strong backbone for the nation s development, there is a presence of a centralized authority and the nation is connected through a single common language in which everyone can communicate with each other4. Although not known as a nationalist, the father of communism Karl Marx described nationalism has being the transformation from feudalism to capitalism, and saw nationalism as nothing more than a trend which would soon pass5. However this was not the case, the industrial revolution stirred up patriotic sentiments throughout Europe, especially Germany, France and Great Britain, which lead to an arms race powered by industry, this played a major role in the lead up into WWI. Modernism continues to shape the modern world even today, a form of modernism much like the one seen during the industrial revolution can be seen in places such as India and China, who are currently experiencing their own version of the industrial revolution. It can also be seen in the middle east where political movements such as the Muslim brotherhood have stepped into power in places such as Egypt after a revolt against the former dictator President Mubarak in 2011, which occurred

The Lottery by Shirley Jackson The Lottery, a ritual that no one has ever thought to question, which represents any action, behavior, or idea that is passed down from one generation to the next that s accepted and followed unquestioningly, no matter how illogical, strange, or cruel. The oldest denizen of the town, Old Man Warner, points out that this is his seventy seventh year participating in the ritual, called simply the lottery. (Dubose 1) The Lottery is so much a part of the town s culture, that the townspeople does not truly know what the traditionmeans but rejoice at the it nonetheless. That is the force that drove the theme In Shirley Jacksons the Lottery with her use of setting, symbolism, suspense, and characters as she exemplifies blindly following tradition with obedience can be dangerous. The lottery is an extreme example of what can happen when traditions are not questioned or addressed critically by new generations because of the infamous word tradition. Jackson lets us know the time of the lottery at the outset of the story. From the description of the men s talk of tractors and taxes (Jackson 262) and the depiction of Mr. Summers wearing a clean white shirt and blue jeans (Jackson 262), we may assume that we are in the twentieth century, making the story s impact more immediate. But why does the author choose June 27 as the date on which the village holds its lottery? The summer solstice, June 21, has already passed, and the Fourth of July is yet to come. Lottery in June,

While the complete denial of the will to life only occurs at death, it is still possible for a reflective mind to reduce the intensity of the will to live.iii By gaining a deep inner knowledge of the will s inner machinations, people are capable of grasping the idea of the will and denying the will through compassionate denial of the principium individuationis.iv While the Will denying itself does seem like a contradiction, an individual does not actually will for his own desire, rather he begins to deny the will to live in an authentic process that begins when one becomes more compassionate, which arises when one gains more knowledge.v Rather than a flat... At the very least, Schopenhauer s notion of the denial of the will to live has important historical merit and provides an interesting perspective that modern society may have lost touch with. If we take Schopenhauer s notion of the denial of the will seriously however, we find that we have found a useful tool to critique a society that has become increasingly invested in rampant egotism and

Herbert Spencer, Social Darwinism, Personal Thoughts A Biography of Herbert Spencer, His Contributions to Sociology, and How my Personal Thoughts Were Awakened Jessica McCreary CCBC Dundalk Abstract This paper discussed the life of Herbert Spencer (Spencer) and his contributions to the field of Sociology found from print (textbook) and non print sources (online). Each article touched base on Spencer s life, but each described it differently. Over all, the article discussed how Spencer was homeschooled and raised by his father and uncle (Delaney, 2003) and how he was the founder of social Darwinism and how he coined the term survival of the fittest, (Ferris, K., Stein, J., 2014, p. 21). Spencer s major books that he has written are in this paper as well. This paper also discusses how my own personal thoughts were awakened by his theoretical concept of social Darwinism. Keywords: Spencer, social Darwinism, personal thoughts A Biography of Herbert Spencer, His Contributions to Sociology, and How my Personal Thoughts Were Awakened Many people have suggested that Charles Darwin coined the term survival of the fittest, but it was actually coined by Spencer as he referred to the changes in a society (Ferris, K., Stein, J., 2014, p. 21). All of Spencer s ideas and theories on social Darwinism were thought of even before Charles Darwin began exploring the idea of evolution (Wee, A., 2013). To understand how the idea of social Darwinism came about, the life of Spencer should be researched. This paper

During his teen years, Ridgway began to stalk women who previously rejected him, which is a large indicator of an issue occurring in Ridgway s life. It is abnormal for teenage boys to stalk the women who had rejected them; these feelings towards women could have contributed to the reasons he killed those who he did, all being women. As Ridgway s relationships went on, he began to show more signs of sadistic behaviour. Ridgway married a woman by the name of Claudia Kraig when he was just twenty years old. After getting married he enlisted in the Navy, where his obsession with prostitutes ensued. When in the Navy, Ridgway learned of his wife cheating on him. After being betrayed by yet another woman in his life, this could have had a psychological meaning to Ridgway. He could have categorized all women as being selfish and disrespectful to him. After learning the news of his wife cheating on him, Ridgway divorced her and then married Marcia Winslow. During this relationship he began choking his wife. It is also told by Minzie and Shields (2007) that, Ridgway enjoyed sexual bondage and taking her to secluded places, like the banks of the Green River, to have sex outdoors (p.79). It is not known why Ridgway took and killed his victims to the Green River, it is hypothesized that it is because it is a very secluded area and would be difficult to find the bodies. Learning of Ridgway s behaviour with his second wife is very concerning. He began experimenting with dominating sex as well as taking her to the place he would end up killing more than 40 women. It

With the increasing human population, the consumption of fossil fuels has been in high demand and this poses a threat in the future. After several years of political and cultural pressure to take a stand on climate change and in order to control the regulation of carbon dioxideemissions into the atmosphere, British Columbia implemented the carbon taxon July 1, 2008 (Murray and Rivers, page 3). This tax was the first to be imposed in North America and was revenue neutral (Murray and Rivers, page 3). Due to its myriad of benefits, the carbon tax was favored by many and did has not disappointed; not only have greenhouse gasemissions dropped, but business have grown tremendously, and other energy sectors are flourishing. While counter arguments may highlight the negative effects of the taxation policy, rebuttals often overlook the long term advantages. In this paper, I will prove that the carbon tax policy in British Columbia has had several beneficial outcomes such as the reduction of greenhouse gases and economic growth. I will then raise an opposition to my thesis by arguing that the short term economic effects will be damaging to the lower income classes. However, I will show that this objection is not as valid because the long term benefits, both economically and environmentally will ultimately prove integral in the alleviating future climate change. In the Norton Anthology of American literature there are many writers, short stories, poems, and literature that has been greatly awarded and praised throughout the world. It seems that for an American that this is the all star lineup for the Robert Frost poems that everybody knows the most, but the question in all these stories remain the same, what are they talking about. Most people who have the opportunity to sit in an English class have the same questions asked by their teachers. What is this story talking about, and or how is the author using symbolism in his or her work? The Norton Anthology of American literature have two of my favorite pieces of work, Desert Places and The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. In each of these works of art, the author always has a hidden symbolism that they want you to understand. In the Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, symbolism is used by getting the reader to experience its own life, in which the reader has had to decide where to roads diverge. One of my favorite parts of this poem is the very first line. Two roads diverge in a yellow wood. (Frost 105) The old saying says that a picture is worth a thousand words is just simply amateur for Robert Frost. The fact that Robert Frost can paint a magnificent portrait from seven words is astonishing. The obvious symbolism for this first line is that the yellow wood represents that it is fall. Leaves are falling, the weather is changing and for many people in the south it is their favorite time of the year. Briefly going back to ancient history, the region known today as Palestine was first known as Canaan, which derived its name from a people who inhabited it between 3000 1500 B.C. They were conquered by a greek people known as Philistines and also Jews, one of the semitic peoples, in the years 1200 1100 B.C. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Islam expanded rampantly in the years 630 730 A.D., Jerusalem and Palestine were incorporated into Islamic rule, exposing Jews to the Arab rule as well as initiating the clash of religions that thrives to the present day. In A.D. 691, Dome of the Rock, a Muslim temple memorating Muhammad s ascension to heaven was built upon the ruins of the Jewish Temple, thus provoking the latter on the religious grounds, and initiating an ongoing dispute, one of the most prominent in present day Old City of Jerusalem (Smith). Toward the end of the Ottoman rule (1516 1918) over Palestine, the situation there began to destabilize, most notably following the Ottoman land reform law passed in 1867, which granted foreigners the right to own land if they agreed to pay taxes to the Ottoman government. The aim of the law was to force foreigners to submit to Ottoman jurisdiction in return for their investment in land in the empire. The ruling is essential to the current ethnic plight in Palestine, as it was especially in that region, that those regulations were applicated inconsistently, which opened the way for extensive outside investment and led to numbers of Palestinians acquiring lands, while giving them claim to fight the immigrants of the Zionist Movement (Tessler). The modern Zionism dates back to the second half of the nineteenth century and emerged from the nationalist upheaval as well as anti Jewish prejudice in both Western and
