In order to join some criminal groups, initiates are sometimes expected to beat, rob
or kill people. Other cases force initiates to be beaten by current members without
fighting back or defending themselves; while there is also the tradition of the
person wishing to become a part of the gang having to fight multiple members of
the gang. In both of those cases there is a set amount of time that the things
happen. And for female initiates, they may be forced to go through the violent
rituals as the men, but there is the possibility that she will be required to have sex
with multiple members of the gang. Many people are known to join gangs as a
way to feel acceptance. In doing this there is a sense of belonging, and the belief
that one s well being will be cared about. And that if anything were to come up,
help would be there if ever needed. Others join as a way for protection. Violence is
becoming more of the American culture, and it is only becoming worse. High
schools are a prime example of this. Students act out in violent fits of rage for
questionable reasons. Rather than merely fight someone one on one, they have
their friends help them against their adversary. To many people this is considered

John Steinbeck usually uses California and the Salinas valley as his setting and is
usually placed in the 30s when the great depression occurred. The Grapes of Wrath
is about a family living in Oklahoma and they are farmers during the period called
the dustbowl in which culture was rough because there were droughts and
conditions were not suitable for farming. This family, because they are not doing
too well, decide to move to California to find jobs and dignity. The author writes
about the struggle of a family during and Great Depression and also the struggle of
each individual as their lives are being torn apart. He not only shows how they go
through these hardships, but also how they will overcome them. In John Steinbeck s

Abstract
Glucosylceramide synthase (GCS) is an enzyme that catalyzes the first step in the
biosynthesis of glucosylceramide (GlcCer) related glycosphingolipids (GSLs). In the
present report we have used atom based 3D QSAR method to analyze the structural
aspect on a series of iminosugar derivatives as potent inhibitors of glycosylceramide
synthase. In this approach the experimental dataset was divided into training and test
sets and the model was chosen based on randomized trial distribution which has high
correlation factors. A ligandbased pharmacophore and atom based 3D QSAR
studies were carried out on a set of 65 inhibitors of GCS. After the QSAR studies, a
five point pharmacophore with two hydrogen bond acceptors (A), two hydrophobic
group (H) and one ring aromaticity (R) was obtained. The pharmacophore
hypothesis yielded a 3D QSAR model with good partial least square statistics results.
The training set correlation has these partial least square factors (R2=0.92, SD =
0.178, F = 843.9, P = 1.12e 15). The test set correlation has these partial least square
factors (Q2 = 0.25, RMSE = 0.665, Pearson R =0.54).
After the QSAR studies, docking study is being carried out. The docking study will
reveal the binding orientation of the active ligands on the protein which will be
completed in BTP phase II.

In this experiment the ascorbic acid content of canned orange juice and apple juice
were determined via titrimetric analysis. The indicator used was 2,6 dichlorophenol
indophenol which also acts as an oxidising agent to oxidise the ascorbic acid. Since
ascorbic acid is a potent reducing agent, it would become oxidised very quickly, so to
reduce the chances of missing the end point of the titration, the samples used were
diluted with distilled water.
Before the samples were titrated they were acidified with glacial acetic acid since
they would be heavily diluted. Also 5% metaphosphoric acid was added to prevent
the precipitation of proteins and ferric ions which would interfere with the end point

In the year 2009, Barack Obama shares with us his first inauguration for him
becoming the forty fourth president. As Obama begins his presidency, it is a
tradition to write an appealing speech that is professional for his audience. Obama
writes this speech to let people know that we will not take for granted the acts
people did for us to live together equally. During President Obama s inaugural
speech, he remarked, On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty
grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas that for
too long have strangled our politicians . His use of strangled our politics is an
example of using Argument is War metaphor which on a basic level asserts that
there is a win or a loss, in case he refers to the past administration s politicians
fighting against each other s political party as the winner, and the resulting strangled
politics or influential political system being the loser. Obama s speech was hopeful
towards his audience by his wordchoice being professional, shows emotional appeal,
and demonstrates ethos logos, and pathos throughout his inaugural speech.
Language/Tone
In his speech one of the rhetorical moves Obama uses was echoing his word choice.
Obama uses anaphora meaning using a word at the beginning of successive clauses.
In his ninth paragraph, he repeats the word to to show an equal importance in the

Over the past few years many changes have been made by organizations, in the way
that they do business. One of these changes has been going from rigid and centralized
organizations, to now taking advantage of flexible and decentralized structures. An
organizational structure outlines the way the job tasks are formally divided, grouped,
and coordinated. The effect a decentralized structure has on managers and employees
is that, the gap between who can make the decision has been spread. With a
decentralized structure the process of decision making comes down to the manager
that is closest to the action. The impact on organizational strategies has been that
organizations have to adapt to the new structures to fit in to be able to compete more
efficiently and effectively.
Firstly, one of the common organizational designs we see today is the simple
structure. The simple structure design has a low degree of departmentalization, wide
spans of control, centralized in a single person, and little formalization. Examples of
organizations that use the simple structural model are small retail stores, and
electronic firms run by a hard driving entrepreneur. Small businesses usually use the
simple structure, these are businesses that usually have only two or three vertical
levels, a loose body of employees, and the decision making process is centralized.

With this in mind all tutors should be mindful and uphold the basics set out in The
Equality Act 2010, which ultimately protects the rights and equality of all individuals,
prohibiting victimization. Providing a rich and varied context is essential, tutors
should utilize a range of different methods to engage all students interests and
learning styles. Identifying and meeting the learners needs are important so that
tutors can facilitate students learning and ensure that both the students and tutors
meet the required goals. Each learner is unique and brings to the learning situation
their own different learning style, knowledge set, past experiences and
motivational levels. It is important for tutors to consider the level of knowledge and
skill development attained by the learners prior to instruction through a variety of
different types of assessment, in order to offer a high quality learning experience,
delivered and resourced to suit the needs of the learner. Tutors can assess learner
needs through numerous means, such as; informal and formal assessment strategies,
pre course interviews and learning style tests. This will allow tutors to tailor lessons
and activities to support learners individual needs. A further way to address more
