Academic field trips provide students with practical experience outside of the classroom to supplement what they have learned. Field trips allow students to observe places, objects, phenomena and processes in their natural settings. The objectives of field trips are to give students hands-on learning experiences not available in the classroom, test the application of classroom theories, develop observation skills, cultivate positive attitudes and values, and enhance knowledge of development practices. Pre-field trip activities include orientation, site selection, and planning assignments and responsibilities. During field trips, students conduct group work, brainstorming, data collection, analysis and make recommendations. Expected outcomes include a 4,000-8,000 word report analyzing local conditions, identified challenges, and proposed solutions. Field

Sustaining A Learning Agenda Through Longitudinal QuestionsHumentum
Embracing a learning culture has become imperative for organizations to stay in business. When is a good time to evaluate the lessons learnt from a project? Setting a learning agenda at the onset has transformational advantages. Come and learn how a DRC-led project working with displacement affected people in Somalia embraced learning and adaptation. Leave with practical tools for how to develop and align your learning questions to organization objectives ; develop a learning plan and create ownership for the learning agenda
A small action research project focusing on sociolinguistic competencies needed by newcomers for a successful integration into Canadian society has created an opportunity to reflect on the gains and challenges of action research conducted by practitioners.
There are different types of teaching methods which can be categorised into three broad types. These are teacher-centred methods, learner-centred methods, content-focused methods and interactive/participative methods.
This keynote presentation will provide an overview of field-based learning - an active, inquiry-based teaching and learning strategy where teaching and learning is extended beyond the classroom/laboratory walls and where students are exposed to real-world teaching and learning settings in the broader community. In field-based learning, students learn by hands-on application of course content and though direct interaction with the environment rather than solely through textbooks and lectures.
2. What is ACADEMIC FIELD TRIP?
Academic field trip is an off-campus learning
activities to gain practical experience of what has
been learnt in class.
Field trip is an educational procedure by which
the learners obtain first hand information by
observing places, objects, phenomena and
processes in their natural setting.
Such trip is made to places and locations of
relevance to the cause of study like communities,
institutions, centres, organisations, ministries,
agencies among others.
3. Objectives of FIELD TRIP?
To participate in learning experience that are
not normally available in the classroom, but
are essential for sound training in
development policy and administration
To test the validity and practicability of
classroom learning to practice, thus helping
students develop their own professional skills
To create situational teaching for cultivating
observation, keenness and discovery.
To serve as a means to develop positive
attitudes, values and specific skills.
4. Objectives of FIELD TRIP?
To develop an agenda for subsequent
learning and achieving sustainable
development
To verify previous information, class
discussion & to conclude individual
experience.
To enhance students’ knowledge on
development practice
Finally, it is an integral part of the
research studies
