Acacia nilotica is a medium to large sized tree found scattered in the drier parts of the lower terai region of Nepal that will thrive with irrigation if the climate is too arid. The tree has bipinnate leaves, golden yellow sweet scented flowers, and seed pods containing 8-12 dark brown compressed seeds. It is drought resistant but frost tender and not fire resistant, used for fuel wood, heartwood, lac production, gum, human consumption of seeds, and as excellent fodder from leaves and pods.

7.  Tree nature : Medium to large sized almost
evergreen tree.
 Soil ph. Flourish in alkaline soil with considerable
moisture.
 Root system: Young plant develops s long taproot
from the commencement , and strong lateral roots
are also formed early. Under normal conditions on
dry ground the tap root reaches a considerable
length where water is found.
 Associates: Associated with sissoo and khair
forests.
