on the right tells us that Kathryn is collecting
them right now. The action is in progress. The
verb is collecting shows a progressive or
continuing action.

• To refer to events that are in progress at the time of
speaking or writing
• To refer to things that are taking place or that are true
around the moment of speaking or writing
• To show that the action is continuing
