Occupational therapy is a client-centered healthcare profession that promotes health and well-being through occupation-based therapy. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people with impairments to participate in all activities of daily life and return to life roles in a timely manner. Occupational therapists work with all age groups and with a wide range of physical and psychosocial impairments in settings like hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, schools, and private enterprises. Occupational therapists assess, plan treatment, provide interventions, and work as part of a team. Interventions may include adjunctive techniques, enabling skills, purposeful activities, and occupation-based approaches to support a return to home and community.
