IDENTIFICATION OF INSECT PARASITOIDS
A parasitoid is an insect living on or in the body of another insect, called the host from which it gets protection and food during its immature stage and the adults are free living.
In a typical case, eggs are laid on or in the body of the host, the larvae feed on the body contents of the host, pupate either inside or on the host body and emerge as adults.
The hosts are not killed immediately. Most of the parasitoids belong to Hymenoptera (90%) and Diptera (10%).
type of parasitism
Superparasitism:-
When more than one adult of the same species attack the host.
Eg:-Trichospilus pupivara -opisina arenosella
Multiparasitism:-
More than one species attack the host
Eg:-Bethylids and braconids - o.arenosella
Hyperparasitism:-
When a parasitiod is attacked by another parasitiod.
Eg:- Aphid - Aphidius -asaphess
Most insect parasitoid are waps and flies
Most of parasitoides belong to -hymenoptera and diptera
1.Hymenoptera
The ovipositor originates and protrudes ventrally from the abdomen and is used to insert eggs into their hosts. There are three super families.
a) Super Family : ICHNEUMONOIDEA
* Possess long and filiform antennae
* Wings are veined
Example - Family : ICHNEUMONIDAE
Family : BRACONIDAE
b) Super Family : CHALCIDOIDEA
* Mostly smallest parasitoids and gregarious
* Antennae geniculate
* Abdomen very short or globular with very slender propodeum
* Wings without veins
example-Family : CHALCIDIDAE
Family : TRICHOGRAMMATIDAE
Family : EULOPHIDAE
c) Super family : BETHYLOIDEA
* Smaller than Icheneumonoidea and larger than Chalcidoidea
example- Family : BETHYLIDAE
* Eg. Parasierola (= Goniozus) nephantidis, a larval parasitoid on O. arenosella
2) Order : DIPTERA
Family : TACHINIDAE
* Eg. Sturmiopsis inferens, a larval parasitoid on sugarcane shoot borer, Chilo infuscatellus
* Large bristle flies
* Eggs may be macrotype or microtype
* Macrotype eggs are laid directly on the host's body usually attached to the neck region by a glutinous secretion
* Eg. Spoggosia bezziana on O. arenosella
* Microtype eggs are laid on the host plant and the host larvae feeding on the plant tissue ingest them
Predators
predators kill and feed on several to many individual prey during their lifetimes.
Many species of amphibians, birds, mammals, and reptiles prey extensively on insects.
Predatory beetles, flies, lacewings, true bugs (Order Hemiptera), and wasps feed on various pest insects or mites.
Most spiders feed entirely on insects.
Predatory mites that feed primarily on pest spider mites include Amblyseius spp., Neoseiulus spp., and the western predatory mite, Galendromus occidentalis
In India, a marginal farmer and small manufacturing units produce Fifty percent of mushroom and the remaining mushroom produce by industrial institutions.
There are two chief forms of mushroom growers in India, seasonal farmers and commercial mushroom framer who take production continue entire year.
Mostly both develop white button mushroom to your domestic market and export.
The seasonal button mushroom growers are restricted to temperate regions like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Kashmir, hilly areas of Uttar Pradesh, hilly areas in Tamil Nadu and North Eastern areas where farmers take 2-3 plants of button mushrooms at a year
To commercial mushroom farming, required heavy expenditure on the building infrastructure, purchase of machinery and equipment, raw materials, labor, and energy.

Question1
A cross-sectional study was conducted to examine the effect of gestational age on systolic blood pressure (SBP) of low birth weight babies who weigh less than 1500 gms. Data was collected on 60 such babies and posted on Moodle in the Excel file Assign2Q1.xls. The dataset contains the following variables.
ID: Participant ID number
sbp = Systolic blood pressure (mmHg)
gestage = gestational age in weeks
a) What are the study factor and the outcome factor?
b) To explore the association, calculate the correlation coefficient and interpret it?
c) Conduct a simple linear regression using Stata and report the Stata output. What are the assumptions for a linear regression? Examine the assumptions with the support of relevant graphs and statistics.
d) Write down the regression equation and interpret the regression coefficients and their 95% confidence interval from part c.
e) What is the expected systolic blood pressure of a newborn whose gestational age is 24 weeks? Show your workings.

Question2
A case-control study was planned to investigate whether there was an association between a mother being diagnosed with toxaemia (A condition in pregnancy, also known as pre-eclampsia characterized by abrupt hypertension, albuminuria and oedema) and the baby being born with low birth weight. The research team wished to recruit the cases and controls from antenatal clinics. Based on a pilot study, the team expected that the odds ratio of the association in question would be 2.5 using a two-sided significance test and the prevalence of toxaemia among women giving birth to a normal weight baby is 6%.
a) If equal number of cases and controls could be recruited in this study, how many in each group would be required to achieve 90% power at 5% level of significance? Include a screenshot of your Stata command and output with your response.
b) One of the researchers thought that prevalence of toxaemia among the controls would be 4%.
i. What effect will this have on the required sample size to detect an OR of 2.5 with the same power and level of significance as in part a)?
ii. If the prevalence of toxaemia in the control group is uncertain, would it be preferable to assume that 4% or 6% of the control mothers have the condition? Describe your reason.
c) A similar study on the same source population found that approximately 80% of the mothers approached for the study would agree to participate. From this information, how many mothers of newborn will need to be approached to achieve the sample size that you est.
Elderly population is increasing due to demographic shift in favor of geriatric population. This age group is susceptible for many health problems. Biotechnology is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make products, or "any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms, or derivatives thereof, to make or modify products or processes for specific use" (UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Art. 2).
Survey on biotech product perception at Jahangirnagar UniversityRaghib Ishraq
Biotechnology is the third wave in biological science and represents such an interface of basic and applied sciences, where gradual and subtle transformation of science into technology can be witnessed. Biotechnology is defined as the application of scientific and engineering principals to the processing of material by biological agents to provide goods and services. Biotechnology comprises a number of technologies based upon increasing understanding of biology at the cellular and molecular level.
The application of biotechnology can result in new ways of producing existing products with the use of new inputs, and new ways of producing new products.
One of the best known applications of genetic engineering is that of the creation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). There are potentially momentous biotechnological applications of GM, for example oral vaccines produced naturally in fruit, at very low cost. This represents, however, a spread of genetic modification to medical purposes and opens an ethical door to other uses of the technology to directly modify human genomes. A genetically modified food is a food product derived in whole or part from a genetically modified organism (GMO) such as a crop plant, animal or microbe such as yeast. Genetically modified foods have been available since the 1990s.
Abstract— Elderly population is increasing due to demographic shift in favor of geriatric population. This age group is susceptible for many acute and chronic health problems which may lead to limitation daily activities of life. Study of acute and chronic health problems with limitation daily activities of life of this population is required to frame comprehensive policies to make ageing a comfortable experience. So this cross-sectional period prevalence study was carried out from September 2009 to August 2010 on 1620 elderly residing in Municipal corporation area of Jaipur city with the aim to study episodes of acute health problems within last one month and limitation daily activities of life within last years of this population of elderly population. Study population consist of 1620 elderly with M:F ratio 0.95. Mean age of elderly was 66.08 years with slight female predominance i.e. 1048 females for 1000 males in Jaipur city. It can be concluded from 41.6% of elderly were having difficulty in performing activity of daily living and this difficulty was found more in females that males and in older ages. It was also revealed that 44.37 of elderly had one or more episodes of acute illness in last one month. These number of episodes of acute illness in last one month was found more in males and in older age groups.

Childhood mortality is one of the important indicators of a country’s general medical and public health conditions, and consequently, the country’s level of socio-economic development. Its decline is therefore not only desirable but also indicative of an improvement in general living standards. In India, 2.1 million children die before their fifth birthday. Half of these children die even before they are 28 days old, accounting for one-fourth global infant deaths. Of the 9.7 million child deaths worldwide annually, one-third occur in India. The statistics are equally shocking among neonate’s children new born to a maximum age of 28 days old.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.
