Myth Of Equality
Women are inferior to men. What else could happen when they try to be men, they have sought
to usurp us in all fields and elements of society, from cultural, economical, political, racial, and
social to any other thinkable. This is entirely absurd, you cannot replace something that is your
antithesis or your natural pairing, as examples a desktop computer has no value as a laptop, salt
water has no use as fresh water, hunting dogs are lousy falcons, and guns are terrible shovels.
These examples all work in the opposite direction as well; furthermore the earth or more
accurately life on earth requires both salt and fresh water, the pair plays a vital role in the process
one cannot replace the other in regards to importance. They can replace... Show more content on

Regarding equality of outcome, people see the disparity of results and dismiss any other
explanation for one of discrimination. These people wrongly infer from the data that if women
were just given the chance they would succeed. However, they will never be satisfied, the results
of the two groups can never reach equilibrium in a free society; that is to say if people are given
the liberty to choose they will never reach the same or equal outcomes, especially if measured in
groups; furthermore if these people attempt to curtail liberty to achieve this equality, they will
receive condemnation from the rest of society. Likewise equality of opportunity has its own
problems, though of a different nature, these people seek to bypass human nature, with a complete
disdain for how humans spontaneously form and organize society. The crux of the problem is that
equality of opportunity presupposes it is best to assume that people are interchangeable; however
this could not be further from the truth. Different groups of people have innate unique
characteristics, these characteristics are more prevalent the

A Career Full Of Stressors In Nursing
Nursing is a career full of stressors. Every day nurses deal with some type of stress and they can
become emotionally drained. Nurses are the support system for the patients and their families,
they watch patients suffer, and sometimes they even care for patients who are terminally ill and
dying. The modern world of health care and tightening budgets are resulting in additional work
related stressors such as barriers to providing optimal care, increasingly complex needs of patients,
short acute care lengths of stays, the need for increased knowledge of ever changing technology,
nursing shortages, poor staffing, long work hours, limited resources, and feelings of lack of control
(Smith, 2014, p. 119). The above stressors can put nurses at

Passing and Human Relationships
Passing and Human Relationships
The Harlem Renaissance was a turning point for many African Americans. A vast amount of
literature was created specifically for this group during this era. For the first time, African
Americans were being told that it was okay to be proud of who they were. This new consciousness
and self awareness was prominent in many works of literature, but several writers began exploring
the darker side of this movement with literature that concentrated on the negative aspects of race
relations in America. Nella Larsen s novel Passing concentrates on this theme with the story of
Clare, a tragic mulatto who passes as a white person. Not only is Passing representative of the plight
of the tragic mulatto, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that she has to deny her identity in order to feel safe eventually leads to her realization
that her life has become a lie. Clare tells Irene that she nearly died of terror the whole nine months
before Margery (her daughter) was born for fear that she might be dark (Larsen 168). Her husband
nicknamed her Nig, because she gets darker each day.
Although Clare s desire to return to the African Americancommunity outwardly seemed merely
whimsical, inwardly, Irene begins to see something groping, and hopeless, and yet so absolutely
determined inside this woman (Larsen 200). Clare will stop at nothing to leave the life she once
desired in order to re enter the African American community. Clare begins to realize that her
desire to return to her African American heritage overshadows any disaster it may cause. In
order to get the things she wants badly enough, she d do anything, hurt anybody, throw anything
away (Larsen 210). In reality, Clare s ultimate loss of soul is realized in the fact that she is
willing to forsake her family, including her daughter, in order to reclaim her racial identity. This,
not her eventual death, becomes Clare s ultimate tragedy. She loses something of her own soul
living in the world of white men. Clare feels that society forces her to abandon her family simply
because part of her is African American. The fact that Clare pretends to be white in order to

in 1945 began selling furniture. IKEA has expanded to other European countries, Canada and
Australia. Currently, IKEA is the market leader in the distribution of furniture and home decorative
items. IKEA entered the Russian market in 1991 but did not open its first store until 2000 in

In Russia, IKEA has been operating since 1991, but did not have an open store until March 2000.
The first store opened in Russia being in Khimki (Moscow). After March 2000, more stores have
been creating. Since opening the first store IKEA has poured over $4 billion in the country. Russia
became a good consumer that is why, IKEA plans to open more stores in Russia even with the
minor setback with dealing with the government.
Current Marketing Strategy The strategy of the IKEA group in Russia was to invest in a market
which can give a big profit in a long term. While the other foreign companies started leaving their
businesses from Russia, Ingvar Kamprad saw a big opportunity there, and started investing in the
Russian market. The result was good, in Ingvar s words: IKEA becomes the main supplier of
home furniture to the normal Russian families and our sales in Russia will exceed those in our old
home country Sweden (International Marketing, N. Ghauri amp; Cateora, 2010). The fact that
Ingvar was the only owner who wanted to keep his company in Russia may give IKEA more power
and a better competitive advantage in the future. The IKEA group sells quality furniture at a low
price, to maintain a strong competitor. For that, the company has to try to cut cost without losing
quality in the products that it sells. IKEA organized their stores in a different way than its
competitors. While its competitors put its items in

Comparing St. John s College And Churchill College
University of Cambridge has a long past. The university established in 1209. University
established by Oxford University scholars. But it this writing I will specifically talk about 2
colleges. St. John s College and Churchill College. St John s was founded in 1511. Its foundation
charter, dated 9 April that year, was sealed by the executors of the foundress, Lady Margaret
Beaufort mother of King Henry VII, who had died in 1509 . She had begun the process of
transforming the ancient hospital of St John the Evangelist, Cambridge (founded c. 1200), into a
collegefor students in the liberal arts and theology. Founded by Royal Charter in 1960, Churchill
College is the national and Commonwealth memorial to Sir Winston Churchill, Britain s great
wartime Prime Minister the embodiment of his vision for how higher educationcan benefit society

the buildings. As we can predict buildings in St. Johns looks old than Churchill College s building.
In St. Johns College buildings have gothic and neo gothic design. Unlike St. Johns College,
Churchill College s buildings have modern designs. And my observations show that St. Johns
College s campus is larger than Churchill. There are 874 students in St. Johns and there are 730
students in Churchill College. And these students aren t coming from air. Something should attract

Essay about Public Broadcasting In Canada
INTRODUCTION Over the centuries, the media has played a significant role in the shaping of
societies across the globe. This is especially true of developed nations where media access is
readily available to the average citizen. The media has contributed to the creation of ideologies
and ideals within a society. The media has such an effect on social life, that a simple as a news
story has the power to shake a nation. Because of this, governments around the world have made it
their duty to be active in the regulation and control of media access in their countries. The media
however, has quickly become dominated by major mega companies who own numerous television,
radio and movie companies both nationally and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The question then becomes do we need a public broadcaster to enhance democracy? The answer is
yes. Public broadcasting is needed to enhance democracy in Canada because our society depends
heavily on media influence and this influence has increased over the years, it is a platform for
Canadian culture to be represented in the media and it ensures that Canadians receive rich
unbiased information. THE CANADIAN SOCIETY IS INFLUENCED HEAVILY BY THE
MEDIA One of the major reasons that Canada needs public broadcasters to enhance democracy is
because Canadians are heavily influenced by the media. One of the arguments against this notion is
that Canada as a nation has been able to retain democracy before the introduction of media,
according to Attallah (2008) there is no need for public broadcasting because democracy was able
to thrive prior to the introduction of media (p.1). Attallah, however, has neglected the fact that the
Canadian society like every other active society is forever evolving and changing. As we move
into an era where the media plays a major role, it is imperative that our way of thinking about the
society evolves as well. This means that though the nation was able to thrive without public
broadcasting 2000 years ago, this is not the case now. Today s society demands that the media plays
an active part. With the invention of the smart phone and internet, people have ready access to

Cholelera Research Paper
Cholera is a disease characterized by diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and dehydration (MayoClinic,
2017). An outbreak of the disease was seen in England in the early 1800 s. The system for
treating all ailments was based off of humoral pathology. Doctors analyzed patients based on the
idea that our bodies have four important fluids or humors blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow
bile. (O Neil, 2007). If one is out of balance, they would try to counteract it. The lack of knowledge
and equipment allowed cholerato remain a mystery to the people of England. Another lack of
knowledge was how disease spreads. At the time, the Miasma Theory was accepted, this stated that

Things change with new technology and findings. It is important for scientists to take current
theories and build off of them, or refute them with something that is more true than the last. Some
things science might never be able to fully understand, and scientists need to accept this and use it
to their advantage. John Snow understood that the Miasma Theory, while accepted by all at the
time, might not be necessarily true. He investigated and with the introduction of anesthesia he was
able to further understand the mode of communication of diseases. The Miasma Theory is partially
true, but for ways other than intended. Instead of toxic air diseases can be spread through the air if
the microorganism that causes it is airborne. Cholera, is a microorganism that is communicable

The Real Monster In Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein
Mary Shelley is noted as a brilliant novelist for writing the unorthodox tale called Frankenstein at
only 18, creating one of the earliest examples of science fiction. This spark of a new genre inspired
countless pieces in the Gothic Romantic era of literature; many of these stories are cliche and
typically featuring a tall, green, bolts in the neck giant named Frankenstein. By now, we know that
this is false and that the real monster was a grotesque man formed by a scientist named Victor
Frankenstein. However, there are a few pieces that do capture the beauty of the original novel. The
American horror comedy Young Frankenstein is one of them. Written and directed by Mel Brooks,
the film is drastically different, yet, similar to the book by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The difference is what they discover and learn on their adventures, and how they are welcomed

encountering both of them, but Frederick s creature was welcomed by the old blind man, who
was praying for a visitor to talk to and was showed innocent kindness by the little girl. Frederick
was also actively seeking out his lost monster and lured him back to his laboratory, whereas
Victor let his monster run loose, and did not see him again for two years. Upon returning, Victor s

A Brief Note On The National Mediation Board
Employees generally seek union representation because they feel their workplace rights from their
employer is not being met, or that they have an unfair disadvantage in regards to any needs or
workplace desires. They turn to unions to help bridge the gap and ease the power differential that
exists between employers and their employees. In order for a group of employees to obtain
representation, they must undergo an electionprocess to choose their union or decide if they, as a
unit, want a union at all (Cox, Bok, Gorman, Finkin, 2012). Here, we will discuss the history of and
changes to the manner in which employee votes have been counted to determine an outcome in
these elections.
1. Prior to the National Mediation Board s (NMB) 2010 rule change, what was the primary
difference between how the election results were counted under the NLRA and the Railway
Labor Act (RLA)? For approximately seventy five years the only option an employee had to
submit a vote against union representation was to not vote at all. Under the Railway Labor Act, it
specifically identifies that employees shall have the right to determine who shall be representative
of the craft or class 45 U.S.C $ 152 but does not define that a specific no union choice was
available. This was further exemplified by the National Mediation Board who recognized non
voters as representing a no vote and/or being against union representation. Under this pretense and
applicable to the ballot, which only

Daisy And Jig Character Analysis
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Margaret Wolfe Hungerford. An immortal and self
explanatory quote like this has no reason to be questioned. One person may value someone s
outer and inner beauty differently than the next, therefore it is his or her decision whether
someone is beautiful or not. But what if someone spent his or her life trying to alter the people s
perceptions around them; what if someone spent his or her life manipulating the beholder s eyes to
view that person as the precious diamond in a cave full of stones? Hills Like White Elephants , a
short story written by Ernest Mil ler Hemingway, illustrates this rebellion and control through his
belligerent and prominent character, Jig. In the novel, The Great Gatsby, written... Show more

In fact, it is so clear, that even the audience knows this within the first fifteen pages of the book.
Through Nick s perspective, the reader can already tell that all of Daisy s actions happen for
their own reason; it is known that Daisy is intelligent and on top of everything, yet she pretends
to be completely unaware of the long term affair that her rich husband has been having. Daisy
also throws out some unexpected bursts of intellect in conversation, indicating a hidden
brainpower beneath the charade. I m glad it s a girl. And I hope she ll be a fool that s the best
thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool (Fitzgerald 17). This quote shows that Daisy
is fully aware of the role that she feels women should play in the 1920s. Daisy hopes her daughter
will grow up to be a fool because it is a reflection of herself and her attitude. She is in an abusive
and an untrusted relationship but all she does is pretend to be oblivious to the people around her.
She knows of the struggle that women have to go through during her time period and wants her
daughter to be unaware of the inequality and negativity that comes with being a woman. By
blurting out this disheartening and honest statement about gender roles and the power that comes
with it shows that there is a lot more depth and intellect that comes with her

If you want to use Clonodine, consult a doctor first. Most common side effects of Clonodine

The Ethics Of Marketing And Advertising

Ethics Paper
What is marketing? Marketing, according to Investopedia, is The activities of a company
associated with buying and selling a product or service. It includes advertising, selling and
delivering products to people. In even simpler terms, it s how a company or business buys/sells a
product, and the way in which they do so. Marketing is aimed towards consumers, or us the buyers
of these products, and the best advertising will have us begging for the product they represent.
Although there are marketing and advertisements that are morally sound and ethical, we have to be
weary of those that aren t.
As a well educated consumer, it is up to us to make sure we do adequate research to ensure these
advertisements we are being shown aren t pulling our tail. Companies who do risquГ© marketing
practices involving shady tactics, deceptive advertising, or biased targeted marketing towards age
groups who can easily be taken advantage of are all easily considered unethical and morally wrong.
Ethics, are the general principles of right and wrong. It is very important for businesses to have
sound ethic practices to ensure they avoid legal trouble and media backlash. Morals, on the other
hand, are what each individual find to be right and wrong, and their justifications and experiences
that help them decide between the two.
Moral idealism plays a big role into this as well because as a society we have formulated ideas that
we find morally right

A Brief Note On Contaminated Water And Uv Light
Contaminated Water and UV Light In today s world, the access to clean water is unspeakably
easy. Technology has revolutionized what it means to get clean water that is safe to drink, shower
in, and play in. The water that is consumed by humans comes from water treatment plants, making
it perfectly safe. Many people don t think about where their water comes from, or the process it
has to go through in order for it to be consumable. However, many countries do not have access to
clean drinking water. In other places, people have to clean their own water using the sunto kill
bacteria. This process is called the SODIS process. SODIS, meaning Solar Water Disinfection, is a
process that uses solar radiation from the sun to kill the bacteria in contaminated water. When
countries do not have access to clean water, they use this process because it doesn t require
money and because it is quite simple to follow. Water is put into a regular sized water bottle and
is placed onto an area that can be affected by the sun, such as a roof. Small bottles are usually
used because there is a lower risk of contamination because of the small space the water is in.
The water can reach temperatures of 70 to 100 degrees. The SODIS process is simple, but it is
very time consuming; one bottle can take up to 6 hours to disinfect. SODIS has proven to be a
very reliable way to clean water. In countries where people may have to drink dirty water, they can
suffer from disease. According to the Centers

Explain Why The Adult Age Should Be Changed To 16
Why hasn t the adult age been changed to 16 yet? I think the adult age should be changed to 16
because that is when teens start to become responsible. Also it should be 16 because this is the
age that teens learn to drive a car. This adulthood age should be changed because this is when, as
I said before, teens begin to drive cars. They need to be 100% trustworthy and responsible
otherwise lives could be lost. The adult age should be 16 because teens will start to decide if
they will be accountable for their decisions. Teens should know they are an adult at this age
because if they don t they won t know that they should be responsible on the roads or that they
could cause serious damage for others if they crash. By them putting restrictions on the drivers,
but not raising the age they believe that the 16 year old drivers can be responsible under
restrictions. Many states have begun to raise the age by imposing restrictions on 16 year old
drivers. (Robert Davis Pg. 248.) This is important because no matter what restrictions are put on
teen drivers, they still need to know how to drive in emergencies or just in everyday life. This
proves my claim because people need to give teens a chance before raising the age.... Show more

Teens also need to know they are an adult at this age because they can start making responsible
decisions on their own otherwise they will never become responsible. Serving in the military
before one is considered responsible enough to purchase alcohol is one of the glaring
inconsistencies. (Barbara Hofer Pg. 240). It is important to know this because everyone should
have the right to join the military at the same age all around the country. If they don t, there will be
more and more outbursts of anger when someone finds out that it is only in the area of the country

The Radical And The Republican Essay
In the book, The Radical and the Republican: Fredrick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and the
triumph of Antislavery Politics, written by James Oakes connected the politics and the point of
views of both Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass towards the issue of slavery and the
emancipation of slaves. Oakes interpretations of both men were very detailed in showing their
reason and politics behind their positions they served in society on the topic of slavery. Abraham
Lincoln, the republican, and Fredrick Douglass, the radical, two incredibly distinct people, yet
both shared similar views towards their hatred on the institution of slavery and their highest
hopes for freedom. How can a relationship so different, yet a like lead to the road to emancipation
of the slaves? Both men had different reasons for their detestation toward slavery, yet both
worked to bring the emancipation and fix the injustice regarding the slaves. Douglass worked by
being a famous orator preached against slavery and eventually joined the Republican Party where
he worked with Lincoln and the party to promote and work toward the end of slavery. By 1858
Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were saying the same thing, preaching the same
antislavery politics. Liberty or Slavery must become law of the land (Oakes 5) Beyond Garrisonian

slave emancipation. Lincoln saw the Constitution as neither a clarion

Phylum Hemichordata Research Paper
Phylum Hemichordata
Phylum Hemichordata are marine vertebrates that live in shallow water. Hemichordates have two
significant features with chordates which are pharyngeal gill slits and dorsal nerve cords. The name
hemichordate means half chordate, and hemichordates share some of the typical chordate
characteristics. There are branchial openings, or gill slits, that open into the pharynx; there is a
rudimentary structure in the collar region, the stomochord, that is similar to a notochord; and
there is a dorsal nerve cord, in addition to a smaller ventral nerve cord. Most of the hemichordates
are sedentary or sessile bottom dwellers. Some of the classes live in shallow water or in colonial
tubes. There are two main classes in the phylum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are dioecious animals that use external fertilization for reproduction, while Pterobranchia uses
mostly asexual reproduction by budding. Their feeding patterns vary from each class, and feeding
appendages help them obtain the food they need. They have sense organs such as photoreceptors
and a single preoral ciliary organ which is in front of the mouth located at the ventral side of the
proboscis of the animal (Dobbs. 1988). The proboscis is important for them because that is where
all of the neurosensory cells reside (Barrington. 1965). Therefore, this phylum consists of about 120
species that are mostly known and some not except the main two classes introduced. New species
of the phylum hemichordata are yet to

Raynaud s Phenomenon
Raynaud s Phenomenon
In 1862, French Physician A. G. Maurice Raynaud discovered a condition that caused an
intermittent lack of blood flow to the extremities. Dr. Raynaud highlighted the symptoms and
probable causes of the condition in a doctorate thesis; and later published a book entitled, De l
asphyxie locale de la gangrГЁne symГ©trique des extrГЁmitiГЁs (translated by systranet to be:
Local asphyxiation and caused to become gangrenous symmetrical one of the ends), to further
explain his observations while caring for people with the condition. Since that time, the condition
has taken on many different names, including: Raynaud s Disease, Raynaud s Phenomenon,
Raynaud s syndrome (Raynaud s Association, 2016, para. 3), idiopathic Raynaud s and dead finger.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2014) writes, Raynaud s is a rare disorder

Studies show that Raynaud s affects females (4.9% 20.1%) more often than males (3.8% 13.5%).
Onset of Primary Raynaud s is usually during early adult years, and onset of Secondary Raynaud s
is dependent on the underlying medical condition (Hansen Dispenza, Lisse, J. R., Oberto Medina,
M. Narayanan, S. A., 2015, p. 6). The Raynaud s Association website informs only one out of ten

noted.
Contributing Factors
While the cause of Raynaud s is unknown, factors such as: exposure to cold, underlying disease
processes, chemical exposure, cigarette smoking, injury/trauma, repetitive hand actions, and
medications can increase the risk of developing the condition (University of Rochester Medical
Center, 2016, para. 4). Although Raynaud s has been diagnosed in more than one family member, a

The Giver And Number The Stars Literary Analysis
Two of the most renowned books the Lois Lowry composed are The Giver and Number the Stars.
Cliffsnotes says that The Giver exhibits Lowry s worries about society and humankind. Lowry
attempts to awaken every reader to the dangers that exist when people opt for conformity over
individuality and for unexamined security over freedom. Number the Stars is an instance of the
trouble of growing up. Sparknotes says One could make the case that Lowry uses the context of
World War II as a way of making these difficulties stand out clearly. Lowry emphasizes the point
that individuals are not be devoted to the standards of society. Individuals for the most part question

Concussions In The National Football League
From what I ve researched and what I ve experienced, I don t think it s worth the risk ( Chris
Borland ). This quotation from former San Francisco 49er, Chris Borland, exemplifies the concern
for the increase in occurrence of concussions in the National Football League. A concussion is
defined as a type of traumatic brain injurycaused by a blow to the head ( NFL Concussions ). The
debate on who is truly responsible for the injury s increasing presence in the NFL continues to be
disputed in the league today. Whether the blame is to be placed on the administrative personnel of
the league or the players and their actions, change is the one common denominator in the stances
taken by both sides. The National Football Leagueis not doing enough... Show more content on

The fact that a use of a more efficient test for diagnoses of the injury has not been implemented into
the league s concussion protocol provides support for this argument. Improper education of the
true amount of risk involved that will affect a player in the long term displays the carelessness
of the league s front office. Almost every athlete that remains connected to the NFL has a family
that relies on them for income and support. By discerning the safety of its very own employees,
of which the league would cease to exist without, the NFL is putting the lives and welfare of the
players and their families at risk. Money must become a secondary concern when one is dealing
with a person s safety on the football field. The league cannot continue to put the lives of its
employees at risk in order to avoid money loss. The National Football League is not doing enough
to prevent concussions from continually occurring in the league today and a change in policy is
mandatory in order to provide a safe environment for its players. Nothing matters more than a

and behaviors are a reflection of the authors. As for the setting it takes place at a family s home.
I think it takes place somewhere in the early 1900 s. I think it would make a difference to the story

So it didn t effect the point of the story. Something that really puzzled me in the story was when
the first old lady ran after Marian in the hall and sort of grabbed her by her hair and asked her for
a penny. I didn t understand that point and I don t think it made much sense to the story. The
conflict in the story is when Marian actually goes into the old women s room. The conflict isn t
very clear, but its very obvious there is a problem. The first old women is very outgoing, and the
second old women, is angry, and bitter. So there s a bit of clashing going on with them and it
shows when they spoke to each other. The events that led up to the plot are Marian going into
the Old women s home, being in the room and communicating with them til finally she gets so
scared she runs out. The theme of this story is also irony. Everything in the story conveyed the
theme irony, only because everything seemed like the opposite of what it should have been. For
instance when Marian goes to the old women s home for charity. The purpose of charity is to
help people who cant help themselves, or to do something nice for someone. In the story, Marian
isn t doing it to be helpful, she is only visiting the old women for extra points for her campfire

The Issue Of Gay Marriage
Gay marriage, something that has increasingly been on the news, is talked about in chapter five.
Lambda Legal Defense eve talks about how they will enforce gay marriage through the
manipulation of the courts. The whole trend started in 1996 in Hawaii, with a ruling there saying
theres no reason to ban gay civil marriages. The biggest problem, is that this is not the job of the
Supreme Court Justices to decide, but elected representatives. In 20 years, the Supreme court has
decided in two cases addressing constitutionality of state sodomy in Bowers v. Hardwick and
Lawrence v. Texas. In Romers v. Evans, it ruled on a state constitution amendment. William F.
Buckley wrote a response where in summary he is declaring the Supreme Court has no right to
be in the bedroom of Americans. Having government involved in any personal matter is
hazardous. The debate over which branch of government gets to decide how, when, and why it
can be there(Levin.73) this is saying that the government will enforce themselves in our privacy
on other issues besides gay relationships and contraceptives. New York times ran an article
talking about sodomy laws, and how they are rarely enforced due to not being able accurately
prove anything, and also the time it would take to search for violators. In Bowers V. Hardwick an
Atlanta police officer went to Hardwick s house with a warrant for ticket violations, and found
Hardwick with another man in his bedroom. Hardwick was put in jail for 12 hours, with the

the Buzzanca surrogacy case. By using these court cases as examples, McKee is able to provide
unbiased facts as support in the content of his article. McKee also uses many quotations as
evidence throughout his article. He quotes only lawyers or field specialists qualified to discuss

addressing his audience of legal practitioners. The ethos a writer brings to an argument is crucial
to the success in connecting with the audience; naturally a writer wants to present himself as
reliable and credible (Lunsford 308). McKee, having the status of an average reporter, quotes legal

Aggression Is It †Nature’ or †Nurture’
Aggression is it Nature or Nurture
During our lifetime every one of us feels anger and aggression occasionally, some more than
others, maybe as a child in the play ground or later as an adult when somebody cuts you up when
you are driving along. But what causes anger and aggression and why do we all suffer from it?
Well there are lots of different theories to what causes aggressionand where aggressive behaviour
comes from. So throughout this essay I will examine the different concepts and theories from
different psychologist and develop and show an understanding of Aggression
Aggression is defined as behaviour directed towards another living being with the intent of harming
or injuring them in someway, and can be defined as either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Males will either fight the current alpha male for the role of leadership or submit to him and
become a follower of that gang and follows the orders of the alpha male (gang leader) for fear of
reprisals. Humans are likely to develop similar behaviour patterns to that of other animals, Lorenz
listed the four main drives which are what makes us do what we do and these are: (hunger,
reproduction, fear, and aggression). McIlveen, Gross (1998, pp124) Hogg, Vaughan (2002, pp449)
The trouble with these two theories is that they are both very hard to prove through research, for
example Freud s theory is difficult to test empirically. As Mummendey (1996) has quoted the
essential concepts such as that of destructive energy are so global and inexact that one can derive
no precise predictions or hypotheses that can then be tested. The psychoanalytic approach is really
only able to attempt an explanation of events or behaviour that have already taken place .
McIlveen, Gross. (1998, pp125)

always a consequence of frustration and, contrariwise...... the existence of frustration always leads
to some form or aggression . He believed there was a link between frustration and anger.

To illustrate the feasibility of covered interest arbitrage we assume we have an amount of US
$500,000 to invest.
Investing in a domestic bank deposit at 8% interest ($500,000 x 1.08) would yield $540,000.
Covered interest arbitrage using the British bank: i) Day 1 we convert the $500,000 to pounds
using the current spot rate of the pound, i.e. $1.596
$500,000 Г· 1.596 = ВЈ313,283.21 ii) Sell the ВЈ313,283.21 one year forward using the one year
British interest rate of 9.09%: (313,283.21 x 1.0909) = ВЈ 341,760.65 . This is the amount to be
received on maturity including interest. iii) In one year when the deposit matures we fulfill the
forward contract obligation by converting the ВЈ341,760.65 to US$ based on the forward contract
rate of the pound $1.58004: (341,760.65 x 1.58004) = $539,995.50
Covered interest arbitrage is not feasible in this case as investing in a domestic bank deposit is
slightly more beneficial.

Despite his enthusiasm about not being laid off, Joseph s workload had increased ten fold in
response to the company trying to sustain its present levels of product production and customer
satisfaction despite now employing only three quarters of the work force it formally had.
Joseph is working longer hours, thus spending less time with his family and getting less sleep.
His general impression of his job (employee satisfaction) is quickly dropping. All this contributes
to his decreasing quality of work. Thankfully, after a few months, Joseph s good friend Bill (who

Dehydration
Water makes up more than half of the human body and is required for our cell systems to
properly perform their necessary functions. Dehydration occurs when more water is lost than
what is being taken in. Making sure we have the proper amount of fluids in our cells is vital to
ensuring our bodies are able to properly perform their essentially necessary functions. Water acts
like a cleanser, helping with the removal of harmful waste and possible deadly toxins. Our blood,
which is made primarily of water, is responsible for carrying many nutrients to nearby waiting
cells. Our immune system, which contains a fluid called lymph, is also made of water. If our
immune system is affected by dehydration, it stops working properly and our body... Show more

Our bodies can obtain water from most foods or liquids we consume, but pure water is best.
Alcohol is known to affect the levels of hydration within human cells through its diuretic effects.
The more alcohol an individual consumes, the more water is removed from the body through the
individuals frequent need to urinate. Caffeine is also a known diuretic, but its effects on hydration
levels are believed to be minimal.
The symptoms of dehydration vary from person to person, with factors such as age and weight
playing a role in how a person responds to the effects dehydration on their individual body. Adults
will respond differently to the symptoms of dehydration than children will. When children and
infants become sick they may suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, or increased urination, therefore their
bodies require their electrolyte levels be restored in an attempt to prevent the effects of dehydration.
Drinks such as Pedialyte are infused with sodium and potassium, much like many sports drinks are
higher in electrolytes than pure water. The major difference between electrolyte juices such as
Pedialyte and sports drinks are pediatric juices are generally not loaded with additional sugars.
Preventing the effects of dehydration during hot weather requires an individual to increase their
intake of fluids. Moderate to heavy exercise can

Iberian Ascendancy In The Age Of Discovery
Iberian Ascendancy in the Age of Discovery
At the dawn of the 1400s, a series of fortunate events conveniently coalesced to perfectly set the
stage for a new era of European exploration. Innovative technology allowing sailing on the open
ocean was invented in an age where trade access to luxury goods from the Far East was becoming
ever more limited. A highly motivated, powerful man was born as religious fervor was being
redirected. Successes close to home incited a widespread fervor to explore further. All of these
relatively unrelated occurrences united into an opportunity for certain European nations to achieve
an unprecedented feat sailing the Atlantic Ocean and create an empire. In order to advance their
goals, the Iberian powers combined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the overcoming of the obstacles to this advancement including pervasive myths, uncharted
nautical territory, jealous rivals, a comparatively small population, and very little agricultural
wealth to capitalize on Prince Henry became the creator of the legacy of the Asian arm of the
Portuguese empire. By his death in 1460, Prince Henry had left Portugal as the top power of the
seas and abroad with the best maritime knowledge and an abundant amount of forts allowing
direct access to the riches of both Africa and India (Ames, 25 26). Further progress quickly
followed, including the rounding of the Cape of Good Hope by Bartolomeu Dias; the signing of
the Treaty of Tordesillas, granting Portugal sole control over the land and sea to the east of the line
of demarcation cutting through South America; and Vasco da Gama s triumphant voyage to India
and back via the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Taken together, these events prove that Portugal had
found a successful route to the profitable Indian spice trade that cut out the middlemen.
Furthermore, following da Gama s return, the Portuguese monarch took his success as a sign from
God that Portugal was meant to establish their control over those parts of Asia and spread the true
faith to its inhabitants, inciting a second flurry of voyages

The Crisis Involving Smithville Industrial Chemical Plant...
Responding to crises is an important part of organizational behavior today, especially because of
the effects that have been seen in the previous crises involving prominent organizations such as BP
and the Sandusky case. Ensuring that the company has some sort of backup plan when the
company goes into the limelight on issues, is an important part of making sure that the
stakeholders can be forgiving and go past the crises without much loss to the company. This paper
is a case study of the crisisinvolving Smithville Industrial Chemical plant and the mistakes that they
made in the course of the media coverage of the spill on White River.
In this particular case, the first mistake that the company made was failing to respond
immediately in the course of the reporting of the spill on the news. When the news reached the
executive officer at his house, this meant that he was not available in his office to receive
information on the spill as it was happening. Thus, he was caught unawares and this was
disastrous for the company. Having the knowledge of the events as they happen in the company
is the most important role of the executive officer. It is seen as the duty that the leader has
towards the organization that they are aware of the happenings of their company, and that they are
doing their job. It is an overall sign of preparation for the company to respond to events that may
be adverse to the company (Lee, 2008). The need for prompt response is seen when the company

Brief History Of Terrorism In The 19th Century
The history of terrorism is well known as a historically significant personalities, entities and
incidents associated whether rightly or wrongly with terrorism. Scholars agree that terrorism is a
uncertain term and very few of those considered terrorists describe themselves as such. It is
common for opponents in a violent battle to describe the other side as terrorist or as practicing
terrorism. Scholars dispute whether the roots of terrorism date back to the 1st century and the
Sicarii Zealots to the 11th century and the Al Hashshashin to the 19th century and the Fenian
Brotherhood and Narodnaya Volya or to other eras. The Sicarii and the Hashshashin are described
below while the Fenian Brotherhood and Narodnaya Volya are discussed in the 19th Century sub
section. Other control of Terror historical events sometimes associated with terrorism contain the
Gunpowder Plot an attempt to destroy the English Parliament in 1605. Terrorism was also linked
with state terror and the Reign of Terrorin France until the mid19th century when the term also
began to be associated with nongovernmental groups. Lawlessness often in league with rising
nationalism was the most projecting ideology linked with terrorism. Attacks by various
revolutionary groups led to the assassination of a Russian Tsar and a U.S. President.

The Bean Trees By Barbra Kingsolver
Everyone has someone they consider family. Sometimes people bond solely with their blood
relatives, but more often than not we choose who we consider to be our family as we grow older.
This happens most often when people find a spouse, but many also adopt children as their sons and
daughters, peers as their brothers and sisters, and role model figures as aunts and uncles. The Bean
Treesis written by Barbra Kingsolver and is set in the early 1980 s. It tells the story of a young
woman named Taylor, and the life she builds in Tucson Arizona. Far from home, she meets many
great people and finds a place where she belongs. Kingsolver shapes her message of the importance
of families both blood and found through her use of character archetypes... Show more content on

Throughout the story Taylor grows very close to Estevan and Esperanza. Taylor now considers
them family and proves that by risking losing Turtle and persecution. Through Taylor s heroic
action the author is showing that your family is worth serious danger. Signatory to the United
Nations something something on human rights, Mattie was saying, and that we have a legal
obligation to take in people whose lives are in danger. (page 139 The Bean Trees, Kingsolver) In
this quote Mattie is saying that everyone has the obligation to take in and help people who are in
danger. She believes that people who need help should be helped, that the whole world is one big,
interconnected family. Mattie is a mentor figure who helps and guides people. A part of that is
hiding refugees fleeing persecution and treating them like family. Through Mattie s actions the
author shows that everyone can be family and that they are all human beings who should be treated
as such. The characters build the family that is so important to this story. Through their actions of
helping other they further the message of the importance of family both blood and found.
Kingsolver also uses archetypal symbols to develop her message with Jesus is Lord Used Tires
symbolizing a haven and a garden symbolizing growth and support. Jesus is Lord Used Tires is
represented as a haven because it used to hide illegal immigrants, is the first safe space Taylor

Susan B Anthony In The Progressive Era
The Progressive Era was full of people wanting to change their surroundings and laws in life. There
were abolitionists, women s rights activists, education reformists, and many other titles that people
took to change the inhumane lives that they were being lead by. One woman in particular, Susan B.
Anthony, took on more than just one of these titles. She took on much more than most others would
or could have.
Anthony was born in February of 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts. She was raised in a
Quaker family with activist traditions. Having been brought up in this kind of household she
learned at a young age what was moral and had a keen sense of justice.
Growing up in a Quaker household Anthony was taught that drinking liquor was sinful.

her and Stanton s petition for more laws on limiting the sales of alcohol was declined because the

Anthony and Stanton s National Association continuing to campaign for a constitutional
amendment, and the American Woman Suffrage Association adopting a strategy of getting the vote
for women on a stateВbyВstate basis. Wyoming became the first territory to give women the vote
in 1869. In the 1870 s Anthony campaigned vigorously for women s right to vote, and

Darkness And Darkness In John Milton s Relation To Darkness
Perhaps, within one line, Milton describes the nature of all emitted light; that it must, if we are
to call it light, be considered in relation to darkness and that darkness must be considered in
relation to light; that a thing cannot be without its opposite, since any one member of an
antithesis cannot exist without a counter member, or an anti member; as a white horse cannot
be compared to a black one without the black one being present; A cannot be compared to B
unless B is present; by extension, an antithesis works by expressing two extremities of any one
quality, the antithesis of white is black, since, if we were to evaluate colour, white suggests the
prescience of white and the absence of black, and vice versa. But, to what degree is blackness said
to exist in whiteness? Are they two separate qualities? Is one merely the absence of the other? Is
so, the true nature of the antithesis is of one existent thing to a non existent thing. Suppose we are
to compare lightness to darkness: if lightis said to exist, as an emission which illuminates darkness,
then light can only be considered as something which illuminates darkness, and thus can only be
considered in relation to darkness; likewise, if we are to call darkness that thing which covers light,
it must be considered in relation to its opposite, which supposes that both exist; but, if we suppose
that both exist, than darkness cannot be the absence of light but must rather be covering of it. We
run into problems,

Research On Cognitive Affective Processes
Intersubjectivity refers to the shared understanding between individuals (Göncü, 1993). Research
shows cognitive affective processes help to develop intersubjectivity (Tronick Cohn, 1989).
Similarly, in psychotherapeutic relationships, cognitive affective processes are the building blocks
to the therapeutic alliance. A psychotherapeutic alliance constitutes the shared client
psychotherapist relationship marked by mutual respect, caring and shared understanding of
therapeutic goals. If intersubjectivityis nurtured in the client psychotherapist relationship, this can
lead to increased mutual understanding and goal achievement (as defined by the client) in
psychotherapy. In order to show that psychotherapeutic alliances can be fortified by applying
intersubjectivity to psychotherapeutic relationships, this paper is divided into four parts. First the
literature review opens with the origin and definition of intersubjectivity, including sections on
communication, affect, prolepsis and zone of proximal development (ZPD). The second section
will look at applications to psychotherapy. The third section will offer implications to the field and
finally concluding remarks will close with societal shifts that must be made to foster
intersubjectivity in psychotherapy.

The Power Of Nature In Willow Poem, And Complete Destruction
We cannot command Nature except by obeying her. said by philosopher Francis Bacon. The
meaning behind this famous quote is that human and no such things can fully control or overcome
the nature. We need to follow and accept the consequences of nature. Furthermore, this idea could
influence William Carlos Williams about the power of nature. An American poet, Williams Carlos
Williams was born on September 17, 1883, in his hometown, New Jersey. His first exposure to the
literature was when his father reveals the poems written by Shakespeare to him. However, he
decided to take the medical degree in the medical school at Pennsylvania regard to his parent s
intention. Fortunately, at the University of Pennsylvania, he met his friend called Ezra... Show more

As a modernist poets, Williams breaks from the traditional writing style and writes the poem
without any rhyme pattern. A short, descriptive poem consisting of two equal stanzas, Complete
Destruction contains no such words that could possibly rhyme with each other. Since the
beginning of the poem, Williams writes, It was an icy day, / We buried the cat, (1 2) neither the
word day nor cat rhyme with each other. In addition, Williams continues to maintain the poem
without any rhyme word at the end of each line. This continuation illustrates several purposes.
First, it creates no interesting sound which reveals the sense of sadness. This finally refers that
through the powerful destructive nature death is inescapable. Second, it shows the
discontinuation of sound which reveals the reduction of life that was created by the immense
power of nature. Likewise, Williams also reveals the destruction and elimination of the rhyme in
last two lines in Willow Poem . As presented in the poem, It is a willow when summer is over, / a
willow by the river (1 2) the last word of each line is rhyme with the next line and continue to
rhyme with each other throughout the poem. Nevertheless, this rhyme pattern is destroyed at the
end as stated the last to let go and fall / into the water and on the ground. (13 14). The last word of

Content Reading Inferences
This week s reading covers many areas of content reading instruction such as the inferencing, word
recognition, explicit instruction in comprehension, strategies to increase comprehension and
retention, strategies to partner reading and content routine, and how to love and nurture our
students with God s word. All these areas play a vital role in growing independent readers.
Kaylene Beer pointed out several significant areas of reading comprehension that help students
increase their fluency. Inferences is a skill that helps students with their understanding of written
text. Content area teachers must model and give large amounts of practice for developing this skill.
Bear also discussed in chapter eleven word recognition which has a direct connection with fluency
and reading comprehension. As she pointed out students need a repertoire of skills beyond
sounding it out to help struggling readers with recognizing unfamiliar words (Beer,2003). We need
to teach students strategies that can be used to comprehend the text not just give the meaning of ...

How Did The Lodz Ghetto Affect The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a time when Jews were sent to concentration camps and force to work. There
were some people who had hope to live and had survived till the very end but there were people
who lost hope and died. Lodz ghetto was a laboring camp the had both Jews and Non Jews. Non
Jews suffered in the Holocaust alongside those of Jewish faith because they were sent to ghettos
like the Lodz Ghetto.
The Lodz ghetto was one of the many ghettos with the purpose of hard laboring. Lodz was
crowded area populated with about 160,000 Jews and was enclosed with barbed wire fencing on all

some were able to escape this and were sent to labor camps or ghettos. They were cruel to kill

Using a black market ration cards was very scary, because there is no way to tell when they were

features of life and as a result 20 percent of the ghetto s population died. ( Lodz ). The Nazi s didn

  • 2. Myth Of Equality Women are inferior to men. What else could happen when they try to be men, they have sought to usurp us in all fields and elements of society, from cultural, economical, political, racial, and social to any other thinkable. This is entirely absurd, you cannot replace something that is your antithesis or your natural pairing, as examples a desktop computer has no value as a laptop, salt water has no use as fresh water, hunting dogs are lousy falcons, and guns are terrible shovels. These examples all work in the opposite direction as well; furthermore the earth or more accurately life on earth requires both salt and fresh water, the pair plays a vital role in the process one cannot replace the other in regards to importance. They can replace... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regarding equality of outcome, people see the disparity of results and dismiss any other explanation for one of discrimination. These people wrongly infer from the data that if women were just given the chance they would succeed. However, they will never be satisfied, the results of the two groups can never reach equilibrium in a free society; that is to say if people are given the liberty to choose they will never reach the same or equal outcomes, especially if measured in groups; furthermore if these people attempt to curtail liberty to achieve this equality, they will receive condemnation from the rest of society. Likewise equality of opportunity has its own problems, though of a different nature, these people seek to bypass human nature, with a complete disdain for how humans spontaneously form and organize society. The crux of the problem is that equality of opportunity presupposes it is best to assume that people are interchangeable; however this could not be further from the truth. Different groups of people have innate unique characteristics, these characteristics are more prevalent the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Career Full Of Stressors In Nursing Nursing is a career full of stressors. Every day nurses deal with some type of stress and they can become emotionally drained. Nurses are the support system for the patients and their families, they watch patients suffer, and sometimes they even care for patients who are terminally ill and dying. The modern world of health care and tightening budgets are resulting in additional work related stressors such as barriers to providing optimal care, increasingly complex needs of patients, short acute care lengths of stays, the need for increased knowledge of ever changing technology, nursing shortages, poor staffing, long work hours, limited resources, and feelings of lack of control (Smith, 2014, p. 119). • 4. Passing and Human Relationships Passing and Human Relationships The Harlem Renaissance was a turning point for many African Americans. A vast amount of literature was created specifically for this group during this era. For the first time, African Americans were being told that it was okay to be proud of who they were. This new consciousness and self awareness was prominent in many works of literature, but several writers began exploring the darker side of this movement with literature that concentrated on the negative aspects of race relations in America. Nella Larsen s novel Passing concentrates on this theme with the story of Clare, a tragic mulatto who passes as a white person. Not only is Passing representative of the plight of the tragic mulatto, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that she has to deny her identity in order to feel safe eventually leads to her realization that her life has become a lie. Clare tells Irene that she nearly died of terror the whole nine months before Margery (her daughter) was born for fear that she might be dark (Larsen 168). Her husband nicknamed her Nig, because she gets darker each day. Although Clare s desire to return to the African Americancommunity outwardly seemed merely whimsical, inwardly, Irene begins to see something groping, and hopeless, and yet so absolutely determined inside this woman (Larsen 200). Clare will stop at nothing to leave the life she once desired in order to re enter the African American community. Clare begins to realize that her desire to return to her African American heritage overshadows any disaster it may cause. In order to get the things she wants badly enough, she d do anything, hurt anybody, throw anything away (Larsen 210). In reality, Clare s ultimate loss of soul is realized in the fact that she is willing to forsake her family, including her daughter, in order to reclaim her racial identity. This, not her eventual death, becomes Clare s ultimate tragedy. She loses something of her own soul living in the world of white men. Clare feels that society forces her to abandon her family simply because part of her is African American. The fact that Clare pretends to be white in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ikea Way in Russia Case Study Report IKEA in Russia Emily Kane 491340 Eleanor Jones 491338 Silvia Blanco 490319 Luis Felipe Hernandez 490819 4th March 2011 Executive Summary IKEA began as a small company in Sweden selling small household items but in 1945 began selling furniture. IKEA has expanded to other European countries, Canada and Australia. Currently, IKEA is the market leader in the distribution of furniture and home decorative items. After March 2000, more stores have been creating. Since opening the first store IKEA has poured over $4 billion in the country. Russia became a good consumer that is why, IKEA plans to open more stores in Russia even with the minor setback with dealing with the government. Current Marketing Strategy The strategy of the IKEA group in Russia was to invest in a market which can give a big profit in a long term. While the other foreign companies started leaving their businesses from Russia, Ingvar Kamprad saw a big opportunity there, and started investing in the Russian market. The result was good, in Ingvar s words: IKEA becomes the main supplier of home furniture to the normal Russian families and our sales in Russia will exceed those in our old home country Sweden (International Marketing, N. Ghauri amp; Cateora, 2010). The fact that Ingvar was the only owner who wanted to keep his company in Russia may give IKEA more power and a better competitive advantage in the future. The IKEA group sells quality furniture at a low price, to maintain a strong competitor. For that, the company has to try to cut cost without losing quality in the products that it sells. But it this writing I will specifically talk about 2 colleges. St. John s College and Churchill College. St John s was founded in 1511. Its foundation charter, dated 9 April that year, was sealed by the executors of the foundress, Lady Margaret Beaufort mother of King Henry VII, who had died in 1509 . She had begun the process of transforming the ancient hospital of St John the Evangelist, Cambridge (founded c. 1200), into a collegefor students in the liberal arts and theology. Founded by Royal Charter in 1960, Churchill College is the national and Commonwealth memorial to Sir Winston Churchill, Britain s great wartime Prime Minister the embodiment of his vision for how higher educationcan benefit society in the modern age. . • 7. Essay about Public Broadcasting In Canada INTRODUCTION Over the centuries, the media has played a significant role in the shaping of societies across the globe. This is especially true of developed nations where media access is readily available to the average citizen. The media has contributed to the creation of ideologies and ideals within a society. The media has such an effect on social life, that a simple as a news story has the power to shake a nation. Because of this, governments around the world have made it their duty to be active in the regulation and control of media access in their countries. The media however, has quickly become dominated by major mega companies who own numerous television, radio and movie companies both nationally and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The question then becomes do we need a public broadcaster to enhance democracy? The answer is yes. Public broadcasting is needed to enhance democracy in Canada because our society depends heavily on media influence and this influence has increased over the years, it is a platform for Canadian culture to be represented in the media and it ensures that Canadians receive rich unbiased information. THE CANADIAN SOCIETY IS INFLUENCED HEAVILY BY THE MEDIA One of the major reasons that Canada needs public broadcasters to enhance democracy is because Canadians are heavily influenced by the media. One of the arguments against this notion is that Canada as a nation has been able to retain democracy before the introduction of media, according to Attallah (2008) there is no need for public broadcasting because democracy was able to thrive prior to the introduction of media (p.1). Attallah, however, has neglected the fact that the Canadian society like every other active society is forever evolving and changing. As we move into an era where the media plays a major role, it is imperative that our way of thinking about the society evolves as well. This means that though the nation was able to thrive without public broadcasting 2000 years ago, this is not the case now. Today s society demands that the media plays an active part. With the invention of the smart phone and internet, people have ready access to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An outbreak of the disease was seen in England in the early 1800 s. The system for treating all ailments was based off of humoral pathology. Doctors analyzed patients based on the idea that our bodies have four important fluids or humors blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow bile. (O Neil, 2007). If one is out of balance, they would try to counteract it. The lack of knowledge and equipment allowed cholerato remain a mystery to the people of England. Another lack of knowledge was how disease spreads. At the time, the Miasma Theory was accepted, this stated that diseases were gotten by taking in toxic air . This simply was not logical.... It is important for scientists to take current theories and build off of them, or refute them with something that is more true than the last. Some things science might never be able to fully understand, and scientists need to accept this and use it to their advantage. John Snow understood that the Miasma Theory, while accepted by all at the time, might not be necessarily true. He investigated and with the introduction of anesthesia he was able to further understand the mode of communication of diseases. The Miasma Theory is partially true, but for ways other than intended. • 9. The Real Monster In Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein Mary Shelley is noted as a brilliant novelist for writing the unorthodox tale called Frankenstein at only 18, creating one of the earliest examples of science fiction. This spark of a new genre inspired countless pieces in the Gothic Romantic era of literature; many of these stories are cliche and typically featuring a tall, green, bolts in the neck giant named Frankenstein. By now, we know that this is false and that the real monster was a grotesque man formed by a scientist named Victor Frankenstein. • 10. A Brief Note On The National Mediation Board Employees generally seek union representation because they feel their workplace rights from their employer is not being met, or that they have an unfair disadvantage in regards to any needs or workplace desires. They turn to unions to help bridge the gap and ease the power differential that exists between employers and their employees. In order for a group of employees to obtain representation, they must undergo an electionprocess to choose their union or decide if they, as a unit, want a union at all (Cox, Bok, Gorman, Finkin, 2012). Here, we will discuss the history of and changes to the manner in which employee votes have been counted to determine an outcome in these elections. 1. Prior to the National Mediation Board s (NMB) 2010 rule change, what was the primary difference between how the election results were counted under the NLRA and the Railway Labor Act (RLA)? For approximately seventy five years the only option an employee had to submit a vote against union representation was to not vote at all. Under the Railway Labor Act, it specifically identifies that employees shall have the right to determine who shall be representative of the craft or class 45 U.S.C $ 152 but does not define that a specific no union choice was available. This was further exemplified by the National Mediation Board who recognized non voters as representing a no vote and/or being against union representation. One person may value someone s outer and inner beauty differently than the next, therefore it is his or her decision whether someone is beautiful or not. But what if someone spent his or her life trying to alter the people s perceptions around them; what if someone spent his or her life manipulating the beholder s eyes to view that person as the precious diamond in a cave full of stones? Marketing, according to Investopedia, is The activities of a company associated with buying and selling a product or service. It includes advertising, selling and delivering products to people. In even simpler terms, it s how a company or business buys/sells a product, and the way in which they do so. Marketing is aimed towards consumers, or us the buyers of these products, and the best advertising will have us begging for the product they represent. Technology has revolutionized what it means to get clean water that is safe to drink, shower in, and play in. The water that is consumed by humans comes from water treatment plants, making it perfectly safe. Many people don t think about where their water comes from, or the process it has to go through in order for it to be consumable. However, many countries do not have access to clean drinking water. In other places, people have to clean their own water using the sunto kill bacteria. This process is called the SODIS process. SODIS, meaning Solar Water Disinfection, is a process that uses solar radiation from the sun to kill the bacteria in contaminated water. When countries do not have access to clean water, they use this process because it doesn t require money and because it is quite simple to follow. Water is put into a regular sized water bottle and is placed onto an area that can be affected by the sun, such as a roof. Small bottles are usually used because there is a lower risk of contamination because of the small space the water is in. The water can reach temperatures of 70 to 100 degrees. The SODIS process is simple, but it is very time consuming; one bottle can take up to 6 hours to disinfect. SODIS has proven to be a very reliable way to clean water. • 18. Explain Why The Adult Age Should Be Changed To 16 Why hasn t the adult age been changed to 16 yet? I think the adult age should be changed to 16 because that is when teens start to become responsible. Also it should be 16 because this is the age that teens learn to drive a car. This adulthood age should be changed because this is when, as I said before, teens begin to drive cars. They need to be 100% trustworthy and responsible otherwise lives could be lost. The adult age should be 16 because teens will start to decide if they will be accountable for their decisions. Teens should know they are an adult at this age because if they don t they won t know that they should be responsible on the roads or that they could cause serious damage for others if they crash. By them putting restrictions on the drivers, but not raising the age they believe that the 16 year old drivers can be responsible under restrictions. Many states have begun to raise the age by imposing restrictions on 16 year old drivers. (Robert Davis Pg. 248.) This is important because no matter what restrictions are put on teen drivers, they still need to know how to drive in emergencies or just in everyday life. This proves my claim because people need to give teens a chance before raising the age.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oakes interpretations of both men were very detailed in showing their reason and politics behind their positions they served in society on the topic of slavery. Abraham Lincoln, the republican, and Fredrick Douglass, the radical, two incredibly distinct people, yet both shared similar views towards their hatred on the institution of slavery and their highest hopes for freedom. How can a relationship so different, yet a like lead to the road to emancipation of the slaves? Both men had different reasons for their detestation toward slavery, yet both worked to bring the emancipation and fix the injustice regarding the slaves. Douglass worked by being a famous orator preached against slavery and eventually joined the Republican Party where he worked with Lincoln and the party to promote and work toward the end of slavery. By 1858 Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were saying the same thing, preaching the same antislavery politics. The whole trend started in 1996 in Hawaii, with a ruling there saying theres no reason to ban gay civil marriages. The biggest problem, is that this is not the job of the Supreme Court Justices to decide, but elected representatives. Aggression Is It †Nature’ or †Nurture’ Aggression is it Nature or Nurture During our lifetime every one of us feels anger and aggression occasionally, some more than others, maybe as a child in the play ground or later as an adult when somebody cuts you up when you are driving along. But what causes anger and aggression and why do we all suffer from it? Well there are lots of different theories to what causes aggressionand where aggressive behaviour comes from. So throughout this essay I will examine the different concepts and theories from different psychologist and develop and show an understanding of Aggression Aggression is defined as behaviour directed towards another living being with the intent of harming or injuring them in someway, and can be defined as either ... Covered interest arbitrage using the British bank: i) Day 1 we convert the $500,000 to pounds using the current spot rate of the pound, i.e. $1.596 $500,000 Г· 1.596 = ВЈ313,283.21 ii) Sell the ВЈ313,283.21 one year forward using the one year British interest rate of 9.09%: (313,283.21 x 1.0909) = ВЈ 341,760.65 . Responding to crises is an important part of organizational behavior today, especially because of the effects that have been seen in the previous crises involving prominent organizations such as BP and the Sandusky case. Ensuring that the company has some sort of backup plan when the company goes into the limelight on issues, is an important part of making sure that the stakeholders can be forgiving and go past the crises without much loss to the company. This paper is a case study of the crisisinvolving Smithville Industrial Chemical plant and the mistakes that they made in the course of the media coverage of the spill on White River. In this particular case, the first mistake that the company made was failing to respond immediately in the course of the reporting of the spill on the news. Thus, he was caught unawares and this was disastrous for the company. Having the knowledge of the events as they happen in the company is the most important role of the executive officer. Darkness And Darkness In John Milton s Relation To Darkness Perhaps, within one line, Milton describes the nature of all emitted light; that it must, if we are to call it light, be considered in relation to darkness and that darkness must be considered in relation to light; that a thing cannot be without its opposite, since any one member of an antithesis cannot exist without a counter member, or an anti member; as a white horse cannot be compared to a black one without the black one being present; A cannot be compared to B unless B is present; by extension, an antithesis works by expressing two extremities of any one quality, the antithesis of white is black, since, if we were to evaluate colour, white suggests the prescience of white and the absence of black, and vice versa. But, to what degree is blackness said to exist in whiteness? Are they two separate qualities? Is one merely the absence of the other? Is so, the true nature of the antithesis is of one existent thing to a non existent thing. Suppose we are to compare lightness to darkness: if lightis said to exist, as an emission which illuminates darkness, then light can only be considered as something which illuminates darkness, and thus can only be considered in relation to darkness; likewise, if we are to call darkness that thing which covers light, it must be considered in relation to its opposite, which supposes that both exist; but, if we suppose that both exist, than darkness cannot be the absence of light but must rather be covering of it. • 48. Research On Cognitive Affective Processes Intersubjectivity refers to the shared understanding between individuals (GГ¶ncГј, 1993). Research shows cognitive affective processes help to develop intersubjectivity (Tronick Cohn, 1989). Similarly, in psychotherapeutic relationships, cognitive affective processes are the building blocks to the therapeutic alliance. A psychotherapeutic alliance constitutes the shared client psychotherapist relationship marked by mutual respect, caring and shared understanding of therapeutic goals. If intersubjectivityis nurtured in the client psychotherapist relationship, this can lead to increased mutual understanding and goal achievement (as defined by the client) in psychotherapy. In order to show that psychotherapeutic alliances can be fortified by applying intersubjectivity to psychotherapeutic relationships, this paper is divided into four parts. First the literature review opens with the origin and definition of intersubjectivity, including sections on communication, affect, prolepsis and zone of proximal development (ZPD). The second section will look at applications to psychotherapy. The third section will offer implications to the field and finally concluding remarks will close with societal shifts that must be made to foster intersubjectivity in psychotherapy. Furthermore, this idea could influence William Carlos Williams about the power of nature. An American poet, Williams Carlos Williams was born on September 17, 1883, in his hometown, New Jersey. A short, descriptive poem consisting of two equal stanzas, Complete Destruction contains no such words that could possibly rhyme with each other. Since the beginning of the poem, Williams writes, It was an icy day, / We buried the cat, (1 2) neither the word day nor cat rhyme with each other. In addition, Williams continues to maintain the poem without any rhyme word at the end of each line. This continuation illustrates several purposes. First, it creates no interesting sound which reveals the sense of sadness. This finally refers that through the powerful destructive nature death is inescapable. Second, it shows the discontinuation of sound which reveals the reduction of life that was created by the immense power of nature. Likewise, Williams also reveals the destruction and elimination of the rhyme in last two lines in Willow Poem . As presented in the poem, It is a willow when summer is over, / a willow by the river (1 2) the last word of each line is rhyme with the next line and continue to rhyme with each other throughout the poem.
