2.  Incorporated in 1972 , Scooters India Limited is an ISO
9001:2000 company.
 In 1975, company started its commercial production of
Scooters under the brand name of VIJAI SUPER for domestic
market and LAMBRETTA for overseas market.
 In 1997,It added one more wheel to its product range and
introduced three wheelers under the brand name of
VIKRAM/LAMBRO.

 Scooters India Limited makes various & versatile types of three
wheelers: Vikram 450D(HB),Vikram 450D(STG), Vikram
1000CG, Vikram 1500 CG, Vikram 750D(AC), Vikram
Load Carrier, Vikram EV.
 The products have a high payload capacity and efficiency.
 Vikram run successfully in different countries like India,
Germany,
Italy, Sudan, Nigeria, Nepal, Bangladesh are few of the
countries.

4. REAR WHEEL DRUM
 It is the cast-iron drum attached to the hub of
a wheel of a motor vehicle fitted
with drum brakes.

 Brake drum
 Wheel cylinder
 Brake shoe
 Automatic self adjuster

6. BACK PLATE
• The Back Plate serves as the base on which all
the components are assembled.
• It attaches to the axle and forms a solid
surface.
• Since all the braking operation exerts pressure
on the back plate, it needs to be very strong and
wear resistant.

7. BRAKE DRUM
 The Brake Drum is generally made of a
special type of cast iron which is heat
conductive and wears resistance.
 It is very close to the brake shoe without
actual touching it, and rotates with the
wheel and axle.

8. WHEEL CYLINDER
 One wheel cylinder is used for each wheel.
Two pistons operate the shoes, one at each
end of the wheel cylinder.
 The hydraulic pressure from the master
cylinder acts upon the piston cup, the pistons
are Pushed towards the shoes, forcing the
against the drum.

9. BRAKE SHOE
• Brake shoes are typically made of two pieces
of sheet steel welded together.
• The friction material is either riveted to the
lining table or attached with adhesive.
• brake shoe is the part of a braking system
which carries the brake lining in the drum brakes.

10. Automatic self adjuster
The self-adjuster is used to adjust the
distance between the brake shoe and the
drum automatically brake shoes wear.
 Adjusters only operate when the vehicle is
going in reverse and the brakes are engaged.

11. STEP INVOLVED IN MANUFACTURING OF
REAR WHEEL DRUM
Die casting shop
• Machine that is used in die casting shop is “HMT
BULLET 250Ton” and no is10041.
• 250 Ton is the locking pressure applied during the
manufacturing of R.W.Drum.
• Cast iron and steel hub is used for manufacturing of
outer circular ring and inner circular ring respectively.

12. • DIE COAT WATER WASTE it is used to
prevent sticking the material to the die.
• Molten Aluminum alloy is used for its
manufacturing whose melting point is nearly
600°c, but in die casting shop it is heated up to
642°c.
• Pressure die casting is used for the whole
manufacturing, two types of die is used one
is fixed and one is moving

13. TIME LIMIT
 Time for moving of piston: 15sec
 Lock open time: 13sec
 Standard time : 17sec
 Total standard time taken in manufacturing of an
R.W.Drum in die casting shop is 30sec.

 Drilling (“NETCO” M. H.)
 Boring (“CIMAT” boring machine)
 Tapping (“ROSA” Tapping machine)
